Good location, nice staff, looks pretty from the outside
Smells horrible, even the hotel is under remodelation they should advice about that. The rooms really smells uhly and the floor of the bathroom was dirty. Beds very uncomfortable.
Lovely location for visiting Beamish. Fantastic staff, very friendly. Nice comfortable room. Very nice meal in the evening and a good breakfast. Would definitely come back.

Car park, Bar
Building site. Noisy pipes. Loud televisions with poor room sound proofing
Although I paid in advance. We were refused a room at checkin time of 15.00hrs. Due to scurrilous rumours about fraudulent behavior. I will of course be instructing solicitors.
The attitude of the staff. Taking my money, then refusing us use of the room.
Nicely decorated; very clean; food and drink available for extended periods; easy walk to city centre and train station
Nothing
The Kingslodge Inn offers excellent value for money for anyone looking to visit/explore Durham and the surrounding area. It is fewer than ten minutes from the railway station and within fifteen minutes’ walk of the city centre, the cathedral and the castle. The staff at the Kingslodge Inn were friendly, helpful and polite. Several choices are provided for breakfast including cereals and cooked options – including the option of some very nice sandwiches. The room I stayed in was quiet and more than adequate for my needs.
The bathroom needed some form of ventilation (perhaps an extractor fan).
Nice staff
Rooms are small and very tired, like something from the 1970’s. Cracks in the lino, marks on v old furniture. Probably the worst hotel breakfast we’ve ever had. Stay was only saved by a very lovely lady who worked behind the bar.
Good parking. Not too far away from the city centre
No lift
Large room. . Well equipped.
Location was close to train statiion but quite a walk to city centrr.
The hotel stay was fine
We felt that the bed was small - very pleased that the hot weather was over!
Staff are extremely nice. Room was lovely and very comfortable. Bar area was friendly and food is good. My over all experience was good. What happened the 2nd day was mostly no ones fault and caused by my being ill.
I accidently got locked out. It was 11pm and all staff were on premises. I knocked on the door and the windows and while all staff knew I was there no one answered the door. I tried the emergency numbers on the posters on the door but no one answered. I was outside until 1am even started walking to another hotel so at least I had a bed for the night. Police found me walking alone and brought me back. They tried the EMERGENCY numbers and again no reply. I was locked out and alone in strange city. I count this as an emergency. However the emergency system does not work at Kingslodge hotel, so maybe a new system is needed. Due to a illness I have recently been diagnosed with I once again found myself outside, ill, and alone. When I returned to the hotel I asked staff if I could borrow a spare key to get into my room. The staff just shrugged her shoulders and said they didn't have one. I wonder how the rooms get cleaned if there are no spare keys. As it happens I hadn't locked my room so I could get in.
Great location
The room was a bit too warm
Location was good, and room was lovely to stay in but far too small. Staff were excellent and food surpassed expectations
Small room, lots of refurbishment. Bike facilities were poor.
Location, parking, breakfasts
First room checked into had bad small, no apology, just moved to another room. Also often clutter, laundry and cleaning materials in corridors
Very cosy and relaxed
We had a wonderful stay at The Kingslodge Inn. It is a lovely and charming place in a great location, within easy walking distance of Durham city centre. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and we felt very well looked after throughout our stay. We also had dinner in the restaurant and really enjoyed the food. Great atmosphere, good food and wonderful hospitality. We would definitely recommend The Kingslodge Inn and would happily stay here again.
Location and staff were very good
Room was very small and the evening meal could have been better.
Nice staff
Stains on bedroom carpet and room was very dark
The staff were in attendance
Easy to find ..,Excellent facilities clean & tidy
N/A
Room was comfortable, clean and convenient but lacking a fridge which would have been useful. Staff were polite and helpful. The bar was pleasant and well stocked
Dinner was disappointing, first evening dried out lasagne, second nondescript and tasteless fish and chips. Chicken dishes were offered but seemed to be unavailable Breakfast was better, a good range of buffet items plus cooked full English but with very meagre portions. WiFi was available provided you were prepared to stand in the car park but only intermittently inside the hotel. When asked staff explained it was a technical issue and that head office had been informed. The fact that a printed QR code was provided offering a "guest bypass" WiFi option (which didn't work) suggests the problem is long standing.
Location . Relaxed pub style. Rooms clean and comfortable.
Basic breakfast included.
