We had a truly wonderful afternoon tea with exceptional service from our waiter Anwar and the rest of the staff. The room was beautiful and flowers amazing
What a disappointment. Total waste of 9k. Check in ladies are fine. Our room was a million miles from the elevator. Check your mini bar items immediately. We had a have eaten box of chocolates. Had i not checked right away we would be on the hook. Housekeeping is the weakest link. Came into our room to find that Housekeeping had placed a bag of garbage and rags on top of my open suitcase. Absolutely horrific. I felt to violated. Such disrespect for guests belongings. I always suspected Housekeeping did unsanitary things while guests not present. This hotel is packed with people NOT STAYING. it's an absolute circus. Mostly middle eastern. Don't think a single person working there is British. Do not recommend at all. Shame on you Dorchester Hotel for a horrible experience. You did not care one bit about our experience.
We had an amazing afternoon tea here, the service was attentive without being intrusive, the waiter was knowledgeable about what he was serving and his interaction made the experience more special The food was a delight and the surrounding a little oasis in a hectic London
Exceptional from start to finish. Absolutely 5 stars, exceeded all expectations. We visited to celebrate my wife’s 40th Birthday and were upgraded to the suite which is phenomenal. The breakfast was outstanding and the service received from everyone we spoke to was fantastic. Would highly recommend this hotel!
We had afternoon tea with our daughter and my in laws during our annual Christmas trip to London! It was spectacular as usual and the service by Anuar was the highlight as usual! We look forward to going back to see Anuar and the Dorchetser again on our visits next year!
I am an old Dorchester client, having stayed there for the last 12 or 15 years, sometimes several times a year. Doormen and promenade personal know me and my family by name and many people at the reception as well. I stayed recently for 9 nights and while I cannot praise housekeeping, in room dining and especially breakfast highly enough, I would like to mention some less agreeable interaction with reception people, who lacked sometimes the tact of handling minor problems. My room did not have a mirror and this did not bother me until New Year’s Eve. I talked about it to the reception on Jan 1st and while an apology and a smile would have made me happy they just insisted that the room had a mirror and I did not find it. I called them later and told them my room did not have a mirror and they offered to get me one, I was already pissed by their attitude and did not accept. Small detail, I know, but for a hotel that I stay since so long, and a hotel that caters so well to its clients, very unusual. I still love the hotel very much and intend to come back, but I fear the hotel is loosing something. Hopefully I am wrong.
We had a very nice stay at the Dorchester Hotel. We flew overnight from Boston and arrived early in the morning and dropped our luggage off and went for Wolesley’s for breakfast. Our room was available early but it was on the 2nd floor and had a tub/shower that was very difficult to navigate. We used Amex Fine Hotels to book our room and this wasn’t an upgrade but I think they tried to accommodate our early arrival. However, the next day I asked for a room change to a room with a walk-in shower and the front desk was very understanding and accommodated our request. The 5th floor room looking out over looking Park Lane and Winter Wonderland was beautiful. The room was beautifully appointed but there was some minor brick or roof repairs occurring but it started late in the morning. We had breakfast in our room twice and in the Grille restaurant. The food was very good and we had drinks at the Vesper Bar. Overall, a nice experience and the front desk was very helpful and accommodating.
Went to The Grill for the festive set lunch menu. Firstly, I think it was comparatively, one of the better valued set menus for similar hotels this year. The hotel was decorated lovely, the afternoon tea space looked amazing. Service was very good. My main came served without any vegetables and it was quickly resolved, our dessert order got lost and there was quite a wait but that didnt ruin our experience. Water was topped up frequently which sounds like a small thing, but I drink so much of it that I appreciated not having to keep asking for refills! We had to take the mini mince pies home as we were so full, they were placed in a tin tray in a comically large box and smashed to pieces by the time we were home, which made us laugh, perhaps we were the only people asking to take them home 😆. Aside from the couple of little slip ups as mentioned, we had a very nice time.
Front desk girls are lovely. Breakfast fantastic. ANUAR IS A HERO. The big problem is housekeeping. Came back from Breakfast. Sign on door housekeeping is inside. Go in . No housekeeping but a bag of rags and garbage sitting on my open suitcase. WTF. A bag of dirty rags and garbage placed on top of Hermès scarf and cashmere sweaters. No respect for guest belongs. My fear on housekeeping doing unsanitary things has come true. I had left 5 pounds on the bed for this person and this was the thanks received.
The rooms are undeniably beautiful—spacious, polished, and very comfortable, exactly what you’d expect at this level. Unfortunately, the overall environment feels stiff and a bit snobby. The atmosphere lacks warmth or inspiration, making the experience feel more performative than genuinely welcoming.
From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. A gorgeous flower bouquet my partner had arranged was waiting for me on arrival. Check-in was smooth and welcoming, and a member of the guest relations team personally came to greet us : a small detail that truly makes a difference. Our room (531) was perfect, with an extremely comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. What really sets this hotel apart, however, is the outstanding level of service. Every member of staff went above and beyond throughout our stay. Turndown service was flawless, with thoughtful touches, bathroom amenities used were all the time refilled, no need to ask for anything. Breakfast at The Promenade was outstanding, with excellent food quality and a great selection of eggs. I particularly loved the matcha on the menu, which was prepared perfectly : better than in many other 5-star hotels. The concierge team was exceptional, assisting my partner with multiple reservations, flower arrangements, and recommendations. Late one evening, I thought I had left my camera at a restaurant, and the concierge did everything possible to help locate it. If you’re staying on a Sunday, you must try the Sunday roast at The Grill. If you’re lucky, it will be served by Joy, whose service made me feel incredibly special on my birthday & at breakfast the other mornings. We also enjoyed massages at the spa, with both therapists being excellent. Guests also have access to the spa at 45 Park Lane, which is absolutely breathtaking we visited on a Sunday and had it entirely to ourselves. A special thank you to Jean for her wonderful service. From the beautiful Christmas decorations straight out of a movie to the kind doorman who assisted us on departure, every detail was perfect. Thank you to the entire Dorchester team for making my birthday unforgettable. We can’t wait to be back!
