The person who checked my daughter in was friendly and helpful. It was clean and comfortable. Good value for money. She had a nice stay.

The one-person room I was in was cute and cozy. It had everything needed for my one-night stay, and some friendly little welcome treats. The bed was also good quality and I slept well. There wasn't any breakfast, but there are lovely cafés quite near, as it is at a very central location.

Since the adjacent pub was not open yet at the check-out time, I didn't find a way to have my luggage stored for the day, which would've been quite practical.

Great location, right in the centre of Durham, beside the Elvet bridge. Large, comfortable en-suite room. Excellent decorative condition. Friendly staff (in the pub).

My room was at the front of the building, so some road noise at times, although not at night. I didn’t find it troublesome but some people might.

On n'a pas aimé l'odeur de tabac dans la chambre (pourtant non-fumeur), et le bruit important de la rue.

Our twin room was at the back of the building, so there was no view, but also no noise. The City is in a great location, close to eateries and attractions.

No complaints about anything.

Spacious room, modern and clean. Main light in bathroom wasn't working but there was a light over the sink so it didn't bother us. Manager was friendly and the bar downstairs had a good atmosphere and as we were on 2nd we didn't here any noise from there.

The windows were single pained so it was a little noisy in the early hours from street noisy, people and sirens. No parking but we paid to park at a nearby hotel.

I would up grade to double bed room in future. Yes I would go back.

I enjoyed the hotel but the room was noisy and traffic affected sleeping. The visit was to relax so we were quite tired the following morning and came home early.

Our room was at the front and on the main street so it was noisy from traffic all night and noisy from people on a Saturday night. No double glazing unfortunately. Room at back might have been better

The location is perfect for those wanting to see Durham.

The rooms were really small and so were the beds. Unfortunately the beds were really uncomfortably- the drains really smelled and the plumbing made horrendous noises especially when you ran the water in the sink and flushed the toilet. The noise from the next door bar was very loud too.

The room and bathroom were impeccably clean. The room was well furnished with a hanging rail, tv and a lovely selection of sweets and biscuits to go with the tea and coffee

The room could do with a chair if possible. The noise from the pumps that empty the water from the shower and toilet were really noisy and continuous when anyone showered, and could be heard around the building. I understood that there is a pub attached, and that was fine, but the shower pump was unexpected and very annoying

The City Bar and Hotel is in a great location for access to Durham. We were shown to our room by a very nice member of staff, and it had everything we needed for a good night's sleep, shower and morning cup of tea!

As you might expect, you can hear some noise from the patrons of the pub downstairs, but it isn't that loud and doesn't go on too late!

We liked how close to the center it was. We didn't mind the traffic as we already live on a busy road options for an iron and mini fridge and friendly staff.

No option for breakfast

Near city centre. Able to walk over bridge and up into market place, to cathedral etc quickly. No need of a car. Room was comfortable, clean, well appointed, en suite, plenty of towels. Pleasant welcoming staff. Nice bar. Generous toiletries in room and courtesy tray. Nice big telly. Lamps etc all worked. Packet of Ear plugs (!) on courtest tray but it was quiet the nights I stayed! Leaflet that Karaoke on Friday nights, so might have needed them then! Bus stop nearby if needed transport, plus park and ride bus to get up into steep town. Good taxi contact too.

No lift if disabled. Extra stairs to various rooms. Did not do any breakfasts or any food. But a pastie shop 2 doors down, a pub nearby and a little shop over road. Plenty of eateries over bridge.

Stanza molto rumorosa, in quanto affaccia su una strada trafficata. Fare una convenzione con un parcheggio nei dintorni, per offrire un servizio in più al cliente e visto i prezzi del parcheggio su strada

The staff was incredible. There was an issue with another room that they solved promptly and made compensation to us for any inconvenience. The room was ample, and everything we needed they helped with. Also wasn't noisy at all as pub closed around 11pm in the week.

The room was lovely with pretty finishing touches.

The curtains and blinds didn't block out morning sunshine!

El hotel es sencillo pero está muy bien ubicado. Hay un parking de pago muy cerca para dejar el coche con tranquilidad. Habitación y baño con todo lo necesario. La chica que nos atendió era encantadora. Volvería sin duda.

Vi fick lägenheten som låg på översta våningen, (den kostade 3600 svenska kr. för 2 nätter) men den var absolut inte värd den summan. Vi upplevde den inte välstädad. Duschen var trasig och skulle lagas på fredagen ( vi kom på måndag) det märkte vi först på kvällen när vi skulle duscha..

It was so warm in the room even with the windows open as we’ve had hot weather so really needed a fan as we didn’t sleep so well because of the heat.

Close to Durham Castle and Cathedral, only about 10 minutes walk. Staff were all friendly, good deals for drinks in the bar. The room was clean

We'd arranged through Booking.com messages with the hotel that we would arrive before between 11.45 and 12.15 to just drop off bags. We arrived at about 12.05 but there was no one there and the bar door was locked. Had to drag cases round till 2pm.

