Amazing rooms, great bed, wonderful bathrooms, beautiful lobby and hallways; excellent sabrage - exactly like it should be formal, music, everything one would expect
Cannot give 10/10 as many of the staff dont speak english and gym/pool area locker rooms and sauna/steam feel very dated and unclean
Top of the top
Nothing

I stayed at The St. Regis Chengdu expecting the level of service and trust associated with the St. Regis name. Unfortunately, my experience left me deeply disappointed. At check-in, I understood that I was receiving a complimentary room upgrade. I repeatedly asked whether the upgrade was complimentary and SPECIFICALLY stated that we would only stay that night if it was. I was later charged 900 RMB per night for four nights, for a total of 3,600 RMB. Which was a huge surprise bill as you can imagine and ruined my week. The hotel maintains that the paid upgrade was explained and that I signed paperwork confirming it. My recollection is very different. The representative told me that the handwritten 900 RMB amount was presented to me to "show me the value of the upgrade I was receiving as complimentary", not as a nightly charge I was knowingly accepting. I even tried to confirm verbally that it was indeed complimentary afterwards to which she reassured me. Due to the reputation of the St. Regis brand of hotels, I unfortunately took her words at face value. Had I understood that the suite would cost an additional 3,600 RMB, I would have declined immediately as I've never paid for a hotel upgrade in my life. I gave the hotel every opportunity to resolve this privately and in good faith. Their response acknowledged that there had been a misunderstanding and that they would improve their verbal and written upgrade procedures, yet they still refused to reconsider the charge. I have stayed nearly 300 nights at Marriott properties and have never experienced anything like this. What disturbed me most was not simply the money, but the loss of confidence in the hotel’s communication and billing practices. Guests should be extremely careful to confirm every upgrade charge in writing before signing anything here. A luxury hotel should make important charges unmistakably clear, especially when a guest repeatedly asks whether something is complimentary. I had hoped the hotel would handle this fairly. Unfortunately, they chose not to.
Very nice room in very good location. Excellent staffs
Concierge Simon was exceptional - A great example of what top notch hospitality looks like. Smart, discreet and attentive. Breakfast was varied and of good quality.
Lobby seating area could be better.
I stayed two nights at the St. Regis Chengdu on a great rate through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts. The location is convenient, with lots of small restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops nearby. The hotel (and the attached dying mall) appears to be owned by the troubled China Evergrande group but is managed by Marriott. This ownership structure may partly explain some signs of age and maintenance/staffing challenges, though staffing shortages have been a common issue at luxury hotels across major Chinese cities for years. The lobby is bright and well laid out with comfortable seating. Service is well-staffed with bellboys, a solid concierge, and butlers on hand. Check-in around 2:30 pm hit a busy rush hour, creating some lobby chaos with crowds checking in and out. The staff handled it professionally with a clear queue system and stayed composed. My room on the 26th floor had impressively high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows with nice city views, and a massive two-person desk — great for business travelers. The king bed was huge and soft, linens were high-quality and in excellent condition, and the room was perfectly clean (housekeeping is strong). The spacious bathroom featured a luxury Japanese toilet that automatically opens as you approach and closes when you walk away. It was fun the first couple of times but became irritating when it kept activating while simply brushing my teeth or moving around the bathroom. A couple of minor issues: The room had a faint “sweaty” smell noticeable mainly upon entry. There were no in-room coffee/tea facilities (butler service covers this), and water was stingy (only 2-3 bottles initially in hot weather). Refills via butler arrived after a couple phone calls (~15 minutes). My end-of-hall room was quiet except for one neighbor party that ended by 10:30 pm. As a Marriott Platinum member, breakfast was complimentary. It had decent variety (Western and Chinese options), but execution felt more 3-star than St. Regis level — items like passionfruit looked tired, fried eggs piled high in advance, and the atmosphere turned frenetic after 7 am (Saturday was noticeably busier and