Staff extremely friendly and very accommodating.

Room was very spacious and lovely. Traditional style but very keen and house keeping was regular and thorough. Breakfast was really good. The staff were incredibly accommodating to us with our dog too.

Our bed appeared to be broken which affected one side.

The grounds, the staff, the breakfast and spa were lovely.

The only thing I didn’t like was that there weee loads of small flies maybe 20+ in our room (313). It was no problem though, we called reception and they came with and cleared it all up.

Stunning location. Fistral beach and the town both within walking distance. Good comfy large bad. Lovely sea view. Large room and large bathroom. Good continental breakfast.

Poor shower. Interesting layout with half the ground floor given over to the odd wedding. New furniture in breakfast room looks antique but it isn’t. No tea or coffee available between breakfast and 12 noon. Poor cooked breakfast.

Pokój potrzebuje remontu tak jak reszta hotelu . Straszna niska jakość do ceny . Za prawie 200 funtów za noc każdy by oczekiwał czegoś bardziej na czasie a hotel zatrzymał się w 1990, Juz nawet nie wspomnę o panie w recepcji przez która zostaliśmy niemile przywitani .

Wasn’t air con so we ended up leaving window and balcony door open only to be woken up to a delivery at 7:30 with very loud ‘This vehicle is reversing’ and beeping that went on for about 10 minutes in the morning. The sauna didn’t work in the spa, the spa flooring was extremely slippy, the hot tub was about 30 years old and didn’t produce much of any kind of jets. Location was great but very steep hill back and forth to hotel which should be taken into account if you are planning to walk into town and maybe have mobility issues.

Views are amazing. The pool was empty which i always find a lovely if small luxury - a pool to yourself. Town is a very short walk. Nice find.

For some reason they stack and leave deliveries in the lobby so when you arrive it looks like a total tip. Blue roll, loo roll, stock, 8 foot high and ugly. There must be another door. Also when I went the one lift was out of order - not their fault but still annoyiing.

First class dinner on 2 nights. Some of the best hotel dinner we have had. Staff seemed very positive with change of ownership who were making positive changes. In a beutiful setting

Newquay Town is looking very tired and downbeat. hotel rather dated and why have a restaurant overlooking a car park with a 360 veiw of the Ocean in the other side of the building, bedroom need smore attention to detail

Very rundown hotel. Week before our arrival we were contacted to advise that the terrace attached to our room would be closed off due to maintenance issues. When I wanted to cancel the booking they offered me dinner for two (2 courses) on one night, when I refused they swapped our room for half the stay. By this stage it was too late to find an alternative so I accepted. This first room the lights didn’t work. For 2 days the lift wasn’t operational. It is a 10 minute walk from the town centre at the top of a hill, difficult to get taxis in peak hour (impossible Saturday night) & when you did get one it was £10 each way. Makes it a VERY expensive stay. We stayed 9 nights.

We had to ask for hand soap, nothing provided in bathrooms until we asked. It was a sea view room with a dirty window to look out of.

Excellent location just a few minutes walk from Fistral beach and central Newquay. The hotel staff are all wonderful. Nice to have spa facilities in the hotel. Our room was huge with a lovely balcony with views across the sea.

Some areas are tired and dated but this is being addressed with a huge investment so we look forward to visiting again to see the changes. Spa area is quite small and got very busy at times.

Breakfast was good , buffet style was good , didn't offer a choice as most hotels do , had to ask for vegi option menus would help and other options would be a good thing to offer . On arrival our first room was unsuitable , staff very quickly rectified this .

Letting non residents use the indoor pool . Also letting residents take their dogs into the breakfast room definatly a no ! Also dissapointed about the outdoor pool being unavailable and not being told before our visit as was looking forward to using it it .

Very dated hotel needs a refurb specialy the outside, hotel needs air-conditioning as it was very hot, the pictures of the hotel online are not true to reality particularly the outside seating area over looking the sea which was disappointing, lots of rust on tje outside and mould inside the bathrooms.