Estuvimos una noche de camino a Escocia. El alojamiento es muy cómodo y limpio. Nos tocó la habitación situada encima del pub y, a pesar de que el establecimiento te deja unos tapones para los oídos como detalle, la verdad es que no tuvimos que utilizarlos porque no se oía mucho jaleo. Una estancia muy agradable y sin ruidos molestos.

Te informo sobre el parking: es en la calle y es una zona regulada (CPZ). Funciona con parquímetro durante el día o mediante apps móviles como RingGo o PayByPhone. Recuerda revisar los carteles de la calle para evitar multas

Malutki pokój i jeszcze mniejsza łazienka, ale bardzo czysto i bardzo cicho! Chociaż to była noc z soboty na niedzielę, a pokoje znajdują się nad pubem, to nic nie zakócało ciszy nocnej. Wygodne łóżko, czyste ręczniki, ciasteczka... Naprawdę bardzo sympatyczne miejsce. Brak śniadania to nie problem, jest wiele opcji śniadaniowych w bezpośredniej okolicy.

Niestety wifi w moim pokoju nie działało, teoretycznie zasięg sieci wifi był, ale nie można było połączyć się z internetem pomimo wielu prób i przelogowywania. Dzięki temu wcześniej poszedłem spać.

Being on the road it can be a bit noisy even with the supplied earplugs and the floorboards are very creaky from other rooms. It's not a huge problem, after all, the building is old.

Didn’t see the property

My stay was cancelled by the hotel. I got a message from my hotel asking me to call them ASAP. I complied, to be told that I wouldn’t be able to stay there tonight as my room had been trashed by a “guest” last night. I asked what “trashed” meant. The lady said “There’s holes been punched in the walls”. I told the lady (who was incredibly helpful, polite and in no way responsible for this debacle) I could cope with a few holes so would see them later. She added “Er, it’s covered in blood too”. I decided to book myself a Premier Inn. Just to be on the safe side.

Gentillesse de l’accueil et état parfait de la chambre, récemment refaite sans doute. Proche de la vieille ville et assez proche de la gare ( qui est «  perchée » en haut de la ville, mieux vaut ne pas avoir de bagages trop lourds à traîner ).

Great location to explore Durham city centre. Close to local amenities and not as loud as I'd expected considering it's above a pub. Beds comfortable enough and room big enough.

The bathroom. The extractor fan looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, so even if I could've figured out how to turn it on, I wouldn't have. For ventilation that meant that I needed to leave the door open, which would've been fine except the only towel hanger was on the back of the door (one of those hooks that is awful to balance towels on). The bathroom was very small (not the property's fault) but I'm pretty sure they could've found space for a small hand towel hanger. I ended up laying a towel behind the tap for hand drying (not ideal).

The room is small and simple but clean and comfortable.

The worst aspect is the lack of internet. The WiFi doesn’t work and my mobile didn’t have connection. Also, the toilet was a bit smelly.

The beds were great, had a good family stay.

It’s a bit difficult to access if you have a lot of suitcases. But the staff were super helpful with everything and very kind and lovely people.

From the moment I arrived, the staff did everything they could to help, including kindly moving a fridge into my room for all my pre marathon drinks and snacks to survive the warmth! A cozy little room, great vibes and well worth a visit!

Nothing not to like about this place!

La ubicación es muy céntrica y las habitaciones disponían de hervidor de agua junto con tés, café instantáneo, leche, galletas y algunas chuches. La decoración de la habitación también era acogedora y la ducha tiene buena presión de agua.

La habitación y el baño son pequeños y no se puede entrar en la ducha sin abrir la puerta del baño. La cama también es vieja, con muelles que se clavan y cojines incómodos. Lo peor de todo es que no vinieron a hacer la habitación a pesar de poner el cartel en la puerta. También hubo mucho ruido de madrugada uno de los días, que se oía a pesar de usar tapones y auriculares con cancelación de ruido.

Small room above the main City pub. So it was a central location for exploring Durham and it was definitely very good value for money.

It was noisy. I didn't realise it was in/above an old pub. Lucikly it was only a Thursday night. Not so much pub noise but could hear the guy in the next room and road noise. Ear plugs were supplied on the bed. Otherwise room was spacious.

The bed was soft, there were free sweets and biscuits and they'd obviously invested thought into the interior design - you can see from the picture 😃

The shower didn't drain fast enough so the whole bathroom quickly ended up wet. I didn't sleep well at all due to noise and light. There was no one around in the morning.

Fine for a one night stay. Close to the Indigo Hotel where I will be bringing a group of 20+ people in September. Had all I needed for the stay.

Unfortunately it coincided with the Argentina/England match so quite noisy in the pub below! Quite a dark bedroom but lighting good.

The shower head being to low and unadjustable had to be careful not to knock head on the shower head. Know it's a old building and nothing can be done about it. I am 6ft 4 way above average height.

It would have been nice to have a small table and chair in the room—there’s juust enough space for it. It was the last day of exams so I could hear faint noises from outside all night.

I loved the welcome and immediate direction to room and I checked in early. Location was perfect for me. room was all that I needed. I liked the tea and coffee making. shower was excellent. i liked the earplugs.

Because you're central, you are on a main road, which you realise as soon as you see you're left earplugs - but that in itself is a nice touch, and worked a treat.
