Très bon emplacement. Bon rapport qualité prix pour le bar - restaurant

Pas assez de lumière naturelle dans la chambre. Pas assez de lumière pour lire en général, y compris avec toutes les lumières allumées. Le service est d'ailleurs moyen. Le personnel a refusé de commander un taxi (sachez que on peut pas le faire soi même avec un numéro non américain...). J'ai failli rater le train.

Staff at night charged me for something they shouldn’t have, very sneaky. If I wouldn’t have checked my bank account I’d have missed it. Bathroom curtain was dirty, with mold. Carpets were also dirty and stained. Room maintenance could be improved.

I had to move rooms two times due to a leak/water all over the bathroom floor, not only in the first room but also the second room. Luckily the third room was dry…

Expected breakfast is covered but it is not! Room cleaning is by request! No room cleaning at all if not requested! The room and facilities are quite different from the photos on the website! Room is tinny!

El aire acondicionado estaba malo quedaba prendido todo el rato y la pieza estaba congelante llame varias veces y solo me mandaban un tecnico que se demoraba mucho y lo apagaba y se volvia a predner a los minutos automáticamente y dijeron que asi funcionaba porque los controles no servian y venia de la central…yo les dije pero tengo frio y decian que iria otro tecnico , demoraba muchisimo yo me sentia pesimo venia enferma con dolor ee espalda y mas encima soportando el frio. Baje personalmente al front desk y una de las chicas me atendio como enojada nisiquiera escuchaba lo que pasaba con el aire no me dejaba hablar . Despues de mucho insistir finalmente alguien logro apagarlo desde la central pero yo quere sin acceso a prenderlo cuando quisiera…menos mal no hizo calor si no hubiera tenido que aguantarme! Es ridiculo en todos los hoteles uno controla el AC con su control remoto…lo otro es q no incluye desayuno y es muy oscuro tiene un auta tenebrosa . No volveria

Las habitaciones era enanas, sucias, mal estao, con cables por todos lados, apenas sin luz y nada que ver con las fotografias que teniais puestas en la web. Nos tuvimos que ir del hotel a otro.

Dirty sheets, with holes. The curtains would not go up, we had to keep them down all the time. There was no shampoo, no shower gel, only air conditioner.

The hotel is in a perfect location, in a really nice area and close to everything. It was very convenient for getting around and exploring the city.

Unfortunately, I don’t feel that this is really a 4-star hotel. The cleanliness could definitely be much better, especially for a hotel of this category. That said, overall it was okay and I had a pleasant stay.

Reasonably priced, bed and bathroom is decently clean, location is amazing, it's really close to everything.

Everything is just old, stains on curtain, room was a bit small, the elevator didn't work (down button was broken, so you had to press up to go down.

It was a bit of a hot mess. Surly and distant front desk service. Faulty elevators. Small, dank room. No room refrigerator. Slow service in bar/cafe. (I have stayed in Freehand NY many times, and while it's also past its glory days, the value kinda makes up for it.)

The rooms were dusty and we did not have towels the first few days when we arrived. The elevator didn’t work. The toilet paper holder was broken and we had housekeeping come repair it. Also, our access cards stopped working 3 times during our weekly stay and the front staff was rude. The morning we checked out, the employee at the front desk was sleeping 😦, I had to wake her up to get serviced.

Great customer service from the manager Deonta. I booked through a 3rd party service initially but the reservation didn’t go through, he held a room for me while I resolved the issue and honored the rate. The hotel itself has a lot of character. It’s an older building but it’s cozy, the coffee shop has a chill vibe. Would stay again

