Merrils Beach Resort II

The staff was courteous, very friendly and warm in their reception. The food was great, clean beach, no external or internal disturbances. It's not a huge facility so I don't have to walk too far to get to anywhere. The place to s like a nice, safe, friendly little community.

Resort was marketed as all inclusive but it was not all inclusive. There were no mon motorised water sports. It was really just a villa, not a hotel. There was no nightly entertainment. Swimming pool was suddenly deep so felt unsafe.

The staff were extremely hospitable. Each day my family and I felt more and more at home. The rooms were large and suitably furnished with mini fridge, two beds, television, dresser and stool, iron and ironing board, adequate lighting, air conditioning, hair dryer etc. The beach was close to the rooms and so the walk was short to get there. The dining experience was superb with friendly professional staff. There was great variety in the meals. Big up to Charlie. He really went over and beyond to cater to our dining needs.

The rooms could do with some updating

Great value for the money spent. Didnt think id be able to find affordable all inclusive stays in Negril. This place checked that box. The staff was amazing too.

The location along negril white sandy beaches was perfect.

1. Parking is extremely limited. 2. The room wasn't clean. From entering the door all the way to the bathroom was dirty. Scales and dirt all over the shower. My wife showered in her slippers. I just didn't shower (no, I'm not nasty, just couldn't convince myself to do it). 3.Towels not clean. 4. No was cloths provided. 5. Says all inclusive but it's a scam. You get breakfast, lunch and dinner. All limited variety and extremely small portions. 6. Pool was dirty and desperately in need of a paint job. 7. Beach was dirty. From seaweed being plentiful in the water to the debris on the shore. Needs attention. In summary. I paid for 2 rooms for 2 nights. Left after 1 night, could endure the 2nd. Just showing how dissatisfied we were. Wasn't even given a refund for the 2nd night. From the looks of things the owner doesn't really cares about his customers. He seems to be more for the money. Here's a tip for him; happy customer = return customer + good review + referral which means more money for you. Bad product = one time sale, no return and bad reviews resulting in a failing business. STOP SCAMMING PEOPLE WHO WORK HARD FOR THEIR MONEY AND WANTS TO ENJOY IT!

Me gustó que limpian la playa, tiene buenas asoleadoras, tiene seguridad, el mar lo tienen demarcado para evitar algún golpe con lanchas. Me gusta el sistema todo incluido. La zona de habitaciones es bonita, son como mini casas, hay agua y café disponible todo el día. Hay un supermercado al ladito el wifi funciona muy bien y los granizados son espectaculares!

Que los taxis desde el hotel a ricks café que está a 4 km salen a 20 USD por persona y por trayecto.

Sporca, bagno sporco all’arrivo wc sporco di pipì, scarafaggi che scendevano dal tetto, mancanza di acqua dalla prima sera, cm se fosse un optional e non una brutta figura per la struttura ospitante. Acquistata una camera vista mare, all arrivo hanno detto che a loro non risultava. Bevande spazzatura piene di zucchero e alcolici scadenti, dolci e snack miseri e industriali.

Es un complejo pequeño con habitaciones cómodas y amplias. Muy limpio. En general, la mayoría del personal, muy amable. Playa excelente .., con reposeras de sobra .

Está catalogado cómo “all inclusive”, la verdad que corresponde más a “pensión completa”.., ya que cuenta solo con 3 comidas, sujetas a determinado horario y con muy pocas variantes.., pero muy buena igualmente.. Específicamente, y esto es lo peor que nos pasó, no salí de mi asombro por el destrato recibido específicamente por una empleada q solo atendía en el bar, no sabemos su nombre, es una muchacha de contextura física bastante grande, realmente muy grosera.., no solo que no respondía nunca a los saludos, sino que actuaba cómo si le molestara que le pidiéramos algo ..( no tomábamos más de 2 gaseosas, ni siquiera tragos, x día ..), realmente esta persona fue lo peor de la estadía.. El resto del personal, muy amable ..

