I loved the rooms and how clean they were!
The bedroom doors were kind of odd
The room service breakfast was excellent
The room was pretty tattered and quite dusty. The baseboards were filthy and the bathroom shower seemed very old. Unfortunately we were there on a Sunday evening and many of the restaurants and lounges were closed so we only had one option and that was bar food at the pub for dinner. The bartenders were were really nice.
Classic old hotel with good history and great facilities.
Beautiful hotel, had a corner suite with an attached living room, very spacious. AC worked great and the showers were amazing. Room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. Gave us a free breakfast voucher for the restaurant down stairs and the food was excellent.
Breakfast was very fulfilling and lots of choice. Fresh cooked bacon and eggs. Lots of fresh fruit and yogurt tea coffee and fresh orange. Table service was excellent
Nothing to add
There was a watermaine break and they allowed us to believe we could check in later in the day and there was no water at 1000 pm at night with no phone call from them after my daughter’s wedding … really got screwed not happy !

I want to start by saying that the hotel options in Syracuse seem pretty limited. Based on word of mouth, I was told this was the best place to stay when visiting. And i will stay here again after seeing what you else is around. I slept well, so no complaints there, but if this is truly the best option in the area, Syracuse could definitely use some better hotel choices. The staff was very nice, but the property felt like a hotel that was probably impressive years ago and hasn’t kept up since. The lobby is huge but strangely sparse, with very little furniture, which made it feel oddly empty. Even the Marriott sign out front isn’t centered, which somehow felt symbolic. And the elevator honestly felt haunted — not even joking. At the end of the day, I got a good night’s sleep, but overall it felt like an old, average hotel. The surrounding area also seemed pretty run-down, with storefronts for lease and a noticeable homeless population nearby. Maybe that’s just downtown Syracuse — this was my first time visiting the area.
I needed to visit Syracuse for business and stayed at this Marriott. Since my business in town involved meetings, I also reserved a conference room on the 10th floor. The staff here was very helpful, accommodating, and easy to work with when booking the conference room. They were equally helpful when I arrived and needed access. The room had a TV in it as well as a large table and it was comfortable for the all day meeting we had. Regarding my staff, checking in was great. The folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They have an M Club here, which I visited a couple of times. I wanted bottled water, which they don’t have in the M Club, rather you need to get it from the front desk. They use water refilling stations in the M Club, which I hate when staying in a hotel, I’d rather have the bottled water in the fridge in my room, so I’m glad they were able to accommodate me on this. The guy working the M Club both times I visited (in the evenings) was great, friendly too! The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL! Honestly, I stay in hotels weekly and I’m pretty much done with the typical design of the average Marriott and this one breaks that mold! It’s historic, beautifully renovated, perfectly operational, and centrally located. My room was very nice! They upgraded me to a suite and when they told me this during check in, I wasn’t too impressed, as I hear that I’m “upgraded” all the time, but when I get to the room, they look typical. This room was HUGE! It had a living room, two king size bedrooms, and two full baths in it. The living room had a nice desk and plenty of seating for a family. There were also 3 TVs in this room. Bathrooms in the rooms were beautifully renovated to have a period look and they worked nicely. Housekeeping even did a nice job keeping everything polished in this room. Overall, I really enjoyed this stay. I’d most definitely return here in the future!
My 29 week pregnant wife and I were traveling for work at this location and while I was showering a bat came down from the ceiling. I’m still not sure how it got in as all the windows were closed but nevertheless was a very unpleasant experience. This seems to have happened before according to the people who came and got it out. I recognize this is out of the control of employees at this location but I do believe this an important aspect to consider if you are choosing to travel here with children or in my case a pregnant wife and our dog.
Our room was large so was also the bathroom. Shower old fashioned, fixed to the wall. The towels were changed every day, what a waste! Bes was good. All our group hated how cold all the hotel was, sitting in the meetings coat on is not normal! In the room it was possible to get normal temp but nowhere else.
