The location is great, staff friendly and helpfull, beds and room comfortable and the breakfast was lovely but a little cold.
The rooms could do with a lick of paint, grand but looking a bit tired.
Good location
Closed the main bar for 3 evenings during our stay
The main areas of the hotel were very nicely presented and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very basic even though we had requested an upgrade. The room was large but not visually pleasing. The bed was 2 singles pushed together.

The location of this property is perfect
The place and the room were very dated and a bit shabby but not chic
Great location.
Very old and dated, room was basic. Breakfast wasn’t great but was ok value for the night.
The lady on reception (mornings) was exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. The hap hazard parking arrangement has now been sorted. The decor in reception and lounges was excellent but the rooms ( including superior ) were ‘tired’ and some areas of peeling paint. The executive breakfast was very good but , as the Churchill suite was being prepared for a big function, the room in which the other residents had breakfast was somewhat crowded.
Two bedrooms which I was able to see were clean but starting to require redecoration.
Great location and friendliness of the staff
Showers over a bath…
Location great. Staff welcoming and polite. We had an evening meal and food was good. Clean bed and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities good.
The decor in our room was tired and furniture shabby.
Location and charm of period character. Comfy beds.
Noise from lift going up and down all night kept me awake. Shower curtain need updating to screen .
Location was excellent. Staying in a very grand old residence
The property was very central and perfect for what we wanted
We were 2 women travelling alone. I had specifically asked that we were booked into rooms near each other. This was ignored and my companion who is 76 years old was on a different floor to me and felt very vulnerable. In addition the window in my bathroom was open when I arrived. I closed it later on but then the bathroom had a strong smell of urine.
Location
Adequate and Central
Breakfast was mediocre
Front of hotel and location
Very tired hotel. Needs modernising, everything was just abit old. Breakfast was very poor, no one keeping food area clean and Poor choice of food. Also tasted bland and cheap
Staff excellent. parking spot reserved as requested. Restaurant food very good
Room dark as Windows faced a brick wall so no sunlight
Great location, very good value, comfortable room, helpful staff
Nothing
Generous sized room, great breakfast
Little creaky, you can hear the floorboards from neighbouring rooms at night
We had a suite which was excellent as was the location of the hotel. We booked parking in advance which is to be recommended. The evening meals were excellent and good value.
No fruit offered for breakfast. No hand rails in the shower which was over the bath.
In town
Wooden floors creaking all over then floor seems to bang every so often
Good cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Extremly good central location. with parking, you need to pre book parking, it is chargable. Close to all Harrogate has to offer. Only had breakfast in hotel as Harrogate has extreme good resturants in immediate area of hotel.
Really couldn't fault hotel. Freindly helpful staff. Drinks in bar were quite expensive but there were good local bars and wine bars with competitive prices in area.
Evening meal and breakfast were superb.
Very close to the town. We were able to leave our car there until 1pm the next day.
We had booked this hotel for our first wedding anniversary. Unfortunately I had not realised I had booked a twin room which consisted of 2 single beds which could not be pushed together. We weren't told where the lifts were and although we were on the first floor there were a lot of stairs. The room itself was spacious, but dated and there was mildew on the shower curtain and overall the bathroom could have been cleaner. the room had sash windows and although it was September it was very stuffy in the room and we had to keep the window open through the night. We had also reserved a car parking space which was located around the back of the hotel and we had to go through a narrow walk way to bring things from the car.
Ok
Everything ok
It was clean and the loacation was good
Damp in the ceiling, the soap dispensers were useless in the rooms you could only get very little soap! Hot Breakfast looked good but was cold! As was the hot water to make a cup of tea! At best it was like warm!
We felt very comfortable
Nothink it was all good
Location was good, few minute walk to bars and restaurants, room was clean and comfortable
Lovely place to stay very comfy, clean and staff where great
Slight issue trying to pay cash in the restaurant but wasn't a huge problem
Great central location.
Parking, had booked but not available so had to go elsewhere, still close by so no big deal really. The water was cold in the evening and the shower was cold in the morning still.
Staff were friendly and polite, excellent location, decent bed
Room (230) was shabby, moth eaten curtains, grubby. Liquid splashes on wall, etc. Just very below par for £100
The hotel was very central, very comfortable.
Minimum parking
Great location. Staff polite and helpful. We would visit again.
Hot water in shower not very warm.
Location was ideal and staff were helpful and friendly

