Lovely hotel and really good breakfast
Great location. Lovely helpful staff. Good size bedroom. Ample parking with fast ev charging. Restaurant staff lovely. Food good.
Everything was good except full English breakfast was not hot enough.
Wonderful atmosphere with helpful, friendly and professional staff. Facilities second to none.
Nothing
The best part of this hotel was the staff who were very helpful. The bedroom was comfortable. The leisure area was a nice facility though we thought the tiles needed upgrading in the pool.
Our biggest dislike was the size of the Main during dinner. We would both have had a main and dessert but had to have a discussion with staff regarding my meal. We know all about nouvelle cuisine but the portion of fish and samphire in a brown shrimp sauce (£36) that was given was extremely small. I was offered some extra vegetables (which did not come included) but my sauce was cold by the time they came. I then was offered more sauce but the whole thing took so long we decided not to have dessert. We did get a reduction on my meal but the episode means that we could not recommend the meal. My husband had lamb with cottage pie which was adequate but the amount of lamb was also very small and neither of us are big eaters!

Breakfast was exceptional and very quick and friendly service. Michelle was amazing and the quality of food was superb. There was a very good choice from the hot breakfast options.
Room comfortable and quiet
Very
I’m biased as I got married here 18 years ago, but the hotel and grounds are beautiful. What sets this place apart though is the genuine warmth and hospitality provided by the exceptional staff.

Lovely hotel, we would like to stay longer
Unfortunately due to Bank Holiday facilities like gym opened later than usual as we could not use.
Beautiful property, excellent location, room was comfortable and very clean, fantastic and hardworking team at Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa, great food!
Would have been perfect to have children allowed in the pool til 12pm as 8-11am was not quite so relaxing to get up and have breakfast, go to the pool etc felt a-little rushed and no lie in.
Staff were so accommodating and friendly.

WE BOOKED A JUNIOR SUITE FOR TWO DAYS AND WAS UP GRADED TO A SUPERIOR JUNIOR SUITE, WHICH WAS LOVELY
SLIGHT NOISE FROM THE ROOM OUTSIDE AS IT WAS THE KITCHEN
Top hote with hreat facilities hearty breakfast included l, wonderful staff too..
Nothing
The location of the hotel the staff were excellent food good leisure facilities were good 10 minute walk into Newmarket ,25mins into Cambridge which is a lovely city
We were in room 116 heard a constant air con unit or extractor working reported it to staff to look at
Location and feel about the llace
Checkout at 11,having to pay for a yoga class
Very stunning and beautiful hotel. Comfy beds. Wonderful breakfast and staff very attentive. Great location. Use of the health suit during our stay
All perfect
The property was beautiful!
I didn’t like the gravel parking lot. It was hard to roll our luggage. The staff was not overly friendly at the reception desk. I called for a late check out, and the desk clerk had to get permissions and call me back. I think she forgot because my husband went to the front to desk to ask and she still hadn’t asked her manager yet and it was a half hour later. They did approve and extra hour but when I went to the room after breakfast, I was locked out.
Breakfast excellent 🌟
The hotel was immaculate, the gardens were perfect and the general upkeep appeared spot on.
All good.
Facilities
Rooms (junior suite) very spacious and comfortable. Staff helpful. Meals all excellent but expensive.
Nothing.
Smart surrounding. Good lunch and breakfast. Nice grounds and room.
Its very expensive for a one night stay. Lovely as it is its a little over priced. Our room was £280 for one night which means i am unlikely to book again.
Location for Newmarket races.
The rooms need an update, especially the bathroom.
THE PLESANT FRIENDLY SMILE FROM RECEPTION STAFF.
We had to wait over 30 minutes to receive our drinks on the patio and over 45 minutes for food which we had to cancel as we had a taxi booked. The drinks and food took way to long. The staff were nice enough just very very slow to serve. Breakfast was nice although orders that were written done were not delivered correctly with basic elements like sausge missing from plates, no mushroom when extra requested etc etc. For this reason I wouldn't book this hotel again
The staff and facilities the grounds
Bedroom was dated and I was a little disappointed. The bathroom floor tile had grout missing which could lead to cut feet and black mould in the tiles around bath.
The breakfast was very good. Lovely room the breakfast was served in and staff very friendly.
Nothing everything was perfect.
Comfortable beds. Good breakfast choice
Nothing
Breakfast was great. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was lovely, and a wonderful surprise.
