Very clean hotel. Friendly staff.
.
The room was fine and had some cool tech controls, but it was too small—no coffee machine, no water cup, just a bed and a bathroom.
Clean room and staff were nice. The room was a little hot and stuffy despite the room being set to 18C with a high fan. Otherwise, it was a great stay and what I expcted from a CitizenM location.
Great little hotel. Modern and easy walking distance to Borough Market. Shops nearby. Room was small, but that’s just London for yah- it had everything that we needed. Cool tech in the room with great blackout curtains that were perfect for tackling jet lag!
Great value for cost, unique design
Great hotel! Walkable to so many attractions.
Elevator was scary and only one working. Shower had a leak above shower head. Drawer under bed was great for storage. Walking to Borough market was great.
Everything was perfect except a set of my earphones went missing from my room- they were removed from my bedside table/ I do not remove from the room and have repacked to look everywhere- no sightings. I have reported this incident to staff who checked but did not offer compensation.
Friendly staff, very attentive. Rooms a bit small but super clean. Modern style. Highly recommend
Good location, interactive room.
We walked to the subway every day. There are a lot of restaurants along the way. Rental bikes are also available just outside the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel is very nice, with an above average selection of items. The staff was very helpful dealing with our delayed luggage, and providing directions and recommendations.
The room is a cramped box in a low budget hostel masquerading as a modern, chic hotel. They're getting by on vibes and advertising, and I won't be falling for it again. I was so irritated by the low quality stay, I actually left after the first night (booked for two) to book a stay at a nearby hotel.
All ways great apart from the mattress which seemed to have a bit of a dent where people sit on the edge of the bed. Channel 4 was missing in the tv channels.
Everything was good
Lovely and centrally located to LSE
It’s a beautiful and modern hotel very clean but little bit far from the center
It was our first time in London and this was a good hotel choice because of the cleanliness and amenities. Upon check in we were able to chose our floor height and room view. Close to Borough Market and London Bridge. Our room was cosy, with a very comfortable king sized bed. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of healthy choices and americanos/cappuccinos included. Although we weren’t in the heart of London, we found most of the sites we wanted to visit were walkable.
New, clean and at a decent price
Great location, Easy to get around London from the hotel. Friendly and fun decor. Super clean everywhere. Bed was so comfortable. Nice having auto shades and blinds.
Unique modern hotel in a great location. The latest integrated tech system for checking in and out, as well as all the room controls are nice, however, there were a couple of glitches especially with the climate control. Would be good to have a backup on some so you’re not relying on the iPad solely.
I liked that you could check yourself inan
The room was ridiculously small. There was absolutely no space on two sides of the bed. One person had to climb all the way over to the other side to get in bed first or they would have to climb over the person who was already in bed.
Staff were very helpful and attentive, rooms was modern even though on the small side for a couple.
Hotel is near bus transit and a short walk to the tube as well. Very nice and quiet area. The hotel itself was nice. The staff were very helpful as well and it was convenient to have a bar/restaurant downstairs that was open late. My only complaints were the temperature in the room was rather warm (regardless of how low you set the thermostat). Also the one lift in operation was a bit of an inconvenience, but not too terrible. I’d also say that the room was clean, but could definitely use a deep clean for sure. Overall, I would stay here again.
There were problems at the hotel that impacted our stay. One elevator out of two was inoperable. The air conditioning in the entire hotel was not working on the first night of our stay. Our window blind did not reach the bottom of the window. We had an internal room overlooked by several other rooms so the only way to achieve privacy was to use the blackout blind. We were assigned an accessible room which we did not want but the were no alternative rooms available. I read previous reviews about the bed and how one side is up against the outside wall. To get out of bed one has to basically crawl over one’s partner and try not to fall off. Much more inconvenient than I had imagined. The staff were courteous and the common areas by reception were contemporary and enjoyable. Our room was very clean. Based on our two night stay we would not recommend this hotel but I think that timing was an issue that contributed to the problems we experienced.
Easy, convenient and well priced. The rooms are made for sleeping not lounging.
Great location, very unique, hotel, artsy and hipster, urban professional vibe, comfortable beds. Everything works with an iPad very futuristic and design. If you have issues with electronic technology, recommend going somewhere else.
Good value for money, clean and smart , in a great location.Reception staff are excellent, received a really warm welcome.Rooms small but clean and functional. Air conditioning not the best !
