Location is convenient to IU
Dated rooms, noisy A/C, not enough guest parking, parking garage is difficult to access/navigate if you’re driving a large SUV or truck, parking must be paid via QR code and it wasn’t working, no key available at check in, two hair dryers in the room and neither one worked. (With regard to room key …Front desk staffer had to escort us to our room to open the door for us. He proceeded to tell us IT staff were on their way to fix the problem and a key would be delivered to us within 40 minutes. Never happened. The following morning we had to pack up everything and haul it with us to breakfast because we had no way of getting back into our room. To add insult to injury, we were paying an inflated rate for the room because it was a busy time on campus.
Breakfast was excellent Front office personnel, desk help was excellent.
A/C issue , not cooling!
Parking lot is very difficult to get into with bigger vehicles. The hotel seems to have a lot of moisture in the air. my room had moisture on the floor in the bath and bedroom. The bedding seemed to have moisture on the covers and pillows.
Great place to rest in the college town of Bloomington. Clean rooms, helpful staff and a great breakfast. Only down side was being charged for parking after being told it would be complementary and it wouldn’t post to my credit card. A solid 8/10 (if no parking issues closer to a 9-9.5/10)
Location
Parking garage! Couldn’t get into it. Had to park elsewhere, get up at 4:00am to pay for next day or be towed!
Great Rooms and Service and the hotel is perfectly located by the town square with bars and restaurants all around. Breakfast at the hotel is not great to say the least.
Great place to stay, it was easy to park and pay, the breakfast was basic but it was easy and good, and the staff was friendly.
Want to Bloomington for a wedding checked in around four PM left immediately for the wedding the room and the entire hotel seemed very very damp. When I returned. It was just miserable and was not gonna accommodate an overnight stay for my family. I asked to be given a refund as it was just better for me to go home at that point was not gonna be able to sleep the front desk said that was no manager on duty and that they could not provide a refund, but they called the manager who asked if I wanted to go toanother room I said no I had already looked at another room, which was the same way the entire hotel was damp the hallways the lobby, the rooms condensation on all the windows. She assured me that it would be taken care of when the manager got back. Four days later he denied my request for a refund. I called and spoke to him and he was very rude. His name is Jeremy English and was very adamant on. You will not receive a refund and that he offered another room and that was as far as he was going to go. if he was not going to give a refund, I should’ve been told that before I left and not told everything would be fine. Bad service, bad management
Great location and amenities.
Clean Friendly and helpful staff Close to campus Charming/Cute area of town Spacious rooms
Terrible coffee at breakfast Had to pay for parking Bed pillows hard and uncomfortable Pool closed
Breakfast
By mistake, they charged me sodas from the convenience store at the lobby. They did not solve this simole issue at check out, and now I have to waste my time over the phone and email to fix that. Staff not helpful at all.
When we arrived we were told our room was given give. To someone else and they no longer had two queen rooms. We had to sleep 5 people in one queen bed and a pull out couch, on top of that we paid easily double the amount for this reservation compared to our normal al price for hotel stays. I was told they would contact management about some sort of reimbursement but I never received a call or reimbursement. The chlorine in the pool was extremely high, the kids eyes were burning and they were coughing horribly due to the chemicals. It was a very busy weekend, I understand that, but the lack of effort to compensate on our room due to overbooking is what I didn’t like about the property. I even reached out via email and no one ever responded.
The rooms were satisfactory, but the breakfast was genuinely disappointing. If you’re not on a tight schedule in the morning, I’d recommend eating elsewhere. I understand that breakfast is a convenience and not something that guarantees high‑quality food, but the experience would be far better with fewer options and better execution. During peak hours, most of what remained on the buffet were bread items, which made the variety feel misleading. Simplifying the offerings and focusing on higher‑quality selections—while keeping the food levels consistently replenished—would make a noticeable difference.
As a World of Hyatt Explorist member, I've stayed at many Hyatt properties over the years, which made this experience especially disappointing. When I arrived at my room, it was clear that it had not been thoroughly cleaned or properly inspected. Both the bathtub and bathroom sink drains were clogged and drained very slowly. Even more concerning, I found a pair of dirty socks left inside the armoire from a previous guest. There was also a foreign object underneath the bathroom sink, and the inside of the armoire was noticeably dusty and dirty. Finding items left behind by another guest immediately made me question the overall cleanliness of the room. Between the housekeeping issues and the maintenance problems, this stay fell well below the standard I expect from Hyatt. The location of the hotel is convenient for visiting Indiana University, which is one of the reasons I chose this property and had planned to stay here again later this year. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to reconsider those plans. I hope management addresses these housekeeping and maintenance issues. Hyatt has built a strong reputation for quality, and this property has an opportunity to do better. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel until these issues are resolved.