Quite loud jazz music playing in the bar, and restaurant during dinner and breakfast . It was intrusive and had the ambiance of Lift Muzak.
The whole experience beautiful hotel
Terrace lovely for food and drink
Restaurant inside very dark and dowdy very poor bar area for socialising thank goodness for the terrace
Great facilities and immaculately presented.
Location is excellent.
Lovely grounds, and location.
Our plug in the bath was forced down and shut, and we had to call up twice to get someone to fix it. When trying to sort ourselves the twist part of the plug in the bath just came apart in our hands. Also waiting for 1.5 hours for a main course is unacceptable, as well as when the fillet steak turned up, mine was cooked well done instead of medium and appeared to have been sat in a salt bath.
Great location great staff and rooms are comfortable
Nothing
Friendly staff, gorgeous rooms, great facilities, clean room, loved the fridge with milk and water in the room. Even had ironing board, iron, safe etc.
Fabulous as always
They always put prices up when Newmarket races are on
Room comfortable and cool in the heat, staff were very helpful at all times was an enjoyable stay
Room in new block, excellent although air con leaked and couldn't be fixed during our stay but we were given a subtantial refund which we didn't have to ask for.
Outside service a bit slow at times. One starter (ceviche) was a ridiculously small portion and not cold enough. Otherwise the food was excellent.
The staff were polite. The grounds were well kept.
The menu in the restaurant was limited and the food took a long time to prepare. It didn't have much flavour and was disappointing for the price.
Comfortable room, very quiet.
On arrival we stood being ignored by both staff on reception. They were dealing with an admin issue but an acknowledgement would have been appreciated. Staff in restaurant at breakfast again ignored guests waiting to be seated, one waitress in particular didn't say a word to us despite thanking her and trying to engage. Total confusion with bar staff, I was told they didn't have one wine on the list or the second I chose, then another barman brought over the first.
Everything. Rooms spacious and clean. Staff polite and friendly lovely grounds, great breakfast
Staff super friendly and helpful Hotel is very relaxing and clean Perfect location for when you go to the races
Nothing
The room was lovely and we were upgraded to a suite as it was our wedding night. The facilities were excellent and our wedding meal was excellent. Staff were attentive and professional.
The breakfast service was poor and it took an hour to get served.
Lovely Building, good rooms, gym facilities. Good location.
Just the attentiveness of waiting staff over Sundays breakfast. Highly inefficient and we were left waiting to be seated, didn’t take our order, got the order wrong, and generally poorly managed. If it wasn’t for this, the Lodge would be an 8/9.
Nice location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable
Food and beverage service was slow and poor. Breakfast was a 25 minute wait for coffee and when breakfast arrived it was missing most of the choices. No point in complaining to the staff, as they were rushed and too busy.
The bed was comfy / pool was nice and staff were friendly
I stayed in room 123 -could t use the bath due to the plug would t secure The breakfast experience was so poor - crowds of people not enough tables it was loud and parts of our food was sent back as was over cooked - clearly the hotel was over subscribed and this impacted quality and the experience we usually have. I felt sorry for the staff in the restaurant who were clearly under pressure
Our room and all of the public areas were immaculate, the gardens beautiful.
Nothing
Nice building & grounds. Restaurant & bar staff were friendly. Great location for Newmarket racecourse.
We were woken at 2:30am by the fire alarm going off in error. Latte cost extra at breakfast which is very poor form after we paid £370 for one night in a standard room. Receptionist at the pool was very unfriendly, told us off for not bringing our own towels (we were not told this at main hotel reception) and pointed out we had to leave by 11am.
it was ok or a 2 night stay
cost of drinks and breakfast room was a litte cramped
Great location, friendly staff, excellent food, clean, comfy bed, really enjoyed the luxury.
The hotel was extremely comfortable and clean and the staff were excellent
The pool and spa were a bit old fashioned but more than pleasent The aircon machines outside were noisy
Good location for the Newmarket Races. Stroll from the hotel to the horse gallops. The facilities good and staff very helpful.
Nothing.
Bedford lodge is a great place to stay and ideal for the race’s
We stayed and went to the race’s but like other guests we had to go out of the hotel to watch the football which is very disappointing We would have eaten and stayed for drinks if the football had been screened. We only slept and had breakfast which was not good value for money. We met other staying guests out watching the game.
having just returned from Porto where our hotel in the city centre cost half the price we were somewhat disappointed by the buffet breakfast quality.