Our 2 night stay at The Dorchester was perfection. Our suite (The Mayfair Suite) was absolutely exquisite, it was hard to leave! The staff of the hotel was so wonderful, friendly and helpful. The decor for the holidays was really gorgeous and our food and drink experiences were excellent. The Vesper bar was especially cool (and the scene where Ian Fleeming signed his contract for the Bond films). The opportunity to stay at this iconic, grand hotel was truly magical and we hope to return in the future. We received our stay as part of a larger trip and I am not sure if the Mayfair Suite will ever be possible again, but our stay there was a holiday experience we will never forget.
customer service is terrible, they dont value customers who are regular customers and dont honour their promises! i am appalled by the way i have been treated and dont recommend this hotel at all, there are better options more luxurious in London
Sadly no longer a five star service at the bar. Staff require training on how to speak to customers and service provided.
My aunts, my mum and I came for our annual festive afternoon tea and had a lovely afternoon. The patisserie and sandwiches were excellent as always, especially the tropical tart and the gingerbread ice cream sandwich, and our waiter, Anwar, was so kind, fun and friendly. He really made our visit one to remember and took such great care of us. We look forward to coming back.
Me and my husband decided to spend 2 nights in London to experience Christmas festivities. This was our first time at The Dorchester. It's such a beautiful hotel. Our room (believe we got an upgrade) was beautifully decorated. It was a good size to. The bathroom was lovely and had underfloor heating. The room was immaculate. I had made requests when booking the room such as to have a bath and a bible in the room which were adhered to. On check in we were asked if we wanted our luggage brought to our room, unfortunately it took them 4 hours and phone calls from me to chase before it arrived in our room. We did receive an apology from a senior staff member and given dining credit. This was really the only poor service we received. The staff during our stay were friendly, always greeting you in the corridor. We didn't receive a turndown service one night. The cleaner also broke my hair product bottle and didn't advise us so no apology given. At checkout we we given some reimbursement. We had room service which arrived in good time and was good. I think compared to other 5 star hotels we've stayed in it's a bit more expensive. We both slept really well and melted into the bed. Just my personal preference but I would of preferred an inner sheet rather than just a duvet. We could hear some noise but nothing significant. We would recommend the hotel and would stay again. It's well located. It was lovely coming this time of year and seeing it decorated for Christmas. Thank you to everyone at The Dorchester for a lovely stay.
We had the best afternoon tea experience especially thanks to Anuar, you really made us laugh and enjoy it even more. The food and service was lovely. Only thing that could be better is when I went to desk to say I have afternoon booked they sat us waiting and forgot about us. This could be improved. Thanks to as air and rest of staff that made up for it
The Dorchester exudes opulence, grandeur and impeccable style. It radiates an ambience that is very warm and welcoming and you feel immediately comfortable as you walk into the beautiful foyer. Entering the Promenade Dining Room epitomises luxury and taste. The furnishings are truly gorgeous and with the beautiful piano music in the background makes for a wonderful atmosphere. The food is delicious and promptly served by professional staff who are polished, friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. It's simply a delightful venue for any occasion.
This trip was perfect, an absolutely magical experience. This isn't just a hotel, it's an experience and one that we are very grateful for! The welcome was exceptional - we instantly felt happy and relaxed from the greetings of the Concierge team and this set the tone of the entire experience. The suite and view was simply breathtaking - stunningly beautiful but also incredibly well designed with everything you could possibly need. There are no words to express how perfect it was, nothing could ever compare. Needless to say, it was also spotless and had all of the amenities you'd expect and far more! The entire staff were incredible, carrying themselves with exceptional elegance, grace and professionalism at at all times. The service provided is an example of true luxury in the hotel industry and we simply couldn't have asked for anything more. We should highlight the attentiveness of Miguel (who assisted us throughout our stay) - he was absolutely fantastic and his clear passion for the hotel was wonderful, full of enthusiasm and interesting facts. To stay here was a dream come true and we are already looking forward to having the opportunity to return to this very special hotel.
I absolutely love this place, they always make you feel at home. Being Christmas time, they’ve really made an effort with the decoration and it’s just beautiful. The staff as always go above and beyond to make everything perfect. We’ll be back soon.
Had THE most wonderful experience for afternoon tea. We took my niece for her birthday and our waiter, Anuar, was absolutely amazing. Was so kind and funny, and just an absolute delight to be around for the afternoon. Genuinely the best afternoon tea experience I’ve had in London. You cannot leave hungry and the experience overall is super special. Thank you to Anuar and the team!