Everything that was available was great. The breakfast was surprisingly good for a hotel. Parking on site was fantastic and very convenient for the location.
Pool was out of commission, not too big of a deal but worth mentioning. Also really don’t like metropolis parking, but the fee was pretty reasonable.
I live less than a block away from the Hyatt Place hotel in Bloomington, IN. All of my out-of-town visitors have stayed there &, to-date, it was fine: not fancy, but a good value for the price. A friend for whom this was his 4th visit, stayed there July 9-11. It was a horrible experience from start to finish. He made his reservation by phone & requested the military discount, which he'd been given on all previous stays. He was told he should ask for that when he checked in. Upon checking in, he was told he should have done that when he made the reservation & that they would not be honoring that request. When he went to his room, he found the bathroom had not been cleaned. I was waiting for him in the lobby as he showed the desk clerk a photo of the bathroom, and she yelled for all guests to hear, "That is disgusting!" And speaking of the desk clerk, it was difficult to identify hotel staff from guests: jeans, shorts, sneakers, no ID badges. When my friend asked to speak with the manager, he was told he'd have to wait: There was a line of guests waiting to speak with him! He was told the manager would be in the next day at 9:00 a.m. But when my friend asked to see him at approximately 10:00 a.m. that day, he was told the manager had left for the day. The clerk gave my friend the manager's email address & was told to send him an email, so he'd know what was to be discussed. The manager was also not available the next day. My friend said the fitness room was missing equipment from his previous stays & that what little food was provided for breakfast was cold and/or burned. Oh, and my friend checked out yesterday morning about 11:00 a.m.; he still hasn't heard from the manager. He will never stay there again & I will tell all friends & family to find a different hotel.
Location
Room was damp to the point of clothes becoming damp. Smoke detector light flashed every 10 seconds. Room service came in when we were told nobody would come in until 3rd night. Front desk service was not helpful and barely made eye contact. Breakfast on July 4th served stale pancakes, possibly a day old. No pancakes would have been better than serving stale pancakes.

Breakfast was overdone. Coffee was not very good.
Location was great and the huge selection for Breakfast was amazing.
Pool area could have been cleaner and 1 elevator was having issues closing the door from the garage area for a while
The hallways and guest rooms were nice and cool. The staff was available anytime we needed them. Parking was easy this time. Pain for was interesting, there’s a QR code. You used to stop and grab a ticket. It is a big hotel, it’s in a great location, it’s a great value! The bed was soft and comfortable, and the pillows were awesome! On weekdays breakfast is over at 9 AM, likeall the Hyatt hotels, and I always wish it would run later. Highly recommend this location in Bloomington
Great location, outstanding service and breakfast included. Love staying in the heart of downtown. Easy walk to great night life and fabulous bars and restaurants. Hotel staff is amazing and breakfast buffet is included
Clean and staff super nice
Breakfast was below average and not worth it
Great location excellent room size
Parking issues
Convenience
Too loud at midnight and 2 am people roaming the hall shouting Every time you leave the parking garage you are charged!
Nice hotel in great location in the heart of Bloomington's Kirkwood area with easy walking to a variety of restaurants, shopping and bars . Comfortable and clean rooms, clean and fresh gathering spaces and helpful staff made our stay enjoyable. The full breakfast was very nice. Areas that detracted from our stay were 1. Room doors created a loud slam when closing and could be heard throughout the hallway as other guests entered/exited their rooms 2. Smoke detector strobe light in room was too bright for nighttime 3. Sliding glass bathroom door didn't provide full privacy and illuminated the whole suite at night when bathroom light is turned on. 4. Outsourced parking garage management is no longer an easy additional fee to your hotel bill. Instead there is an app that you access through QR code and was very awkward to navigate just to pay.
The atmosphere of the hotel was pleasant and clean. The most impressive thing was the helpfulness and kindness of the employees.