more chaotic than Sunday). Staff were helpful seating me in a quieter spot when asked - but if not asked, they seat each guest in the most crowded parts of the restaurant. The health club has a large, nice indoor swimming pool with plenty of seating and a full-time lifeguard (note: like many pools in China, you need a swim cap). There are also two outdoor pools that are pleasant on hot days but unheated. The gym itself is spacious, bright (floor-to-ceiling windows), clean, and well-equipped. Unfortunately, the shower facilities were surprisingly disappointing and well below brand standards — mildew stains, calcified showerheads, hanging plastic seals, and general poor maintenance even though I saw housekeeping actively trying to clean. This made me question overall operations and hygiene standards elsewhere (including kitchens). I tried the dinner buffet in the Western restaurant (~358 RMB) around 8 pm. It was subpar. Many dishes (especially seafood and sushi) were picked over or empty with little replenishment effort. The hot pot options were fun to try (spicy and non-spicy), and one baked oyster was excellent, but overall it felt more like a 2-3 star hotel buffet than a luxury St. Regis experience. I wouldn’t return, even if free — Chengdu has far better dining options. This property feels like it peaked 10-15 years ago. While the core luxury setup (high ceilings, big desk, views) and service professionalism are there, maintenance, food & beverage execution, and certain facilities fall short of what you’d expect from the St. Regis brand — especially at comparable prices to other top-tier hotels in Chengdu. I love the St. Regis brand in general, but I wouldn’t choose this location again unless significant updates happen.
As a loyal patron of international ultra-luxury portfolios and a frequent suite traveler, I choose the St. Regis brand for its historic commitment to uncompromising elegance and anticipatory service. However, my recent stay in a St. Regis Suite at The St. Regis Chengdu was a textbook case in systemic operational failure. From arrival logistics to the fundamental core of hospitality—a restorative night’s sleep—this property completely failed to execute basic luxury standards. For the benefit of discerning global travelers and the property's executive leadership, here is a professional diagnostic of the breakdowns during my stay: 1. Failure of Arrival Logistics & Front-of-House Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) The St. Regis guest journey is supposed to begin seamlessly at the curbside. Upon my arrival, there was a total absence of doorman greeters or proactive bell staff engagement; no one opened the vehicle doors or offered luggage assistance. Staff only assisted after an explicit, proactive request from my end. Furthermore, during check-in, the front desk agent informed me that the indoor swimming pool was closed. Not only was this communication a complete surprise due to a total lack of pre-arrival notification (despite extensive email correspondence prior to check-in), but the information itself was contradictory. An hour later, the Duty Manager informed me the pool was, in fact, open. This level of internal information asymmetry points to a severe fragmentation in inter-departmental communication. 2. Complete Breakdown of Guest-Profile Utilization & Suite Architectural Integrity Luxury hospitality thrives on personalization. My guest profile within the global luxury loyalty ecosystem explicitly details my stay preferences, and I reinforced this via multiple pre-arrival emails explicitly stating: I am an incredibly light sleeper and require an ultra-quiet room to ensure sleep quality. The room assignment I received completely ignored this directive. The assigned St. Regis Suite featured an incomprehensible "dual-door" architectural layout, where the master bed was positioned less than three meters from a secondary exterior corridor door, with zero acoustic buffering or secondary partitions between the bed and the hallway. As a result, every footstep, conversation, and door-slam from the public corridor reverberated directly into the bedroom. For an ultra-luxury property to assign such an acoustically compromised room to a guest who explicitly requested high-standard sleep acoustics represents a severe failure in room-blocking strategy. 3. Critical Housekeeping and Quality Assurance (QA) Infraction The physical sanitation of the suite was equally compromised. Upon inspection, I discovered a dried rose petal left behind by a previous occupant wedged deep between the sofa cushions and behind the accent pillows. In the luxury segment, a failure to clear guest touchpoints and remove traces of previous occupants is a critical QA infraction. It proves that the room attendant’s cleaning process was merely cosmetic and that the floor supervisor’s mandatory double-check protocol before releasing the room status was non-existent. 