Shower was covered in mould. Cracked tiles and poor maintenance in the bathroom. Room big, but only a desk and bed, no where to put your luggage apart from on the floor. View was nice but over a flat room with rubbish on it. Room in general was very dusty with water marks on the wall. Hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. Receptionist was nice and did her best to help, but for the price I’d at least expect a clean room and a bathroom without mould.

A little dated, it looks like they started painting the staircase walls but then gave up, the blinds in our bathroom were broken. The spa needs a little tlc.

Room was really poor, mould around the shower, cracked tiles, dusty room poor maintenance. Sea view was looking over a flat roof that had rubbish on it. Reception superior was lovely and tried to help but the hotel is just tired and needs an upgrade. Room didn’t even have anywhere to leave out your luggage on. It was very hot and no fan provided. Didn’t know vegetarian breakfast was available until hearing someone order it was I was leaving.

Sauberkeit, einige Dinge (Wasser ist aus undichtem Waschbecken/Wasserabfluss ins Bad geronnen, Lampe hat nicht funktioniert) haben nicht funktioniert und wurden trotz Bitte nicht repariert. Insgesamt wirkte Einiges etwas vernachlässigt. Zudem war ein sehr unangenehmer Geruch in den Zimmern (evtl. aus Rohrleitungen kommend) und Lüften war aufgrund eingeschränkter Möglichkeit, Fenster zu öffnen, nur sehr eingeschränkt möglich.

Had a really lovely stay. The restaurant was really good for evening meals and breakfast! The food was amazing. The staff were also really lovely.

No doubt this was a fantastic hotel in its day, but just looks dated now. Definitely in need of sole TLC and modernisation

It's very tired & dated, it needs a huge upgrade. We had to report the same leak from our shower twice. The jacuzzi in the spa did nothing but produce a few underwater squirts, it was rubbish, a real let down. We were kept waiting till going on for 5pm till our room was ready & although they gave us a complimentary drink to apologise, I didn't want a drink, I wanted to be in the room in order to unpack, freshen up & head back out. We were held back from doing that

We told them the moment we checked in that the wifi is not working in our room..we told them everyday but still until we checked out wifi was still not working.

We loved the sea view(which obviously we paid extra for). Breakfast was very nice....buffet style. Breakfast room(s) have lovely sea views and plenty of windows. Free car parking is a good plus.

No public transport near the hotel, and getting a taxi in Newquay is almost impossible during the day for some reason? The hotel is in a lovely spot, but it is up a steep hill!! The "flow" of the hotel seems very haphazard. ie. The main doors are not really the main doors! You have to almost 'search' for reception. The swimming pool and associated area is very dated, and I thought some parts looked unsafe ie. no handrails to get out of jacuzzi, electric light fitting with wire, lead on the side of the pool!!! All in all, I would stay again if the price was right, but some upgrading and re-organising of the layout should be addressed.

The outdoor pool was shut with no prior warning.

Free parking on site. WiFi. Good shower pressure and bathroom facilities. Clean and comfortable bedding. Pleasant reception staff (after initial check in!) we asked for a fan as our room was really hot and reception member sorted it straight away. Sauna and steam room worked well although very small.

Miserable reception staff member at check in as we turned up early. Later than advertised check in time. VERY small balcony which is hard to use as the door opens outwards and separates balcony in half! Very small pool, sauna and steam room (sauna and steam only has a bench to fit maximum of 3 people at a squeeze. Jacuzzi has minimal power/bubbles… cheap blow up ones are better. Ran out of coffee at breakfast?! Dirty balcony. Poor electrics, some lights didn’t work. Peeling paint on ceiling. Overall the place needs a revamp. We paid more for a room with a balcony and were disappointed.

