The beds were comfortable
It’s very dated, windows didn’t open on some of them and it’s very old.
Inexpensive hotel very close to the waterfront in Great Yarmouth. Clean room with an excellent shower and comfy bed, and surprisingly quiet even though overlooking the strip (first weekend in September). A bit quirky, as you'd expect, but I would definitely stay here again for a non-work trip. Ample coffee, tea bags, and toiletries provided and the towels are big and soft.
Basic furnishings and the flooring (top floor) is a tad uneven but that goes with the age and style of the building. Wifi wasn't the best - it kept dropping - but phone signal is fine (unusual for Norfolk) so depending on your phone plan may be all you need. The room we stayed in didn't have a desk, so not optimal for a business trip, but absolutely fine for our short for-fun road trip.
Staff, always helpful
It was on the front!
The poo we found when we arrived. The place was shabby and smelly
Location
Beds exceptionally uncomfortable
The location was really good. Close to Sea Life which was on our list to visit as well as the circus and Britannia Pier. Staff were nice and helpful. Would stay again.
The car park isn't private so people would park in front of the hotel, we took around half an hour to find parking. The wifi wasn't stable so we'd always lose connection and we also didn't have any toiletries so we had to go ask in the reception.
EVERYTHING! ALWAYS GREAT!
As somewhere to stay for one night ok. Clean enough, bathroom ok, I believe all night reception but didn't need it. Location okish, opposite the sea life centre so quite a distance to walk to the pier area
The bed in my room was squeezed in under an arch, so potentially dangerous as easy to bang your head, which I did once during the night in the dark. Hotel is looking a little tired and a bit grimy in parts. Was only there fir ine night, wouldn't really stay any longer than that. A bit pricey at £50 fir the night, no breakfast, but was a Saturday night in the August bank holiday weekend.
Location was great and parking right outside the hotel was an added bonus. Check in was easy and having a fan in the room was good as was quite warm in the room.
hotel desperately needs a bit of TLC and the rooms needs a revamp, good job my weekend was action packed.

Was well situated
Was very dated tv didn’t work had to get shower repaired as was falling off wall
Location
The windows were glued shut, TV didn’t work, room was very hot and the room was shabby and tired looking, cleaning was undesirable too.
Welcoming staff, clean room, great location.
There was an issue with wifi signal on the 3rd floor.
Friendly helpfull staff, great location great room with seaview coffy bed 2nd time i have stayed and will again
Close to the sea
It was bit run down
The staff were lovely, had a nice chat about the history of the building. Bed was comfy.
It all just felt like it needed a bit of tlc. My room was pretty basic, signs of damp on the walls, TV did not work at all. Just a bit shabby really. But to be fair it was cheap !

Location
Very out dated and poor decorating
I loved the Jacuzzi and how friendly the staff was
The WiFi is not great In our room well at all really
Being near the seafront as it was just around the corner, having view of the road and attractions . We had room 308 and 313 which was just along the corridor .
Only having One seat to sit comfortably so had to sit on the bed . Not able to have breakfast as its only for the coaches . Not having enough hangers but just minor detals
That it was close to the beach
We didn’t sleep at all someone next door to us was having sex all night and all morning both nights woke my child up in the night and myself and I’m pregnant so find it hard to sleep as it is. They didn’t have a plug for the bath so had to shower my little one, the shower curtain was mouldy the carpet stunk of wee.
Location
Needs some TLC ,sofas very dirty
The locality to the sea front, large clean room with comfortable beds.
No breakfast served.
The carpet in bathroom was dirty and very run down
Poor wifi
Rooms need aircon but fan was provided. Extremely hot summer so not hotels fault.

Location Great,I came last year, the improvements to the hotel is very good, hopefully i will return next year, could do with some attention to housekeeping, furniture needs updating, but overall very good.staff were lovely and pleasant.
Needs housekeeping improvements, and bedroom furniture updating.
The member of staff at reception was polite and friendly.
The mattress on the bed has to be the worst I've ever had the misfortune to lie on, let alone try to get any sleep.
Location and friendly staff
Poor WiFi
The view was amazing, rooms was big enough, beds comfortable, staff were nice and even phoned me to say we had left the ipad behind and i said I would like a room with a big windows that open as i have heart condition ,he gave me what i asked for ,we would stay again .