Lovely traditional inn with very friendly staff and a short walk into town. Good location with parking on site.
Food at dinner was mediocre.
Dining area. Menu. Price of meals. Clean room. Regular change of towels and complimentary biscuits.
Room 5 There was quite a noisy water/heat pump? which would come on intermittently in the next room. (The side of the room opposite the door)
Great location, free car park, staff very welcoming Rooms clean and comfortable Breakfast excellent value, plenty of choice
Nothing didn’t like
Lovely location at the end of a quiet street, surrounded with trees. Nice garden, dog walking, and a quick walk to the centre of town and all its amenities.
Staff took a while to warm up.
It was fine, it was a pub rather than a hotel. It served its purpose, although the room was compact, but was clean
The room was small. The bathroom needed a makeover. The food was good and the staff were happy enough. But the hallways and stairs needed a good clean and doors were sticky.
Comfortable beds, good food, superb breakfast, friendly staff
In adequate parking, only because some patrons park over two spaces
Fantastisk koselig hotel.
Good value
No visible night manager to be seen!
We enjoyed our one night stay at the Kingslodge Inn in Durham. We walked into the city and to the Cathedral for Evensong and back - around 15 minutes each way - and ate our evening meal at the Inn. Very good pub food. Our room was spacious and clean. Parking is easy and free at the rear of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely the next morning. Highly recommended.
Lovely hotel..ideally situated and helpful staff.
Room was small ..no room to put anything especially in bathroom. Think i have been spoilt when staying at a couple of other inn collection hotels. I would go back..but in a better room. There seemed to be a shortage of staff but the young man on the bar and breakfast was very good and coped well with everything.
Location and nice pub. Very nice breakfast.
After a long drive, it was nice to check in to a hotel that was close enough to town that let us explore it with a ten-minute walk. There was no need to book the restaurant, which was a relief, and the food and drink were all every satisfactory. The room was comfortable, well-sized, and stocked with facilities. Off-road parking was appreciated.
Some items weren't available on the menu, but the options were fine and tasty.
Really friendly excellent location for Durham
Excellent location, value for money, clean and friendly helpful staff
Rooms were warm even when window was open
The location, the Inn itself which was nicely decorated in the public rooms. Accepts dogs, outside terrace, food good
-
Great location with parking. Easy walk into city centre etc Friendly staff.
Food disappointing, two morning ran out of mushrooms and black pudding even though down for breakfast well before 9am. Not offered anything to make up for the missing items. Evening meal no sauce for the prawn cocktail and scampi was way over cooked.
Its location and staff.
The carpets were very dirty around the edges.
楼梯,无电梯,无人问津
The room, the food, location all spot on.....& the beer.
Nothing comes to mind.
L’amabilitat del personal
Hi havia reformes i coses pel mig, però aviat ho tindran reformat i ja estarà
Good location.
Room was very hot. Couldn’t open windows as much as we would have liked. Buffet offered at breakfast was poor.
It was comfortable and in a great location
Breakfast was until 10.30am, however the staff cleared everything away , including coffee and tea at 10am which was disappointing
Beautiful place with relaxing beer garden
It was very convenient for town. Nice and local to the train station as well. The breakfast was lovely, very tasty. The room was great. We asked for twin beds which we got. The bed was very comfy. The staff were friendly. We did have to wait to book in for 3pm but that was fine as we bought some lunch in the bar downstairs whilst we were waiting for 3pm.
A bit old fashioned in the decor. The shower was freezing in room 8 the two nights/ 3 days we were there. We did ask one of the staff to check and she tried our shower and said the water was hot. In fact it wasn’t at all. It took my breath away it was so cold. We didn’t know we had to go to the bar to order breakfast and so we waited a little while before we realised this. Maybe on check in this needs to be made clear! Maybe it was us being slow on the uptake? I don’t know!
Breakfast - great & hot. Parking - excellent Drink choice at bar - good
Room size, was small & cramped .
The location The food The friendliness of staff
The room was dark The window wouldn't open totally The window overlooked the kitchens. The room was smelly, as was the en suite. I think the smell was from cooking.
Lage
Ausziehsofa war sehr unbequem. Essen mittelmäßig
Kings Lodge Hotel is a beautiful English countryside inn. The upgrading did not take away the “old time” atmosphere. We arrived on Sunday lunchtime, enjoyed a traditional lunch and was allowed early access to our room after lunch. The room was spacious and comfortable.