Didn’t eat the breakfast but room service was fantastic.
Was a little loud in the hallway when we were trying to go to sleep.
Location for s road trip stopover
The noise and not very clean
It was clean and the historic decor was a plus!
The on-site food choices were mediocre.

Had liever een queensize bed gehad en meer kamer-ruimte als individuele reiziger
The rooms and banquet facilities were nice, but the desk people and the finance office are seriously subpar. They have placed a hold on my debit card/checking account that is still in place ten days after my stay which was paid in full when I checked out. The staff will not take the time to understand my issue and the finance office has not returned any of the three messages I have left ion Voicemail, if someone would take the time to listen to what happened the problem could be resolved in seconds but they all tell me that what happened is not in accordance with their policies so I must e wrong. This is not customer service, this is lazy people who won’t take the time to listen
The hotel was fine. It's a beautiful period building, so the lobby and communal areas are impressive, but as a result, the rooms are quite old-fashioned. That said, it was comfortable enough and perfectly adequate for a two night business stay. Location was great for downtown Syracuse.
The breakfast was pretty awful, especially considering it's not bundled in. I skipped it on day two. The pillows are way too soft. The bed had too much paraphernalia on it -blankets, cushions. Makes getting into bed a right faff! Like all hotels, it needs more lights.
Absoutley gorgeous!
Could use some updates in the bathroom
Absolutely the worst experience at a hotel ever. First, I am on a walker from knee replacement surgery There is no handicap entrance to get in. The room had a bed that was waist high and impossible to get in and out of comfortably There was no chair to sit on it to put on shoes or socks. The Marriot shuttle that took us to dinner was so high to step into that a six foot man had trouble getting in. No step stool was provided. The noise from the next room woke me in the middle of the night. After a rough night the coffee maker didn’t work. And I’ve got two more nights!!
Loved the 1920s charm-was not expecting that. Close to attractions.
There was some leftover food in mini fridge.
Beautiful hotel. Great on site Irish Pub. Large room as nd bathroom on the 12th floor. We didn't turn down the bed until 9:30 pm and discovered the sheet were not clean with hair and black fuzzies covering one side of the bed. Still waiting 40 minutes later for new sheets. Disappointing.
Although we had a nice check-in experience with Joel, everything went downhill after check-in. The property has an old historic feel, some would enjoy that. I booked a larger 2 queen and the room was spacious, though the bathroom was narrow. The room appeared relatively clean. We were inconvenienced by maintenance issues during our stay. When I attempted to open the glass sliding shower door, the handle became dislodged at the top end, and remained hanging down (and inconvenient) throughout the remainder of our stay. Also, the toilet tissue spindle dislodged itself every single time we used it, highly inconvenient. I mentioned both of these issues twice to front desk staff. The first time was via phone, but because they were busy fixing a larger building-wide issue, they seemed distracted and uncaring about my small maintenance issues. The big issue was that the thermostat in the entire building was not working. The temperature was in the 20s, and I reported, shortly after check-in, that our heater was not heating our room. They sent someone from maintenance, who fiddled around inside, and declared it "fixed." We left for dinner, and returned to a chilly room and thermostat still not working. We were then informed that the entire property was affected, and there was no estimated time that functionality would be restored. They finally got it working very late that evening, but it made for an uncomfortable evening. We decided to check out early, after our first evening. They were nice about allowing us to do so. Upon checkout, a staff member asked "How was your stay?" To which I replied, "We had a lot of issues." She said, "Sorry to hear that" but she did not inquire any further about the nature of the issues, For me, there was just not an acceptable level of service at this property. I selected it because of convenient location, but I think I would choose a different place to stay next time.
Parking is inconvenient- rooms are very old models. Nothing is modernization.
Great rooms
very nice historical building
It looks beautiful, large rooms and bathroom, super comfortable beds ,bedding and pillows. High end Irish pub in basement with bar and food with great prices!!!