N/A
Nothing. We have stayed at this hotel before and we booked again because it was reasonable with a bar where you could chat to other residents and it had a working restaurant where you could book breakfast if you wanted to and also an evening meal
There was nothing to like. When we booked it it stated it had a bar and a restaurant also posters saying it had live entertainment. The person on reception wouldn't take the keys back when you went out he just said keep them. Housekeeping came to our room to clean just before we were going out and never came back, floor tiles in the bathroom were loose, toilet roll holder was virtually hanging off the wall, wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom, the rail for getting in and out the shower was loose. We want a full refund as it was not worth the £160 for 2 nights that we paid. The bed was not particularly comfortable either. The advertising of the hotel is completely miss representing.
The hotel was as expected for a budget night away. Was disappointed there was no restaurant service. Staff were very accomodating and helpful. Beds were comfortable.
The bathroom had an unpleasant smell, but went after a while with the extractor fan on.
Location was perfect for a seaside holiday. Lovely crisp clean bedding. Nice big room
The door lock in the room was very fragile and felt as if it could easily be pushed open
It was very clea
It was all good
Propre, calme, l’emplacement
Un peu vieillot
Location and staff
Promised WiFi but didn’t work on 2nd floor
All was good
Third floor wifi not good
Friendly helpful staff clean room coffy bed with Seaview great location right on seafront will deffently stay again
Location
Bar not open every night and opening times not clear but this did not effect our stay
staff where polite
offered 2 rooms , first hadn't been cleaned , second room given wasn't cleaned either
Very good location, central to everything and clean and tidy
Could do with some repair works, very dated but you get what you pay for
Stayed in a lot of hotels over the last few months and your hotel had constant hot water prob the best bath ive had in ages I wanted to stay on but unfortunately you were fully booked i will at some point be back and will recommend to others .its like home from home 5 star rating from me thank you for your hard work it doesn't go unnoticed. X
Everything ... by pass the others head here u won't be disappointed clean tidy good location.
Friendly and polite staff good value for money
Needed updating
Hairdryer broken, table broken, lift extremely scary to use as it is unstable. Shower filthy with mould and limescale, it kept going hot and cold during use. Fan in room covered in dust. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I travel for work. Don't waste your money at this hotel.
Needs cleaning and fixing
Horrible place , stole things from my room and then said they had it they would send it back to me I give them adress and they never sent my stuff back
Horrible place , stole things from my room and then said they had it they would send it back to me I give them adress and they never sent my stuff back
Location
Bit shabby. TV was not working. Told reception and they it would definitely be done straight away but it never happened. I fixed the aerial lead myself.
The location was perfect, we got given the Nelson suite and it was very lovely! So big and spacious with a lovely view
the beach was great large and sandy
the room was small there was bird poo on the windows walls paper thin a bit run down needs updating from when we got there until we left there was a mattress at the bottom of a flight of stairs i had to tell hotel the move it grt yarmouth itself is run down too
Dirty. Broken tiles in bathroom, rust covering radiator in bathroom mold on grout / sealant. Bed uncomfortable, tv Ariel held together with so much tape. Tv had large cracks on screen, and tv reception awful. Tea and coffee not topped up throughout stay.
Most things really could have been better or improved. Drastically needs decorating. Paint over table
Location is perfect
This would have been an amazing hotel in its day. Unfortunately it now needs modernisation. Which would be uneconomical. Which is a shame
The Staff were very helpful and friendly. I liked that is was close to Sea Life, the big wheel and the shops. Lots of Restaurants and Cafes and of course Fish and chips shops. Very close to the Beach. The beach was very clean
The roo.m was quite small and old looking. The cold water tap made a crazy noise when turned on. I did not use the shower as very antiquated, too close to the door and not clean. Washed in the sink sideways as the windows were soo close to the window. The Internet was rubbish kept saying no digital connection. The entrance of the Hotel smelled bad as if they had never been cleaned or changed.
Perfect location, great value for money, very welcoming staff. Had a lovely overnight stay
It was clean and it had all the facilities required.
Nothing
To be honest it was like stepping back in time, I thought it was grate ! I assumes this hotel was built in the 50's And it still has that old character about it, and I liked that.. I just booked a room for one night, somewhere just to stay for the night, £60 was cheap enough.. we (me n the wife) were given the keys to a Suite.. (not just a bedroom), it just had loads of character about it.. Nice little bar area that wasn't overpriced, staff were great, .. it wasn't immaculate, but it wasn't dirty either. Listen, if you want modern, go find yaself a premier inn and pay double.. Or step back in time a bit and discover the Nelson hotel..
There wasn't anything I didn't like..
Location excellant..you can grab free parking outside plus paid options near by.. room had sofa and tea coffee reolebished each day and cleaned. Bathroom good. Big geiorgian windows onto front can see sea. Lift works.
Whikst genrally clean .sofa needed deep clean and small paint marks from deciroratng. Same on windows paint on glass each pain.. food served ionly for coach trips. ..