Every member of staff made my wife and I feel special from the moment we stepped into the hotel for our DB&B stay. Especially, Giselle during our dinner. She was so friendly and attentive and she made our experience, wonderful. The food was fantastic, we were not expecting Michelen star quality, but we were pleasantly surprised at how tasty every element was. I honestly don't think we could have found better at other restaurants in Harrogate. We had a lovely memorable stay and we will return.
Central location, a good base to stay in Harrogate , interior is a bit tired but for the price I f the stay no complaints and I would definitely stay here again
Decor tired
Massive room, big breakfast, excellent location.
I enjoyed my stay at the crown it’s a beautiful hotel and very polite and friendly staff
The traffic noise
Location excellent. Staff friendly. Room clean. Needs some attention to detail. Bathroom tired. Thanks for Birthday message and petals. Great breakfast. Good value for money. Will return 🤩
Nothing
Very pleasant staff. Good breakfast.
We really miss the bar/entertainment area at the end of the corridor where the executive breakfast is served. We tend to stay out and go to a bar over the road
Clean and very spacious room
Great location
Beautiful building in a prime location. Room was huge! Check-in was quick and parking available.
The breakfast was disappointing. The sausages and bacon appeared to have been microwaved - not a bit of colour on any of them. Had to rummage through to find a sausage with a hint of brown on it and bacon without white fat.
Breakfast was good very good with a wide choicr
The room was very dated, net curtains were ripped and falling apart. Can hear the kitchen extractor fans which start up early in the morning. Breafast starts very late (7:30) which is late for most people going to work.
The Crown Hotel is a lovely old hotel in central Harrogate near to the shops, bars and restaurants and the Valley Gardens. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had a good shower over the bath and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was self service and there was plenty of hot and cold food to choose from. The Churchill Suite is a great place to eat your breakfast. Had an evening meal which was very tasty and the service was excellent. The staff in the hotel were all very attentive and friendly.

Great location for exploring Harrogate.

Grand dining room. Pleasant staff. Central to the lovely shops of Harrogate and within easy walking distance of all sights.
Limited car parking spaces, but a small carpark close by.
Ideal location, staff were very friendly.
Nothing.
Location
Very dated not very clean and beds are very very uncomfy
Location
Just a little dated
Location, staff, coffee shop
Breakfast
Great central location, clean and great breakfast
Rooms very clean and spacious but a little tired
Location, friendly staff
The bed was too hard
Great location and lovely feel to the hotel
Perfect location, fantastic staff,& lovely breakfast but hotel is a little dated. Would definitely recommend and return again
Bit dated
Everything was fine thx
Not a lot. The location mostly.
It was a birthday celebration and they kindly upgraded us to an executive suite. Which had a urine stained mattress and leather peeling off the headboard, dirty carpets and dusty surfaces.
Area
First room we got had wallpaper coming off the wall with damp, very Dated and the view was damp brick walls facing the windows, room was quickly changed a bit better, electric kettle wasn't very good you had to turn it off manually as it just kept boiling! Very creakey floorboards, blood finger print on net curtains, not good
Lovely old building, fab location for everything in the town centre, room had kettle, fan, iron and ironing board. Breakfast was lovely, everything was hot, fresh and good selection.
Every floor board creaked in the room and the corridors, hardly any plug sockets/none near the bed.
The location and outside of the building ia fantastic. Entrance and feeling history of the building is very nice.
The bed is not comfortable enough as the energy is given by the building . The room is looking to inside of the building and the view - maintenance is not good. And ın general building need a nice renovation/ maintenance. I feel that, there was a luxury life in the hotel but now it is getting older.
All great
Nothing
The out of date hotel it was like staying in a Care home
Breakfast lovely, staff very friendly & extremely helpful, fab location
We have stayed a few times & always enjoy our stay ,bed was comfy & room quiet but we booked a snall double room this time & it needed some upgrading, wardrobe was so close to the bed that u could not get past if door was open & bathroom very tired looking
Close to city centre staff very friendly and willing to help
All ok
The hotel is centrally located, the staff are friendly and efficient and they provide an excellent breakfast.
Decor is a little dated and the drop off at the front of the hotel is tight. The bed was positioned against a wall which is awkward if you have to get up in the night.
Location and parking. Staff were good.
The room was a bit run down and could have been cleaner. Hotel requires a fair amount of refurbishment, probably relies too much on the location for its bookings.
We were in a family room and it was actually two large rooms with shared bathroom. It was very spacious and far more room than we were expecting. Perfect for us.
Nothing
Muy céntrico y un ambiente muy elegante e histórico
Room was little tired. Bath panel needs replacing sink cracked windows badly need a clean. Breakfast was good overall but very poor sausage. Location was ideal but think parking charge was too expensive. Ten pounds is a more realistic price.
The room 360 was adequate for our needs. The cleaner did a really good job and kept the room very clean. The staff are a credit to you. They were all friendly and very helpful. I was given an extra blanket and pillow as I explained that I was cold. These were sent up to our room while we were out. We loved the hotel and will be staying again hopefully in November but will upgrade to a better room with a separate shower. Thanks to all of the staff.
The shower over the bath was difficult to operate I gave up. My husband managed it after a lot of trial and error. Also on our last morning we could only get tepid water.
Love staying here it’s so friendly and comfortable
Nice old hotel in the centre of Harrogate, large bedrooms and proper bathroom with a proper sized bath. Nice bar and pleasant staff.
Bedroom and bathroom were both a bit tired
Great location
Location excellent. Super friendly staff. Bathroom was very spacious and very well appointed. Very nice breakfast.
I liked everything.
Location was excellent