There is not much not to like. We visited during summer. There was no air conditioner, but a fan was available in the room.
Very clean and comfortable. Clearly had a fresh coat of paint recently. Bed comfortable, bathroom lovely. Hotel overall very comfortable. Staff overall friendly. Lovely fan to keep the room cool.
Just think it's overpriced. For £160 , breakfast should be included, and I hadn't realised this until just before we went. Only the price would put me off staying again.
Super Lage, tolles Haus
Personal beim Frühstück, nicht aufmerksam. Man musste zur Theke gehen um sich bemerkbar zu machen .Das ganze bei 6Frühstücksgästen.Das ist uns in 3wochen zum Glück nur hier passiert.
Cosy, friendly & close to centre
Everything!
Nothing.
The Inn was close to the station and to the city centre so it was easy to get around. The room was very good, clean and well appointed. Food was very good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was straightforward.
I cannot think of anything
Parcheggio interno e ubicazione in una parte tranquilla della città.
Servizio del personale carente e poco disponibile. Attesa lunga della cucina.
Bed was a single band too narrow - every time I moved my elbows or knees hit the wall . Mattress uncomfortable . I had rump steak one evening , asking for medium - it was very well done - in fact totally dried out and rock hard , for breakfast - poached eggs on toast - yolks were solid , not runny .
As above
Personale poco accogliente e doccia della camera che non scaricava
Very well located for train station and cathedral area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good parking if you’re travelling by car
Nothing we disliked. The current price/quality is fair. For management to decide if trade-offs in improved offering vs likely higher price would work commercially.
Great location at a fair price - just a 15-minute walk from Durham Castle and the City Centre. Breakfast and free private parking were included. The staff were very friendly, and the room was quiet and clean.
There weren’t many options for breakfast, and the portion sizes were quite small (or at least what I ordered). The single room was also rather small and located above the kitchen, which isn’t ideal if you want to keep the window open for fresh air.
Housekeeping: excellent. Bed super comfy. Room very clean & facilities excellent. Great location. Good car park. Younger bar staff were friendly & efficient.
Poor welcome from older/managerial staff. Noisy workmen & noisy tools. Noisy staff outside kitchen (right below my bedroom window, I could hear every word) Breakfast unclear/unwelcoming and understocked. Tables not cleaned in bar area.
De perfecte ligging op korte afstand van het oude centrum van de stad.
We vonden alles nogal oudbollig
• Prima ontbijt • Prima diner
• Kamer met uitzicht op de afvalbakken van het hotel • Zeer kort bed, zelfs voor iemand van 182cm lang
Friendly service, lovely breakfast.
The room was incredibly hot and you couldn't open the window very much to try to cool things down. It also smelt quite strongly of dog (and I am a dog owner so wouldn't be overly bothered by this usually!).
Location
Building work and room too hot! Only one window opened properly Staff not switched on they got lunch order wrong so we ate separately!
Good location close to the city centre
Very expensive £240 for one night, terrible value for money. Beds were uncomfortable, especially the sofa bed. Noise from trains till quite late. Facilities were very limited, staff didn’t seem to be very friendly. Breakfast was ok but expected more for the price.
Lovely historical inn tucked away near woods but literally 10 mins walk to the city centre. Staff were friendly and food was delicious. My room was great. Overlooking the beer garden. Clean, spacious, comfy bed and great shower.
Location
Not their fault but the person in the room above was noisy between 12.30 & 2 am. And then 6.30 onwards. Also woken by a drunk outside at 3 am. Again, not their fault but I had a 300 mile drive ahead.

There was easy parking and the staff were friendly.
The room was fairly small and it was difficult to use the desk. The location was not great and we needed to use taxis to get home each evening. I feel that it is expensive for what you get, but I guess Durham is an expensive city.
The staff were all helpful. I liked the apologies of the staff for the state of the room. They said it was due a refit in a few weeks time.
When the staff member first opened the door of the room it looked small, dark and so disappointing. For the exhorbitant cost of the room i had been expecting something very special and was was devastated by the old fashioned loook, the size of yhe room and the darkness of it. It was what i would have expected in the 1970s when hotels put single people in their worst rooms. The staff did say the hotel was due a refit very soon but this did not make my great disappointment disappear. I will say that I did see the double rooms and they looked of a much bettrer stsndard.
breakfast and evening meal were fine no issues

Great location and very comfortable
Would be great to have bottled water in the room
Bathroom was too small
Comfortable room. Always a friendly welcome.