The breakfast, lunch and dinner were always fantastic. A lot of variety for people who like different things. The variety at breakfast was great. Eggs any way you would like them, fresh cracked. Omelette had so many options to add to it. Callaloo was very good (first time trying it) great to add to your eggs. There was french toast, pancakes, & toast as well as baked beans and sausage. For dinner's, the meat was A++ fall off the bone beef ribs, jerk chicken, jerk pork, beef stew to name a few as well as fish. There was always a fresh salad or coleslaw, fresh steamed vegetables, the mashed potatoes were top notch. Some days there were cheeseburgers and fries, and the desserts were great, some days we had ice cream and there was different cheesecakes and red velvet cake to name a few. The bar had many different variety of drinks. Always great service between the servers, the chefs and wait staff. The beach was right at your tip toes. Easy access, beautiful clean sand, and the water was warm and refreshing salt water. The security was always around, making sure the beach hustlers kept it moving if you weren't interested. Everyone at Merrill's always greeted you, they would always have a smile on their face and be happy to see you. I felt like I was treated like family, maybe even better then. I wanted to give a shout out to Johnoi, Arvon, Marlin, Barbara, Charlie, Bunny, Diego (fist bump), Glen, Krystal, Myree (thank you for always getting us our chairs on the beach) Yvon, Shamoy, Germane. (spelling of names, sorry =/) We had an over all fantastic trip and I look forward to coming back in the near future.

Nothing towards the resort itself. Just have to be mindful of the hustlers on the beach, sometimes they over extend their stay if security does not see them. Otherwise around great resort. I miss the people and the atmosphere.

Wir waren schon öfters hier, super Lage und es gefällt uns immer wieder sehr gut. Man darf keinen Luxus erwarten, aber sauber und für unseren Geschmack völlig ok. Das Buffet ist überschaubar, aber man findet immer etwas.

Wer es sehr ruhig mag, sollte am anderen Abschnittes des Beaches buchen, da die Musik aus umliegenden Bars oder Hotels doch oft gut zu hören ist.

The stay was simply perfect! The hotel’s atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and the food at every meal is delicious, offering both continental options and traditional Jamaican cuisine. There is a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on the menu for you to enjoy. The facilities are excellent, with reliable Wi-Fi, and a beachfront setting with everything you need to spend the entire day by the sea. I would especially like to highlight the kindness and warm smiles of all the hotel staff, who truly make the stay a unique experience!

Food was the same daily or similar and not great! The wifi was terrible, we had no hot water and despite making the staff aware no one did anything about it. Most the staff were friendly but some were rude! It was so loud every night hardly slept! no beach towels were available until our last day...

Etwas in die Jahre gekommen.Wie die meisten Hotels hier

Bevorzugte Lage unmittelbar am besten Sandstrand der Insel. Man fühlte sich sicher. Viele deutschsprachige Gäste. Die Gartenanlage ist gepflegt.

Gebuchter Meerblick war nicht verfügbar. Tresor war unbrauchbar und wäre zusätzlichen berechnet worden. Das Personal war teilweise sehr nett, teilweise jedoch auch gelangweilt. Speisen schmackhaft jedoch mit wenig Auswahl und mit zerhackten Knochen. In der Umgebung wurde oftmals bis 4 Uhr früh laute Musik gespielt.

Fantastische Lage direkt am Strand. Kleine nette Anlage, wunderschöner Garten mit Palmen.

Die Zimmerausstattung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Oft nur wenig Wasserdruck zum Duschen, teilweise nur kaltes Wasser bei Stoßzeiten. Essen einfach, wenig Auswahl. Bei kurzem Aufenthalt fällt das nicht so ins Gewicht. Sehr laut rundherum durch die angrenzenden Bars. Das muss man mögen!

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The rooms had the added private veranda, which allowed a bit of quiet time away from the main areas and travelling companions.

I didn't feel it should be All-Inclusive, when you had to buy wine, and food was only available at specific times, with a 5-hour gap between lunch and dinner. This hotel should be FB not AI.

I wasn't given the room I had booked as it was no longer available!! The grounds were ok but the smell awful States all inclusive but its not,its full board. Only get breakfast lunch and dinner and there is no self selection buffet they serve you and there is minimal choice. No deserts only fruit if you request it. The beach was nice and clean tho

La playa!! Podes quedarte en las reposeras o caminar por toda la gran playa 7 Millas, pasamos año nuevo ahí y fue hermoso, prepararon una comida especial y arreglaron todo muy bonito. La comida el resto de los días es básicamente jamaiquina lo que significa que muchas cosas estaban muy picantes, pero nos acomodamos. Tendría que tener un poco de animación, igual la idea era disfrutar de la hermosa playa y los atardeceres divinos!!

Nos tocaron días hermosos, pero si está feo ahí solo podes estar en la habitación no hay otra cosa, la comida es picante y no había por ejemplo carnes que no tuvieron. El agua para bañarte es tibia a fría.

Superb friendly staff, good food with gluten free options available. Each room has that fading colonial comfortable charm. Set in beautiful well kept gardens. Would definitely return again and again!