A great hotel in London. Rooms are ideal for a short stay, most things are controlled with an I-pad. All en-suite, toiletries provided. Staff are friendly and welcoming, breakfast is an extra, but plenty of areas around to enjoy breakfast.
Citizen M is always a great choice whether for family or solo travel. It's clean, well proced, well locayted, modern. Overall, we had an excellent stay. Breakfast options could be better for the price.
Amazing hotel. Extreme clean, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, great location
Two quick nights in London. We found this location of citizenM to be perfect. Very walkable to the Tate and Borough Market. Very friendly staff. The room was small, but we knew that going in. Reasonable rate and comfortable bed (and pillows). We really enjoyed The Table Cafe just four minutes away.
Convenient location. Friendly staff. Flexible policies.
Great hotel, lovely staff. Super location.
Everything was wonderful for service. All staff especially Andreaia were spectacular. Bed wasn’t comfy and soundproofing to the hallway needs improvement.
The hotel was ideally situated to be quiet but at the same time give access via foot or public transport to central London.
Great stay in London. Wonderful staff. The room and public areas were clean and stylish. Overall it was a great stay.
Excellent choice. Only just one issue: not easy to find a parking lot close by
“A Shadow and a Stench Have Fallen Upon This Place” Four nights at CitizenM Bankside. Three rooms. And from the moment we crossed the threshold, it was as if we had entered Mordor by way of a train station loo. Both rooms carried the same unwelcome signature: the persistent odor of toilet brush holders clearly on a long, unbroken tenure. The climate control, set with hope at 20°C (68) refused to yield anything below 28°C (82). The air was heavy, unmoving — more Mount Doom than London in August. A fan was promised but, like the return of the King, never came. We were offered a room change, but the new room bore the same scent and heat, as if cursed. The iPad “controls” were little more than props in this drama, serving the role of magical talismans that, sadly, held no actual power. At checkout, they offered one free night — a gesture that seemed almost rehearsed, perhaps given often to travelers who endure the same fate. Later, when I requested a full refund, they declined, narrowing the whole affair to “an AC issue on the last night” while politely ignoring the matter of the smell. This place is marketed as 4-star, yet I can find no evidence of official accreditation from the AA or VisitEngland. I’ve reported the matter to both, and to Google, for review. If you seek a night’s rest, look elsewhere. But if you wish to undertake an endurance trial worthy of the Fellowship — complete with heat, odor, and empty promises — then by all means, CitizenM Bankside awaits.
CitizenM is long on attitude but doesn’t always live up to the veneer. This property suffered a total breakdown in video service for my first day (about which the front desk was a bit clueless) and had one of two lifts out of service, which made waiting times often quite long. A request for a one-hour late checkout was met by the demand for additional payment (I declined). It’s slick and techie but felt lacking in genuine service and quality.
Well, I’m not quite sure how to rate this hotel. The other reviews are correct- the temperature in the rooms is exceptionally hot. They gave us a fan for our second night and that helped, but you’d think that after many reviewers comment on the temperature, that they would try to fix this issue. The rooms are also quite bizarre (again mentioned in many other reviews). The bed takes up a third of the room and one person needs to climb over the other to get out of bed. The shower and toilet are located together and enclosed in frosted glass and not conducive to privacy. The sink is in the main bedroom area. The room feels more like a space shuttle pod than a hotel room, but we enjoyed our stay. The place is quirky for sure. The location is fantastic.
Great location
Stylish and comfortable hotel on the heart of Bankside. Bedroom was small but well thought out with big comfy bed and completely soundproofed. Would higghly recommend.
It was meh and the layout of the room is a bit weird. to add, the sink was really smelly and my ac was not working which took two days for the hotel to fix. They had “fixed” it the same day however the cold air started to come on the second day. Also the bed had hair on and it the sheets did smell a little. Also very little ventilation in the room, so I had to order a fan. It was ok for once but I would not stay here again
Lovely modern hotel with fantastic staff, great location in walking distance from everything, will definitely use again.
Very friendly and helpful staff! The rooms are nicely decorated and super comfy bed. I stayed in a main street facing room and it was very quiet. Didn't have a chance to try their breakfast but it looked really good. The hotel is perfectly situated across the street from and M&S and Saint 9 Coffee (awesome).