We really liked the size of the room, the bathroom, and how comfortable the bed was. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.We also really enjoyed the breakfast, with a great choice of items, as well as the lovely views from the table.We liked the spa facilities overall, although we felt there is some room for improvement, especially with the jacuzzi. The location of the hotel is absolutely top-notch, with amazing views and excellent access to beautiful walking paths. It was one of the highlights of our stay.

We didn’t like the lack of attention to detail when it came to maintenance and room upkeep. There were several issues, including broken blinds, a damaged chair seat, ripped curtain, the poor condition of the balcony. The balcony door was also difficult to open and close, and the mini fridge was not cooling at all but firdge was sorted the next day.We also noticed that the room amenities were not replenished during the room clean.We also noticed that part of the jacuzzi was broken. The spa pool was also being used by children who were screaming and jumping into the water, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the facilities. We feel that better supervision and clearer rules around appropriate behaviour would improve the overall spa experience.The quality of the toilet paper was very poor, and there was also no toilet brush provided in the bathroom. These are small details, but they would make a difference to the overall comfort and experience. The room was too hot, and unfortunately there was no air conditioning or even a fan provided to make the hot days more comfortable. This made it difficult to relax and sleep comfortably.

Wonderful stay, will visit again. Staff all super helpful, room clean, cocktails fabulous, view amazing, spa relaxing and quiet, breakfast good. The hotel has a faded charm and parts do need updating. Was made to feel most welcome with our dogs. Quiet surrounding beaches with town only a 5 minute walk away with great places to eat. Definitely recommend.

Lack of balcony!

Breakfast was good, location was good but at the top of a hill so may not be ideal for some. The hotel has alot of potential but is in need of upgrading. Pool nice but very odd changing facilities.

Beautiful location surrounded by the sea views. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Lovely food in the restaurant with helpful staff.

Restaurant location. It's on the wrong side. The breakfast restaurant has beautiful views in a stunning room setting. Then the restaurant is serving high quality food but you look out on a car park. It makes you go elsewhere. Oh and just one smaller and probably can't be helped the windows out to an amazing sea view in our room had big blobs of sea gul poop kinda ruining it.

There was no aircon in rooms and fans were in very short supply which made the rooms very uncomfortable to stay in especially with the weather being 25degress +. Had to ask 3times for a fan for my 80yr mother as her room was unbearable. Disabled access room and the bathroom windows were locked and as the bathroom floods when having a shower, had to use a lot of towels to soak up the water so my mum wouldn’t slip. Told by staff that it’s supposed to drain that way…..

Everything., was wonderful, food was good, room and view were stunning. Wish I could have brought the bed home with me it was so comfortable and the staff were amazingly kind and helpful.

The location of the hotel is great near to town, the harbourside and all the beaches. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The spa pool and hot tub are lovely and the outside terrace and deckchairs on the grass. Breakfast was nice. The view from the balcony was great (if you stood up). And the bathroom was massive. We stayed an extra night!

My only moan was the filthy glass on the balcony which meant sitting down you could hardly see through it. I asked to have it cleaned but no action. Was tempted to go and borrow a cloth and spray from house keeping! Same was true of the glass on the ceiling of the bathroom and in the breakfast room. Shame, but not the end of the world.

The fire door was very noisy when being used, first floor adjacent to the lift, it slammed shut with a bang which was annoying in the morning.

It’s in dire need of a renovation. The rooms are dated but I understand there are new owners and time is needed to get the place up to scratch.

The room was excellent because of the view of the Atlantic Ocean. The facilities were good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good and the view of the Atlantic Ocean from our table was brilliant.

The carpark was tight and not big enough for such a big hotel. The decor in the entrance lobby area is out of synch with the style and era of the hotel.

The staff at the hotel were amazing, I mean every single member. The breakfast was good and the bed was comfy with clean room.