The Dorchester in London is supposed to be a 5-star hotel, but it fell short of our expectations. Having stayed at The Peninsula down the street for a couple of nights prior to our stay at The Dorchester, we arrived with high hopes that The Dorchester could match our experience at The Peninsula, but they didn’t even get close. The Dorchester certainly feels more like a classic British hotel in the sense that the colors and decorations were less modern and more classically British. Our room had a nice reading nook and the flowers and sweets I ordered were set up nicely in our room upon arrival. However, the bathroom was weirdly situated in that the shower was directly next to the bathroom door so the shower mat (which was necessary due to the excess leakage from under the shower onto the shower floor) continued to get stuck under the bathroom door if you tried to open it. In addition, the actual shower door opened into the shower mat and would push it out of the way rendering the mat useless when actually getting out of the shower. Of the 3 elevators at The Dorchester, it seemed only one worked because it took way too long to get to the ground floor and up to our room on the 6th floor. We decided to take the steps on more than one occasion because the elevator was taking so long. The fitness center was small and cramped as compared to the fitness centers at The Peninsula and The Berkeley. There was also loud construction every morning that we were never informed of prior to booking or while checking in. The biggest disappointment was the apathetic nature of most of the staff. Unlike at The Peninsula and The Berkeley, the staff at The Dorchester (especially the valet area) acted bothered to help with bags, doors or anything else. What was an offer of assistance with a smile at The Peninsula and The Berkeley was viewed as an inconvenience at the Dorchester. To be fair, the beds at The Dorchester were the most comfortable compared to The Peninsula and The Berkeley, but that alone would not be enough to consider returning. In fact, The Dorchester is a property we would never return to.
We stay at the Dorchester always, and every visit is so so special. We were lucky enough to see the Christmas decorations appear the morning we departed, SPECTACULAR as always! The rooms are stunning, the beds are so comfortable, always a wonderful night's sleep. We had drinks in the Vespa bar, all the staff are amazing, so friendly, fast service, the ambience is perfection. Can't wait to be back! Mrs Osborne 💕
The reason for our visit was to celebrate a 70th birthday. Prior to our arrival I had lots of communication with the Guest Relation Team, drilling down on exactly what was required to make the stay memorable, and in the main this was achieved. The suite, 517, a Prestigue Dorchester Suite was stunning. Spacious, immaculately presented, with flowers, balloons, a cake etc., On our arrival we were greeted by a Butler, Miguel. Sadly that was the last we saw of him or in fact any other Butler during our 3 night stay! I had paid for additional flowers to decorate the suite and Phill, from the hotel florist, excelled himself. There were perfect. I also made reservations in Vespers Bar for the evening, along with dinner reservations in each of the main restaurants; The Grill, Alan Ducasse, China Tang. A different dining experience in each one. I have to say it is the 'Dorchester Team' who made the stay so memorable. Everyone we came into contact with went above and beyond to make us feel special. Here are a few that deserve a special thank you: Butler Miguel - Thank you for making our arrival so special. Sad we did not get to see you or any other member of the Butler team during our stay. Sandro - Promenade Restaurant Jacomo - Vespers Bar. Such a gentlemen, excellent service, even walked us to the Grill Restaurant as well as on other visits to Vespers made a point of coming and saying hello. Alex and Charlote - The Grill. Thank you both for such a warm, friendly service. Michele - Promenade Restaurant for breakfast - highly professional, warm and engaging - even arrange a small birthday cake. Mateo - Artists Bar - Relaxed, professional service. Took time to engage. Athena - Vespers Bar - very friendly, with a warm character Rashid - China Tang - Even though the restaurant was very busy he made an effort to ensure we had a memorable evening Mayo - Artists Bar - Evening cocktails served with a most friendly service. Vilma - Room service - very professional as well as friendly. With a wonderful smile. There is a considerable amount of 'rooftop' construction. Something I was not made aware of until our arrival, which was somewhat disappointing. Our suite was on the 5th floor, there was some residual nice during the day, thankfully not enough to spoil the experience. The Butler Team - as I have said I would have expected more from them. They were quick to answer the phone however, anything I requested was passed onto another member of the hotel team. We ordered breakfast on our suite on two occasions and both were served by a member of the room service team. Not, as we had expected by our butler! Butlers in the past, at other hotels, have taken charge, as well as being a major part of the stay. All-in-all we had an amazing, memorable time, and I would definitely return and recommend a stay so you can experience all the Dorchester has to offer.
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Everything was perfection. From the room to the breakfast to the service and amenities. Couldn’t recommend this hotel more
Enjoyed a breakfast here, ordering the eggs royale, toast and English breakfast served with their selected teas. Food was beautiful - although the price for toast and having to ask separately for butter could be improved. The decor is wonderful and makes it more enjoyable. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite & helpful. Would return when visiting London again.
This is undisputedly one the nicest friendliest hotels I’ve visited. The reception team are especially helpful and the team were very efficient, particularly as I had to leave in a hurry and needed a cab. The setting is stunning - make sure you visit the shop next door (which is currently Christmas themed!).
Afternoon Tea and service from staff is excellent great location, door men and staff are friendly, perfect treatment even for daytime guests. It signifies how hotel guests are treated. Expensive but work every penny
My friends surprised me with Afternoon Tea for my 60th Birthday. I can honestly say it was amazing. The staff were extremely attentive and polite. I know a little expensive for most, however, it was worth every penny. Sandwiches were fresh and fillings gorgeous. You are able to change fillings if there are 1 or 2 that you may dislike. If all are finished they will be replenished. I’m not really a desert/sweet person but I have to say the cakes were delicious. You are able to have unlimited coffees, speciality teas and hot chocolate. A beautiful ambience.
My husband and I stayed at The Dorchester in early October 2025, for a family birthday. We have visited the hotel’s restaurants for meals a number of times over the years, but this was only the second time we have stayed overnight. Our stay was wonderful from beginning to end. The hotel has recently been beautifully and tastefully refurbished, so all the areas looked and felt amazing. The staff were all so polite, helpful and dedicated to creating the perfect experience. On check-in, The Dorchester surprised us with a fabulous upgrade to one of their beautiful Belgravia Suites. Not only did this make our stay extra special, but the spacious sitting room provided the perfect venue for pre-drinks with our sons and their partners, who were joining us for a meal in China Tang that evening. We have stayed in a number of London’s most beautiful, iconic hotels and this was one of our most delightful and memorable experiences. Thank you for looking after us so well. We very much look forward to returning.
