Exceptional cleanliness in all areas, friendly and efficient staff, great food and service, right on seafront, outstanding value for money.
Friendly staff, clean and decent breakfast
This was stated as a 3 star hotel, i would give it a 4 star. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent and very tasty. They kindly moved us from a room with shower to a room with a bath. Lovely fluffy towels. This hotel is very good value for money. There is only about 6 parking spaces at the hotel, although you are Allowed to park in the carpark across the road free of charge.
Room not ready on arrival. Didnt know tea tray was in a cupboard, found out when I commented at check out! .They could have told us or put a notice in room!
Our stay at this hotel ( staff/ cleanliness/ food ) was excellent in every way EXCEPT the room. Room 7 was cramped with old worn out furniture. The 'shower room' was the smallest I have ever seen. Sitting on the toilet your head is in the WHB!!!!! Iron marks on the carpet.......
Food excellent , quiet area but convenient for beach , shops and bars.
Staff were very friendly and food was good. Rooms were fine but curtains etc dated.
Liked bar and restaurant area close to town centre free parking
I had a good stay at the hotel but the room I was in needs some decoration as there was a stain on the carpet and walls need a paint. My evening meal was very good and would recommend m.
Great first experience for us in Scotland. Staff was very friendly. We’d come back.
Staff was freindly.Breakfast and evening meal was great.
The service was very good. Room comfortable. Breakfast fine. The electric plug on the iron was loose.
Really, really nice. Will definitely be going back.
Very good service and good value for money 💰
Very good
We were in Ayr for a family wedding and had arranged to meet family members for dinner so did not have the opportunity to dine in the hotel’s restaurant, however we had breakfast on two occasions and both times the food, service and staff were excellent. Internet access was ok, to was fairly basic and beds were extremely hard and lumpy
I have stayed at the Horizon a good few times and its always the same great wee hotel with lovely staff and very clean and reasonable priced
When booked not to be told there is attic rooms that the lift do not reach ! Then toilet broke and no other rooms left so had to travel home at 1230 at night with my 10 year old son who has disabilities
The room was, especially the en-suite in a poor state of repair. No toilet roll holder Toilet didn’t flush properly, did report it but nothing done about it. Bathroom door was split and warped from water damage The edge of the floor next to the skirtings was all worn with gaps which would make cleaning difficult and potentially unhygienic. Ceiling very slopped in bathroom and bedroom so a few bumped heads. Lots of rules pinned up, fine of £30 for clogging toilet with anything other than toilet paper, in the information book in the room it’s £50 Lobby/foyer/restaurant lovely and beautifully decorated. Breakfast amazing Waiting staff couldn’t do enough! Amazing location. I think we were just unlucky with our room, would stay again but not in a loft room
The hotels location is excellent. Our room was big enough for 2 adults 1 child and a dog. The decor could be improved in the room quite dated but overall we would come back again.
Great location, friendly helpful staff. Exceptional weather pleasant with the window open at night. Bit of noise from a couple of passers by in the street falling out after closing time, but overall I would definitely stay again with my 9 year old son. ❤️
I booked this Hotel as it claimed to have an electric car charger - it does not have one!
Was down with my grandson for two days the week before, I left my purse so decided to go down pick it up stay overnight, it is a lovely hotel, breakfast was delicious, rooms are lovely will definitely be back.
Easy check in nice room. Good breakfast
Food was very good with plenty to choose from on the menu, the room was clean but areas on furniture were tired and worn the bed was firm which was fine for our use
Rooms nice, big tv that worked! Bathroom spotless, very modern, good shower. Beds all clean white bedding, soft white towels. Room stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits daily.
Food was excellent, good value for money. Rooms a bit dated but was clean and pracrical, good location and easy parking.
Staff very acommodating, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel very clean and modern.
Great
Property is a beach front property however rooms are very dated and ours had a damp patch on the wall the floors were very creaky and noisy was woken during the night with someone either upstairs or next door going to the toilet from the ventilation fan. I couldn't get heater to turn on so room was cold by the time i noticed it wasnt working there was no staff around just the night porter. We returned to hotel around 10.45 pm and it was all locked up had to go round back to ring bell for night porter to let us in. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good
Night porter very helpful. Told us if needed anything to call
Staff great food not as good as it use to be
Two separate visits within a couple of days. The first time was fantastic and i would have given 5 stars all round. Check in was great, room was lovely. Unfortunately on our next visit a couple of days later check in was not so good, the man at the desk really didn't appear to know what he was doing, it took ages for him to find our booking and barely spoke to us during the process. We had a different room the second time and it was not so good, smaller and looked very tired especially the bathroom. Breakfast was great both times.
