Overall stay was ok - the location was main reason for booking - my only concern waa the cook breakfast was cold - it was cooked fresh but the heat plates were not keeping the food hot.

The breakfast was good. The bathroom was a bit dilapidated. I had trouble getting the hand wash to work. It was screwed on the wall like bodged job and the dispenser was very difficult to get any soap out of. Could do with a jug of water in the room. I didn't use the tea and coffee facilities. I would have liked some water

The bathroom needs a major update! The toilet lid broke off during our stay, there were broken tiles and its extremely cramp between the toilet and basin.

The hotel is really dated, smells of damp in corridors and we paid a really high price due to reading festival - the photos on the website are deceiving. But the hotel staff and breakfast was very good

Average food, shower leaked on to bathroom floor, beds not up to modern standards, housekeeping ineffective. Sheets and towels have been stored after laundry or, they don't use a decent laundry detergent. Very tired decor and carpets faded and worn in place's

Rooms are terrible and need a revamp to be charging that much. Premier inn rooms are nicer than these rooms. The room smelt weird, toilet was stained and didnt flush well. There was annoying beep alarm everytime you opened the door. Breakfast wasnt much better, stale bread and no hash browns.

We used the hotel on a room only basis as we were going to a 3 day festival at Newbury. The room was quiet as we had requested, I made a mistake with the booking but the staff quickly changed it for us when I telephoned.

Only minor faults in room 52, a broken window catch. The sink tap leaked onto work surface. The reception was unmanned sometimes with a note saying on Fire walk, although this did give a sense of security in the heatwave high fire risk time.

Great location with ample parking. Professional and helpful staff. Bedding and towels were clean and decent quality. Overall, room was comfortable.

There was quite a strong, not great, smell on the corridor and a bit into the room - my room was near the kitchens and so it was a bit of that and carpet cleaner / bleach, perhaps smoking and something else. I kept window open throughout and room was okay.

The hotel is very dated. The room smelled very unpleasant although it was clean. We paid for the deluxe room. The deco was very dated. Bedside small lights did not work. The shower was cold in the morning. In the bar area the outdoor furniture was broken.

Kids menu although advertised wasn't available. Dinner menu was extremely limited. The one on the website was much more extensive. Menu was the main reason we booked. Outside tables were surrounded by dog ends. Table we sat at had at least 50. Fried breakfast items were cold. Music channels on the TV did not work.

The room had good amenities but need updating, as do the main hotel areas. Wi-fi was freely available. Breakfast was good and well-cooked but would improve with more choices, eg. fresh fruit and a coffee machine giving different styles rather than just instant coffee. The staff we interacted with were attentive and friendly. Despite being on a very busy road we were not troubled by traffic noise.

With this extreme heat the single beds had a 10.5tog duvet folded over which made it 21tog! Which was put into a double size duvet cover which would not stay on the bed. The bedside light didn't work..there was a bad smell of old water from the bathroom. The radiator outside our door was redone constant. The saving grace were the staff...getting to our room the condition of the corridor was very poor...in our opinion the hotel was not ready to be fully opened.

It was convenient for what I needed to do in Reading. Good location close to M4 To try to help mitigate the extreme heat of a heatwave, in an older hotel with no climate control, they had at least thought to put a fan in the room

The executive rooms were not worth the money - uncomfortable, in bad state of repair and while there was a coffee machine, the necessary capsules were not replaced each day

Our stay started off on the wrong foot, we arrived at about 5pm only to be told our room was not ready and we had to wait 20 minutes. Being fair after asking we were supplied with vouchers to go and get a drink at the bar. When we got to the room its was HOT, there was a fan supplied but it made more noise than a construction site. Closing the curtains to keep the sun out..... Are you ready....... splats of blood (pictures attached). back down to reception and we were later allocated another room but if you can rate disgusting from 1 -10 this is a 10 Also be careful where you walk as the carpet is threadbare

1.The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. 2.The room was basic, but clean and there was plenty of draw storage space. 3.The towels were nice and fluffy and the shower was powerful. 4.There was an iron and ironing board in wardrobe, very handy, if needed. 5.The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice.

1. Insufficient milk left with the tea and coffee making facilities, had to request more. 2. The mirror over dressing table was too high to use when seated and not centrally positioned. 3. An additional table light is needed for the dressing table. 4. A door stop in bathroom positioned to stop the door hitting the toilet pan, but very dangerous for anyone using the toilet as you can so easily forget it's there and step on it.

Food was good, no children's menu for dinner but staff tried to offer accommodations. Fan provided in room, with modern TV.

Had to wait 1.5 hours after check-in time to access the room. Two rooms in our party, same price paid, one on the upper floor one on the lower, of very different standards. Ours on the lower floor was very tired and dated; a broken light fitting in the entrance way and shower not large enough to stand in even though I am only of average height. The room was also not very clean, the sheets were clean, but there was a cotton pad on the floor, did not appear to have been hoovered as there was also hair and crumbs. Would not stay again unless I could be guaranteed a more modern room on the upper floor.

My family who stayed in a different room did not have their room ready when we checked after 5 when it should’ve been done by 3, the room they were in had blood in the curtains and chairs not only is it a biohazard it’s just disgusting.

No-one was ever at the front desk, the room was dirty (carpet covered in stains, shower curtain was orange, random red stain on bathroom floor, grouting was orange etc.) and room was hot, there was barely any hot water, room was dated and not like any of the photos, bed was uncomfortable.

The reception and bar staff were excellent, the room was clean and quiet.

The staff were the highlight of this hotel stay. All were extremely welcoming and friendly and attentive. Additionally the breakfast was of excellent quality.

The room was very dated, and some areas of the hotel would benefit from an upgrade.

No fridge in rooms, it was a boiling hot day and we wanted to refrigerate some bottles of water. Room 84 had a very dirty shower tray, a shower door which had a gap and didn’t close properly, sink taps were loose, shelf in wardrobe was full of dust, and the bedroom furniture looked and felt as if it was very very old.

It was clear that it had been wiped over but there was pi k mould everywhere, the shower curtain should just be replaced, cobwebs in the bathroom window, tiles had soap/water marks. The bath was also not very big, for the size of the room could get a decent size bath in there. Mirrors and edges had built up dust that hadn't been wiped properly The whole room was quite dated but the worst part was the bathroom

Nice easy check in, but then it all went downhill.

The room may have been considered decent in the 1970s, but I have never stayed anywhere quite like this before. I was allocated a ground-floor room, and for the amount paid, it was extremely disappointing. The furniture was old and worn, the carpet looked as though it dated back to the 1980s, and there were stains on the radiator. There was no air conditioning, no fan provided, and no room service available. The bathroom was particularly poor. It was very cramped, making it difficult to sit comfortably on the toilet, and the ceiling was so low that my head actually touched it while showering. Only one towel was provided. Other basic amenities were also missing, including a fridge and complimentary bottled water. To make matters worse, the television had no sound. Overall, the room felt tired, neglected, and nowhere near the standard I would expect for the price paid.
