It was good value and a decent stop overall! No complaints with the staff or the facilities.

Everything in the hotel is dated and grungy. Didn't really bother me because the sheets and beds were clean, but it's definitely dated.

The breakfast was good for one person. The other was gluten free, there was no option for that person to eat there. Fortunately I had brought my own food. Suggestion, have some gluten free options, and alternative milk products. Earths Own Oat milk (Earths Own is Canadian product)

Just mentioned it above, gluten free & milk alternatives would be good

We had a very pleasant stay at Westgate Inn. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Check-in was quick and easy, and the location was convenient for our trip. The hotel offered great value for the price, and we appreciated the quiet atmosphere, which made it easy to relax. Everything we needed was available, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again and recommend Westgate Inn to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay.

I was quite uncomfortable with the crowds sitting around on the porches when I showed up. I didn’t feel safe and I didn’t feel my motorcycle would be safe there overnight. I left immediately without checking in and stayed elsewhere. Please understand I’m a US Army veteran, I work on an Ambulance part-time, and I’m not easily intimidated, but I didn’t feel this place was safe for me or my motorcycle.

The staff were unbelievably awesome. Best service I’ve ever had at a hotel. Room was clean and comfortable.

Breakfast wasn’t available until 7:00am….just a little late for me. Not sure if the train can be heard everywhere in town…..but could be heard; no hairblower was a surprise….i thought this was pretty much a standard now.

Bed was comfortable. The owners have tried to spruce rooms up with paint, new carpet, and some bathroom renos.

This is an old cinderblock motel, with some renos. Unfortunately, the walls and ceiling are not soundproof. The couple next door were up until after 3 a.m. talking, arguing, playing music. Then smoking weed outside near our door in the early morning. The upstairs people were walking around for part of the night. Needless to say we did not get sleep. Got up early and left. Portage is a run-down town. No decent restaurants to eat in either. Should have gone straight to Winnipeg the night before. Sad to say this is my first negative review.

The owner Jocelyn was absolutely lovely - super friendly and helpful and so accommodating to us and our two pets. Highly recommended as she creates a welcoming and very homey atmosphere!

One of the worst hotels I have been. The room very dirty drink splatter on the walls. Stove kitchen area extremely dirty as it looked like it's been touched in weeks.. The worker there at the front desk was ed her pajamas or pjs and a male worker entered the room without knocking or asking, i would jot recommended this molet to anyone

One towel and three face cloths for a double bed room. The chair was broken No heat on when we checked in There was no one at the front desk For 2 am till 430 am loud noise and lots of people partying. No one answered the phone at the front desk. The only plug in the room that worked was the TV plug Didn’t shovel the stairway from room accident waiting to happen

We never had the breakfast but heard it was basic.

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Breaskfast was a self serve continental--bagels or toast, instant oatmeal or cereal, yogurt, coffee, fruit. Not bad for a small establishment. Friendly helpful staff.

Friendly, welcoming, clean, quiet. We had a king-size bed that was very comfortable. What we appreciated most was thoughtfulness for our canine travel companion. The owners / operators are very friendly. The continental breakfast was good: coffee, juices, fruit, bagels, cereals. enough for a good start to the day.

Family run motel with nice continental breakfast options. Needs some more upkeep/maintenance to be great for families but fine to stay in for a night.

The beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean. But the best part was the lovely couple that own the motel. They are both very friendly and want you to feel like family. We were so glad to meet them and happy we could support their business!

The staff was good, but the property was rundown. The linens on both beds were stained, there were items under the bed left from previous occupants which made us question the cleaning procedures.

Don't expect a quiet night, you can hear everything around your room! And the shower kept dripping.... No curtains, only blinds, the street lights make the room not dark at all!

A pleasure to stay here. Our room was clean, quiet, fresh looking. The host/owner was very pleasant. Walk to restaurants, take outs. Nice touch to have continental breakfast in the lobby with toast, muffins, cream cheese, yogurt, coffee/tea and fresh fruit. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

Great service! We arrived after several days on the road and badly needed laundry done. I asked where to get it done, and they told me that for $10 they could have it done in an hr -- and they did! Saved me so much grief and allowed me to enjoy time with the kids.

Best deal this side of the Rockies! overnight stay after a long drive - and it was perfect. Super friendly owners, provided a huge bag of ice at no cost. Beautifully updated, spotless, comfy beds. We had a room on the 2nd floor, facing the road...I was hesitant at first (being noise sensitive) but traffic pretty much dies down at night. Other guests were quiet as well - either working or travelers, no party animals. Would stay again

Staff were very nice, bed was comfy (pull out bed pretty flat though) and relatively short driving distance from various food places.

VERY economical place. Staff was awesome!! Got a pet room but it really smelled of stale smoke..

The room is clean. There was a microwave to heat up our food as we were late. The staff arranged a late check in for us and they are very helpful.

Shower curtain, it is short and spread water everywhere.

Bed was very comfortable, room clean and functional. Shower worked great. Being able to park right at the door is so helpful. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Had a great nights sleep.