4. Mechanical & Engineering Malfunction Paired with Disproportionate Service Recovery To compound the acoustic disturbance, the suite’s air conditioning system malfunctioned entirely, leaving the room at a stifling, humid 24°C (75°F) throughout the night. Plagued by corridor noise and a hot room, my family's sleep quality was utterly destroyed—objective metrics from my Apple Watch registered a dismal sleep score of 70. The ultimate luxury a hotel can deliver is a flawless night of sleep. When these compounding hardware and software failures were brought to the management's attention, the response from the Duty Manager and Housekeeping Supervisor was insultingly perfunctory: they simply removed the petal and offered a 500 RMB Mini-bar credit along with a St. Regis teddy bear. Attempting to mitigate a total collapse of brand standards, room acoustics, and mechanical integrity with a minor food-and-beverage credit and a stuffed toy demonstrates a profound lack of luxury acumen and inadequate service recovery empowerment. Final Assessment The St. Regis Chengdu is currently sacrificing uncompromising luxury standards for operational convenience or occupancy velocity. This experience did not just fall short of expectations; it systematically dismantled the legacy of the brand. I do not require superficial corporate platitudes in response; I expect the General Manager and the regional operational leadership to conduct a comprehensive audit of their preventive maintenance, QA workflows, and executive service recovery frameworks.

Very large room with two floor to ceiling windows, comfortable king size bed and large desk to work from the room. Beautiful bathroom with shower and tub. Very rich breakfast.
size, comfort and location
none
The butler service was exceptional, fulfilling all requests—including restaurant reservations—in under 10 minutes. Staff were proactive, remembering our needs and replenishing water without being asked. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and our high-floor room offered a refreshing, stunning skyline view. The gym is excellent, featuring treadmills with virtual views of Gardens by the Bay, and the pool facilities, including a steam room and sauna, were a great addition
Payment was requested in full upon check-in rather than using a credit card hold, which unfortunately resulted in a less favorable exchange rate due to the proximity to the weekend. Regarding room allocation, we didn't get our preferred room as we arrived late and had not specified our preferences in writing; I would advise future guests to send an email explicitly detailing their room type and view requests. Additionally, communication with the front desk was challenging, and we had to switch rooms three times. Finally, be aware that a swimming cap is mandatory for the indoor pool, which must be purchased at the counter if you don't have one. We also found the pool shower facilities inconvenient, as the staff failed to monitor and replenish the shower cream, shampoo, and conditioner when they ran out
The facilities and the staff especially Alan the concierge was very helpful. The butler service provided was excellent.
Nothing.
There was a cigarette smell in many of the rooms, so we had to change rooms twice because of it.
the room was quite comfortable, although the decoration was too old fashioned.
The location, in particuliar, it was difficult to find good restaurants in the neighbourhood. The breakfast was kind of "poor", and I was very upset about this, especially because I have paid two breakfasts for one person. Indeed, I made a mistake when booking the room, but it should have been quite simple to correct this, and not to have me pay 2 breakfasts! About the staff, they are not very warm-welcoming 😒!
Great location.
The outdoor swimming pool was out of service
I had a truly wonderful experience during my stay at The St. Regis Chengdu. From the moment I arrived, the service was absolutely excellent and exceeded my expectations in every way. The room was beautifully designed and thoughtfully prepared, with impressive attention to detail. Every element—from the comfort of the bed to the elegant décor and amenities—reflected the hotel’s commitment to quality and guest comfort. It felt luxurious yet warm and welcoming at the same time. A special thank you to the butler, Jerry, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care made a real difference. He was always ready to assist with a smile and ensured everything was perfectly arranged for us. His outstanding service truly elevated our experience. I highly recommend The St. Regis Chengdu to anyone looking for a refined and memorable stay. I will definitely return on my next visit to Chengdu!