The “Spa” was tired and had hair floating in the pool and jacuzzi. The room was supposed to be superior sea view but we had a view of the town (unless you hang off the balcony)

No Air conditioning in the rooms, but I got provided with a fan which helped while sleeping. But that’s more a me problem then the hotel. I’m very warm blooded

The room was larger than we expected with a lovely view accross the bay. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

A choice of hot breakfasts would be nice instead of just the traditional english breakfast. I think the lovely terrace at the back of the hotel should be made more comfortable with more tables and chairs as it is a wonderful place to relax and watch the sun go down.

Staff were all really good, very nice breakfast buffet style both traditional cooked and continental, lots of choice very tasty, views are stunning, hotel lobby etc very nice. this was booked for my girlfriends birthday we both had a lovely time and hopefully will return soon

unfortunately our bathroom was disappointing, the shower is very old, it takes a while to try and get a temperature where it doesn't burn it is so hot, you have to juggle with the taps to get a safe temperature, the shower door seal at the bottom is really dirty and needs to be replaced, and the radiator has rust on it, I booked a superior double room with sea views, but the bed was in fact two singles put together, room was a bit tired but we still enjoyed it, just replace/update bathroom, only 1 biscuit each was a bit mean i thought! I know it's under new owners so lets hope the bathroom gets a good update, we still had a good stay and would like to return

Hotel ma rewelacyjną lokalizację, z niesamowitym widokiem i świetnym dostępem zarówno do miasta, jak i do plaży Fistral. To zdecydowanie duży atut tego miejsca. Śniadanie było serwowane w świetnej lokalizacji. Restauracja była przestronna i wygodna, a jedzenie świeże oraz smaczne.

Niestety, standard utrzymania pokoju pozostawiał sporo do życzenia, przed odbiorem nie był dobrze odkurzony, a w trakcie pobytu nie został ponownie dobrze posprzątany. Dodatkowo prysznic w łazience miał problemy z regulacją temperatury wody. Uciążliwy był też brak klimatyzacji, który w ciepłe dni, przy nadmorskim klimacie, dawał się mocno we znaki, bo w pokoju robiło się duszno, a okna otwierały się tylko minimalnie. Pewnym minusem był również parking, spodziewałbym się wydzielonego, pełnego parkingu przy hotelu, a nie konieczności szukania miejsca na pobliskich uliczkach, gdzie o wolne miejsce nie zawsze łatwo.

I liked how close it was too Newquay town, not even a 5 minute walk. The pool and hot tub were amazing. A variety of breakfast options available. The staff were so friendly and polite. Definitely recommend.

The only negative thing I would say is the parking - it’s slightly tight with other cars.

Bardzo miła obsługa i oczywiście rewelacyjne położenie hotelu.

Mało komfortowy prysznic ( tylko mała deszczownica z brakiem ustawienia pod odpowiednim kątem nachylenia bez słuchawki). Brak półeczek do ustawienia kosmetyków i innych potrzebnych artykułów . Poza tym wszystko ok.

Staff are professional and accommodating even when short staffed. I love the location - which is very near the beach and provides a great view of the sea! Breakfast is also nice :)

Booked a stay here as we had a great experience 2 years ago, but the recent one has given me lots of doubts for booking any further stays. It’s end of July and the room did not have A/C and it was very hot despite an electric fan provided (room temperature not very conducive for a 12-week old). The TV was not working. The indicator light was just blinking but it did not display anything. I requested a cot for my 12-week old but there was no cushion on the one they provided. There was only a cardboard wrapped with a single sheet which I was not happy to put my baby in as it was just hard and you can feel the material underneath.

Die Lage auf dem Hügel über dem Strand ist sensationell. Man sieht, dass dieses alte Grand Hotel hier und da in die Jahre gekommen ist, aber es hat viel englischen alten Charme. Die Zimmer sind wunderbar geräumig!

Der einzige Aufzug funktionierte zeitweise nicht. Die Sauna war nicht angestellt, obwohl wir am Nachmittag schauten.
