Bed could have been softer but still comfortable.

They made us pay our stay twice. They made me pay with my debit card upon check-out and after that, they also charged the pre-authorized amount on my credit card. Now I have been trying for two months to get my money back. We are talking an amount to the tune of CDN 1,000, so we got charged almost CDN 2,000 for our stay! Any attempt to contact the property directly, by email, phone, email through Booking.com, call or Booking.com attendant remained unanswered. Any property that took their customers seriously would react and reimburse the double amount. Any property that did their accounting properly would notice and reimburse the double amount. Also, any attempts on behalf of Booking.com were rather half-heartedly and ambiguous ("Please submit this," "Now we also need that," "Booking will reimburse on behalf of the property," "Booking will not reimburse on behalf of the property"). If Booking took their customers seriously, the would unlist any property that acts like this. As it stands, it is no more Castle Rock Country Inn and no more Booking.com for us, unless we will be convinced otherwise.

We had a wonderful 2-night family stay in this charming building. The location was excellent with beautiful views, easy access, and convenient parking. Our room and beds were spotless and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and satisfying, and the staff were exceptionally warm and helpful.

The bathroom was clean and functional, but the fixtures, tub, and shower curtain felt quite outdated. Updating the bathroom would give the room a much fresher and cleaner overall look.

Great place to stay - just a bit outside of Ingonish - but not too far to drive and enjoy the park The view was great and it had a nice large balcony from the restaurant - where you can just pick up pizza for dinner and sit outside and enjoy the view. Breakfast included was very nice too. The room was very comfortable and clean - only didn't like that it was overlooking the parking lot - so had to keep curtains closed. Would definitely recommend.

The breakfast was very good. We especially liked the assortment of fruit . Ciffee was very goid as well.

Perhaps a bath towel for use after the shower would have been helpful.

The deluxe room would have been completely overcrowded for four people (as originally booked; luckily there were only two of us, and it was still cramped). Room was a bit old-fashioned. The restaurant is closed indefinitely (we went to the Main Street Restaurant instead). Wi-Fi is not encrypted.

A/C buttons didn't work. You needed to unplug it to shut it off. But room was quite comfortable temperature-wise.

Das Frühstücksbuffet war super!!! Vor dem Wandern im Park konnte man sich hier ordentlich stärken. Wäre es nicht so neblig gewesen hätte man dabei auch noch tolle Aussicht gehabt. Das Zimmer war groß, aber wirkte eher "vollgestellt" mit Möbeln. Das Bett war bequem, die Lage für unsere täglichen Ausflüge war gut. Preis-Leistungs-mäßig war es nicht gerade günstig, aber das Buffet hat das echt fast wett gemacht. Es gab den ganzen Tag über Kaffee und Kekse und es war immer jemand vom Personal ansprechbar.

Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche war ziemlich schwach. Aber ist bei einem so alten Haus auch eher zu erwarten. Das hauseigene Restaurant hat geschlossen - das hatten wir aus der Intenetpräsenz anders verstanden. Man bekommt also dort am abend nichts mehr zu essen und zu trinken.

Advertised having a dining room / restaurant but did not. Bathroom not clean, pillow case was stained, glasses dirty. AC did not work, told us it would be fixed but was not.

Everything was wonderful-the staff, breakfast, location. After hiking all day, that bed was so comfy it didn’t take long to fall asleep. The big area behind the building had chairs to sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful view. I’d come back for sure!

Breakfast was excellent and staff were very accommodating. Suggested dinner restaurants and places to explore. The view of the ocean from the inn is wonderful. The room we had was a bit cramped with furniture but the fridge had a freezer and we could freeze our ice packs for the cooler. That was great!

It’s a 5 star for location on the Cabot trail and the magnificent views, however the standard of the room means 2 star overall. We had a deluxe ocean facing room. On arrival we found an issue with toilet which was apparently known but sorted 24 hrs later. Bathroom poor / awful thin towels, very dated and dingy. Water pressure low. Rest of room ok but definitely needs an upgrade to call it deluxe. Breakfast ok, not great. Staff were friendly. It looks like it was a great place at one point but somehow has been left to deteriorate over time. Needs investment Stay here for the views but compromise on everything else

1 day before arrival they cancelled our reservation without any explanation. Already on route for vacation when got this unexpected info. Had too scramble on cell to find another room , which I finally did at a higher cost & not near area we wanted to stay. Tried calling them for reason why short cancellation but kept getting voice mail.

Way overpriced ($305 for a double room with a sofa bed, early July 2026). No on-site amenities (pool, spa etc...). The bathroom was dated and overall, the property showed a lack of maintenance and attention to details (damaged caulking, bubbling paint, chipped sink, paint on switches and fixtures, broken window frame, black spots on air conditioner vents).The breakfast was just okay, no fresh cut fruit (only sliced apples).