This hotel went above and beyond for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. I couldn’t fault the staff at all they were all extremely polite and friendly to me and my daughter. They all greeted you with a smile and were all helpful. I will definitely be returning for my other daughter’s birthday and I will now always stay here when I need to be in London. This hotel is also in a great location and has a real edge with their unique design.Thank you again CitizenM 🙂
Unfortunately, the hotel was down to one working elevator when I first arrived. Within the 4 days of my stay, the only working elevator also went out of service which meant taking the stairs 5 flights of stairs a couple of times a day. Very inconvenient and difficult after walking all day sightseeing in London. Hopefully, both elevators is up and running safely very soon. Fortunately, the hotel staff were kind and helpful during my entire stay. Shout out to Shani at the front desk for being so kind and helpful. Another staff member named Shaniah was also helpful and polite. Overall, I had a pleasant stay minus the inconvenience of no working elevators for the majority of my 4-day stay. I would still recommend this hotel because of it’s location, well-equipped room, nice lobby, and helpful staff.
Property was great, staff very helpful. Left our previously booked accommodation to come here, shared a king size bed with my cousin and was still a massive upgrade. Facilities clean, aircon room, great technology and amenities. Only downsides were aircon on lowest temp and highest speed didn’t really cool down the room enough, and unfortunately the elevator broke on our last day which is not the property’s fault, but we did have to drag our luggage down 5 flights of stairs.
I loved the room style and particularly the bed. The pod style bathroom works well, as does the iPad for controlling the room. The drawer fridge is so cute. The only thing I wanted for was a kettle for a cup of tea- it is London after all 😉
Perfect place to stay to explore London. Close to borough market and walking distance to the underground. The bar there was great and we would always end our night with a drink there before heading up to the room!
The air conditioning was not working
Fantastic location for quickly getting into central London. Great bars and cafes nearby and walking distances to St Paul’s, Tate Gallery, The Globe, Shard and Borough Market to name a few. The hotel and staff was excellent and fantastic friendly service even at 11pm at night for a delicious homemade pizza.. Well done CitizenM we will book again for sure
Nice place to stay in the downtown area of London.
Modern hotel, does the job, good value, nice no nonsense hotel. Iron is in a seperate room but otherwise all good
Enjoyed the hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Good efficient check in- helped by staff to speed up the process. Wacky decor, some outside space and a very comfy bed with great blackout blinds! Very convenient position for south bank and Tate modern.
No coffee or tea making , in room .. not good
Fantastic hotel!
Easy check in. Helpful friendly staff
The location was convenient and the room itself was quiet, however, the room itself was so small. We barely had room to put a suitcase on the floor and to walk around it. Also, the bathroom is super small! You have to go over the other person to get in and out of the bed if there’s two of you.
This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful lobby and quirky room features. The location was fabulous. The room temperature was very warm. We had the thermostat on the very lowest temp, but did not feel it ever reached the stated temp, nor felt any air flow the duration of our 3-night stay despite the fan on the highest setting. The toilet is visually private - you can see a shadow at most - but it is not sound-private. There is no vent/noise of any kind, so be very comfortable hearing even the slightest sound made at the toilet. No problem here with a small room but no option for the suitcase except the middle of the floor and moving it around the room throughout the day. Otherwise, we loved the lighting options, and the big bed was very comfortable. The service chat was unable to help us get the mobile app to work, and I think that would have been helpful.
Our room was not cleaned properly and there were hair all over (our own) which were not removed. Rooms are high tech and we liked that part a lot. Bed was comfy but only one way to get out of it because other 3 sides were next to the walls, which you don’t expect at this price.
This hotel is over-designed to the point of being counterintuitive. Signage is too clever for its own good and thereby confusing. The room had a very comfortable bed, but everything was controlled by an iPad - that didn't work. Breakfast offers a buffet with a good selection.
The CitizenM experience perfectly suits my needs as an independent traveller looking for a great sleep, a fun and creative environment, and comfortable, unobtrusive service.
Loved this property! Other than the fact that it was a bit removed from central London given that it is located on the Southbank, it was a good bank for your buck.
This is a convenient location, close to many great tourist sites. On the weekends, there is not much open around the area in terms of food. But aside from that - we highly recommend this hotel and location, especially for the room size, comfort and staff. All of the staff were excellent, extremely knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
a great budget hotel well located for tube transportation and several high profile arts organisations. Well catered for with bars and restaurants . Great welcome by staff and once I had mastered the iPad controlled features in the room, it was easy. Will definitely book again for a short stay
Excellent for me, easy to access all locations from.
