2 floors of stairs with no lift. Very basic facilities. Old decor, chipped paintwork, very small rooms. Extremely noisy from bar entertainment that was on till early hours of the morning. Mattress very old and uncomfortable.

The website states it closes at 00.30 but they were still blaring out music and last orders still hadn’t been called at 1.15am . The sound was coming through the floor and the ceiling light was vibrating. The bathroom ceiling is water stained and I couldn’t make the shower work . No phone in room to connect with reception had to use mobile to ask how long music was going to go on until . Eventually noise stopped by 2 am and at 6.30 a large machine started up next to my window . So we left at 9am exhausted and didn’t even have the breakfast as we had no faith in the quality of the food service

Pub was nice with good food, bedrooms clean and fresh.

Bedrooms were basic, DJ on with music blasting out until 1.30am. Unable to sleep.

We asked for a quiet room and instead was put on the front of the hotel in a room what was very noisy all night long

Room and bathroom were good size. Linens were clean. Clean toilet, sink and tub. Iron provided upon request - thank you!

Furnishings, walls, paint looked run down. Water stains on bathroom ceiling, peeling wallpaper, The only surface to rest items was a small bedside table that was partially painted and looked like something found by the side of the road. No lamp - either all ceiling and wall lights could be on or off. Walls were dingy and a bit stained and the window did not close fully. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that the door did not lock from the inside. Neither the deadbolt nor the chain were functional so I had to block the door with my luggage. I did not feel safe and so did not sleep well, so i was tired heading to my morning meetings in Newmarket. I will not stay there again but the fixes to make the room safe, comfortable and pleasing are not difficult or costly, so it was disappointing.

The room was super hot, they provided fans but they weren't adequate and not enough plug sockets so they would reach you when in bed. The noise from the pub and outside went on late and loud meaning sleep was near impossible until the early hours of the morning .

The staff are very friendly and efficient. The range of alcoholic and soft drinks is good. Accommodation was reasonably priced as was the very tasty breakfast. Took a while to arrive but I don't mind that as obviously freshly cooked. Fruit juice, cereal and plenty of tea and coffee to serve yourself. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and it was very large and spacious with a chair, dressing table and plenty storage. Bathroom was very clean with a bath and shower. After racing we returned and enjoyed a live band and DJ till 1AM

The road outside is a little noisy first thing but to be expected in the location and didn't spoil our stay.

Check in lovely, teeny tiny room, but lovely and clean. Good bed linen and towels, very comfy bed. Very nice all in all. Chris, superb, very professional and extremley helpful and welcoming. Needed a bit of TLC re the paintwork up the stairs and landing. Youngsters on shift on the Sunday afternoon, busy chatting amongst themselves; clearly not interested in engaging with any customers. When placing my food order, I was made to feel like I was really disturbing them! Maybe a training issue.

Communication before and during was perfect. Information upon arrival was perfect. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent, in service, choice and quality. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Not greeted with much warmth or friendliness. Scruffy decor everywhere, all up the hall, along the corridores and in our room. Roasting hot and were put in a tiny room with one small high up window and a small fan that did nothing, no air con, it was stifling and unbearable. Breakfast was a shambles, poor choice, stale bread, no coffee left, no orange juice left, anything out was not covered and there were potential flies around. Ordered sausage and mushroom sandwich, long wait then when arrived there was ONE mushroom spread across 2 slices of stale bread. My husbands full English was lousy. We had booked 2 nights but had to leave after 1 night we couldnt have.coped in that tiny room again with no aircon. Was told i would get a refund for the night we cancelled but i am still waiting for this despite numerous messages sent via Booking.com and direct to the Hotel. We are not ones to complain at all, we have always had great - fabulous stays in all our previous bookings (and there have been alot) but this was not good at all and we were so disappointed.

They should not be selling rooms on a Friday and Saturday night. The large downstairs becomes a night club with thumping music playing until 00 30 and affects all the rooms. Mine was directly above loud sound system. I asked for my money back and they said I need to claim from Booking.com

Noisy disco in the bar until around midnight and VERY hot room. It was a very hot day unfortunately and I would expected there to be fans supplied in the bedrooms but as there was not this made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep.

Getting to the room was first hurdle lots of stairs and doors and narrow very hot corridors to go through and all was dark, dingy and the handrail to get to the second floor was very low. The room was exceptionally hot and the one window that opened did not blow breeze into room only the small area it was in there was a fan but that did nothing and felt like was going to fall apart Bathroom was like a sauna no window and an extractor that came on only with the dim light, no hand rail by bath. Bed was comfortable and clean but the room looked dirty with chipped paint and the carpets could be cleaner The noise was horrific from the high street and shutting the window meant you couldn’t breathe because of the heat there is a night club on other side of road that closes at 3.30 on a Saturday so the noise from people coming going fighting meant no real sleep until about 4-4.30 Spent as much time out of room as possible due to how hot it was

It was in a convenient place for our needs.