The property is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the trail. The scenery is stunning, host and guests all warm and welcoming. Wish we booked more than one night there!

What a beautiful view. Very nice old building. The staff were very friendly. Lots of Adirondack chairs for sitting out on the lawns to see the view.

The restaurant was closed. There was a small restaurant about a km away. Otherwise the hotel is not located close to other amenities. We walked to the closest restaurant down the hill so we could have a drink.

I think the cost fit for the rooms on the back side with the gorgeous view but not the front. I think the room is not big enough for three people- it’s fine to have the pullout but no room for luggage etc The woman at the desk was a friend helping - seemed a bit ditzy - gave our room to someone else but said it didn’t matter. But then we didn’t have enough cups glasses and towels Didn’t really welcome us and give us the welcoming speed. And thought I should pay when I already paid Booking.com- asked me if I had a voucher but when I got my phone and my booking confirmation and $ guaranteed. I couldn’t find her Told the owner when we were leaving he seemed fine with that Also a note at front desk that we saw when leaving to not drink the water- too late- maybe should have bottled water readily available if can’t drink water

Kim’s place was wonderfully homey, the view absolutely breathtaking and the breakfast spread a delightful surprise. The place is a bit dated but the service and homey bed and breakfast feel definitely made up for it. We really appreciated the hospitality and local recommendations!

What a stunning view! We were blessed with an ocean-view corner suite on the second floor during our two-night stay. I could wake up to that view every day! Breakfast was solid and the staff were incredibly pleasant. It's a bit of a drive back to town (Ingonish) and the trail heads, but not enough to be a bother. We will be back!

Wonderful place to stay on the Cabot Trail. Jane and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was incredible! We had an Ocean view room which was very comfortable. We even were welcomed and had fun playing bluegrass music in their lounge area. We really hope to return and stay longer next time!

The atmosphere of the hotel was great. It is an old house changed to a hotel, so it gives you the feeling of being at home, especially with the decoration of the salon! The salon ( lobby) is very beautifully decorated by the old pictures of the owner and vintage furniture. The view of the salon where the breakfast tables are situated is amazing! You can enjoy your breakfast watching the sea, the island and the forest. The breakfast was great. You could find a great variety of cold and warm food. We had an unforgettable experience, so I recommend this calm and clean hotel to everyone.

Comfortable, clean, good location but a bit dated. WiFi was out due to a construction related issue outside of the hotels control. Our late/non-staffed check in was fine but failed to notify us of the WiFi issue which created unnecessary angst. Included breakfast was fine.

Castle Rock Country Inn was a very nice place to stay. As it's a bit out of town, you need to drive to restaurants. Breakfast was very good with a lot of options. Staff are great and check-in was easy and quick. Would stay here again.

We were greeted with a heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for a delightful stay. Nestled in a serene and picturesque location, the property boasts rooms that offer breathtaking views.

The inn is very cute. Our bathroom was t the cleanest. Long black hairs on the floor and in the tub. We will have to rinse the tub before showering.

Okay place, kind of dated and in need of a refresh. Room had a lovely view, so does the dining room. Room needed some maintenance done and the toilet paper was 0.5ply. Food was not very good but the staff are very friendly and helpful. Seems kind of odd and risky how they work your credit card. First they make you reserve a room with your card and take down all your info online on their booking page, pretty normal. Then when you check in they make you write out your credit card, name, expiry, and security code on your check in sheet even though the sheet doesn’t ask for it, never happened to be before, then they want this repeated with all your card info a third time again when you check out. I would stay here again if the price is right compared to others, or if they freshened the place up and didn’t seem so sketchy with my credit card.

Nice place. Was told that there was a restaurant on site but it was only operating for a work crew staying there. I feel that it was over priced for the services that were available.

We adored this hotel during our trip across the maritime s. It was clean, quiet, charming Sam’s the views were breathtaking! Definitely a memorable experience.

The breakfast was superb and there was plenty of it. The bed was very comfortable. The views from the breakfast room were beautiful.

Comfortable stay, with a great view from the garden. Convenient location on the Cabot Trail. The owner was very informative and clearly loved the region - gave helpful advice that we followed.

The inn no longer serves evening meals and there did not seem a lot of options locally - probably nothing in walking distance. The breakfast was pretty standard - don’t recall anything that seemed home cooked.

As far as a country inn is concerned, this one was a delight. Jane was such a joy in every encounter. She made the visit even more special. It was a comfortable place to get away, have an adventure and rest my head.
