The Inn At Lock Seven

The lock right outside was interesting.

Noisy AC unit. Place is in need of renovation. Not sure why but there was an unpleasant smell outside, so sitting on the balcony was out of the question.

The main benefit of the hotel is the view of Lock 7 on the welland canal. If you are a ship junkie you must visit.

The location was excellent. Room dated, bathroom fan very noisy but didn’t work. Air conditioning sounded like a plane taken off and à couple of lights didn’t work.

It was amazing to sit on the balcony to see the ships go thru the lock. Room was very spacious and met expectations. Short walk to location for eats.

The price-but it was a holiday weekend. Maybe offer other amenities like continental breakfast/water. The mattress seemed softer compared to other places.

Spacious, comfortable room completely soundproof; wonderful bed, excellent shower; helpful and friendly hosts. Being so close to ships travelling through the Welland Canal was spectacular. Great destination hotel to learn how locks work and to see ships from around the world.

Screen door needs to be fixed (slams) in room 22.

The mattress was very hard and the toilet tiny!!!

Very clean, including the bathroom. The bathrooms have been modernized. Spartan but clean.

The exterior, the hallways and the public areas are run-down and ugly. The carpeting is ugly. The room furniture, doors and windows are battered. Windows did not function.

Excellent location for a biking vacation. Quiet and very clean. Nice to ba able to sit on balcony and watch ships in lock.

The location is what impressed me the most. Watching the boats go through the lock was fantastic. I didn't know breakfast was available.

The location was amazing. We saw so many ships in the locks. Super easy walk into the old downtown street. The bed was comfy.

It’s a little dated, but it’s well kept and very clean!!

Amazing view of ships passing in the lock. Was affordable for our specific needs.

Everything was good.

Right out you window you can see the Lock and ships going through. There is a web address to find expected arrival time. It is impressive.

Some of fixtures are dated. Through the wall A/C was noisy but effective. Towels were a little small.

Room furnishings were a little outdated but comfortable nevertheless.

Hallway outside the room was a little spartan and utilitarian.

Location besides the Welland canal was excellent and the neighbourhood was very good.

The location was outstanding! We watched the ships pass thru Lock 7. We were there to bike the Welland Canal Trail, so it was a perfect spot to start & end our biking. Comfy & clean rooms. Excellent staff - very welcoming!

The owners and staff at this property are amazing. The gentleman at the front desk noticed my son wanted to play basketball and went out and bought him a basketball. When he tried to return it, the gentleman said he could keep it. Made my sons day to know that someone would be that kind to him The views of the lock are beautiful. The location of this property is so close to everything you could ever want to see or do. quiet and peaceful.

The only thing I could say because I would stay was so perfect is that I wish they had a microwave in the room

The room price was high for a simple room at an inn.

We liked the security of the premise, having the rooms separated from the outside with a locked door. The room was homely. The view to watch the lock was amazing. The hotel receptionist was very efficient and friendly throughout check-in and check-out.

The workers were friendly but did not check on us if we needed housekeeping. The door to the bathroom didn't fully close, which meant there wasn't fully privacy if you needed it.

Met all our expectations. The ships are the best attraction.

The TV channels were very limited. Easy fix, invest in an antenna and the motel will be able to pick up all the Toronto stations and Buffalo stations giving your guests much more variety.

The location was nice, very quiet even with the boats going by. We stayed for the night after our wedding and put that in the notes when booking. We showed up and they surprised us with flowers, chocolates, and wine!

Beds were a little hard, but it wasn’t unbearable. There’s a decent amount of diversity between rooms. We stayed on the top floor and it was very nice and seemed newer than the rooms my family were in on the 2nd floor.

The rooms have balconies that overlook Lock 7 on the Welland Canal, so you can enjoy watching the ships. Located in a pleasant residential neighbourhood. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. Host was very nice. A low-key old-style motel, not fancy - just a good place to stay.

We like the location as it's right beside the Welland Canal and you get to watch big freighters and other boats go in and out of the lock which is right in front of this Inn. It's also in Thorold where we were visiting family so it was convenient.

Years ago when I'd stay at this Inn the beds were a lot more comfortable and the bedding was a lot more than what they put on the beds now. There was a sheet and a blanket (which looked like the same blankets they've had for the last 30 years and no comforter on the beds. This Inn needs a good "update" to the beds and bedding ...

The ONLY thing I would have liked to change is if there were allowance to smoke on the back patio overlooking the Lock. It is a part of my morning routine to have a cigarette in the morning when I wake up as I get ready for the day. I also battle with insomnia and often having a cigarette calms me to sleep. I do not like that I had to step out over to the street-side to smoke. I understand the rule of not smoking within the unit, but do not understand why it is prohibited to do outside on the back patio. But aside from that nitpick, this was a pleasant experience and I look forward to returning in the future. I have already begun recommending the Inn At Lock Seven to my friends.

We didn't have breakfast there. I wasn't aware that it was available. We went into Thorold, though there was not much open on a Sunday morning. There is a good Tim Hortons, though. The place was quiet, in a nice neighbourhood, and the room was easily accessible for all of us, like a motel. Good for people needing walkers. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Lots of parking. Picnic tables were provided outside the rooms for viewing the ships going through the lock.

Location was awesome...right on the welland canal..updates have been added since we were there the last time..the only thing that would be nice to have is a microwave in the room... Beds were comfortable, clean and it was quiet..very restful weekend...

Location is central in the Niagara area. It is right on the Welland Canal. Tho only way you could be closer to the boats is to be right on them.

There was nothing we did not like.

Just beautiful. Lovely sunrise yesterday morning. Every time we stay we see a type of ship we’d not seen before , so an educational experience as well. The location is central for a quick trip to anywhere in the Niagara region. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

Motel was further away from our event then expected. Beds were hard. One guest from our group had a water leak from rain leaking on one of their beds.😝

Room were spacious and well kept, albeit quite dated. Views of the canal are very nice and location is close to walking paths and the nice strip of downtown Thorold. Staff were nice and helpful, but felt quite expensive for the quality and location.

My stay at the Inn at Lock 7 was very enjoyable and relaxing. The room was very clean and housekeeping was done every day. The view of the ships going through Lock 7 of the Welland Canal is amazing! I would definitely stay here again!

The highlight is watching the large ships make their way through the locks!

Dated decor.

The key point of this property is what it is named for... the Welland Canal Lock 7. From your patio or balcony you get to watch 300+ meter ships making their way from Lake Ontario to Lake Eire (or the reverse). It's a spectacle. The property is a pleasant spot run by a really nice family.

Exceptionally clean! Friendly staff! We arrived 3/4 hour before check-in and the room was ready. Great view overlooking the lock and enjoyed watching different ships come through the lock. Super quiet for a great sleep.

Amazing location if you love to see the ships traverse the canal/locks! Quiet location, very clean, super friendly staff at the front desk. Private balcony overlooking locks. Nothing fancy but all the essentials are there!