There was a major issue with my hotel reservation. I arrived to the Hyatt Place in Bloomington, IN. Upon arrival around they knowingly put us in a room that had already been deemed “out of order”. The room was unkept, the bed was not made, the HVAC system did not work, the TV did not work, and the telephone did not work unless on speaker mode. This is completely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. As a consumer, I faithfully met my obligation by submitting a payment of $642 for a room for two nights. I went down to the hotel concierge desk and politely asked if they could switch me to another room—they said they are unable to do so. They state that the hotel is at capacity. Yet, while sitting in the lobby sitting in the phone with Hyatt Customer Service, I saw them check in and give away a room. The attendant at the front desk is telling me that I am unable to cancel my reservation—even in this extenuating circumstance. I have asked to speaker to their supervisor or manager. They then state that they are unable to contact them, even in this situation, because it is “after hours”. Additionally, they are unable to provide any alternatives or recourses to resolve the situation. They were unable to provide any guarantee that the situation will be sorted out in the morning, either by providing a different room and discounting the first night, discounting the reservation, or canceling the reservation altogether. They are stating that I will have to wait until 9 AM the next morning to speak to the general manager—and that even if in speaking with the general manager, there is no guarantee that anything can be done. They continue to state that the hotel was reserved through a third party vendor and they are locked out from doing anything, which makes absolutely zero sense seeing as how Hyatt hotels is the end dealer of this transaction. I also called Hyatt Customer service. They provided a very similar story—stating that this will have to be handled in person with the in house staff (a step I have already taken, albeit to no avail). So now it is 2 a.m. EDT, and they are telling me I have no options. I understand that there is a cancellation policy, but I also recognize that there are extenuating circumstances, and in this case, given the gross negligence of knowingly placing us in a unit that required maintenance and yet providing other “working” rooms to guests who arrived later, constitutes a special circumstance. This is completely unacceptable. Bottom Line: We were placed in a room that was knowingly listed as "under maintenance". Then, when i asked the staff to have change rooms, they said they were unable to do so because they had no availability. Yet, I saw two other guests check in after my request. I was told they could not contact the supervisor or general manager. When I tried talking to the manager on multiple occasions, I was told he wasn't in. When I finally spoke to the manager, he said he would comp both nights. Yet, when the third party booking agency has tried contacting the hotel in order to resolve the issue, they have been unable to contact anyone--even though I provided them the general manager's contact information. So the manager and Hyatt customer service are evading the third party agency, and trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility.
Breakfast is not that good as the photo I saw on the website.
Lo ved the breakfast choices
Friendly, helpful staff that really made us feel welcome. Rooms were generous size, clean and comfortable.
The location was perfect, we want to come back and walk the area!
The first room we checked into the air was broken but they changed us rooms immediately even with being packed for a baseball team.
Konumu OK. Restoran ve barlar civarda
Şaka gibi bir bellboy bile yok. Valizlerinizi size verilen arabayla kendiniz taşıyorsunuz ! Temizlik 3 günde birmiş, odada çöpler birikti, bari kendimiz atalım dedik. Kahvaltıya zayıf demek zayıf kelimesine hakaret olur, o derece hiçbir şey yok. Tatsız tuzsuz omlet, patates, granola ile doyabiliyorsanız buyrun gelin.
it was a place to stay
We booked a double queen with a sofa pull out as there were 6 people in our group. The front desk checked us in. We got up to our room and it was a single queen with a pull out. 2 of my kids had to sleep on the floor. when the front desk was contacted, we were told that they determine who gets what rooms...even though I restated we were a party of 6 and that's why we booked. We could not change hotels as there were tornado warnings everywhere. Very disappointing!!!
Convenience to IU Campus
Bar closed early
I recently stayed at the Hyatt in Bloomington and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout my stay. The hotel itself was well-maintained, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and inviting. While there were a couple of minor issues—the TV needed to be fixed on the first day, and the air conditioning struggled a bit to keep the room cool—the staff responded promptly and did their best to address the concerns. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the excellent customer service. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others visiting the area.
Room was very good
Breakfast was only OK, and times on work days were not early enough to take allow breakfast
Nice updates n clean
Price n charged to park

The location was perfect to walk around downtown Bloomington. And it's next to the Captain Janeway statue! The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. It was very quiet on the floor. I went down for a drink in the evening, they had a good selection of snacks and drinks. Cheaper than the bar across the street!
Its in a perfect location. Your able to walk to so many things. Toom were spacious
There wasn't a thing I didn't like
The room is clean and you got everything you need. Because the location is very central, some rooms may have higher noise level compare to others. My room is a corner room facing the main st. I do not mind the noise level as I enjoy the view. The service is impeccable and the amenities is alright. Will come back again for a business stay.
Clean
The hotel had no room keys, none. Never have had this happen. Had to have a hotel staff escort to our room every time we left. Not only did the room require a room but so did the elevator. Absolutely unacceptable. Do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
This Hyatt place is in a good location, close proximity to university of Indiana. The room was clean. The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress at end of life with deep grooves. The pillows were lumpy, hard and balled up- not fluffy. The beds suggested Hyatt was trying to replicate a dorm experience for parents visiting their children in school. The hotel was quiet.