Breakfast is included in the room rate but on weekends an extra 4 pounds is charged for hot chocolate...instead of coffee.
Initially had a problem with the Suite which was then resolved the next day by moving us to a more appropriate suite. Food was very good and the staff were good.
Exceeded expectations
Nothing
Air con, breakfast, pool.
Kept getting locked out of room and difficult to get fresh towels. Bathroom dated.
Very good
Staff on the terrace needed to be more alert and attentive
It's a very beautiful property with a lovely swimming pool
The local shopping centre isn't great, but there is more than enough reason to stay in the hotel.
Staff and breakfast great
Had to pay for a latte at breakfast which seems unnatural for a quality hotel. Just looked bad going up to pay for a latte in front of everyone at breakfast ! Had the same last time we stayed so obv the hotel thinks a latte is special.
An excellent, clean, and incredibly relaxing break. The hotel is spotless, the atmosphere is completely peaceful, and the breakfast is absolutely fantastic. If you are eating out in Newmarket, I highly recommend checking out Turkoman for superb Turkish food or Thai Street Cafe which was delicious.
Location, looks nice
The rooms air conditioning needs a upgrade. Staff where rude and not helpful
Beautiful grounds and air conditioning in bedrooms
Nothing
Breakfast was lovely
Aircon in room Excellent food
Nothing
Beautiful location.Spacious room.Aircon & fridge were a bonus, especially this time of year! The staff were extremely helpful.
Rooms had everything, especially like the heated towel rails and how mirror did not fog up,AC great also
No complaints
Loved it! Spacious grounds with a sunny patio for drinks and meals. Close to town centre. Within walking distance of restaurants in the town. Car parking on site. Our bedroom was fully air conditioned which was a great relief since it was such a hot few days. Our bed and bedding was gorgeously comfortable. The decor was pleasant and every attention to detail had been thought of.; tea pot, coffee pot, fresh milk in the fridge. The bathroom was spacious and felt luxurious. The breakfast was delicious with good service. Again attention to detail made this experience feel special.
Loved it!
The hotel area outside ,Restaurant was great . Room was clean. staff service good . breakfast was ok . view was ok.
Bedroom furniture, colors and quality of bed wasent great and NOT very relaxing . So for what was paid for wasent that worth . pictures show deferent rooms . we did love the time away though.
We really enjoyed our one night stay. The food was excellent and the staff were all very attentive without being intrusive. Looking forward to a return visit.
Beautiful period property, in beautiful surroundings, in great location very close to the high street & countryside
Nothing the property was excellent
Stayed before. The location, facilities and spa are exceptional
Not a negative as such but felt the staff in bar/ restaurant could do with some training and support with leadership front of house. There seemed to be no system but couldn’t fault their friendliness
Lovely position, lots of parking
Felt a little cramped in dining area for breakfast, disappointed fruit at breakfast wasn’t fresh but they use frozen berries/strawberries
Beautiful property.
No late check out option available - we stayed ahead of a wedding and we were planning on using the pool in the morning and the getting ready before leaving at 1pm. We were fully prepared to pay for an extra couple of hours for a late check out but were told this wasn’t an option. Shame. Also had to pay for coffees at breakfast even though we had paid to include breakfast. Coffee other than filter coffee is not included with breakfast.
Our stay at was a lovely weekend break the breakfast was very good and all the facilities meet our expectations, the room was lovely very clean The treatment in the spa amazing
The evening meal the steak a little chewy and the lodge chips some a little hard
Our room was lovely. And very clean
Ein hervorragendes Schwimmbad bot die nötige Abwechslung auf der Reise. Ausstattung, das freundliche Personal und die gute Küche passten ebenfalls sehr gut zu einem Urlaub.
Facilities were good along with dinning room and food.....bedroom was good
Stop adding a service charge for absolutely everything.....also our suite bathroom was dated with heating on max and could not be turned down even after reporting it to reception twice
This is a lovely hotel, that I have visited a couple of times before. It's located close to Newmarket, which is a nice, small town to explore, and the relatively newly built National Horseracing Museum is a great place to spend half a day, with lots to see and do. The food at the hotel was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. The only disappointment was that I had booked for myself and 2 female friends to enjoy the facilities there (one of us was celebrating a 60th birthday), but hotel guests were not allowed to use the nice, modern spa facilities without pre-booking a slot, at a considerable extra expense. I did not realise this before I booked, so it could perhaps be made me clear on the website/booking platforms. Other than that, we had a lovely weekend.