Large room, big TV although only a few channels were working, helpful frontdesk
The location
The staff weren’t the friendliest Decor was quite tired looking but clean Bed was a bit lumpy and harder on one side
Close to everything around
The place was in need of repair
Good value for money , and location to amenities
Bathroom was a bit dated but it was clean
Ours was a literally a last minute booking. The Nelson came up first in our search, £60 a room was a bargain, but we upgraded to £80 for a suite because we are a large couple and wanted a king-size bed. We could not have been more pleased. We were put in Lady Hamiltons Suite, large bedroom, even bigger bathroom (with big jacuzzi bath) and a separate lounge. It was amazing! So yes, like many Victorian hotels in seaside towns the place is tired in terms of decor and the bed was not the most expensive/newest we've slept on, but we slept really well and enjoyed our jacuzzi bath. The chandeliers gave an air of grandeur whilst the many plug sockets catered for our modern gadgets. The man on reception was lovely, and was there when we arrived and there when we left, the continuity was nice, although somewhat tiring for him no doubt. Would we return? Most definitely.
Nothing
Great location and good value for a last minute overnight stay, nice bar area although did not have breakfast in morning but I believed it's available from 8am
Only cards accepted in bar, but that was only issue I could find
The location was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful
It was a bit noisy in the morning when people was going down for breakfast but I can live with that.
Having never stayed at The Nelson Hotel before we wondered what we were in for. We'll the reception area was ok. Most of the downstairs was ok. We were then given our room 112. Within a couple of minutes that was changed to 211. All I say to folks avoid this room. It was atrocious. The photos I have posted shows what it was like. I'll say no more. The staff were good, the food was reasonable. The serving of the food was a joke, but at least we got served. All in all the Nelson Hotel was ok, but if your given room 211, refuse it. One other thing people were moved to the International Hotel, because they refused to stay at the Nelson, it included a Caledonian coach driver.
Local to the places l wanted to go
Smells of dogs
Hotel right across from beech I couldn't use carlton it was fully booked
Best bugs in room 102 I want a refund I'm yet to get something somewhere to help it hing it's awful legs back all over.obviously bed not clean dirty sheets who knows I call later when I'm not.busy
The parking and the pool table cloth was i believe changed as it was very grippy. The elevator.
Sadly this time the room was smelling like an old gym combined with a nursing home. The bathroom window has not been repaired for the past 4 years at least (there’s a piece of mdf instead of the glass). Beds were extremely uncomfortable.
Over all the hotel was nice .but the room was small room
Room far to small
A lovely warm welcome from Nicki for our 5 day stay organised by Caledonian travel 22nd- 26th. June 2026. The hotel is in need of updating however very clean but any sight problems found was soon attended to. No Complaints regarding food as both breakfast and dinner were lovely. My thanks for my birthday card and cake from the hotel to celebrate my 80th birthday it made my trip to Gt. Yarmouth.
Excellent location, clean but tired
Woke up several times with itch, not sure if it was a reaction with cleaning detergent used on sheets or some sort of bugs but at 3am I went downstairs to reception to decide the staff and they gave me a new room which was appreciated.
The manager and staff were brilliant and made our visit special. Nicola goes over and above in her duties to make all the guests feel welcome. The food was excellent and great service. Don’t expect 5 star luxury but it’s a warm friendly atmosphere and in a good location for a trip to Yarmouth
Bed bugs in rm 102 Tiles camming of in bathroom Towels behind toilet cistern
Bed bugs
Lovely nights stay for a family of three . We was put in suite 104 which was spacious , clean with a lovely view . Will definitely stay again because it also has a great location !

De nada
Hotel sem manutenção , durante a noite parte do tecto caiu , e ninguém se desculpou sequer......
No break fast
Nice and friendly staff, the room was very clean and comfortable
There wasn't anything that l didn't like
We have just checked out this morning from a fabulous 3 night break at this hotel. After being let down by another hotel we walked into the nelson and requested a double room with see view. They were able to accommodate and were very honest in letting us know of the bar opening times and no breakfast as only a few guests in. But after hearing of our previous experience with the other hotel the manageress advised we would be upgraded to The Nelson Suit. And wow! It did not dissappoint, full of charm with views from the Wellington to Brittania Piers. The staff were very friendly and happy to help couldnt ask for more. We will be making a return trip.
Lovely weekend stay that didn't break the bank. Beautiful clean room with lots of space. Stayed in Suite 104, had a beautiful view. Large bathroom, very clean. Furniture a little old but usable. Great night sleep. Staff friendly and happy to help.
