The property was clean and had a pleasant appearance in a generic sort of way. It was nice to have breakfast included but it lacked personality.

Gorgeous hotel with lots of amenities. Strawberry, lemon water in the lobby, fresh baked cookies absolutely everything you can think of. There’s a heated, saltwater pool on the property. It’s surprisingly fabulous! Geno, the shuttle driver, went above and beyond! Angelique, who checked us in was an absolute delight as well! What a great spot!

I expected that room will be cleaned after first night, or at least garbage removed and set of fresh towels provided. None of that.

Great location just off the beltline with easy access to Madison downtown. The hotel is on a bikepath which makes taking a walk or bike ride easy. We were surprised to find that the manager hosts a wine/beer/munchie reception 5-7pm on Monday to Wednesday. The rooms were comfy and the TVs were easy to use (not streaming). We were there on a weather Alert day so being able to watch local weather forecasters was important. Also, the hotel texted us information when the weather sirens went off all over the region during the day. This is very comforting for out of town travelers. Thanks.

The staff is extremely warm & helpful be it the reception or the room service or the shuttle drivers. Room size is nice. Very clean. The shuttle service is a great idea. Beds & pillows are comfortable. Nice walks all around.

1. Breakfast like all American hotels is just bread & bread products with scrambled eggs & cereals. Which gets monotonous. There can be maybe some changes in egg choices or sandwiches etc 2. In the bathrooms there are no cups or glasses to put your brushes of paste 3. Ice depensers on floors don’t have water dispensers so you have to go down but that is cool since it is not too many floors

I regularly stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Madison Central, on business. Alex always greets me with a smile and meets all of my needs. The other employees are also great, rooms clean and breakfast provides variety and a tasty start to the day.

The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond across the board, my flight was delayed during an incredibly busy conference, the manager Ashley came and picked me up from the airport herself! The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant going out of their way to make dinner recommendations or helping to arrange rides and late checkout. The shuttle drivers Joe and his counterpart in the evening were friendly, accommodating, inspired confidence in their service and were always happy to pick us up from dinner despite constantly running around Madison. Last but not least this hotel is clean. While waiting to leave the lobby was being cleaned and they moved every last luggage cart to clean underneath. They clearly take pride in this facility and providing great service!

My wife and I had a lovely one-night stay and were delighted that the hotel was nicer than expected. We liked the clean and spacious room, the friendly staff, the ample parking and the nearby Starbucks.

The front desk staff are super friendly. We requested a specific room that we had before and they accomodated us. The hotel is located in a great location.

Most of the time there was sausage gravy, but no biscuits. When there were some biscuits they were placed with the other bread products and not near the sausage gravy.

The manager Alex was especially great and all the staff were really good. Very friendly and going the extra mile to make sure we were happy with the accommodations. Great service! Rooms were clean and well maintained.

Pool too cold and no hot tub

Sam and Alex were fantastic hosts! They helped us find a fragrance free room since we have allergies to scents. Sam cordially allowed us to preview rooms. We had previously booked a room from another hotel that promised a fragrance free room-but they didn’t deliver. We walked right in to HIE and were able to find a lovely room, hosted by lovely staff. Thank you for not overpowering your hotel with fake, cheap fragrance! We’ll be back!

Nice facility. Good breakfast. I appreciated the bowl of apples in the lobby. Very friendly staff. The grab and go bags in the breakfast area are a great idea.

Bathroom lighting is too dim for using the mirror, especially for near sighted people. A lighted makeup mirror would be an excellent update.

My stay was great. The staff was amazing especially Angeleigh. She was there everyday and was always cheerful and helpful.

There were cobwebs all along the ceiling. It was fine but it’s an easy thing to clean so not sure how so much was missed

Amy, the manager, and front desk staff members Angelleigh and Alex were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. My husband loved the salt water pool! The happy hour and the breakfast were both delicious. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Madison area!

Breakfast buffet was very good! We were delighted we could get a shuttle to get to a restaurant and back! This hotel was recommended by a friend who has chaperoned high school wrestling teams to tournaments and stayed with you.

I thought the shower floor, for a senior citizen, was quite slippery. But I do understand that a gripper shower mat would be a difficult item for a hotel to provide and clean.

Nicely appointed modern hotel/motel. Very easy access from I 90. ATM and several work stations available in lobby. 24 hour coffee/tea availabile. Vending area in lobby. Ample parking. Pool, meeting room. 2 bed-rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and have both soft and firm pillows. Lots of places to charge your electronic devices. Very clean. Microwave and fridge. Nice bathroom with no-fog mirror. Fluffy towels, and Dove lotion, hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast served weekdays 6:00 - 9:30. Buffet includes a variety of juices, freshly brewed coffee (regular or decaf), tea. Also cold cereals. Oatmeal and selection of toppings, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, pork and turkey sausage, fresh make-your-own pancakes, pastries, bagels, make your own toast, apples. Everything was fresh, and staff member checked offerings often. Surfaces were cleaned frequently.