St Regis Chengdu totally lived up to our very high expectations. Our stay, though short, was fantastic. The check-in was smooth. Our rooms were upgraded in recognition of my Titanium Elite. They were comfortable, spacious and luxurious. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of both local and western choices. But most of all, I would like to thank the attentive butler team for all their effort in making our stay special.
Everything was great.
We liked everything
We moved from the Ritz Chengdu and loved the St Regis. Spent two nights in a Lafayette suite. The room was clean and comfortable and the tub was huge. Lynn was great and welcoming at check-in. Suey was very helpful in the gym. The staff at breakfast were hard working and the food was delicious. The highlight of our stay, however, was the awesome butler, Jade Qu. She was friendly, hospitable, and always available via WeChat. She met us from the first day and messaged my wife including after hours at night to check on us and provide recommendations around Chengdu. Jade is a fantastic representative of the St. Regis brand. We have stayed at seven St. Regis properties throughout China so far and Jade was by far the best butler we’ve encountered in China. She truly elevated our experience and made this stay memorable.
The hotel enjoys an excellent location with luxurious and elegant decor, and transportation is highly convenient.
1. The iconic St. Regis butler service was completely unavailable throughout the stay. There were no service guidelines, no butler service reminder cards, and no introduction to butler amenities in the room. During my two-night stay, none of the brand’s standard butler services were proactively provided. 2. The housekeeping staff left a cleaning cloth behind in the room after turndown service. In addition, tea and coffee sachets were not replenished during the service. 3. Housekeeping supervisor showed a lack of professional boundaries and disturbed the guest’s rest. Even with the Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed in the room, still made an unsolicited room phone call, which his colleague said he will contact my by cellphone, unnecessarily disrupting our privacy and afternoon rest. He called to apologize for the cleaning cloth left in the room, and promised to send complimentary fruit around 6:00–6:30 p.m. as a gesture of apology. However, when we returned to the room at 10:00 p.m., no fruit had been delivered. We did not care about the gift itself, but this incident clearly reflected serious disorganization and poor internal coordination within the hotel. The next day upon check-out, a front desk staff member rushed out with the gift and delivered it to us right beside our car. 4. A concierge young guy behaved very unprofessionally. He was frequently seen fooling around and chatting casually with female front desk colleagues during working hours. On the evening , a teddy bear decoration at the lobby was knocked over by a child. Instead of stepping forward to straighten it up and tidy up the area, he took out his phone, laughed, and showed the scene to his colleague. As guests, we found this behaviour highly unprofessional and inappropriate for a luxury hotel setting. By contrast, other concierge team members performed their duties excellently and are truly commendable.

we’re taking care by butler name JADE which introduced me the hospitality of Chengdu. The team consists of KATHERINE, ZOEY, ALEM and the rest of the team( sorry forgetting the rest of the team name)
spent 2 nights at this superb hotel; all of us (the National Geographic group) wished that we could have stayed longer. Excellent breakfast selections for Asians as well as us Westerners. Additionally Lucas S. was most helpful when I tried to get stamps for my postcards. While the hotel itself didn't have any, the person at the ground floor would be able to handle it. It's not always easy to find someone who speaks fluent English, even at the top hotels. Lucas was terrific!! Mailing postcards from the various cities/countries I travel to means a lot. Thanks, Lucas!! You made my day.
Incredible service, from the warm welcome from the front desk staff who speak excellent English, friendly housekeeping staff, huge room which was impeccably clean, delicious buffet breakfast spread, complimentary water, tea and coffee served by the butler and the opportunity to join the champagne sabering experience.
More could be done to be environmentally-friendly, such as not changing slippers daily and an option for guests to specify not to change bedding/towels.
Breakfast's food range and quality was very good. We also like the hotel room's contemporary decor.