Pas grand chose
La vétusté le bruit
Everything. Room and facilities were great, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Staff was friendly. I didn’t make any special requests during my booking, but I mentioned that I got married in that day. Hotel staff gave us 2 unexpected gifts! 1000% recommend!
Nothing
The breakfast location was nice. The staff at the restaurant were friendly .
The chair in the bedroom was in bad shape. They can use a cover if they can't change it. The bathroom needs more attention. One side of the sink was clogged. The toilet paper holder was didn't stay in place. Every time you touch it was falling. There were so many extension cords around the bedroom. One of the lamps never turn on. The shower wasn't very clean. The wallpaper was a little damage in some places.
That was the squeakiest room door I have ever had in all my years of traveling
Tradition
Le style de l’hôtel, vraiment spécial.
Le séjour s’est bien déroulé
The location was good
We found a bed bug in our bed. The hotel refunded the full amount back to my card. They did offer us another room but I didn’t feel comfortable so we left. It was very surprising to find a bed bug at a reputable hotel like the Marriott, especially at this hotel because it was very nice and expensive.
My wife and stayed 1 night as we went to a hockey game about 50 minutes away in Oswego where the hotel options are limited . The Syracuse Marriott was worth the drive. From the moment we arrived you can tell the staff is going the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent, really good Haddock with risotto and my wife had the grouper with polenta which was also really good. I noticed the prices at the restaurant were not crazy expensive like many hotels now are. Gustavof the bartender made a nice old fashioned with Basil Hayden! Carolyn who checked us in at the front desk was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel itself is very unique as it has kept many of the cool old fashioned details it has from the 1920's. If you a Marriott member your status is really recognized here as well with an upgraded room and great breakfast, I'm platinum. Rooms are super cozy with unique doors and nice bathrooms. You know a hotel is trying to go above and beyond when you get a message from the GM the next day asking about your stay, little things make a difference. The hotel also has an M club with is also a bonus. Thanks as well to Carlos who provided us with the late checkout! we'll be back !!
Very Good
Drainage in the bathroom was very slow...
Le personnel super sympas, l'hôtel est grandiose. Les chambres propres et luxueuse.
Felt welcomed by check-in staff; "Maria" (and another) in housekeeping went an extra mile; restaurant's food cooked-to-order & delivered fast, friendly; very clean room, no noticeable odors or scents; very comfortable beds & linens; pleasant lighting (no harsh glares); "Terry" at breakfast anticipated diners' needs (mine and others). My constructive criticism: shower entry awkward (I found no way to turn on the shower without having to be standing under it--very unpleasant prior to adjusting the temp to feel the ice cold water and also potentially one could scald himself); the shower soap/shampoo are installed too high up on the wall, I'm not that short and had trouble reaching it; the sinks looked perfectly clean, but yet while using I detected the smell of mildew/mold radiating from either the drain or maybe from beneath its lip where it joins the counter (???) toilet flush should be much stronger I half expected it not to flush even though I just "lightly used" it (but it did flush). I didn't notice any security cameras anywhere but decided maybe that's a purposeful decision rather than an indication of lack of security (I'm aware that the rules of psychology indicate that visible security measures cause some people believe a place is inherently unsafe). In summary I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and am already trying to find an excuse to do so.
Nothing
Stuff cleans and they charged me twice for security by mistake
Simpatia dos gerentes
Pequeno almoço muito caro e com poucas opções
停车有点远,还要另外收费,这可是雪城啊,不是纽约
After a long drive and arriving late at night we were greeted with a big welcome and amazing service. The staff was beyond amazing- every single person including the valet to front desk. The hotel is beautiful and the original architecture is kept. Rooms are big and redone but can use a little touch ups. A great option with top service! The breakfast option was disappointing- I would skip it next time.