This was the perfect hotel for a quick weekend trip to Bloomington to visit with friends. Hotel is in an excellent location! Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and campus. The rooms were very spacious and clean! Beds were comfortable too! Enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning as well! Would stay here again!
Staff was great. Location was perfect.
Provide free deck parking....$16 seems a bit of a rip off. Provide a bar tender. Whats the use in having a bar without someone in attendance.
This is a very nice hotel, with helpful staff and a decent breakfast. However, please be warned, there is no microwave in the room. There is one available on the floor by the elevator but this is so inconvenient to heat up take out food. I just don't get it. Virtually every hotel I have stayed in has a microwave.
Outstanding breakfast buffet, beautiful and comfortable hotel, great beds. So convenient to IU. Definitely would stay again!
The whole experience was very satisfying, the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The room and the facilities were quite conveneient, and the location is great
breakfast had very limited variety
The location
The staff failed to tell us at check in that the housekeeper only cleans every 3rd day and bring that we only stayed 3 nights we wouldn’t get out room cleaned. I called the front desk to let them know that we are out of towels and tissues and he was extremely rude with an attitude and told me that I would need to come down to the lobby to pick up towels. The breakfast wasn’t great. Food was cold. No pastries. Coffee wasn’t hot. Coffee cups and lids needed to be refilled. The AC didn’t work well. In the middle of the night we all woke up sweating. There was something very wrong with the AC unit
Wrong room (paid for one with 2 queen beds and we got one that was only one bed). Poor water pressure in the bathroom. Parking garage didn’t work (it kept trapping us and others in the parking garage). Flashing ceiling strobe light all night kept us up.
Great location. Updated gym. Easy check in.
I understand the hotel is in the heart of Blooming but it’s Bloomington not NYC or Chicago. I daily parking fee is high for a limited size garage approximately 50% of which isn’t covered. As you may have guessed it rained during our stay so we walked in the rain to get to our car.
Nice people, hotel needs way more attention. As it goes, looks to be a no frills, college town hotel and that’s fine. But bare and exposed box springs with the tabs falling off and filthy shower grout and splatters of who knows what on room divider? Not okay.
The room size and hot water.
Most amenities were unavailable, it was not that clean, the staff at night were rude, it was not comfortable, the breakfast made 2 people sick, there was a continual flash of light at night in the room that was very bright, the wifi was slower than it should have been, and there were drunks all over the place.
Staff, location
charging an additional fee to park. High prices are bad enough but then fees, fees, fees, add insult to injury
I had a very disappointing experience during my recent stay at this Hyatt property. While the room itself was clean and spacious, the overall service and facilities fell well below expectations—especially for a hotel of this caliber and price point. Key issues: The bedside lamp was broken, which made one of the bedside power outlets unusable. The TV was not working properly and was flickering. The swimming pool was not available for use. Housekeeping was provided only after two days, which meant we had to reuse the same towels for two days. I reported these issues on Day 1 and specifically requested that management reach out to me, but no one ever contacted me. If I had known about these problems prior to booking, I would not have paid this rate. I’ve stayed at multiple Hyatt hotels in Ohio, Seattle, and Portland and have never had such issues—this was the first time I experienced such poor service at a Hyatt. Ratings: Room (Cleanliness): 10/10 Room (Spaciousness): 10/10 Hotel Staff: 3/10 Food: 4/10 Room Utilities (TV, Bedside Lamp): 2/10 Swimming Pool: Not usable Clean rooms alone do not justify paying extra for “comfort” when basic amenities, maintenance, and responsiveness are lacking. This experience does not meet the standard I expect from Hyatt.
The Breakfast was fantastic. Lots to choose from. Very good. The location is great. Right in the middle of everything.
The frosted bathroom door has no sound barrier whatsoever. The clear shower doors don't allow for anyone else to come in the bathroom while showering. Also the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Between that and the doors, there's no privacy AT ALL. It's embarrassing even though I'm rooming with my family.
Location
The blinds didn’t work
Everything was excellent!!
Staff is amazing and friendly! Great Globalist recognition (breakfast, valet parking). The club could be improved, the coffee smelled like the dairy wasn't clean, and black coffee tasted burnt. Overall, great stay. Fun atmosphere for the Final Four!
Staff was outstanding. Gym facilities great.
No ayudan, no resuelven y no tienen educación.
The staff were very friendly and organized. There was a large event locally and the hotel was completely booked, but the staff managed everything efficiently and with a smile!
Every staff member we encountered was great. Front desk answered all my questions. The location is prime. Around food places and close to campus. Love the room layout with couch.