My friend and I spent a girls week at the resort this past week and we had the Best time. The staff were all very friendly and super helpful, we wanted for nothing, for the entire week. The food was Awesome, however, the bar drinks could definitely use some help, however, overall, I give them 5 stars. The room was cleaned daily, please consider tipping your room staff, they work hard and do a great job. The grounds are cleaned daily and the beach was raked, starting at 6:00 i every morning. The security is on the resort 24 hours a day, and as 2 females traveling together, we never felt unsafe. Please do not expect 5 star gourmet meals at a 3 star resort, you will be disappointed. There is a club just a few spots down that does get loud at night, you may want to bring ear plugs, however, we were on the bottom floor in the Executive Suite and with the doors shut, the air conditioner drowned out the noise, so we did not hear it unless we went into the living room area. I believe this was my 9th trip to Negril and if you have cancelled due to the hurricane, please know that the resorts are up and running, the roads from the airport are open, restaurants are open, and there is no reason to put it off.

I have stayed at Merrils on a number of occasions, and Barbara will always go above and beyond to help me with my needs and any problems that may arise.

The food was very good even though there weren't much to choose from. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. The rooms need some improvement though and I wished there were bottled water there for us each day. There was absolutely no entertainment which was very disappointing. Overall it was a nice experience

This hotel I wouldn't recommend at all I went with my daughter and best friend for 2 weeks our original hotel was the azul but we changed it so we could support the smaller local businesses and we wanted a more quite atmosphere i also took a full suitcase of stuff to donate the 1st couple of days being there was great but then things wasn't feeling right about this place as we came back to our room from the Italian bar one evening to find a full bar of the hotel soap all round our door handle to our apartment when we approached the security they where not sympathetic about it at all they played it out like they didn't want to see it so the next day I reported it to the receptionist they promised us there was nothing to worry about and that they would up there security on our room by this point I wasn't convinced the place was safe the staff was becoming very rude and snapping when you asked questions as they ran out of beers and for days still didn't have any even when we left the food as never been jamican food at all not very nice and you have alot of the same thing through the week the rooms are very very damp so damp i had to dry my phone out as it wouldn't charge due to the changing bit being damp everyday we gave tips to the staff but we felt pressured by certain staff member into going with them for the excursions but he was trying to charge way way over to how much you can really get them for so I found my own tour guide which was alot better our last 2 days of the holiday was made into a nightmare with this hotel the security is non existence we had gone back to our room to find the door wide open and our things had been ransacked but there was no sign of force entry a key had definitely been used it was sickening we approached the security which had no interest at all just kept laughing yes laughing saying so what's missing we asked for the police to be called they refused until we say what's missing only 200 jmd they had took but it was the principal I called the police myself when the police arrived straight away he said to the security that they had done it and let themselves in with a key disgusting behaviour we contacted love holidays to raise our concerns as clearly we did not feel safe at this hotel at all and 3 woman miles away from home love holidays was not helpful at all it was gone midnight by time we had spoke to the police and packed our cases to leave luckily they have uber cabs we managed to check in to the only 1 guest house available at such time which was 2 min away from Rick's cafe we stayed for 1 night then changed hotel to one closer to the merrils as we had a early morning transfer back to the airport. I contacted love holidays again to request a refund from the hotel this was the hotels response they said they was no sign of a forced break in I was a problem from the start how dare they I was shocked how they really thought they can justify there actions and unexceptable behaviour my friend had dyed her hair and some of the dye had gone on one there towels my friend offered to pay for it but she didn't get chance to because we had left for our own safety but they told love holidays that I had tried bringing non guest on to the premises which was definitely a lie I had my own tour guide who everyday came and waited across the road from the building and never once tried to enter the grounds they had made out like we where party animals and we clearly are not they said we had damage property mentioning the towel and that our hotel room shown no signs of a break in so they will not be refunding me they can keep the money all i know is that people specialy woman travelling alone to these places be very courteous and aware of the dangers in this hotel alone. Other than the merrils hotel negril is a beautiful place with beautiful people this is just the unfortunately worst place I've ever stayed at in my life as for the case full of donations we went and gave them to the local people who really appreciate them as much as we appreciated them.

All meals were delicious; however, there were not many choices. The staff were pleased while serving and answered any questions asked. I liked the quietness, and the grounds are clean. The building is welcoming.

There was no night entertainment, and the music was limited. The guest had to entertain themself by playing games. The food choices were very limited, and sometimes only one server was attending to guests, so there was a long line at the buffet.