We booked this hotel to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we booked it the reservation staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We had a lovely quiet room with fruit and a small anniversary cake. We ate in the grill and the staff were helpful and attentive. The food especially the Dover sole was exceptional. The next day we had a really amazing breakfast celebrating with champagne. It was made even more special by Anuar who was attentive and helpful and made our anniversary start in such a wonderful way. Thank you also must go to reception and concierge staff who are amazing too.
Excellent service every time we stay at the Dorchester, my favourite London hotel.
Husband’s birthday
We visited The Dorchester yesterday as part of a 40th birthday present for me from my husband and what an incredibly special occasion it was. We booked in for Afternoon Tea and our host Anwar was absolutely incredible. The service he provided was impeccable and he made the whole occasion so much fun! The sandwiches, cakes and tea were absolutely beautiful and we are already deciding when we can return again!
Staff was cooperative and supportive, security was very good, quick response on call, I really enjoyed my stay
On the edge of Hyde Park. A few blocks from Shepherd Market, Audley Public House and Oxford Street. Most everything in London is close to something. Concierge service is exquisite and the entire staff is always more than willing to help. Unlikely to be disappointed.
I could have stayed at any 5 Star hotel in London - and unfortunately - I chose this hotel because - I have enjoyed other Dorchester Collection properties - and as that I usually stay at The Ritz and it is undergoing major renovations I thought I would give this property a chance since I had read so many positive articles about its recent renovation. Huge mistake! Huge! I booked an Executive Junior Suite for my 4 night stay and prepaid in advance - another huge mistake. Checked in late on a Thursday evening. Very pleasant Front Desk staff but very inexperienced - as would be the case for the rest of my stay. Was escorted to my Executive Junior Suite by a very junior Front Desk rep. The Junior suite was OK - not great - suite had very low ceilings at the very end of a long hallway next to a service door which was swinging open and closed at all hours. Was concerned but didn’t say anything. Tried to sleep in the next morning (Friday). Absolutely impossible. Precisely at 10 am thunderous construction noise directly above my head shook the entire suite - every square inch. I recorded it on my phone. Then intense drilling further reverberated the suite leaving me absolutely shaken and totally discombobulated. Phoned the Front desk to voice my displeasure not only about the current situation but also to inquire why the management had been so disrespectful as to not warn me of the immediate and extremely intense construction right above my head. The representative at the Front Desk pushed back and was not helpful and tried to brush my complaints aside. I insisted on a new quiet suite. Finally after a very intense conversation he said he would work on it. Took exceedingly long time to find new room. After a quiet weekend in what was supposed to be a wing of the hotel where renovations were supposedly complete - on Monday morning precisely at 10 am - rumblings of construction crews directly above my head. Complained to Butler team but as I was checking out that day - just endured it. This gaslighting by the management team at The Dorchester about the construction means I will never return - ever. Nor will I ever recommend this hotel to anyone although as someone who stays in luxury 5 star hotels about 3 months of every year at my own expense for personal travel I receive many requests for recommendations from those looking to travel to same sorts of properties. Ironically - when staying at another Dorchester Collection property in May 2024 I was asked if I would sit down with one of their consultants to discuss my experiences - positive and negative about luxury hotel accommodations and practices around the world and I was happy to oblige. Unfortunately- this terrible experience at one of their properties was one of my worst experiences ever. The only reason for two stars is that I found restaurant personnel in onsite restaurants extremely pleasant - so want to give credit where credit is due. The extremely high end London hotel scene has become extremely competitive over the past few years - very easy to cross The Dorchester off my list permanently
Hotel was relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed our weekend.
We stayed 6 nights at The Dorchester from 7th to 13th September 2025. Excellent hotel with great attention to detail. We enjoyed the classy comfort of the rooms and the service and food at The Grill and China Tang. The staff are wonderful and always have a smile for the guest. Housekeeping is impeccable. The only reason it gets a 4 rating is because of the unexpected poor service at the Promenade. We have had 3 meals in this outlet , of which one was a dinner with friends. That meal took over 2 hours with the Dessert taking almost 45 minutes! Breakfast today took close to an hour with us waiting for 30 minutes for our meal. On every occasion we were left frustrated and the staff on duty were flustered and left to apologise on behalf of the outlet. Would seriously recommend the senior F&B management to do a deep dive and understand the root causes. We have travelled to over 60 countries on business and pleasure and have stayed in good hotels and don't make this observation lightly. We are also a well wisher of The Dorchester and do intend to stay again. So this review is really in the spirit of alerting you to an area of customer dissatisfaction which you can easily improve. Good luck and best wishes.
This Hotel used to be my favorite one, all its details was luxurious and well done. And visited for many times, finding it’s better every time. I was shocked this August by A big change in level of quality, rooms, payment which I paid in full first day with extras, Date 14 suddenly I got massages from my bank that hotel is trying to get the amount again! Other thing that I paid for deluxe room 39 sq meters, Mayfair view, and got the tiniest one! A superior!! And a building view!!! Although I was there regular guest, they didn’t consider it, the biggest shock was the final day, although they told me I have credit to be returned to my card that was date 16 August, on the 17 early morning they asked to pay 1210 pounds!! For date 17 that I didn’t stay, forced me to pay that additional day while I was checking out!! It wasn’t for extras, that was fully paid previously, it was for nothing! Im very shocked that such a famous hotel did all that ! I claimed it, and didn’t get my money back, nothing was done about this case.
Hotel is being remodeled and there was excesive nosie. Also, hotel looked understaffed.
Another great stay at The Dorchester. Incredibly well looked after and the rooms were lovely and comfortable. You can’t hear anything in the rooms which is really relaxing. Looking forward to our next stay in November.