There were long delays on the M25 and even though book in was ok until 23.00 we tried on three occasions to call ahead to let them know the situation and were still on our way. When we arrived the place was in darkness and we met another couple in the carpark who had the same issue. The emergency mobile number stuck on the door went straight to voicemail on the numerous occasions both we and the other guests tried it. After hammering on the door for a considerable time a staff member eventually - who looked like he had just got out of bed, as he came down the stairs adjusting his clothing - came and opened the door. The reception was stiflingly hot. When we asked why the place was closed we were told ‘the person must have left early! Not very professional to go home early when there were still two sets of guests outstanding and also have nobody to answer the emergency contact number. We stayed in Room 3 which has definitely seen better days, the paintwork is chipped and the rest of the decor and furnishings are grubby and outdated. The bedding and towels were clean and the bed was comfy. The cleaner was friendly. The shower had mouldy grout but there was plenty of hot water. This would surely make it easy to clean away? We had paid for breakfast and in the morning made our way to the ‘restaurant’. It was hard to tell who the staff were as all we could see was a group of people standing around one of the high tables drinking. Nobody greeted us on arrival and there were no other guests at the time. The breakfast had obviously been pre-cooked and my fried egg was like a bullet! The outside seating at the hotel is also shabby, a coat of varnish on the tables and a good sweep of the area would do wonders. So sad to see the deterioration of this place. The price we paid for the accommodation was definitely not cheap and we expected and I believe we’re entitled to better accommodation and service. Definitely not good value for money or a pleasant experience.

my colleagues said nothing

My colleagues advised it was the worst stay they have had, no fans in the rooms, rooms over the kitchen with heat rising into the room, and no cold water in the room, so they could only clean their teeth with hot water 3 of my colleagues could not stay as it was too hot, breakfast was not included, and the price of the room was over the top, for what they got, we could have a lovely stay at Millom's for that cost, our General manager was so disappointed the website gave a different picture

Location was excellent for what we wanted, room was disappointing, could have done with some tlc, it was very hot when we stayed there & we appreciated the fan they left in the room, shame the windows couldn’t be opened. Also no hot water on the day we left.

Rooms need an upgrade Windows didn’t open and the room was uncomfortably hot. The bar (which was good) stayed open until 2 am. We weren’t informed. We were celebrating an 80th birthday as a family and you can imagine how that went down when everyone retired to bed with the music pumping.

Parking was good and free on checking in - a huge bonus nowadays!! The bedroom was a reasonable size with comfy bed and linen. The ensuite had a bath - always enjoy a good soak! Location was perfect for my purposes

The shower over the bath only had a static rain head and turning on the bath taps risked a soaking depending on what the setting had been left on as access was tricky due to shower screen panel. The shower head got me! It is a noisy hotel bar below with music. Fortunately I stayed on a Sunday when it closes early at 10:00 so no night problem but it started early at 07:30 for breakfast with beats flowing through from beneath. Creakiest corridor floor I've ever heard.

In need of a makeover. Windows need attention. Extremely noisy on Friday night which we weren’t warned about before our stay. Breakfast food was good with generous portions but lacking presentation on the buffet. Toaster didn’t work.

There is nothing to like about this cesspit.

Building is dated and very creaky, you can hear every step, every door shut. Receptionist is not equipped with basic people`s and organisational skills. Even though we had late checkout, he managed to book someone in so threatened us to remove our belongings. Lucky we called to advise the traffic jam and that we might be a but after midday. Late checkout was comfirmed for until 1pm. Carpet was dirty. Walls are dirty with paint missing at places. Duvet was dirty with several coffee stains. Accordingly the welcome card, it was cleaned by 2 operatives, without any visible result. Bathroom is mouldy. Bathroom taps are so close to the wall, you really struggle to close them. Window is paper thin, does not keep any noise out. You can even heart he wind gently blowing. Water temperature fluctuates so you constantly had to adjust. There was a DJ playing at the pub blasting music so loud, even the bedframe was shaking. This was not advertised on the social, which is a huge misled as most guests would not want to sleep on the top of a disco.

There was no soap in the bathroom, no tissues, just little touches that hotels should provide. No lamps in the room, no drawers in the room, cupboards that you couldn’t even reach. Everything was dated and looked it. No phone in the room. looked short staffed. We left and entered several times during the day and not one person did we see on the reception desk. The stairs were a nightmare. Need a lift!

It was very busy and it took a while to be seen to on arrival. Room décor and paint quite dark green and a bed with a very simple mattress. It was a loud evening with DJ until 1 am, which I was told about on arrival. Luckily I was very tired and managed to get to sleep with some earplugs.

Wir waren über dem Gastraum untergebracht, wo Samstag eine Party mit sehr! lauter Musik bis 1.00 Uhr stattfand. An Schaf war bis dahin nicht zu denken. Das Personal war nicht sehr freundlich. Den Toaster früh mussten wir selbst einstecken, doch die Steckdose war defekt. Das Frühstück war sehr!! übersichtlich. Nach einer Woche bekamen wir einen Brief von der Autovermietung, dass wir eine Parkgebühr über 60£ plus eine Bearbeitungsgebühr von 50£ bezahlen sollen. In der Beschreibung des Hotels steht, dass das Parken von Hotelgästen kostenlos ist. Dies bestätigte uns auch die Rezeptionistin, dass das Auto für eine Nacht kostenlos auf dem angrenzenden privaten Parkplatz stehen kann. Und dann die Mahnung!! Für junge Leute ok, die gern feiern. Aber sonst kann ich das Hotel nicht empfehlen.