Absolutamente todo el hotel me pareció muy bueno. La relación precio calidad es destacable. La amabilidad de la gente, la comida riquísima. Me cuesta mucho ser objetiva porque realmente la pasé genial. Recomiendo mucho venir acá. Solo háganse la idea de que sirven las 3 comidas, y no es como los hoteles de cadena que sirven comida masivamente. Este es un hotel pequeño

I am a returning guest and I had another great stay at Merrils. The positives are the staff, who really do look after you, and the food, which is excellent. Also, the location is one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. What a beach. Special mention to Mikey who does a great boat trip, and Charlie who looked after us perfectly. What I had an issue with this time round was the beach boys seemed to be far more aggressive. We got called a very rude Jamaican word simply for refusing to buy drugs. Admittedly this is not the fault of the hotel, but the security guard watched the whole encounter and didnt say a word. My second issue was the robbery that happened. The room next door to us was broken into one evening, and the poor people that had been robbed were trying to get their lives in order at about 2AM. They called the police and by the sounds of their complaints they didnt receive much assistance. What was really disappointing was no one from the hotel thought to check if our room had been broken into (it turned out it had, and our door had clearly been tried). Security is a massive problem in Negril, unless you are staying on the cliffs then you are vulnerable. Im not saying dont stay at this hotel, but please do ensure every safety measure that they can possibly offer is enacted because the police wont be a help. Merrils staff and the real estate is brilliant, but I really do wish they get a grip with security, many guests felt vulnerable after the break in and no one thought it was necessary to offer some reassurance.

Beautiful property, very tropical, well maintained, mostly friendly staff especially Charlie and Jovan in the dining room...gorgeous beach area. Food was mediocre , drinks not great ...We stayed in the executive suite oceanfront which was fabulous. Would definitely stay here again!

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely beach. Delicious food. Quiet and tranquil days. Value for money. Its a small locally run (boutique) resort that has managed to remain in business despite much larger hotels moving in and taking over the customer base due to more advantageous economies of scale.

Next door to a party venue that plays music until 3 am on Friday/Saturday. Mosquitoes. They sprayed but the pesky insects still found their way in through gaps above doors and windows. Room was a bit dated but it was clean.

We stayed here for a week in August. Family of five. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, they are amazing! Professional, welcoming, kind and funny. The food is nice, mostly Caribbean with some international dishes as well. Would have been nice to have some snack options inbetween meals, sandwiches etc as a few times we missed the allocated times. The beach is stunning! White sand and clear blue seas.

Loved my room, Staff was okay as long as you were tipping. Seemed the staff were always first before myself. No problem but there was a lot of them. This is my 8th timing staying and highly disappointed. Food was blah... I get the price of everything has gone up! Just breathed and didn't enjoy it. I will be looking for a new place to stay :(

Aggressive panhandlers that would make you feel unsafe and uncomfortable, as they would stand on the beach staring at you, trying to sell you marijuana and anything else they could think of. Resort security was present and did a great job but the laws allow these panhandlers to be on the beach within a certain area.

Great property for solo travelers, or a couple. The staff is amazing, the food is great, it’s ideal for a long weekend or 2 weeks. The property doenst have entertainment if that’s what you’re looking, it’s a quiet beachfront property with amazing people.

The location, beachfront was perfect. The breakfast and lunch wasn't bad. Some of the workers were ok.

The rooms weren't smelling good, they had to move us twice one of the room next to mine was filled with rat bats mess it was so disgusting I finally got a room the 3rd night which was much better. I tried to give some of the staff a little tip most of them were appreciative but the one name Charley was not, just letting him, know he didn't do much more than the others and I didn't have to give anything because they were doing their job.

It's a great place to go to relax. It's quiet' and the staff is great and very friendly. The food was very good. It's a must visit

The breakfast was great. That cook knew his job well. We could all totally relax the entire time. Great that a supermarket was just next door. Other stores and restaurants were very nearby, so we cold do a little shopping.

Took a long time to get there from where we live (4 hours)

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! A month after my check out, i still haven't received the $200 refund, for the security deposit of two rooms. Impossible to contact the resort, since the website address is wrong, and for whats app they gave me a short and elusive answer. THIEVES!!

Fab place! Recommend it for sure! Food is good, rooms cannot be faulted, bar staff always friendly and up for a chat. Weather and views are something else! Entertainment team amazing! MJ is a star, nothing is too much and always positive! Come back soon.