Outstanding
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, especially with excellent service. I can say it is even above the Four Seasons. They clean our room perfectly not just once but several times a day, and they replenish anything the room needs without missing a thing. All the staff are truly very professional, but especially Violeta and Mihaela are exceptionally professional; they welcome guests pleasantly and warmly, as if hosting them in their own homes. In my opinion, The Dorchester is the best hotel in London.
Impeccable service! Fantastic Staff and Beautiful Hotel
A beautiful experience to dine in this wonderful iconic hotel. The greeting on arrival is always so lovely. We were kindly looked after on arrival and made to feel so welcome. All the staff are professional, polite and friendly and the service is outstanding. The food is sublime and the whole experience leaves one feeling rather cherished.
Everything
Its a pleasure to stay at the Dorchester ! The staff are all welcoming and Anwar is definitely still glowing (he always gives us a great time at breakfast at the Promenade) 🌷!! Looking forward to staying with our Dorchester family very very soon 🩷
Had a recent stay at The Dorchester and it really is one of those “London institutions” that lives up to the name. From the moment you arrive, it feels like you’re stepping into something a bit special – not showy, just properly polished. The service is slick but never stiff – everyone we dealt with was warm, switched-on, and made the whole experience feel effortless. Rooms are classic in style (don’t expect modern minimalism), but beautifully done. Big comfy bed, plenty of space, and proper attention to detail. You can tell they haven’t cut corners anywhere. That said, if you’re after a modern, contemporary vibe, this probably isn’t the place for you – it’s all about timeless luxury and that old-school glamour, which they do incredibly well. Had drinks in The Bar before dinner – highly recommend. Dark, glamorous and a bit theatrical in the best way. Didn’t eat at the main restaurant this time, but breakfast was spot on, and you can see the whole place runs like clockwork. It’s not cheap, obviously, but for a proper “London moment” or special occasion, it hits the mark. You’re paying for history, location and impeccable service – and they don’t disappoint on any of those.
We spent a weekend this July in London at the Dorchester. The hotel was above expectations and we loved every minute of our stay. A special thank you to Anuar in the promenade who couldn’t do enough for us during our stay, always warmly welcoming us and making us feel totally at home at the hotel! We would return to see him alone he was so good to our little girl so thanks Anuar and all at the Dorchester for your hospitality! see you soon! 🫶 Danny, Andrea & Alexandra Drysdale
We did not stay at the The Dorchester but went for Sunday afternoon High Tea. It is over-rated and very very expensive. The cost was comparable to having a Beef Wellington dinner at Wiltons--just for some tea and snack sandwiches! And the tea service is not good: unbelievably they leave the tea leaves in the teapot after serving the first cup. Any beginner knows you have to remove the tea leaves or they continue brewing and create a bitter taste. Sorry we went and do not recommend it.
This was a trues 5 star experience. I booked a 2 night stay in a junior suite. This was due to my 70th birthday year - actual date was in march. But it was a bucket list stay. I drove to the hotel and valet parked. As for 2 days it was cheaper than getting a taxi to and from home to hotel. The valet was extremely courteous and helpful. We checked in and the receptionist advise that we had been upgraded to a Dorchester Suite. He showed us to the suite and introduced us to our butler. Who sorted out some cake and fruit. The suite was excellent. - a massive bedroom , separate lounge with a dining table for 6 persons. Unfortunately The weather was not too good and so we spent some time in the lounge relaxing. The restaurants were a good choice , but we ate in the promenade where the staff were so friendly. There was no one who w§e could have said was not nice. A magnificent hotel and I have stayed in top hotels around the world. Can’t wait till 1’m 80
We spent one night at the Dorchester and our only criticism is we were not informed there would be building work. Such a disappointment as this was a special occasion my husband!s 65th Birthday. Apart from that, the staff were all very nice and polite and could not do enough for you. The cleanliness of our bedroom was first class and perfection to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and afternoon tea in particular and could not fault the ambience and the pianist. All in all a wonderful special memory.
I thought the hotel lobby and seating area for the afternoon tea looks gorgeous but I was not expecting the service charge. I was a tourist and where I am from tips are your choice they are not just added at the end of the bill. I noticed in London lots of bars and restaurants do this but they are not clear that you can ask to take it off. The service was slow I had to ask for the menu a few times, the bill, the lady never gave me a tag for the cloakroom so I had to go back and ask her, some teas are extra £30, £20 or £10 on top of the afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was £110 each person, one glass of orange juice was £14. The food was nicely presented and juice was delicious but I was disappointed by the service charge. As a tourist I really was not expecting that. In Ireland we don't have that tips are optional, we don't have a tip culture. I think it is from the USA where staff get paid poorly so customers are expected to pay the staff wage. I think all workers should be paid a living wage but I prefer tips to be my choice especially when the food is already priced higher that other places. In Ireland in a 5 star hotel afternoon tea is €60 per person and no service charge.
Unbelievably nice hotel. The rooms are spacious and newly renovated. The service was above and beyond. We traveled with our baby and without even asking, the hotel left a changing pad, baby bath, baby bath products, etc in our room. The location is incredible. We’ve stayed at many of the top hotels in London and this one is definitely among the best. Can’t wait to visit again.
One of the best hotels in London. The room was incredibly luxurious and spacious. Location is amazing near the park and tons of restaurants in Mayfair. Will definitely be back.
The reigning King of London luxury
Magnificent in every way.
Simply the best afternoon tea. Incredible attentive service, champagne flowing, great food and love piano music. A quintessential English afternoon tea. Perfection. A special thank you Anuar to for looking after us. Perfect anniversary celebration.
