I lived the atmosphere and the rooms are good with a ocean view . Staffs were very good value is good and toilet and room was clean but molds were there on the wall..but my kids were upset as there were no more good tv channels . Shops and restaurants are near.there was a ac but it was not working properly . Other than that this was a good hotel.

Appalling service! I visited with my wife and 2 little ones and I asked them to help me with unloading the luggages (10 suitcases) from the taxi. No one helped us and the staff were useless, not wanting to help. Baggage’s were left on the road whilst my wife was looking after the kids and I had to take one by one.

The supervisor unlocked our room door at midnight without warning. This was very disturbing and made us feel uncomfortable. We could not sleep for the rest of the night because of this. The next day, we told the receptionist, but she did not take our complaint seriously, which was very disappointing.

I love the view, and the massage from the spa was excellent. Love the cleanliness of the room. I wanted to try the food, but I was not able to since I had to leave a bit earlier than I was supposed to. Hope to visit again soon.

There is nothing to mention. But the back view was not so good. The hotel can't do anything about it. But it was not bad too. enjoyed all of it.

This is small unique hotel on the marine with a good view of the see and some trains going below the hotel. The staff for friendly and no issues. We had a good and delicious dinner yesterday night. The morning breakfast is also very nice. I am fully satisfied with the hotel

Stayed at The Ocean Colombo during our Sri Lanka trip and honestly the location was one of the best parts. The sea view from the room was beautiful, and the hotel is very convenient for shopping, restaurants and nightlife The staff were friendly and the stay was comfortable overall. Rooms were spacious and the view made the experience relaxing after long days outside. Some areas of the hotel could use a little modernization and maintenance, but for the price and location, it was definitely good value for money. Would recommend for travelers who want a sea view stay in a central Colombo location without spending too much.

Everything was organized so well and they made our celebration truly special. A special thank you to Manager Dammika. He was so nice, friendly, and extremely helpful throughout the entire event. He made sure everything we requested was arranged perfectly. He even stayed with us until our party finished and supported our decoration team as well. His dedication and kindness really meant a lot to us. The food was the highlight of the night. Honestly, I expected it to be good, but it was even better than we imagined. Every guest loved the food and many of them kept talking about how delicious it was. Huge thanks to the chef for the superb food! This place is also great value for money, and the rooftop space is perfect for parties and celebrations. Everything was just perfect. We will definitely come back again even just for the food! Thank you for making my birthday so memorable.

I recently had a party at the La Vista Rooftop Bar at Ocean Colombo Hotel, and it was a great experience. The atmosphere was amazing, with a beautiful rooftop setting that made the event even more special. The food was delicious and well prepared, and everyone at the party really enjoyed it. A special thanks to Manager Dhammika, who was very helpful and supportive in arranging everything for us. His assistance made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend La Vista Rooftop Bar at Ocean Colombo Hotel for parties or special events.

Long way from centre of town

The first experience as soon as we checked in was terrible and pathetic regarding the dinner ordering which nearly took more than a hour to be sent to our room and we had to remind then 2-3 times and on that they said we can also order thru Ubereats. Secondly the food served was not fresh and appeared to be leftover from dinner. Even the breakfast was not fresh as fruits were soiled and towels were also not clean. Except the location and sea front view everything else was bad. Book this hotel at your RISK.

The size of room

Asked for early check in no communication given I was outside on road from 4am untill 2pm The room was very dirty not swept proper bidet was moldy. The show pillows on the bed were covered in stains and just very dirty one pillow having some blood stain. A/c was not working. Just a massive no from me on this hotel. Also the smoking area was closed on the last night due to a function

My husband and I spent 10 days at The Ocean on Bed and Breakfast basis and it was a very pleasurable experience . It is close to all the amenities and all modes of transport be it train bus or tuk tuk. The room was spacious and clean with amazing views of the ocean.The staff extremely helpful and very friendly. Meals were varied and tasty and catered to all tastes. It was value for money and will definitely stay there on our next visit to Sri Lanka. Drs Ranjit and Praxy de Saram

The hotel locatiin , the view from the hotel its amazing. The property have built the rooms for great view and they have succeded well. The staffs are very friendly and adjust as per customer needs which make us feel comfortable and create the trust to stay with them again

The property have to work on their breakfast menu to have more international food options. The staff at breakfast was very less to assist the guests which made waiting time more. The property to compete with other hotels in the location need to improve their facilities and provide the breakfast in a restaurant with more bigger space and better sea view.

Old broken property, bathrooms corridors smell. Walls, wash basin have cracks. The breakfast was a disaster over crowded in a banquet hall with people banging into each other and with tables. Don’t believe the online pics.

Stayed here as a single traveller for three nights, 15th Oct to 18th Oct. My room number was 1004, which was on the 10th floor of the building. Check-in Process: Smooth and did not take much time, as I arrived around 4 in the evening. Location: Right on the beach road, and since all the rooms have a beach view, so one of the major reasons for me to choose this for my stay. Room: The room was decent, spacious; however, the rooms along with the building need some renovation. The washroom was a little smelly, so I had to use the room spray. Further, the window had film on it, which was half torn, so the view was not very clear, and spoiled the idea of a sea view. Dining: I did not include breakfast in my room as there are many nearby options; however, I did try a Sri Lankan omelette here once, and it was very good. A decent stay, with a few improvements, this can definitely be a good option to consider.