Good stay room could have been nicer staff were lovely
Beautiful room, nice staff, clean, lovely bar & outside dining area (short stay, so didn't sample the food apart from breakfast which was fine). Located right on the the beachfront & a 5-10min walk from the town centre. If disabled & coming from either station, get a taxi as it's about a 30 min walk. Lift to all floors of hotel. Only issues were someone setting off the alarm after 1am (smoker?) & some guests being noisy at 3.30am (but only about 10 mins) - post nightclub? Otherwise, great stay. Comfy bed. Good sleep. Beach wasn't too busy. Fabulously soft sand (beached jellyfish the only downpoint). Close to shops if you need anything.
One night stay, everything was great
Everything was ok for the night and the bed was very comfortable to sleep in
Hotel was ok , fairly dated in places but friendly.
Return visit, always friendly and helpful
The room was a bit small, but on the flip side it was on the ground floor,so no stairs to climb..but definitely not a complaint..
The staff were excellent, attended to anything required, the only issue I had was the shower pressure was very low.
This was not a good stay
My stay was amazing lovely hotel and very friendly staff great location. Will definitely be staying again
Friendly staff. Rooms clean. Restaurant excellent.
Great location and staff couldn’t do enough to help
Fab location
First class
I found my stays at Horizon very comfortable. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. The food in their restaurant is very good and the location is perfect for evening walks. Highly recommended!
Very good
We love this hotel, perfect, love the food and very friendly and helpful highly recommend xxxx
First class Hotel with excellent food, staff are friendly and wecoming and couldn't be more helpful.
Clean and nice wiew!
Well presented hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast and we liked the location.
Great location for beach and town. Room was a little basic and bathroom could do with an update. Breakfast was very good with friendly staff although have to pay extra to get a machine coffee! There is no parking on site although you get 5 hours free (within certain hours) at the adjacent car parks which are just next door.
Great hotel next to beach and shops
The staff at Horizon Hotel made our stay exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was so pleasant and professional. Our room was great, only complaint was pillows were very uncomfortable. Minor in the overall quality of our experience! Would definitely book here again.
Overnight stay with our 2 grandchildren. Warm welcome. Room was on 2nd floor and lift only went up to 1st. Room was tidy but bathroom not the best with dated shower area and unfortunately the shower head was broken . Breakfast was delightful which we all enjoyed.
Excellent location very clean friendly staff very attentive to us and our little dog highly recommended
Room and bathroom very small. It’s okay for one night stay
Good hotel, nice staff, clean room. Just small rooms. Had a great stay in Ayr
Friendly staff.. honeymoon suite
Overall the room needs an upgrade. No control over the heating in the room. Carpet, old shower curtain all look pretty disgusting. Had a nightmare with a loud ill mannered neighbour who had her TV blaring then a loud speaker phone call between 11am and 1pm. She slammed doors and overall had a stinking attitude. Night porter was very good but other than that everything is very average and I have stayed here 5 or 6 times before.
Was lovely hotel
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Horizon hotel. Absolutely spotless, excellent staff, and delicious food. Great location also. We will be back 😀
Stayed before and will stay again
Lovely hotel nice and quiet
needs some upgrade in bathrooms, broken sink etc
Room was rather small but comfortable and was extremely clean, the bathroom was lovely and had a corner bath which was excellent!! The cleaning staff and breakfast staff were lovely helpful and friendly. Food was great too.
loved the hole stay from the staff to the room and food
Would prefer breakfast to be buffet style, our table was positioned right at the cereal and fruit, which meant everybody was looking straight at us while having breakfast, bit uncomfortable, Also had to request baked beans with my full English which should be included in the English, bar was closed at 11 not ideal when your wanting a drink
I arrived late on the first evening, but they were able to offer food, which was good. As I had to leave early on both days I didn't have the breakfast, though on the 2nd morning I was able to have toast and cereal before I departed. The room was in the gods but spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located by the sea front. I would stay there again if I'm in the area.