Very nice hotel with friendly staff. The room and service were excellent 👍
Delightful afternoon tea served by the fantastic Anuar, who was very cheerful and attentive. He certainly made the event special!! (Bonus points for dairy free afternoon tea) Definitely worth a visit when in London! Absolutely delicious food and a wonderful ambience to rest in.
How posh and lovely. Immaculate surroundings with happy and accommodating staff. Our room overlooking the park was spectacular. We had dinner in Tom Booten's restaurant, drinks in the Vesper Bar and drinks after dinner in the Artist's bar. With live music every night and unbelievable service, this stay was refreshing and incomparable.
Absolutely delightful
The Dorchester is a rare breed of hotel that seamlessly embraces the modern while retaining the best of the old. Despite the dozens of five star hotels in London, the Dorchester stands out as having a character all its own - one that you’ll want to return to again and again. The furnishings and decor throughout are effortlessly glamorous, but at the same time homely and inviting, creating unparalleled comfort and a home away from home vibe. Think beds that you sink into; plush, velvet sofas and bathtubs deep enough to be swimming pools. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a Dorchester suite, overlooking Hydr Park. The suite was enormous and accompanied by the supremely attentive and effortlessly charming butler, Sean. He was kind enough to arrange an in suite party with me and several friends which delivered a mountain of food and wine that far surpassed my expectations. Breakfast was similarly spectacular with a varied and delicious menu. I opted for the full English and it was the best 5 star English breakfast I’d ever had. The location on Park Lane is perfect and close to everything. A huge highlight of the trip was being taken to and from the hotel to my train station in their custom Bentley. My stay over a weekend was everything I could have hoped for. The service was friendly and attentive, anticipating my needs and consistently going above and beyond. I’ll be back.
Exceptional
An excellent and comfortable stay. The quality of the room is absolutely exceptional and the service cannot be matched. We also were most impressed by the breakfast and service offered. The Dorchester lives up to expectations. We will definitely be back
If I could give this hotel 7 stars, I would!! From the moment I booked the concierge contacted me asking if there was a special occasion. I explained it was a 60th birthday treat. We arrived to be greeted by the head butler Shaun, lovely man. He took us directly to our room. I booked a superior room and nearly fell through the floor when we walked into The Mayfair Suite!! The furnishings were beautiful, very luxurious. We were given Champagne, fruit, petit fours. There were two bathrooms, dining table and the best stocked bar Ive ever seen. We ordered breakfast in our room and again I cannot praise the staff or food highly enough. we tried the cocktail bar, beautiful surroundings with a great pianist. This was a once in a lifetime experience for both of us and the staff made it extra special. Thank you. If only all hotels had the same dedication to their guests.
We had a perfect time staying at The Dorchester. The staff and services are fit for a king and make this an excellent place for anyone seeking a uniquely English experience in opulence and refinement.
Great Fantastic stay! Clean rooms, friendly staff, and great location. Breakfast was delicious and service was top-notch. Highly recommend for a relaxing and comfortable experience. Great hotel! Spotless rooms, friendly staff, tasty breakfast, and perfect location. Smooth check-in and comfy beds made the stay even better. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!
The Dorchester is old school glamour and luxury executed with impeccable courtesy by expert staff
Incredible hotel, from the moment you walk in, they treat you like a king. So kind and friendly. The rooms are stunning and every inch is gorgeous. Food was fantastic and you are made to feel very special. Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
The Dorchester was exceptional.
I had a meal with my family at the Dorchester on Monday this week to celebrate my graduation. The Promenade can be likened to being immersed in sugar almonds- the decor is stunning. The food was excellent, as was the service and they catered sensitively to an array of food allergies. The thing I like about the Dorchester is that it is classy but not stuffy- you can really relax and enjoy the surroundings. Already planning my next visit with friends. I have to say it’s my favourite place to eat.
A superb comfortable elegant hotel very conveniently located across from the beautiful Hyde Park. Their regal Bavarian suite with double balcony overlooking the Park is beautifully furnished with every detail looked after. The suite was kept absolutely spic and span by dedicated Anita n Tetyana. Very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent dinning at Michelin star restaurant. Five star service all the way.
My wife left her pills behind and with Monday being a holiday the fastest courier delivery would be Wednesday. Concierge Philip hand delivered to south of France on Monday. Masterclass. Everything else was spot on, as expected in such an establishment.
We went for afternoon tea with family and had the loveliest server Anwar! He made us laugh, was quick and polite. Thank you for making our experience special and memorable! General - atmosphere was lovely, comfy seating, beautiful piano playing too!
Amazing property and staff! They are impeccable as a hotel. They were amazing with our little one, and went above and beyond to make him feel special. We will definitely go back. As a very good traveler, we’ve stayed in more than 100 hotels around the world, and I can say this one is on my top 3 list. Fernanda Dodge
This place is out of this world Amazing. I stayed for Mothers day and they were so accomodating. They ensured me and the kids have a GREAT time. Would defo stay again. The Spa - Amazing The room - out of this world The restaurants - First class The location - perfect The service - Outstanding
The best hotel I ever been.