My stay was quite disapponting overall. The accommodation felt very basic and lacked comfort, more like something a peasant would have rather than a traveler seeking relaxation. The room was plain, amenities were minimal, and service was ok. The food was just average, nothing memorable or flavorful, and the presentation lacked appeal. While the surroundings were decent and peaceful, the overall experience didn’t justify the cost. There was no sense of warmth or hospitality, which made the stay feel rather dull. With a few improvements in service and food quality, this place could be much better.

2 hours into the hotel and we are already done with this hotel. Pathetic hotel ever service in Colombo. It's understandable that when the hotel is under staffed, there would be delay in services, but we were made to wait for the luggage for more than a hour. No towels were kept, no hand shower, no alternative shower services except the normal shower. We asked for atleast buckets, and the service person was rude enough to state "these are international standards". Later the person came with a small plastic wok thing stating we have this or nothing else. Although he was given earful, the hotel doesn't seem to care how the guests are. The international standards they refer to probably states that guests should adjust no matter what the service. I would rate in minus if there was possibility.

I really satisfied with 3-nights staying in The Ocean Colombo. The staffs are all friendly with high customer service. The sea view room is amazing. Very quiet at night. The bed is hard enough for good sleep. I’ll definitely come back here for my next visit to Colombo. 150% recommend!

Friendly and welcoming staff. Spoke good English. The room was big with an excellent view of the ocean. Although near a busy road, there was no noise. Didn't use the restaurant. Not too far from the city centre. About SLR400 (about A$2) for a Took Took ride. Amazing ride.

From the moment we entered the hotel we felt welcomed by Sajith Khan, who was on reception. The location was fantastic- right opposite the ocean; close to a variety of amenities including Havelock City Mall and other popular attractions. We had a fantastic stay and found all the staff to be very friendly, courteous and polite- a special mention goes out to Ajith (doorman) and Dulcie (restaurant). On one of the nights we actually returned a little past midnight and our card didn't work- thankfully one of the members of staff swiftly came and helped us, which we were grateful for. We booked a family room with sea view and were able to enjoy watching the sunset one evening, which was beautiful. Breakfast was a mix of Sri Lankan (kiribath, roti, idli etc) and Western (chicken sausages, chicken 'bacon', eggs- either scrambled, sunny side up or omelette). One of the stations included a variety of baked goods including banana bread and fresh rolls- it would have been nice to have labels on that station as one of our party was vegetarian and we were unsure what some items were (some had meat/fish in them). Some of the flavours were Sri Lankan but we were unable to pinpoint exactly what flavour, so it would have helped in that sense as well. Fresh fruit was constantly topped up with papaya, watermelon, guava and Sri Lankan bananas being the variety thay was available whilst we were there. Ocean Colombo's hospitality was so wonderful that we look forward to returning next time we travel to Sri Lanka!

The only positive is the location and a sea front view.. Floors and elevators were stinking with cigarettes. Restaurant manager Priyanka is a disgrace to the hotel industry. He was behaving very rude with the guests giving embarrassing experiences to guests, I stayed in 5 different hotels and all other hotels were amazing and iru very kind and supportive staffs. Priyanka was least bothered about the review and was fighting with few other guests as well. I don’t recommend this hotel if you are going on a family trip.

Staying at The Ocean Hotel was a truly memorable experience, largely due to its captivating views of the Indian Ocean and the parallel railway line. Our family room was remarkably spacious, equipped with two beds, a comfortable sofa, two tables, a refrigerator, and a locker - all adding to our comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent breakfast, which offered a wide array of choices, and found the staff to be incredibly welcoming. This hotel truly completed our memorable stay in Colombo.

Everything about the hotel. It was dingy and damp, walls and ceilings were worn down, filthy, bathroom was dark, smelling like sewerage and had sticky floors, torn curtains. It was raining and our room and even the reception area had a water leakage through the window/wall. The corridors were dirty and worn off like it hasn't been cleaned or painted in years. When we were checking out at 3AM, it was raining heavily but none of the staff came to help with suitcases; we had to ask for an umbrella and help. The security guard asked my husband to drop me off to the car with the umbrella and come and return it at the door, whereas the security should’ve held the umbrella and dropped us off. My husband had to run in the rain after returning the umbrella and came back to the car all drenched. Thank God we stayed only one night, it was not even a one star hotel experience while they’re claiming and charging like a 4 star. Please AVOID this hotel if you don’t wanna ruin your trip.

We had a wonderful stay at The Ocean Colombo Hotel! The room was clean, tidy, and well-maintained, making us feel comfortable right away. We truly appreciated the early check-in, which was a great convenience after our travels. The view from the room was simply breathtaking a perfect touch to our stay. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Overall, everything was excellent, and we would definitely love to stay here again…

Stayed only one night at the Ocean Colombo on a business trip with my family, We were warmly welcomed by Mr Khan at the front desk in a very professional way and he gave us a very good impression about the entire hotel. we stayed at the room # 703, amazing sea view ....it was very comfortable & clean. all the staff members at the front desk ,restaurant, even the security officer are very kind, caring and helpful, we will highly recommend your great hospitality.....hope to back soon.