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Although we did not have dinner in the restaurant. We have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Well done
Very good
The hotel is right across from the gorgeous beach. I was in one of the older, non-refurbished rooms (reflected in price) but it was clean and bed was very comfy. The refurbished rooms look beautiful, so I’d go for one of them next time. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Really fresh fish and massive portions. Staff were all lovely and friendly. I would recommend.
Room did not look like photos on website, no heating in rooms, very cold, and additional fee for breakfast when we already paid extra when booking
Great stay, we were visiting family in Ayr and needed a dog friendly place to stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean with no skimping on the teas/coffees/milks! Breakfast was lovely, continental buffet followed by a la carte cooked, also a sausage in a bowl nicely chopped for our dog. Would definitely stay again.
It does a job, but be warned a family suite is actually a cramped small room with three beds tightly packed in with very little space between them and restricted head height, up several flights of stairs. The room was clean but very tired, and the floor had holes in that you could feel as you stepped on them. Fortunately there was only two of us, but if we had had children with us it would have been a nightmare. As it was I hit my head on the sloping ceiling, trying not to bump into my husband, and spilt burning coffee on my hand and bed. Don't expect to get any breakfast if you are catching an early ferry to Arran, at 7.15am it was difficult to even get an apple! However all the staff were very friendly and there was ample coffe and tea supplies in the room. Overall for the price it was ok.
We stayed here with the kids and our fur baby to see the Air Show; the staff were so helpful and friendly; the room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was delicious. Had a great time and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area: it’s right at the shore and only a 20 minute walk to the main shops and train station
Staff very pleasant. We were in attic rooms where we had to climb a lot of stairs.
Nice comfy bed. Good shower. Friendly staff. Lovely tempura but not so good french fries.
good stopover spot, but room size limited. Comfortable & clean, v decent breakfast
We have stayed many times at this hotel and it never disappoints us. lovely bar and social areas. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff.
The property was old and had character. The options for food and entertainment were a bit limited due to it being Sunday and raining sideways.
This hotel is in a perfect spot. It’s across from a nice boardwalk to walk the sea. The restaurant is lovely. The staff are so nice and helpful. Zoe is a lovely employee. All the staff are wonderful.
We had an amazing 2 night bed and breakfast stay. Location is opposite the beach with a lovely outdoor sitting area. Lounge and bar areas to chill in. We had room number 10 - absolutely loved it, ground floor could not see the sea but facing it. Had our own little door to the outside where we had a bench fir 2! Staff super helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Not fancy but very comfortable, affordable, great views of the ocean, and the staff is excellent. I highly recommend
Reasonably nice hotel, good location, easy parking, room clean & comfortable.
Fine
Tiny claustrophobic room. Uncomfortable bed with hard pillows. Skid mark in toilet not cleaned. Not impressed
The hotel is value for money, excellent food, Tracy the duty manager and her staff go well and beyond to ensure that you experience a fabulous time , We can't wait to return Thanks for all 2 John's
This place has more signs then the highway code! Don't do this don't do that, you'll be fined for this you'll be fine for that. Receptionist was abrupt On getting to the room the stench of 1980s aerosol airfreshner was so over powering i opened the window and left the room to work from the bar area. 10pm back in the room or still smelt awful Again found now signs in the bathroom on the hotel rules and charges you will face. I did eat in the bar and the food was average not terrible but the bar man was more friendly Was glad of the hot shower as i felt like it's slept in a bowl of potpourri all night, didn't take the breakfast as i wanted fresh Cheam smelling air
Rooms in the picture does not represent what it really looked like
Small room. Draughty window which didn't shut properly. Adequate accommodation for one night stay. Reasonable breakfast cooked to order.
The staff were absolutely lovely. They were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. There were some bits, that could do with a little touch up, but otherwise it was great. A lovely quiet hotel, a minute from the beach.
The views to Arran ,close to shops, comfortable rooms ,welcoming lounge and bar area
Great that hotel was on the sea front . Our room had a sea view and couldnt fault the hotel or staff really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again
Lovely hotel staff all very friendly.
Close to the beach and a short walk into the town.
right at the front of the beach
Just want to say that both the hotel and our room were great. The bedroom was clean and very comfortable. The reception sitting area and the restaurant/bar were both stylish and inviting. We didn’t have dinner but did have breakfast, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. Overall a superb overnight stay.
