Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham

Receptionist staff are lovely. The restaurant was a different story. The staff seem to hide in the kitchen The screens partitioning the restaurant and staff is a terrible idea. It really detracts from the service and ambience. We told the waitress my son’s potatoes under his sea bass were raw and she said oh dear! There was no follow-up. We made a decision not to have a pudding or book for breakfast at that point.

The decor in the bedrooms is dated and like a travel lodge . The restaurant is completely with out ambience and staff think service is putting your food in the table. Overpriced and not worth it

Great location, fabulous staff - when we arrived to check in there was a wedding party bustling about, people checking in, lots of queries - the fabulous woman on reception was unflappable!

The room was very warm and AC not great

The location was excellent. The breakfast was excellent and everything was topped up when required. The staff were friendly and obliging. The river view room was a good size and the outlook was very pleasant

On arrival I complained about the ac and they provided a fan until the next day.Next day I asked again and was told that someone would come but they never did. On the first day we returned at 1600 hours to find our room had not been made up.I talked to the staff on the registration desk and they told me would be on priority for the next three days.Next day same story and I was informed that our name had been added to the wrong list. Talking to the cleaning staff and the impression was of a shortage of cleaners and a high turnover. One girl I spoke to wasn’t a cleaner but had been reassigned to make up the numbers. On our last night we tried to reserve a table in the restaurant and were informed that they had two bus parties that night and there was no space for us. Eventually they did manage to find a space and all was well. Registration desk appears understaffed when they have several people arriving and consequently phoning from the room is almost a thankless task unless you are determined.

Location . First class comfortable bed . No noise from adjoining rooms .

Expensive parking. Room safe fitted at floor level so hard to access. Shower in bath . Not enough fruit or availability of porridge at breakfast buffet without requesting it . Some city noise not adequately cut out as aging windows not fitting very well .

Arrived at approximately 8pm and was allocated an accessible room (not booked). The room showed signs of wear in places. When flushing the toilet it made a horrendous noise which, when using it during the night, woke up my partner and I’m sure it would have been heard in the adjoining room. I would probably not have mentioned these things but I paid £278 for one night so would expect much better!

Room was excellent with comfortable bed. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice although dinner was not as good as I expected.

Breakfast was fantastic especially the pancakes which are freshly made . Do many options to choice from too.

All the staff are a complete credit to the hotel. We stayed for our wedding in Durham and the staff were beyond faultless. The room was immaculate, we had Prosecco in a wine cooler as a gift and even pre-wedding snacks! It was all amazing.

Riverside location. Spacious, comfortable room overlooking the river. Swimming pool and jacuzzi. Free water refill on each floor. Secure (payable) parking. Bus stop outside hotel to go up to Castle and Cathedral

Central hotel in Durham with car park. Short walk across the river to restaurants and bars. Good facilities.

Parking is a substantial daily charge extra even as a hotel guest.

The location is excellent overlooking the River Wearr with its riverside walks and accessibility to the City. The hotel was situated on a quiet road. Breakfast was also very good with loose leaf teas and oat coffees a welcome extra.

The 'king size. Bed was 2 singles roughly put together which made it uncomfortable in the middle. The bathrooms are ready for a makeover

We had a spacious, super clean and very comfortable family room on the 4th floor. Super comfortable bed. Swimming pool was great for a morning swim. All facilities were clean. Location is great - right on the river, short walk to the city center.

One night is pricey

All the staff where really friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel and room was really clean and they cleaned, replaced towels etc in-between nights there. The breakfast was nice, although there was an issue with the pancake machine on the first morning but when my son told staff it wasn't working they came and sorted it for him straight away. They are really welcoming and friendly with children. The location is good for the city centre it is a abit of a walk but we don't mind that.

There wasn't really anything to not like about the hotel, the restaurant food is on the expensive side but we just went and ate elsewhere. The pool could maybe do with more family changing rooms as it can be difficult with kids to get changed, if your on your own as a woman with a boy that is over 7, the boy has go change in the boys changing area on their own.

The room was spacious and comfortable, especially liked the sitting area by the window - it was excellent for relaxing and enjoying the view. The staff were brilliant, really helpful and great to have a laugh with. Possibly the best hotel gym I have seen. The pool was also very nice. Overall, a great hotel, very clean and just minutes away from the city centre.

Service charge on every drink when going to the bar

Room was spacious and clean - en-suite bathroom too. All the staff we met were pleasant and courteous. Breakfast was great with plenty of options. Check in and check out were smooth. No hidden costs. Room service pizza was apparently good! Lovely elevated view of the river / the cathedral from our room.

The room was a little stuffy (we stayed at the height of summer) and there was no obvious way of adjusting the temperature.

The hotel is right next to the beautiful river. Right in the centre of Durham and not far from the train station. Very comfy beds. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Spacious rooms. Came here for a work function and it was great.

Dirt dust and cobwebs, we had to change rooms from 209 to 368 which wasn't much better, never again this was a treat for are weeding anniversary, pictures attached.

The reception staff were amazing. We had a great welcome and a smooth check in. The next day I spoke to the staff, we were not leaving until 3, was there anywhere we could store our suitcases, while we did the final bit of sightseeing. They were brilliant. Then on the final day, the reception staff were top class, storing our suitcases, before we left Durham in the afternoon

Limited to no facilities in the room. No shower gel and hand soap and one towel for two adults. For a superior room and the cost this isn’t an acceptable service.

Pillows had no support there was a stain on bedding. No steam room however we can understand breakdowns do happen.

Car parking was not guaranteed. The restaurant service was very slow and staff inattentive. The food served on cold plates and only satisfactory.

I received what I have come to expect after visiting this hotel several times. Staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed. The location for me is perfect.

There was nothing I disliked. The breakfast was a little bit disappointing. No tomatoes or black pudding. All the fried eggs and hash browns had run out and there was no one to ask so I felt that it was lacking slightly. Just having a member of staff there to keep an eye on things would have been helpful.

Breakfast and resturant staff looked like they wanted to be anywhere but where they were. Limited friendly engagement, no smiles.

Double room was 2 x singles connected together. We couldn't sleep together as it meant lying on the joint which was uncomfortable. I booked a double!! On check i wasn't asked "How my stay"? Otherwise I would have informed them of my displeasure.

The bedroom floor wasnt hoovered, lots of dust. No fridge in the room, the shower wasn't very good, Aircon hard to control, staff didn't let you know where things like the gym/spa were. Few of the lockers worked in the gym.

Totally amazing loved it and highly recommended to anyone we will be returning again soon