I really appreciated the variety of breakfast options, and I liked that they change the selection daily. I also super appreciate the complimentary tea and coffee! The small convenience shop in the lobby is also very handy for grabbing a snack. It would be even better if there were a microwave available in the lobby for guests to use. I spent about two hours there after checking out waiting for a friend, and it would have been nice to heat up some food. I also enjoyed the lobby area itself. The business center with printers and computers is a thoughtful touch (even though I didn’t need them, it was reassuring to have them available). I spent some time studying in the lobby, and having power outlets available for charging my laptop made it very convenient. As for the hotel room, I liked that it was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped (hair dryer, iron, microwave, fridge, many storage spaces, etc). The water pressure was excellent, and the amenities were of high quality. I also really appreciate that the shampoo and conditioner are separate, and that there’s body lotion conveniently placed near the sink (little things that made my stay more enjoyable).

One of the nicer Holiday Inn Express properties that I’ve stayed at. Up-to-date facilities and courteous staff. The first night we were there they offered an evening reception with beer/wine and hors d’oeuvres, which is fairly unusual for a HIE. The room was generally clean, although there were some marks on the walls of the bathroom (near the light switch and garbage can) that looked like they could come off with a little scrubbing. There is a relatively busy road on the front side of the hotel and a train track on the back side. We stayed on the backside but heard only 1 slow moving train each night. It really didn’t disrupt our stay. Breakfast was standard HIE fare, with hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, along with breads, cereals, etc.. There is a self-service coffee maker in the lobby where you can make coffee 24/7. They offer to-go bags with a granola bar, apple and water if you have to leave before breakfast is served (6 am on weekdays). They offer a free shuttle within a 3-mile radius of the hotel, but we didn’t use it. The hotel is in a great location, not too far from downtown but far enough that they don’t charge for parking!

Everyone was so kind and helpful! Amy the manager is so sweet and helped with anything I needed. The shuttle drivers were great and Alex recommended some amazing food places for me!

There were 2 employees at the front desk when we checked in during the 3 pm hour of Saturday, October 4, 2025, and BOTH of them were EXCELLENT! The employee taking care of the breakfast area in the 10 am hour of Sunday, October 5, 2025 was also excellent, he was really busting his butt to get everything out, he should get a shout out.

Thought you'd have a hot tub along with the pool. A minor quibble.

Our stay could not have been better! The hotel itself is lovely. Breakfast had a nice assortment. There was a nice pool. The free shuttle within 3 miles was a great convenience and the drivers were always friendly and helpful. Most of all, the staff were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, warm, and caring, and helpful. My family was going through an extremely difficult situation, and the staff were so kind and gracious and did everything they could to help us out. We will be back!

We have stayed here two different times while visiting family in Madison. Free parking, free breakfast, free shuttle bus if you go somewhere within 3 miles, friendly staff and clean spacious rooms are what makes this hotel a great place to stay.

Our stay was wonderful. Thank you to the staff who made us feel like home during our two week stay. The shuttle option was so great and easy to use. They really kept the room clean and the breakfast and little cafe was great too.

The room was nice more than I needed, and Eugene the shuttle driver was exceptional and traveling. Solo made me feel safe a definite bonus.

My husband and adult kids stayed for 6 nights and it was a wonderful experience all around. We will definately stay again! Cleanliness, staff, comfort, breakfasts, special requests.....EVERYTHING!

The parking is free. Check in was efficient. The staff we had contact were excellent making sure you were enjoying your stay. The breakfast was your standard fare. The breakfast area has plenty of seating. They have 2 coffee machines that make fresh ground coffee 24 hrs a day. The room was spacious as was the bathroom (suite). Beds were comfortable. There is a patio with fireplace at the back of the hotel. It is nice and had a comfortable feeling about it. They have a free shuttle that takes you anywhere in a 3 mile radius until 10 pm. We used it to go to Badgers football game. The only complaint we had was pool was to cold for our liking. The pool is salt water. There are 15 outdoor plastic chairs, and 5 knee high plastic tables. There is no hot tub or game room.

Great breakfast. Clean. Safe location. Had everything we needed including the small things. Planned well for the customers. Friendly staff. What more can you ask for?

The hotel was in a fantastic location with easy access to central Madison. I was visiting Madison to compete in Ironman Wisconsin. The facility and all amenities were well maintained and clean throughout. The Staff went above and beyond to welcome and care for guests while staying. It was a pleasure staying at this hotel during my visit to Madison. I will definitely stay at this location when I return, and recommend this hotel to any travellers.