Hotel room is spacious and nice. Location is excellent ! Hotel staffs are professional, helpful and friendly.

the overall experience was remarkable and the staff were very attentive and co operative. The property is near the city hub and shopping area and it is easy to walk about the area. Special mention to Aimee, the FB director for ensuring that vegetarian food was always available for us. Pavel and his team made the stay all the more memorable
There was an issue with the air conditioning on the last 2 days and the room was a little warm. The engineering team tried their best to resolve the situation.
I recently stayed at The St. Regis Chengdu for one night on March 14th with a friend, and the entire experience was absolutely phenomenal. The absolute highlight of our stay was the legendary St. Regis Butler Service. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Alissa and Irene from the butler team. Their service was incredibly attentive, meticulous, and warm throughout our short trip. Whether it was standard assistance or in-room service, they handled everything flawlessly and truly made us feel pampered. We were thrilled to receive a discounted upgrade to a St. Regis Suite, and the team even provided a complimentary extra bed for us, which made traveling with a friend so much more convenient. The suite itself was magnificent—the decor was exquisitely luxurious while remaining exceedingly comfortable. Beyond the room, the hotel experiences were deeply memorable. We were invited to participate in the signature St. Regis Champagne Sabering Evening Ritual, which was a fantastic and delightful surprise. Later, we tried the "Sichuan-style Margarita" at the lounge, which was a very fun, unique local twist! The next morning, we were treated to a remarkably rich and abundant breakfast spread. Overall, it was a deeply satisfying stay. Thank you to the entire team—especially Alissa and Irene—for going above and beyond. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chengdu!
I truly enjoyed my stay. Spacious and clean rooms to start with. The bathroom has my favorite two-sink setup so leaving in a pinch is very easy. The bed is 2.1m wide, the mattress soft enough for me without losing support, but there weren't enough memory foam pillows to go around. The wide and comfy bed made it almost like home for sleeps. During winters or cooler days the bathroom's floor heating makes shower and the cleaning routine a joy in itself. I didn't have enough luggage to make good use of the renowned butler service. The only use I liked and used frequently is the daily coffee and tea services.
Location, staff, size of rooms and value for money
Slightly dated decor (but this is a minor point) we could it fault our time in chengdu
I stayed at St. Regis Chengdu for a week during my visit in early January for a New Year trip. I booked the stay through Virtuoso, which came with benefits such as hotel credit. I used the credit at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, and the food was good. It's definitely a nice perk of the stay. One small downside was that we did not receive a room upgrade. However, given that it was peak season, this was understandable and not a major issue for me. In general, most of the staff do not speak English fluently, which made communication a bit challenging at times. That said, despite the language barrier, I could still feel their friendliness and willingness to help, and overall the service was decent. What truly stood out during my stay, and what I want to highlight the most, was the exceptional help from a concierge named Xu Lin. Xu Lin assisted me tremendously with a complicated Taobao refund that I was struggling with. The process involved multiple issues and lasted several days, yet he consistently went far beyond what would normally be expected of him. Xu Lin was born in South Africa, so we were able to communicate very well in English. He directly contacted the pickup driver on my behalf and handled all the coordination. Even on his days off, he continued to stay in touch with me via chat to make sure everything was progressing smoothly. Thanks to his dedication and persistence, I was ultimately able to successfully refund items worth nearly USD 700, which was an incredible relief. I want to give my highest praise and heartfelt gratitude to Xu Lin. Without his help, my experience in Chengdu honestly would not have been as positive and would have fallen quite flat. He truly made a difference in my stay. Please extend my greetings and thanks to Xu Lin. I sincerely hope to stay at St. Regis Chengdu again on my next visit.