Refills at breakfast could have been better. We did go at the later end items were gone.
Comfortable, location, clean, breakfast
Entrance to parking garage
awful. Understaffed - clogged drains in room - parking lot full - poor food service in the morning. all that for surged pricing at $500/night
Room was nice. Spacious. Clean. Beds were good. Pillows were mid. Location is awesome. Breakfast included is a plus. It was decent.
Pillows. A bit pricey for what you get.
Staff called the police after they charged my card for a room I didn’t stay in
fire alarm blinking whole night + i get room near exhaust from garage so there was noise the whole night. I had to wear noise canceling headphones.
Clean hotel in a great location. Hotel has great amenities. Rooms are spacious and accommodating. Walkable to restaurants and local attractions.
This property is incredibly understaffed. I had to wait 15–20 minutes just to get a coffee because the one person working at the reception desk was also responsible for checking guests in, making coffee, and bartending. Each time she began making the drink, another guest would arrive to check in, forcing her to stop and return to the front desk. This cycle repeated multiple times, and by the time she finally finished my drink, it was the wrong order, likely because she was juggling so many roles at once. Several other guests were also waiting for coffee and drinks, and some eventually gave up and left due to the wait. This level of staffing is simply unacceptable for a hotel charging premium rates.
I was very disappointed with my stay. When paying over $800 per night, I expect a level of service and accommodations that match that price point, and unfortunately this hotel fell far short. The hotel appeared to be severely understaffed, and it was nearly impossible to get assistance with basic issues. The HVAC system in my room was extremely loud, so loud that I couldn’t even hear the TV. I tried turning it off using the thermostat, but it continued running and never shut down. I attempted to call the front desk using the phone in the room, but the phone didn’t work. I then had to walk down from the 7th floor to the front desk to speak with someone in person. The staff member there told me he was the only person working and that he did not know how to fix the HVAC system. At $830 per night, guests should be able to expect functional room equipment, adequate staffing, and responsive guest services. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet the standards one would reasonably expect at this price.
This is the worst experience I have arriving at any hotel. I booked this hotel with a premium credit card Sapphire reserve 5 months in advance with a decent rate at one of the busiest weekend at Bloomington - mom's weekend at IU. This is a non-refundable booking with everything already paid for. Due to work schedule, I did not arrive at the hotel until about 11pm. To my surprise, the hotel told me that they have no available room for me and asked me to sort it out with my booking agency (aka credit card) for refund or replacement hotel somewhere else. Really? You cancel on a paid booking on date of arrival? I asked for the manager on duty and the story gets worse. The manager (she) told me overbooking is common and last minute cancel or room not available happens all the time. SAY WHAT? I asked her room not available common for what reason? Her answer was it can be many reasons including overbooking, something major broke inside a room etc. I asked her what's the reason for our last minute cancellation. She said she could not disclose it and started to be rude. She told me that I was simply waste time talking to her and should move on to find hotel options with my credit card company. Even if this not their mistake (but I am sure it is), she shows no sympathy and never really apologize. On top of it, She said you did not book with them directly so its not their responsibility to contact the customer. She claimed they have notified my booking agency that same day so its not their problem anymore. Really? The same day? And its now not your problem? I called Sapphire reserve and of course, they said they have no knowledge of it. They offered to help me find another replacement hotel but given that's the busiest weekend and 11:30pm at night, there is nothing but a motel 8 or holiday Inn express that is 30min drive away. While I was on the call, I went to google and tried to look for hotel and it showed Hyatt have 1 room available at rate close to $1000 a night which is way more than what I have paid. So was it really they made a mistake on their booking? some room become unavailable due to unforeseen situation? or they let someone took my room since I didn't show up until after 11pm since room rate was $1000 by then? You can be the judge. Regardless, I completely lose respect to this hotel and in some way to Hyatt hotel management. Whether they overbook, made a mistake or really something unforeseen happened, own up to it instead of basically telling the customer to leave. This reservation was paid in full. It should be honored. I plan to file a complain with Hyatt and gladly share my experience with others.
Great location to visit our student at IU! The staff was super friendly, and the room was nice and clean.
The sink in the bathroom was slow draining. I would have also liked an extra blanket available in the room
This was a wonderful property, the room was very nice, breakfast was wonderful, and the location and price were in line with what we needed for this stay.
If I had to pick something to note, the parking structure was VERY tight. The entrance was a bit of an adventure as a VERY steep uphill curve. It also was very small with limited spots for parking. But that said we got in and out just fine and found a parking spot.
It was a great stay in a fun part of town.
The pillows. I need better pillows.