A lovely hotel, nice and expensive suite overlooking the training grounds for race horses. Some beautiful roses outside, making the seating area very pleasant during good weather. The food in the restaurant was really good, so ate there twice. Breakfast was quite good but was lacking some healthy and tasty options that are available in hotels on the continent. Service a bit amateurish at times. The pool was nice and not too crowded. Nowhere convenient to plug a charger or hairdryer, only behind the tv set. The bathroom was too hot, heating on full all the time, even in 30 degrees outside. Required some more thorough cleaning especially around the toilet seat. Would have benefited from a shelf for toiletries below the sink, the space was there. Other clientele very casual despite invitation to dress smart casual. Not the fault of hotel. For the price we were charged for room nr. 1 we expected more.
The restaurant has two AA rosettes. When will it be awarded the third that it deserves. The room, second largest on offer at the hotel, was spacious and comfortable
We travel around the country staying in 8."high number" Booking.com scored properties. Bedford Lodge does not belong in the group. NO LATE CHECK OUT. Not even on Sunday. In a couple of decades of high end hotels this caught us by surprise. By 11:40am the hotel manager was at our door despite having half loaded our car. The polite offer to help would have been better expressed by leaving a trolley outside the door at 11am and letting us get on with it rather than this veiled eviction. When I asked about late checkout it was unavailable but when our car crash breakfasts were reported a free late checkout was offered as compensation. Its suggested that these problems are top down. It is felt on arrival feeling like an inconvenience and on departure as if squatters had vacated. We're quite local but will no longer be regulars at the excellent restaurant thanks to the bad taste left from staying at the hotel. The hotel is the only one in its quality in the immediate Newmarket Races vicinity. This has either bred complacency or if it is top down - please sell up to someone who wants to be hospitable. If you don't have to stay near Newmarket - look a little further into Suffolk or try the excellent Doubletree or University Arms in Cambridge.
Quiet, very clean, good parking
Service a bit ragged, no pleasant place to sit during the day, poor garden
The staff were delightful, helpful and friendly
Walking to the swimming pool with poor signage . Had to get some help
Last minute booking, excellent stay. Pleased to see an electric car charger
Nothing
We visited as a family of 3 for one night as birthday surprise, we had two rooms with the doors between the them both opened. I arrived to a plate of fancy treats for my birthday, which was a lovely gesture. We had access to the pool, gym, sauna and steam, although our 13yr old was only able to use the pool from 8am-6pm which was fine for us. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We had breakfast included which was lovely. All staff were friendly, overall a lovely stay, we are planning to go back in August for our anniversary.
Great staff, clean rooms fab air conditioning in the heat.
Staff and air conditioning
Beautiful setting, immaculate gardens. Hotel itself is lovely, with lush REAL healthy plants. Attention to detail is spot on.
Nothing
Stayed in suite 4 for one night. Lovely room, very clean. Dinner was ok, except very little choice for gluten free. Very unhappy to be woken at 6.30 on Saturday morning by the Camplings laundry delivery that arrived underneath our window and took an hour to unload. Incredibly loud and no consideration for the guests. Breakfast very good but watch out for the extra charge if you order a latte
It's a really nice hotel with a lovely terrace, friendly, helpful team, comfortable rooms, quiet and easy to park.
Great location, good grounds, restaurant is very good, staff were amazing
Lack of power points beside bed,had to take pay extra for gym classes and specialty coffee ie cappuccino, check out is 11am which is earlier than most hotels
Best spa experience I have ever had. An engagement gift from my friends. Thanks for making it such a special day :)
The facilities were excellent. We loved and used the pool and gym. The breakfast was superb. Staff were highly professional and helpful. All in all this is an exceptional hotel.
Only the coffee at breakfast.
Enjoyed room nice size plenty of light.
Breakfast was a disappointment mainly the mains. My wife had egg Benedict it is was cold we even googled afterwards to check if it was supposed to be served cold which it isn't. We didn't complain mainly because we had to leave early as we were due in Newmarket to meet a tour guide at 7.45am just didn't the hassle of waiting and making a fuss !!!!!
Very clean
Clean, comfortable, great location and excellent food in the bar. Love that it’s in the heart of Newmarket and surrounded by racehorses. Also, plenty of free parking.
Nothing I don’t like - it’s my go-to place to stay when I’m in Newmarket