Gorgeous Hotel
London has no shortage of famous five-star hotels, but if you are looking for the ultimate in luxury, then the Dorchester should be--without hesitation--your London address. From the moment you enter the breathtaking lobby, you are surrounded by the finest things money can buy--thick carpets that your well polished shoes will sink into, massive displays of fragrant flowers and public rooms that are decorated to a royal standard. Accommodations are sumptuous and our suite had everything we could have wanted, from the warmed marble floors in the bathroom, to the ideal adjustable lighting the dressing room and the John Lobb shoe shine service offered to all the Dorchester's guests. The attention to detail made the experience special as they had my favorite brand of English chocolates waiting for me, as non-drinkers---the alcohol free champagne was on ice and there was even a photo of our much loved dog waiting for us by the bedside table. Service at the Dorchester is legendary and during our stay we received the perfect blend of refined yet engaging service. At check in, the Dorchester Ambassador, Katarina was on hand to welcome us back to our London home. The Les Clefs d'Or concierge team of Paul, Nikola, Stuart and Andy were there to take care of any requests and in the fabulous Promenade restaurant, the amazing Anuar made sure that we were treated in grand style--befitting such a theatrical and elegant room. The doormen were always offering us rides in the hotel's house car, and whenever we came back to the hotel late at night after an evening of theatre and dining, the overnight team of Courtney and Angelo-Pasqual were there to get our reviews on what we had seen. Overseeing every detail about our reservation and stay was Lara in the executive office who checked in with us frequently to make sure that our stay was memorable and perfect. Mayfair has always been the most exclusive section of London and the Dorchester is walking distance to a wonderful array of shops, restaurants and attractions in this beautiful neighborhood. There is a reason the Dorchester has become synonymous for luxury and style for almost 100 years this was a stay that I will always remember.
It's not news that the Dorchester is an incredibly fancy, high-end luxury hotel, and of course the rooms are gorgeous and there are Lamborghinis in the driveway and the flower arrangements are spectacular and a Vesper martini at the Vesper bar is delicious and costs £30. What was news to me, when we took my elderly in-laws to a weekend at the Dorchester as the last leg of a larger trip around the UK, was just how friendly and welcoming it would be. Everyone we interacted with on staff was outgoing, approachable, and seemed genuinely enthusiastic to be a part of such an incredible institution and happy to share it with the guests who are lucky enough to be able to afford it. The waiter serving afternoon tea in the Promenade will insist that you are having the time of your life, and if you're not, he'll swap out your champagne, your chosen tea sandwiches, your view if he can help it. The hostess in the Grille for morning breakfast will happily chat about how intimidating it is to clean the (gorgeous, ostentatious) chandeliers. The bartender will remember your drink and party from the prior evening, and tell you all about the £12,000 Dorchester Signature Cognac Experience, including that they know nobody's going to order it but how exciting was it that they got to taste the Louis XIII cognacs so that they could explain their tasting notes if someone actually did? We were excited for our stay but worried that it could be intimidating. After one of the best hotel stays of my life, I'm thrilled to say that we were dead wrong, and I can't wait to go back - not even for the rooms, but because I'd genuinely love to see these people again. That's not something even a £1,000-a-night hotel room usually buys.
Brilliant. Superb service, spotlessly clean and an excellent team. We enjoyed our stay enormously and would not hesitate to go back despite some rather expensive prices. It's an institution. not just a hotel. special mention for the Doormen who are always there to assist guests coming in and going out.
Cheeky weekend pre-Christmas trip. No, not the cheapest but honestly it isn’t ever going to be. Had a small suite which was beautiful with a fabulous view. All the food options from afternoon tea to Ducasse to possibly the best English breakfast are outstanding. Staff, professional yet incredibly friendly. Best or certainly close to best cocktail bar in London. Location speaks for itself.
Thank you to the Dorchester hotel for there little touches making my surprise treat a day to remember. Only hotel that’s ever gone out there way to offer sugar free afternoon tea , balloons and cakes in our room . Very much appreciated. Staff were excellent and attentive and extremely friendly throughout. Thank you very much
The Dorchester is in a class of its own. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Amazing hotel and best Spa treatments. We arrived in a large group and were well looked after and everything was well organised and ran very smoothly. Rooms are beautiful
Beautiful hotel, everything is just perfect. This is the best gym I have ever seen in a hotel, with Technogym machines, free weights, weightlifting rack, ropes, yoga balls, dumbbells, boxing bag/gloves, rowing, elliptical, stair, treadmills, really tons of great equipment. The service is impeccable. Very luxurious experience. Don’t get me started on the high tech toilet!
We regularly stay in London to take family excursions to museums or other attractions or just to relax and enjoy being treated well; as our other regular hotel was becoming increasingly disappointing we began to reach out further to find a new home base. The Dorchester delivered and more! The hotel is in a good location with close proximity to parks, Oxford St and attractions and was easy to get to. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the doormen - who I must say were excellent as well as being professional, friendly and courteous and entered to check in a little early before we headed to the Science Museum. Check in was very thorough, quick and organised with lots of small personal touches that we would see throughout our stay. Daniele was our focal point and he told us our room was ready and they had upgraded our room and offered to view it before departing which we obviously did. The room - a Dorchester Studio Room - was beautifully decorated and full of lots of useful amenities. We also met Melissa the Guest Services Manager and she was really attentive too, introducing herself personally and giving us her business card; we corresponded with her throughout our stay and nothing was too much hassle. Both staff members are obviously amazing assets to the hotel and we thought they deserved recognition. We returned to the hotel after the Science Museum ready to go for a swim at 45 Parklane - offsite; unfortunately there was a mix up initially with the booking however it was swiftly resolved and Melissa escorted us across to make sure it was all okay. The swimming pool was lovely and quiet and we all enjoyed a dip and planned to return the next day too. It is also worth mentioning that the staff were all amazing too and the amenities there were fantastic and well stocked. I should also mention all the extras that were left in the room for our discovery when we entered, including a lovely fruit platter, soft drinks, chocolate hotel facade and popcorn - plus a complimentary drink at the Vesper Bar - as well as a Dorchester teddy, gift pack and David Walliams reading book specifically bought for our son. It was very thoughtful and a lovely surprise that added to all the small personal touches and consideration from the hotel staff. Our evening meal at The Grill was perfect and we had a delicious meal. The hostess was friendly and welcoming and the manager Matteo treated us like VIPs which made our visit even more special. Staff were also really on point and attentive, with both Matteo and our server David checking in to make sure everything was okay and we were enjoying ourselves, chatting to us in between courses and even giving us a tour of the kitchens which was very interesting and informative. The bed was very comfortable, like a fluffy cloud and we all had a great nights sleep. The lighting controls were really helpful and handy in the night for ease and all of the details in the room like this have obviously been really well thought out. We asked for a few extras amenities earlier in the night and all of these were dealt with immediately and brought to the room (including a change in tea ware for my wife as she likes a bigger cup, and plasters for sore feet; again nothing was too much for the staff). We took breakfast in the Promenade, which was the only real disappointment of the stay. We felt the service wasn't great and it was overpriced. We did feed this back and they appeared to take this very seriously the issue was immediately and amicably resolved. Our second swim was again brilliant and a nice treat before we headed home and the check out with Daniele was again friendly and well organised, we had a nice chat to the staff and were planning our return. We had a quick meal in the Vesper Bar which was really good and then headed out toward home and normality.