El Hostel tenia una ubicación excelente, todo caminando y cerca. Una habitación para 4, 2 camas cucheta con baño privado. Este tipo de habitación no tiene servicio de shampoo, jabón, etc, si las habitaciones similares de otro piso, no lo sabíamos. Servicio de toallas y sabanas excelente. Un sofa en la habitación y una mesita. Lo necesario para cambiarse, bañarse, y volver a dormir. Tiene un bar abajo y restaurante muy lindo, todo onda retro muy bien ambientado. El check in rapido y antes del horario y el check out solamente comentamos que nos ibamos, porque ya estaba todo pago. Hubieramos preferido un lugar aunque sea con frigrobar, pero Chicago es una ciudad muy cara para alojamientos centricos, con lo cual priorizamos ubicación. Excelente todo, caminando por toda la parte centrica, excepto el Navy Pier que queda un poquito mas lejos. Hicimos un free walking tour de la Mafia de Chicago que realmente fue excelente.

Si hubiéramos sabido que habia otra habitación con shampoo, jabon y demas, lo hubiéramos considerado, pero en cuanto al precio, compramos shampoo y demas en el CVS que estaba al lado y las botellitas de 100 ml, y con eso nos arreglamos sin problema.

The room was very bright in the morning which made it difficult to sleep in. The curtain over the window was a small, canvas cloth. Something like blackout shades would be so much better.

Our bathroom smelled like water thats been sitting there forever hence when the toliet would be flushed the water would come out of the shower drain and sit there for 30 minutes. When taking a shower the water didnt drain at all until about an hour.

Matratze, Bettbezug und Decke hatten Flecken. Hinterm Schrank hat es geschimmelt weshalb es immer feucht und ekelhaft im Zimmer gerochen hat. Nach dem checkout konnten wir die Koffer auch nichtmehr im Hotel lassen.

The staff are friendly, and professional. The room is cute, clean, and the bed is comfortable. Also the hotel is quiet.

My friend and I found our stay at the Freehand Chicago to be highly unsatisfactory. The room is dirty and outdated. No fridge or safe to keep personal items. Sheets had stains UPON CHECK IN. Asked front desk for more and although she did give them to us, we had to change them ourselves as housekeeping did not come. Asked for housekeeping and was informed that they would not come because it was after 11am. We have never stayed at a “hotel” where you have to request housekeeping. Curtains are old and dusty. Room is small like a shoebox and very stuffy. Walls are paper thin and we can hear everyone around us. Bathroom in room is bigger than the actual room. Shower is dirty and the shower curtains were moldy. Very similar to a dorm. Bathrooms in lobby are dirty and have gnats. View is terrible. They try to advertise as a “casual laid back vibe” but it’s really just lazy and outdated. The bars in the hotel are beautiful no doubt, but it’s clear that that’s where the budget went to instead of the actual rooms you’ll be sleeping in. Staff is unprofessional and rude. When looking up the hotel online it shows pictures of a different freehand location in Tokyo. It honestly felt like a joke when we walked in. For the amount of money we paid we were definitely expecting a much different experience. Our stay has been highly disappointing and we will never book here again.

Absolutely terrible from the moment I stepped into the building it was dirty, very unwelcoming and damp. Beds were not changed and they were not clean I was unable to use the duvet as it was dirty and damp. I stayed there for a week and not once was my room cleaned and I didn’t even receive as little as one fresh towel I HAD TO ASK MYSELF! for that and toilet roll. The windows were filthy with mould and the curtains were disgusting with mould. The place was in a very rough area I have no other words DO NOT STAY HERE THE PRICE WE PAID WAS RIDICULOUS FOR SUCH LOW STANDARDS AND NOT TO MENTION THE FEE WE HAD TO PAY ON ARRIVAL I NEARLY FELL TO THE GROUND.

Kinda disappointed with my stay. The room had a strong mold smell that made it feel unsafe. The AC couldn’t be adjusted and kept resetting, leaving the room freezing, and the elevator waits were excessive. For a one-night stay for almost 500$, these conditions were unacceptable

The location is very good, 2 minute walk from Magnificent Mile and 5 minute walk from the River.

Room was disgustingly dirty, stains everywhere, random trash left in the middle of the floor from previous people, etc. Bathroom came with nothing, no shampoo or condition, and not even soap. Bed was worse than my college dorm mattress, pillow was the weirding thing I've ever felt.