The staff was great. The hotel has potential to be be great with a 20’s style Bathroom was great and remodeled
Not well kept. Our room furniture was old and peeling off fake paint and leather on the chairs. Hopefully they will remodel the room soon
Very close to restaurants and theatre
Would enjoy an easy breakfast option, but didn't see one
Right downtown. Convenient . Staff were warm.
Nothing
We were driving back from Buffalo to NYC after a Bills game, and wanted to break up the long trip, staying at this downtown hotel. It wasn't obvious initially on where the parking garage associated with the hotel was, as I thought it would be connected, but it was across the street. Had to make two circles around the hotel before I figured that out! (Tip: I'd valet next time.. there was a vagrant in the elevator bank of the parking garage) The hotel has a classical architecture style to it. Some may not like it, but staying in many hotels that look alike, it was a welcome sight. The lobby reminded me of an old bank, but reading up afterwards on the history of the hotel and the building was pretty neat. I used by upgrade at this hotel and was provided with a very large executive suite with 2 bedrooms each with their own bathrooms, a big living room and a dining room. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were updated with a modern look. Breakfast at the restaurant with the buffet was really good with plentiful options. If in Syracuse in the future, would be more than welcome to stay here again.
We stayed here for one night in order to attend a concert at the nearby Oncenter Crouse-Hinds theater, which was an easy 5-7 min walk away. We were given a corner king room that came with a desk and two chairs. It was nicely decorated and the bed was super comfortable with very nice linens. The bathroom was modern and bright (no bathtub, just a shower), but the door was a pocket door, which can mean less privacy for some, The AC/heat worked very well. Due to my platinum status, we had access to to the Executive Lounge; the staff there could not be more welcoming and kind and the space was quite large and airy. Note that wine and beer are available, but not free as is usually the case with some other Marriott properties. The executive lounge does not serve breakfast on Sunday mornings, but we were provided vouchers for the Eleven Waters restaurant which offered a nice buffet option. Valet parking is $27, but one can self-park nearby for $19. Things that could be improved: 1) it wasn't clear whether our room was an upgrade as none was mentioned at check-in; 2) there were relatively large stains on one section of the carpet and headboard; 3) when we asked the front desk to change a bill so we could tip the valet staff, they said they could not help us so we had to ask the valet staff to help us out (they happily agreed). Overall, our stay was fine. The history of the hotel is fascinating and the grand styling of the lobby is quite stunning.
Buffet was excellent and Irish bar was excellent as well.
Better lighting in bathroom!
The hotel is beautiful
Good food And beautiful place! There good food in the morning and lunch and the people very nice and it’s doesn’t look beautiful on the outside but when you walk in it’s beautiful
Off season visit so scored truly special rooms using Marriott nightly upgrades- executive suite WELL worth it! We had full mini conference room with wine fridge and half bath- perfect for hubby who's a prof. Dual head showers were fantastic. Appreciated carpeting bc it gets cold even with adjustable thermostats in every room. Disappointed that no nightly reception on Mondays. Lounge is great for non-upgrade stays as it's generally quiet and relaxing with nice selection of free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks (yeah, hummus and yogurt). Highly recommend chai latte from the machine. Microwave in there should be larger as it's the only one for the entire hotel! Suggestions on room- make sofa bed convertible to bed so can do a proper movie night w/lounge popcorn or have space for caretaker (increases room use flexibility for multigenerational families). Also put a microwave SOMEWHERE in the massive rooms. And lotion in bathrooms bc winter weather requires mandatory after shower lotion! Also, at least for these class of rooms, robes, slippers and toiletry extras. They really should have weekly, rather than once monthly tours, like NYC hotels. Or at least frequent themed tours- haunted Hotel Syracuse anyone? The hotel is just gorgeous and has so much fun history. It's convenient for MOST, axe-throwing and Erie Canal Museum.
Location
No fan in the bathroom, the floor gets soaked from the shower leaking through the door that’s not properly sealed. No place to hang long dresses in closet bc the mini fridge was inside