Nothing
Proche de la gare, pas loin du centre
Hotel un peu vieillot, chambres sombres, décevant
breakfast was excellent, nice food and quickly brought to table , location was great a short distance to town centre and train station..
my room was like a sauna, so hot, only a fan was provided which wasnt a lot of good, windows could not open all the way, not much air coming in... perhaps lo0k at air con for the rooms in the future...
Great location our third but last visit.
Appears to be few staff and no communication or conversation from any of them except one, the maintenance man Colin. The cooked breakfast on morning one was cold the mushrooms were dried up and lukewarm the bacon again dried up and appeared to have surrendered ,the rest of the meal was cold except for the hash brown which was hot ,the plate hot as well so work that one out.I eventually spoke to the manager who replaced the meal but to be honest it was little better.By the way the granola was musty and past its sell by date.On day two we had toast and a fried egg along with a cereal from a box .
The pub area was pleasant and an evening meal we had their was reasonable.
Small, odd shaped room which was dark, dingy & not very clean. Marks on bed sheet & pillowcase, bathroom window jammed open, dark heavy furniture. Little storage, just a small odd shaped built-in wardrobe.
It was a lovely place to stay very peaceful and laid back
Nothing really it was all good
Easy to get Uber to city centre.
Needs a refit. No air con. Bedroom dark and dated Pay extra for cooked breakfast.
Serving staff were polite.
Based on the money we paid, £580 for two nights. The room was , small, with an unforgettable double bed. I requested a twin bed with another single bed. We were provided with an uncomfortable double bed and a very uncomfortable sofa bed. There was no air conditioning. The breakfasts on the last day took an hour to be served.
Nice hotel and room was good staff helpful
Good location
Hot small room, with a lot of light outside the window. Had to leave curtains open to try & get some air.
The bathroom was a decent size and great decorated
The tv is dated and the decoration of the room was also dated
This is very close to the station and the property is located in a quiet neighborhood. The property is on an old building but is very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is also within walking distance from the main city center area so can walk easily to the Cathedral. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. They also have breakfast and dining options. I would recommend this place to everyone.
The check in was efficient, staff friendly, and the hotel and car park very central to Durham. The room was well equipped.
The room was quite small for the price.
Easy walk into Durham City centre. Comfortable room, good breakfast.
Bed was comfortable. That's it really.
Sink was blocked in the bathroom and took hours to drain. Small window which was painted shut at the bottom. Tatty bathroom with dusty floor. No pen and paper in the room when I needed to write down a phone number. Poor breakfast selection and had to ask staff to go and get proper tea bags, teaspoons, and there were cups with no saucers. Poor selection of food. The floor in the breakfast area was grossly sticky underfoot.
Staff very friendly. Location good . Breakfast very nice .
Friendly staff, clean hotel with lovely beer garden and on site car park. Our room was great, ground floor that over looked the beer garden.
Little bit expensive and a good 10-15 min walk to bars, restaurants and shops.
Near to the train station and short walk into town
Beautiful setting.
Limited parking.
Very clean and modern bathroom. Comfortable beds. Quiet location.
Overall the place felt dated. Overpriced. Breakfast disappointing.
location to the town centre was great, about 10 min walk. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice. Generally nice place to stay.
A shelf in the bathroom would have been useful. Room was a little small but cosy, Struggled in the heat but this was the same everywhere.
Just outside the city center but. Lose enough to walk. Food was good. Staff friendly and helpful. It was hot and a small fan was provided.
My room was small and felt more like a dormitory room than an Inn or hotel. And very dark. Window opened only on top so no ability to get a breeze.
The Kingslodge Inn is close to Durham station and a short walk from the city center. It is a nice looking building on a quiet streets end.
My room had no ventilation or cooling system, apart from a window, and it was a very hot day. I was located at the back of the building so leaving my window open meant the pleasures of the contant noise of some kind of ventilation- or kitchen system. There was nobody present at checkout when I had to leave early, which was not clearly communicated.
Location is fine; walkable to town, but nice & quiet Good cooked breakfast & evening meal.
Room small & v hot. To be fair, it was a heatwave, but sash window only opened a bit. Air con is impractical but a fan might have helped. Fresh options at breakfast v limited, and coffee poor.