They didn't answer messages before we got to the property, downgraded our room without compensation, just unwilling to work with us. Staff were unfriendly.

I liked the location.

The room I chose online, was not the room I was given. I was told I would get my deposit back as soon a I checked out. I still have not received it. There were weird stains on the curtain. No fridge. The room was tiny. The shower also was tiny.

The location was great, convenient to everything I wanted to visit and to all transportation. It was also surrounded by lots of restaurants, shopping and services.

The room was tiny with only one functioning light fixture in the ceiling and it faced a huge parking garage only a few feet away. The bathroom door lever came off in my hand the first time I opened the door.

Receptionist were very nice and helpful. Was located near the Red line, which is perfect for moving around the city.

Excellent Location, great cafe and downstairs bar, excellent people watching and vibes. This is the hotel equivalent of your favorite trashy dive bar.

rooms are very basic, no shampoo or soap provided. rooms can have significant street noise. AC is centrally controlled and temperature is barely acceptable. It has the vibe of a European hostel in all the good and bad ways.

The front desk lady was very cold and unwelcoming which imidiatly raised a red flag for me. Then the elevator looked old, small and made scary noises. We were afraid we'll get stuck. Arriving to our floor, the place looked old and creepy. Upon entering the room, it was small, old and didry. We quickly discovered many stains on seat cushions and on bed curtains. It looked like the room was never cleaned. No towels, nor shower-gel were provided. We felt in a biohazard zone. We complained at the front desk and they changed our room. The next room was slightly beter in size but still old and didry.

The room was dirty, dusty, horrible views from the window. The front desk staff was uneducated in adequate and respectful customer service skills. They were ghetto in their speech, kept smacking their lips, spoke over us when we tried explaining something, acted annoyed any time we approached them. My husband upon arrival that we had booked the wrong dates without double-checking first, then when we showed our reservation they never apologized for the mistake. On the last day we were charged $80+ no one could tell us what it was for, thankfully it was reimbursed after we brought it up. There were eyelash extensions and other trash left throughout the room upon checking in. The liquids such as soap, shampoo and condition, body wash were half empty. The toilet paper was not replaced. Some of the towels had makeup stains. There were big clusters of dust all over the place, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed in what appears to be a long time, and it smelled like cat.

Terrible experience overall. We started in one room that we found blood stains inside of (my sister thinks that they are from people doing drugs). Along with the blood, there were other stains everywhere. We also found a wrapper in between the mattress and bed itself. The shower looked okay but we didn't look much and other reviews say it was terrible. Also, there was no shampoo or body wash in the shower or anywhere, really. There was only hand soap. In addition, there was no hand towel or towel for after you get out of the shower, instead we used the a towel that was meant to be used as a rug to dry our hands. Because of how absolutely terrible our room was, we requested a new room, saying that there were stains and the overall cleanliness was terrible and we did not feel comfortable in our room. The staff was not very apologetic, she didn't even care at all. When we got our new room, we noticed that the cleanliness was also terrible. There was no blood, but there were many stains to the point where it looked like the curtains had never been cleaned before. On the top of one of the bunk beds, there was something written in pencil from 2017 (we know it's from 2017 because they wrote the date). We ended up cutting out trip short and only staying at the hotel for a day because of all of this. 0/10 would never recommend.

Loved the staff, the front desk, cafe/restaurant team were all great. Really well designed common spaces (the Lounge and bar areas). The location is really hard to beat, super close to everything.

The cleanliness wasn’t 100%. There was hair and old contact lenses in the toilet (would hope that could be flushed/wiped away before anyone checks in). And some nooks and tight areas were clearly not wiped down for a while. No (working) outlets by the bed. Pillows are very flat. The water temp was hard to manage (water leaned towards scalding and was slow to regulate). We came back late after everything closed. Needed bottled water but we were told the hotel was sold out? Very surprising and verging on unacceptable. The water fountain in the basement isn’t a solution.

