Beautiful old building, excellent parking.

Inside didn’t reflect the outside was far too modern. It was just like a normal pub and not what we were expecting from the photo.

Bit of a hike up the hill from central Norwich

Ideal place to stay, close to city centre but in a quiet location just up the hill. Room facilities were abundant, shower great, beds comfy and staff friendly. Excellent breakfast included in the price. Definitely worth a return visit!

Nice quiet location so had a good nights sleep, everything you need is in the room, tea, coffee, biscuits, bottled water, fridge, kettle etc 2 armchairs, tv, towels and soaps etc....Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, the Full English is superb and lots of it, kept me going till lat afternoon. Even though you are in lively pub, we didn't hear any noise in the room so slept really well.

WiFi didn't work in the room...just got the spinning circle on my phone and wouldn't connect...but not a problem as i am not a perpetual surfer..

Overall clean room but as myself have been auditing hotels just a little things could improve.. dusty skirting boards, bathroom fan. Hairs in bath. Bedside chest of drawers needs a bit maintenance. TV remote new batteries. Fridge could be wiped clean better and tray was full with water from freezer part. Coffee machine needs a deep clean. These are little things I noticed but as I said overall we were happy with room. Will be happy to stay over again

Great big bathroom but tiny shower

Friendly welcome on arrival, plenty of parking space. The room was great with a good shower. Brilliant breakfast, I went for the full English and some fruit and that more than set me up for the day. After checking out. I was able to store my bag there whilst I went for a ride out around Norfolk and collect it later.

Consistent and reliably good, I found this place the ideal base location for my walking tours of Norwich city centre. I've stayed here twice over the summer of 2026 and enjoyed the home-from-home comforts and excellent breakfasts. It's an easy walk downhill from the William IV to the bridges over the Wensum, and on in to the city. Equally, it's a short walk down to the railway station and only £15.45 anytime day return to Cromer. The walk back up the hill to the hotel gets the heart pumping but that's a good thing, right? Thank you to the ladies of William IV for all your hard work and your excellent breakfasts. Hope to see you again before so long. David

Very clean and comfortable accommodation in a charming local pub. Owners and staff are very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast- tasty and keeps you going all day. Safe and secure parking.Very good value enjoyable stay.

Both nights that I stayed the bar was closed for loud, private parties that didn’t end until midnight. Not only could I not use the bar but was kept awake. No prior notice was given. The shower cubicle was tiny and uncomfortable.

We arrived for a three night stay, but left less than 24 hours later. The room was very disappointing. The furniture was of very poor quality. There was no chest of drawers, merely a bedside table with three small drawers - one leg of which fell off. The "wardrobe" was simply a carcass with 4 coat hangers and was situated right beside the toilet in the bathroom. The room felt more like one you would find in a hostel rather than a hotel room. Despite complaining via booking.com, we have received no response. There were no redeeming features to our short stay.

A very good-sized room with a comfortable double bed and large bathroom. The breakfast menu was great and the helpings enormous. Very friendly staff and fantastic value for money. There was even a fridge in the room and, what always helps with giving an excellent review - a box of tissues!

For the price, I doubt it could have been improved on.

Friendly staff, a clean room with tea and coffee. A good choice of breakfast options with some gluten-free options (bread and cereal). The hotel is a pleasant 5 walk away from the lovely Red Lion pub which sits by the river. (Great hill to help with digestion on the way back!)

The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable and there was a good quality coffee machine in the room. The decoration was tasteful abd in good condition. It was very quiet at night.

The room was a good size but a bit dark, with the windows blocked by a roof. The pub itself wasn't as smart as the bedroom and might have been noisy earlier on, but we were out all evening so that didn't matter to us.

Excellent breakfast and lovely staff. Nice pub garden. 15 minute walk to Norwich Cathedral. No evening meal but good local take aways and the bar is happy for you to borrow plates and cutlery. Bedroom was air conditioned.

The single bed was not comfortable and the sheets poor quality. Sleep was poor.

I have stayed here several times over the years and always feel welcomed and remembered. Clean, comfortable and even have a fridge in the room. bar prices are reasonable and if you leave before breakfast they tend to offer you a packed lunch instead.

The only negative I could say this time, was they no longer provide evening meals, however there are several places to find food and offer you plates etc and can still sit at a table to eat.

Lovely staff and community focused pub just up the hill from the station area/river.Two bar areas plus a large sunny beer garden. Nice room with air con ( room 1) and gererous breakfast offering. Car park a bonus as surrounding streets are permit only. Highly recommend.

Ruime parkeerplaats midden in Norwich. Ruime kamer en badkamer. Koelkast op de kamer evenal koffie en thee en flesje water. zeer ruime keus uit ontbijten.

Receptie bleek in de bar te zijn. Enigszins onduidelijk. Ontbijtruimte nogal sober. Afstand tot het centrum is goed te lopen, maar je moet goed ter been zijn. Het is ook veel klimmen.
