I have enjoyed my stay so much, thank you to the wonderful service and your friendly and always ready to assist staff Phila, Nosipiwo, Zikhona, Babalwa, Charlie and Wonga. My room was fresh and clean thanks to the housekeeping department; I was just unhappy with how long our orders took about an hour or so Excellent location and very convenient - small TV's with limited channels need some improvements

It was a perfect place to stay as far as location. The staff was wonderful. They even had a plug for me to use so I could use my US outlets because the one I brought din't work. The staff was very helpful with luggage and any information! Very caring! Small room. Clean! Ocean so close, but not safe to walk there. No wash clothes or tissue.

Convenient and located close to beachfront

Perfect place to stay when competing in the Iron Man championships. It was right across the street from the race start and both transitions. They even opened up the buffet breakfast at 4 AM to accommodate the racers and their. The spa wasn’t very nice and the restaurant was pretty good

The location was great. Easily to walk from the airport to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room smelled of smoke.

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding a charge made to my account for a booking at your hotel, which I neither made nor stayed for. In early December, I received a call requesting payment for what I understood to be the outstanding balance at the Southern Sun, where I had stayed. However, it has since come to my attention that the payment of R4000+ was processed for your hotel instead. I never booked, confirmed, or stayed at your establishment, and I am extremely perplexed as to how the exact balance from my Southern Sun stay was used to facilitate this charge. This situation has caused significant inconvenience, and I respectfully request a full refund of R4000+ as soon as possible. Please investigate this matter urgently and provide an explanation for how this error occurred. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution.

Only good things about this facility is the location and breakfast. It is very rare for me to feel so unwelcome as in this place. From the check in to check out, front desk staff are just rude and arrogant. Feel sorry for them to work in such negative environment. This is the only City-lodge affiliated place I have stayed in who has so little to give. Rooms are DIRTY, carpets smell rotten when water from the aircon comes out, toilet smells like a public pissoir. Cleaning and servicing leaves a lot to be desired. Even for a 2 star facility this is under par, I was indeed happy to leave! Management should be ashamed of themselves!

The room was very good, the staff I met - Wonga Charlie, Oyama and Shanel (chef) were very professional, polite and caring. The food - the breakfast was super.(I only ate breakfast), I have never eaten such nice scones anywhere not even at Woolies. I enjoyed my breakfast looking at the beach. Itwas nice. Even the location is very ideal - walking distance to Broadwalk Mall

Awesome place to stay. So close to the beach. Lots of entertainment and places to eat near by. Barneys delicious food. The boardwalk shopping, entertainment and casino within walking distance. Can totally advice anyone interested to stay to make use of the Road Lodge. Friendly staff.

Staff are not friendly they gossip about you in Xhosa not knowing I can speak the language. They talk amongst each other while you check in. Really not interested in your stay ,no request what room you would like to prefer. Smoker or non smoker ,no advise on breakfast times

Perfect view of the water front… clean and comfortable room. Friendly and Welcoming staff. My room toilet had a small leak and it was attended to promptly. Pathways and Corridors kept clean even when the place is busy with customers. Really enjoyed my stay❤️

The hotel bathrooms are very small and not clean. The hotel is in a very good location, the breakfast was horrible, even simple bacon and egg was not good. The staff is friendly. There are no common areas, we travelled as a family , we could not sit in common area.

The hotel facilities, staff, and breakfast were excellent. I was only unhappy with the extremely noisy guests that were on the first floor (Reception Level). The noise began at 9 pm and escalated. I had to eventually bring it to the receptionist's attention at 11:00 pm before anything was done about it. Very dissapointing !!!

Gate controle not working...had to wait a long time before the gate was opened.

It is important to listen to individual guests' needs and tailor your offering accordingly for instance if I am an introvert who prefers to have meals alone in my room - breakfast included. Guest e-mails regarding bookings etc must be read ahead of time so they do not have to prove anything they sent prior on arrival

The staff was great people to interact with, much hospitality and very clean and tidy rooms. Comfortable beds with fluffy pillows. The management made sure that we were well served and they met our expertise. Nice and well cooked food.

This was a comfortable airport hotel good for an overnight before an early morning flight -- walk across the street to car rental agencies and the terminal. While the room and bathroom were pretty barebones, they were adequate for our needs. The restaurant, while a limited menu, was surprisingly good. The only glitch was that the front desk had told us they could pack a breakfast (included in the nightly rental) for our early morning flight, the next morning the staff advised us that was not correct.