We stay here very regularly because its fantastic, located centrally and staff very helpful and even down to the cleaners very pleasant 😀
Near to town centre
Parking
Classic old hotel which has retained its charm and decor and been well maintained. Staff professional. Bed comfy. In a lovely position.
Nothing negative to say.
We have just returned from our stay. What a fantastic Anniversay weekend we have had, swan towels & chocolate on the bed , what a fantastic surprise. I would also like to say the lady on reception was such a pleasure, greeted with a smile & a very pleasant manner on arrival, very helpful throughout, thankyou Imarni ❤️
Paid £15 for parking space to squeeze car in beside wall that wasn't even a proper space. Was difficult reversing out without hitting wall, pole, lamp post or other car.
Great location in montpelier district, handiest location for the baths and town.
Good location, nice sized rooms, good accessibility. Food is good, as ever when I give a review I abhorr and detest making my own tea and toast. Happy enough with buffet breakfast otherwise.
As above self service for tea and toast rooms are a lovely size but a little basic / dated in terms of furniture, however comfortable and deliver on functionality. I think the main thing that detracts from the Crown is that it's a little dull and lacking in atmosphere.. we would therefore always go elsewhere post dinner for drinks / entertainment. It would be nice if we didn't have to.
It was in a very central location
It is badly in need of modernisation. Far too many stairs to get to bedrooms - requested a disabled walk in shower room but was put at the furthest end of the corridor and had to climb 14 steps (after coming out of lift) to get to room. Not ideal for someone with mobility issues. . Bedrooms were very tired looking with shower over bath which ran at a trickle. Windows were badly damaged, broken and rotten. Again rooms had steps into bedroom or into bathroom.
Location
Bar area
Lovely hotel fab location, lovely friendly receptionist
Breakfast was good, produce was to a reasonable standard with a varied choice.
Noticed that you did not have any waste bins in communal areas.
Location great. Receptions staff great. Bar staff ok.
Pillows shocking, no cushions on sofa. Would only serve doubles for some drinks.
We have stayed in room 247 before. It’s perfect
Good location next to Valley Gardens.
Dog friendly floor is not as nice but the price was very good value for money.
Friendly staff,excellent location,loved the hotel,would stay again.
Close to the centre
Fire alarms went off in the night no one there to let you know what was going on, if we was safe to go back in or do any checks
Very good bath and shower with plenty of hot water. Comfortable bed. Quiet room. Comfortable temperature; neither too hot nor cold. Good breakfast reasonably priced.
There was no USB socket in room, fortunately I had a three pin plug with a USB outlet. No socket near the bed,
The hotel is in a great location close to the town centre and green spaces. Staff very friendly and welcoming
Parking is limited although that’s similar for most properties in this area. Bed was hard, pillows uncomfortable and the room was very dated with cracked plaster and the base of the bed has seen better days The breakfast was ok but not the best.
Location Breakfast
Lack of parking. Booked months before trip and only told two weeks before arrival there was no parking available. Small room and very low bed
Buffet breakfast was excellent, good quality and plenty of it
Super location, great architecture, staff cannot do too much for you, good breakfasts
Building iconic but looking a bit tired
Location superb. Reserved parking. The Place coffee bar.
Main dining room: Slow service despite only 9 people seated. disorganised staff. Food was from a freezer. Charge for cream on gateaux. No slip mat in bath first night...very dangerous. Dust everywhere.
The location
We was given the wrong times for breakfast so by the time we had planned to go down it was ready for closing. The room( suite) was very noisy and the floors very creaky so you could hear everything. Parking has to be booked in advance but luckily we did get a spot. I wouldn't stay here again.
Had a huge family room, large bathroom, was very quiet and dark. Breakfast was very good.