Die Klimaanlage kühlte das Zimmer nicht wirklich stark herunter. Aber so schlimm war das nicht.

The location is great, and the building has a nice old-school vibe. The decor is cool and the bed very comfortable. The tiles in the bathroom were pretty. there was a hairdryer and plenty of shampoo/conditioner.

They take the old-school thing so seriously that there is no fridge in the room, no coffee/tea supplies or teapot, the coffee shop on site opens when they feel like it, the lights are so dim (15 watts) you can't read or work in the tiny rooms, nor in the shared space downstairs, which is kept at a cave-like darkness to stay with the vibe. When the desk gave me my key I opened the door onto another couple in bed (in the middle of the day). The next room they sent me to barely had room to walk around the bed or work, and the window looked out onto the airshaft. Not inspiring for a weeks' stay and the money paid. In the bathroom, while there is liquid hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, the bottles were broken and there was no lotion, a staple in any business hotel. When the staff cleaned the room, they took the towels but didn't leave fresh ones until we asked.

If you’re looking for a place that feels like a frat house room and bathroom, this is it. I stayed here while taking my daughter and her friends through Chicago on the way to Michigan. The lobby and bars were fine, and I was even able to nap after my red-eye flight. But once I got to my room, the experience changed completely. The hallways felt run-down, and the room was disappointing. There was no bathroom exhaust fan, so the steam caused the ceiling paint to crack, and I noticed mold on the bathroom and shower tile. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Dirty and old; the rooms smell of cigarettes and marijuana; there is no TV; the bathroom is extremely small and lacks hand towels; the elevator is old and "scary."

The receptionist was rude and impatient, even after we explained that we didn't speak English very well. We were also charged more than the amount stated in our booking, and because the explanation was unclear, we didn't understand what we were being charged for. The poor communication only made the situation more confusing. I expected more empathy, patience, and clearer communication from someone working at a hostel that regularly welcomes international guests.

In our original room, there was mold all over the bathroom and AC when we pointed it out to the staff, we were told, there is nothing they can do and that they are booked out. And suddenly when we got impatient and asked to see Management or someone that could approve of a Room change, there was a room free... It was kinda annoying but okey. The second room was better but the Windows were extremely poorly isolated and due to that the temps were quite annoying and the Sound of the streets were very loud.

The shower curtain has mold, and the shower is too small compared to Freehand Los Angeles.

The rooms are an older build. Also they charged me $40 for no reason at the end of my stay.

My third stay, and as always the staff are friendly. I love the comfort of the rooms, they are cozy, with a nice little desk and of course the bar and cafe are great.

Toilet was running, maintence couldn't fix it. I had to turn the water off between flushes. Shower drain had someone else's hair in it, took them more than 24 hours to clean it. Nobody ever cleaned the room despite putting out the service sign. Also it got expensive.

Culture shock for my wife and I, I should have sprung for a well-known Hotel. The room we had consisted of 4 bunk style beds, no TV, shampoo, soap or any other amenities. Very dark atmosphere too. It's hit or miss with the staff as far as attitude. Extra fees for the city, no free breakfast. Am I spoiled or what? Oh, I can't leave out the musty smell.

No AC for the entire stay, our room was 85 degrees inside and felt like a sauna. Our Ac wall unit had blue coolant coming down the wall and the light was red and would not work. They said they sent someone to look at it and couldn't figure it out. I asked to move rooms and they said they were unable to do that due to being fully booked. I asked if we could at least have a fan and they said they were limited on resources. They did say that they would compensate me for my stay, and that I needed to reach out to booking.com to receive my refund. When I reached out to booking.com they said that the hotel denied any compensation. I looked this up on Google reviews, and the no AC, and not compensating people back on their stay is a regular occurrence at this hotel. I am going to report this hotel, for not providing AC in a hotel or apartment building in the summer is illegal in Chicago.