Clean rooms, comfortable bed, friendly staff and a really cozy and homely experience. Definitely recommend the road lodge to anyone going to PE. Ideally situated close to all amenities and a quick stroll across the road gets you to the beach

clean rooms, quite environment and nice soft cushions and clean towels. staff at reception very helpful as i was stranded due to the incorrect hotel being booked. walking distance to the beach as well as to the restaurants at the Boardwalk.

The bed was very comfortable. I would not suggest you plan your meals at the hotel as they are not fresh and breakfast is the same every day. The noise from the showers from the rooms next to mine were very loud.

Guests or outsiders let into pool area with there own alcohol and partied loudly till late. Went down to reception to complain and NOTHING was done. Please inform your guests that you have no control over guests or friends of the hotel staff or whoever they were.

Was there for Ironman Triathlon. Room had everything needed, clean, cleaned daily, trusted to leave everything open in the room, friendly staff. Great stay. Thanks

I was there during the Ironman and the service was excellent.

Lodge well situated and close to all amenities. We were able to park our large Mobi Lodge caravan in their parking area with no problem at all. Have stayed here a few times and each time we have had no complaints

My stay at Road Lodge was nothing short of amazing. The professional approach in meeting my late demand, even the manager with his personal touch. Sufficient space, lovely breakfasts, friendly staff including security. Will definitely be back and will recommend friends

My family and I checked in here for an overnight stopover. I was greatly disappointed by the quality and standard of the hotel. The reception was extremely crowded and noisy. A dinner buffer was untidly arranged in the foyer which I believe doubles as an eating area. Our rooms were poor to say the least. The curtains were falling, the tea kettle had dirt inside, the general appearance of the room was not good. We requested for a change of towels and despite being promised them and a hairdryer none was delivered to our rooms. To make matters difficult the rooms have no telephone so contacting the reception is impossible unless you walk to it. I think much more can be done to improve the hotel as better more luxurious accommodation is available at this price.

Always comfortable and good value for money.

Its ok for a short stay. I had a toddler and my elderly parents with me. On the saturday night to morning it was very noisy due to drunk people making a noise in the lobby. Very small rooms and bathrooms.

Room on 2nd floor, no lift. Reception very unfriendly. Small room, not like the photos. Shower n toilet very small. Stained and old toilet.Only 1 soap provided, no other toiletries. No hairdryer in room. Had to ask for it from reception. Very old noisy aircon, kept on switching off. Pillows had a smell. Wanted to cancel the room but i only reached the lodge after 10pm and was too tired to look for another room. Had just driven from Cape Town. Was very upset with quality of room. Will NEVER stay at Road Lodge again. Also, Hotels.com must boldly state the stars and quality of rooms they advertised. Why wasn't it boldly stated that the Road Lodge PE is one star. Had i known , i would never have booked it. I felt very cheated.

Given room on 2nd floor. No lifts. I would never have booked this place had I known there are no lifts. The photos of rooms are very deceptive. Small room, noisy aircon, hard beds, smelly pillows. Only 1 soap to use in wash basin and shower. Room and carpets smell stale. No hairdryer in room, have to request for it from reception. Worst room n hotel I've ever stayed at.

The rooms were clean yes but there are no bar fridges or whatsoever to store food and drinks. They didn’t provide water for the guests and no iron or hairdryer in the rooms, I had to go to the reception and ask for it.

My experience at this hotel was horrible and it was the worst hotel I’ve ever been hands down. The iron doesn’t get hot enough to iron my clothes no matter what setting it’s on. I asked the receptionist for my breakfast to go because I was in a hurry and she told me I should have requested it the night before so if I’m unable to sit and eat I can’t get breakfast, how was I supposed to know I have to request it the night before? That information is not available anywhere I looked. The restaurant area at the hotel is at reception so while you eat there are people walking in and out, checking in and out and it’s noisy as hell. The receptionist that helps everyone check in and out also helps dish food for you in between her front desk duties, why? Now you have to wait to get food when she’s busy with someone or you have to wait for checking in while she dishes food for someone. The TV in the rooms is the size of my tablet you can hardly see anything on it from the bed.Don’t come to this place, you will regret it. Tonight is my last night and I can’t wait to get out of here. Also the breakfast selection is awful, there are B&Bs with a better breakfast

I had come down for a wedding. so I really only slept there. On my return every evening the room had been serviced and was clean with fresh towels. All staff were very pleasant. I would recommend it to my friends.