I booked this hotel through Amex FHR for the added benefits. I know Google reviews are not accessible in China, but I still wanted future travelers to be aware of my experience. The stay was not terrible, but it also was not impressive. Through FHR, I received a room upgrade to a corner room with large windows on two sides, which made the space feel bright and more open. My brother also booked through FHR, but his room was not upgraded at all, which surprised us. We attempted early check in, but no rooms were available. We were eventually notified via WeChat around 2:40 pm that our rooms were ready. One thing worth noting is the pricing. When I originally booked, the rates were quite high. I paid $221 per night, but when I checked again about two weeks before arrival, the same room was selling for $118 per night. Seeing the price drop by nearly half made the value feel even more questionable. The St. Regis brand is known for prestige, but this location in Chengdu did not quite live up to that reputation. The price point made sense once we saw the condition of the rooms. While the staff were polite, the rooms were clearly dated. Our bathroom especially needed a refresh. The grout was yellowed and black in places, there were cracks throughout, and the shower fixtures were falling apart. One night, the shower would not fully turn off and kept dripping. On top of that, the pillows were awful. They offered no support, and even stacking them did not help. My neck hurt badly for two nights. Very few staff members spoke English, which I understand since most of their guests are local Chinese travelers. That said, visitors should be prepared for a lot of noise and disorder throughout the hotel. There were frequent loud confrontations and children running around unsupervised. It is unfortunate, because China could be an incredible destination for tourists, but the lack of basic courtesy and order really detracts from the experience. With the FHR benefit, we were given a $100 credit, or ¥700 at the time of our visit. This credit could only be used at their buffet restaurant called Social, or toward laundry, limo service, or the spa. The terms stated no accumulations, which was confusing. My understanding was that if the buffet cost $55 per person, my husband and I could fully use the credit. However, my brother stayed alone, so he could only use $55 and lost the remaining value. That was disappointing, especially since other FHR hotels we have stayed at never imposed this kind of restriction. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I honestly do not think this hotel belongs in the FHR program.
Location
We got bitten by bed bugs!!! the room was stinky since we walked in and not cleaned. Breakfast was terrible. Food there was very disappointing. The staff were really unpleasant.
As expected from the St Regis brand, staff were welcoming and service was attentive. The room was spacious and facilities were very clean. A short 10min walk away from IFS and Taikooli. Lots of restaurants close by. Buffett spread was large and food was delicious.
Nothing!
Personeel was zeer behulpzaam.
The room was fantastic and location quite good. Gym very good also
The staff in the Social restaurant were terrible. It was exceptionally quiet and I waited almost half an hour for a gin and tonic. There was only 1 other table in and the service was terrible. There were plenty of staff on but seemed more interested in cleaning an empty table or chatting than serving efficiently. My dessert was shoved down on the table and I had to get up and ask for a spoon myself. Really disappointing given the food was quite nice and not cheap.
Good service , nice room
Breakfast could be better for international travelers
I booked a suite at the St. Regis, expecting the consistent excellence associated with the brand. Unfortunately, this property falls far short of the standards set by St. Regis hotels in places like Japan or Europe. The experience was downright disappointing. Upon arrival, they attempted to assign me two rooms that reeked unmistakably of cigarette smoke. When I complained, the staff offered bizarre excuses about the air circulation system, as if non-smokers were imagining the stench—especially egregious since we were traveling with a 9-year-old child. Only after persistent complaints did they provide an upgrade. The new room was free of smoke odor, which was the bare minimum, but the extra square footage was irrelevant; I had already booked a suite. Overall, the staff appears junior and inexperienced, delivering service that is mediocre at best. The sharpness, attentiveness, and professionalism one expects from a luxury hotel are conspicuously absent. Breakfast is decent, though basic items like smoked salmon were not proactively offered and had to be specifically requested. Room preparing for the night is minimal. The low point was discovering visible mold around the air conditioning unit—an unforgivable lapse in maintenance for a hotel positioning itself as five-star luxury. In the end, this was a thoroughly disappointing stay that fails to live up to the global reputation and promises of the St. Regis brand.
The room is spacious and luxurious.
Nothing.