Lovely luxurious stay
Perfect two night stay celebrating our daughters birthday. A special mention for Anuar who served us both days at breakfast. He was very attentive, friendly, professional and made our stay even better. Would also highly recommend the Spa at 45 Park Lane.
Impeccable…facilities and service second to none.
Staff is fantastic
Amazing stay with the Dorchester with excellent service provided by all staff. It was also our anniversary and we were surprised with the touches they provided in the room including champagne. Definitely a place I would stay again at!
Wow what a Hotel and the best staff ever. We had a two night stay which just wasn't enough. On arrival you are immediately greeted by the super friendly doormen who relieve you of your bags and guide you through to reception. Check in is simple with another lovely member of staff. We were upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking Hyde Park. Breakfast in The Promenade was excellent, it is such a beautifully decorated area to be seated in and a special shout out to Michele who made us feel so welcome. We also had dinner in The Promenade, a special shout out to Joe who went above and beyond to provide my husband's favourite beer for him. Lunch at The Grill was delicious and thank you to Mattia for the "behind the scenes" tour around the amazing kitchens. Drinks at the Vesper Bar are a must with the fab DJ playing and the best cocktails. This hotel is purely wonderful, its location, its decor, its spa and the absolutely fabulous staff, you made us sad to leave but we will definitely return very soon. Thank you for the amazing weekend.
I booked a couple of nights here for a treat for my wife on her birthday and we had a truly magical time. What a lovely hotel; we were upgraded because of the special occasion to a fabulous, newly renovated room overlooking Hyde Park which had everything you could wish for and more. What a beautiful, stylish bathroom with adjustable lighting; a bath after long walks round the city was something to look forward to and rounded off the day before we went out for dinner. Without exception we were welcomed and put totally at ease by every single member of the Team we came across - you could tell that not only did they feel proud to work at this hotel, but they felt appreciated. My wife enjoyed an early morning swim each day ay 45 Park Lane next door; again lovely staff, what a pity there is no bridge or tunnel to it! We treated ourselves to a (very) expensive breakfast on the first morning for the sheer pleasure of the experience and it certainly lived up to our expectations; what a great way to start a day and a late night drink in the lovely Art Deco Vesper bar was a perfect end to the day as well. There is no doubt it is an expensive place to stay but it was worth every penny, and as our first time, I'd prefer a few less visits to London, or perhaps shorter stays and spend them at the Dorchester rather than a cheaper place elsewhere. Thank you to all the Team for making my wife's birthday so special; the cake, balloons, wine and present were so very much appreciated. Can't wait to return!
Our yearly visit to the promenade over the festive period with close friends was absolutely delightful. The Artists Bar was wonderful and the perfect place to sit and admire the wonderful Christmas decorations over a glass of champagne. Afternoon tea in the promenade was magical with the choir. The chef did well at meeting our dietary requirements and the sandwiches and desserts were beautifully presented. We were delighted to meet Mr Richard Newell in person, after communicating via email for many years. He was ever so charming, accommodating and went above and beyond for us. We are grateful for everything he has done for us over the years. Thank you to Monika Mazuruk and Berna Isik for arranging our booking and taking on board all of our requirements to make our anniversary special. We had an amazing time and can't wait to visit again for my Birthday in June. You were both truly wonderful and always make sure our visits are extra special. Both Monika and Berna are personable, efficient, kind and personable employees, who are an asset to the Dorchester hotel. We couldn’t imagine the hotel running smoothly without their top two employees! Thank you Richard, Monika and Berna, you are amazing at what you do and we will see you soon.
Fabulous hotel and staff we had a lovely stay. From the door staff and Reception and housekeeping all were so helpful and friendly and took initiative to make our stay so good. In particular I’d like to mention Anwar in The Promenade who looked after us exceptionally well for breakfast and lunch🙌🙌🙏 I would recommend The Dorchester Hotel, its rooms, facilities (my husband said the gym and swimming pool were excellent) and last but not least it’s amazing staff.
Remains one of the best in London and the world. I couldn't fault them for anything - visited with my extended family including two children ages 9 and 12. The hotel was amazing for a family vacation. The Dorchester arranged swimming for my nieces in the sister property across the street which has (I am told) an amazing pool and relaxation area. Very glad we chose this hotel as opposed to some of the newer entrants - one of which I visited on this trip for a drink and was very underwhelmed with the service and ambiance.
We loved our stay at The Dorchester for NYE! We were given an upgrade on check-in and the room was very spacious with a great design! The front desk and rest of the team were very courteous and professional. We will stay there again.