It was not so good. Fortunately it was for one night because I started feeling like a burden continuously asking reception to come fix things.

Every night the other patrons on the floor were smoking dagga and were very loud until 11pm. I beleave they were bus drivers thansporting soccer players

Typical CLHG welcome. Safe, ample parking. COVID restrictions adhered, screening and temperature taken and masks were worn. Rooms were comfortable enough with crisp linen and TV. Bathroom is in the room though so best for couples or comfortable couples. Road Lodge is the cheapest hotel out of the CLHG, but really nothing to complain at the price. Good for a night to two. Thanks to the staff for being kind and courteous. Didn’t have breakfast but do understand reviews which don’t like the layout, as the seating area is right by reception/entrance. Definitely a solid budget option in PE.

The hotel is not fancy, but is modern and pleasant. Bring a cushion as the plastic chair is very uncomfortable.

The room was comfortable and clean and maintained throughout the visit. Although the toilet bowl was clean there was an odour. Breakfasts were expensive but enjoyable and plentiful.Staff were great - helpful and friendly. We both would stay again on a visit to Port Elizabeth

Our stay at road lodge was very lit we enjoyed ourselves will Definetly come back in the future the services was good, cleanness, conditions and we're used to garden and the view of the garden was good and refreshing we're quite impressed 😇👌

I had already pointed out that the toilet seatt was not in great shape. Not sure if this was a Covid related thing too but there was no soap or shampoo in the shower.

They must get rid of those 2 single beds in their rooms. We also need soap to wash hands and sanitizer, Corona virus is a killer.

The typical professional welcoming of City Lodge hotels, the clean rooms and free, convenient and ample parking makes the stay one of many to come. This was a late booking and it was concluded in a short space of time.

The bathroom/shower tiles needs cleaning between the grout on the tiles other than that....it was lovely

There was no water at the hotel. We could not shower , go to toilet ,or brush our teeth .. When we wanted to have the shower late the night when water did come on , there was a problem again with the hot water system. The lady at reception was very impolite. I felt that it was a nightnare experience.

First time ever that I have checked in to find the throw on the bed full of body fluid stains. The housekeeper did come to apologize after I had reported it to reception. This No frills hotel is adequate for short stopover type stays. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced.

Everything good .It will be much better if the noize levels (specially large groups)could be managed better.

Everything is so crammed in. There is not even an extra plug to charge your labtop while charging your cell. The washbasin is super small. Breakfast was advertised as included, when we got there we were told to pay extra for it. The hotel's offered shuttle service suddenly costed us R140 per trip, where if we knew this was an extra charge we would have used uber which cost R50 for the same trip. So please change your advertisement to state things are not free

My sta u at your hotel twice I must add was amazing

Road lodge is convenient and reasonable. Staff are friendly. Darren at the reception assisted with my queries and calls as well assisted with getting a hairdryer for my room swiftly. Only downfall is that carpets were not cleaned/vacuumed- for the 4 nights I was there the room was not vacuumed - as the paint peel on shavings were in the corners, and previous guest snack crumbs near the desk and couch area for the duration of stay, which could be felt when walking barefooted in the room.

The place is beautiful but guests were very noisy and nothing had been done about it.

Great location and friendly staff. Car lights flash through window onto wall at night from adjacent driveway despite curtains...disrupting sleep. Terrible toilet flush mechanisn...barely functional.

It was very noisy in the hotel. Couldn`t sleep with the people talking and playing in the hallway.

The aircon or heater was not working, i was so cold the whole night. The room is too small a BnB would have been bigger

Good stay. However, the hotel does not receive/look at the notes that I add on to my booking at hotels.com I requested a sea view room and a hairdryer and at reception they stated that there is no notes on my booking. I was given a hill view room. This is the 3rd time this has happened at Road Lodge. Despite this, room was neat and clean, and appropriate for my stay.

Always nice to stay there. Only place we stay in when in PE. Always constant and we get way more what we pay for. Big enough to keep my 5year old busy. Close to everything (litterally walking distance)

I was in Port Elizabeth on business for the week. Found that the Road Lodge is very well positioned near the Boardwalk. Plenty of choices of eatery places and a wonderful view of the Bay. Close to the beach for evening walks along the promenade. Great value for money.