Very friendly staff - was able to check in early
Thanks
Hotel was lovely however it would be nice if the cleaners didn’t start cleaning rooms over a weekend at 7:30am and onwards as it’s very disruptive when trying to sleep - especially considering you’ve paid for this. This happened both mornings to us and we struggled to sleep past as they were making a lot of noise and doors were slamming.
Great, modern hotel. For a European hotel, the bed was AMAZING. Very big and comfortable room. Would stay again.
Clean high tech room. Nice staff.
Positives: + Very large and comfortable bed. + Quiet room. + Good size television, with chromecast capabilities. We had a minor issue that required a staff member to enter our room to fix it (I blame Google and not the hotel for that issue!), but it only took a few minutes, and they compensated us for the inconvenience with free drinks at the bar. + The TV, lights, blinds, aircon and cleaning schedule are all easy to control from an ipad in the room. + Clean shower with good water pressure and temperature. + 24/7 bar, which serves food at all hours as well. + Nice cocktails! + Very close to the Tate Modern. Negatives: - The side of the bed near the window had no plug sockets, which was inconvenient and unexpected given how modern the rest of the hotel looks. We ended up sleeping on it sideways so that we could both reach our phone chargers. - At about 6 pm every day, the ventilation suddenly filled the room with the smell of weed for about 10 minutes. - The bathroom walls are translucent - creepy. - There was a book in the room called "Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person", which I found off-putting since I was travelling with my husband! - On check-in, we were able to choose which part of the hotel to stay in, e.g. high or low floor, quiet area, etc. Why isn't this done at booking instead? What if the room I wanted was taken by a walk-in when I'd booked in advance? And it just makes the check-in process take longer. - There was one staff member who was really over the top
Highly recommend this place.
I loved the accessories of the use of the I pad to make our room more colourful and relaxing. I would sleep here everyday
Great location near south bank behind the Tate modern. Clean functional rooms that tick all the boxes other than no coffee facilities or water bottles. They are quite small but very comfy beds, good shower and good tech with an iPad that controls tv, room service, blind, music etc. Cool trendy bar and restaurant with arty vibe. Good value so would definitely recommend for a short stay.
Fantastic hotel, very well placed for Tate Modern, IMAX and all Southside arts venues.
Lovely hotel, great location.
It’s so cozy, great staff and the bar with its food was lovely.
Great hotel and great location
Had a great time! Slept well and enjoyed proximity to so many London attractions. Staff were great, breakfast was great, enjoyed it all. Thank you CitizenM!
I loved this hotel. The vibe is great. Food was good and bed was comfortable.
Nice and quiet even though a busy hotel. Clean too
Great stay and convenient location
Great
Modern
Perfect position for visiting borough market or Tate. Easy access to underground
Oo
Amazing
Great find for our trip to London. good location for exploring and in walking distance to many bars cafes and resurants. funky hotel and while the rooms are small, they fullfill everything you need and some clever tech to control everything in the room via the hotley iPad. will be retunring on our next trip to the smoke....
Absolutely NOT a four star hotel. Should be two at most. Don’t get fooled by the lobby. No reception, very small room made of plastic. Toilets are basically in the shower, with the lavatory in the middle of the room (you read that right). Bottled water: in your dreams. Instead two plastic cup with a note telling you to sort yourself with the tape. The bed is literally wall to wall to window, which means that if your spouse has to wake up or go to the toilets, they have to go over you. Floor made of cheap linoleum. Check in, no early options, won’t even give you the keys before. And you better be there in person for the keys, otherwise your spouse is not getting the room, even with booking receipt and ID showing the same family name and the baggage receipt tag from checking in earlier. Had to argue for 20mn. No bathrobes provided, or anything. Never booking again.
Love the iPad controls in the room
I love this hotel. Have stayed here 5 times now and is my go to when in London. It’s got a great vibe, relaxed and funky
We really like this hotel - quirky and really comfortable
I really liked the single ipad to control everything, the lighting and overall general concept. Unfortunately, my shower had mold all around the top, the room was much smaller than expected with very little storage with some of the controls being pretty confusing to where I never figured it out (thermostat). I also requested for the room not to be cleaned the night before and they cleaned it anyways. The breakfast was mediocre for the price.
Fabulous service. Location. No complaints.
Great use of space. Sufficient storage. Loved the use of tablet to control settings in the room. Will visit again.
