Location, Bakewell is a lovely place
We were in the annex so had to cross the main road on a corner to get to the hotel for breakfast each morning. The car park was always full and we were lucky to get a space. The room was nice but small for the price paid.
Lovely and good breakfast
The room was very warm and small, we had a cot in there for our baby so had very little space
Very homely, comfortable, quirky, clean, lovely building. Very friendly and professional team, great food and plenty of choices, excellent value for money, loved all of it
Nothing to dislike or be unhappy about

Room was very comfortable. The breakfast was first rate. We liked the lay out of the dining room, allowing a sense of privacy whilst not being in a booth.
The room was quite hot,but we didn’t want to open a big window as we were on ground floor.
Excellent location and superb staff, the friendliest bunch of people! The hotel is old, as expected but has a lot of charm!
It’s on quite a busy road/roundabout so can get noisy if your room is on the front or side. We knew this in advance so didn’t take an away from a great stay, just worth noting. Given the age of the hotel, you expect it to be rustic in places, it was clean and tidy in general but not totally pristine due to the face it is old. Again, didn’t take away from it being a wonderful place to stay.
Great location and the food was amazing
Parking was a challenge and crossing the road to get to the main hotel but that wasn’t too much of an issue
Great location. Good breakfast brought out hot to order from their menu. There was on site free parking.
Great central location, although parking at the hotel limited a good link for cheap parking at the Bridge , lovely decor ,lounge and bar areas, restaurant is fabbboth in decor, service and food
We stayed in the mews across the road which was a pain as it was raining so when going between our room and tge main hotel was a shame as having to take a brolly etc
room, breakfast, bar, location
Very friendly, great Location comfortable hotel definitely stopped there again
Everything about the place was just very good
Reakfast, individually cooked to order - proper field mushtprooms.
Windows hard to open.
Beautiful location and pretty village
Room a little small
Each room was bespoke and interesting. The room had lovely furniture. The room was quiet.
would have preferred the windows to be able to be opened a little further but understand safety and regulations. Breakfast was additional. Checkout should be an hour later....
Charming room in a beautiful hotel. Truly lovely, friendly & professional staff.
I stayed at The Rutland Arms for six nights and overall had a pleasant stay. The location is excellent for exploring Bakewell and the surrounding Peak District, and the hotel itself has plenty of character. My room was located in the building across the road from the main hotel. The room was comfortable overall, although it could become quite warm and stuffy, which was probably the main downside of my stay. Breakfast was generally very good, particularly when I went earlier in the morning. On a couple of later mornings, however, the portions and presentation felt a little less consistent. This may simply have been because I arrived closer to the end of breakfast service. As I was staying for six nights, a small gesture or recognition of the longer stay would have been a nice touch, although I appreciate that this may not be standard practice. Overall, a good and characterful place to stay in Bakewell, with a great location and enjoyable breakfasts. There are a few areas that could be improved, but I had a positive experience overall.

Clean
Small airless room, very hot with no air con in a separate building to the hotel. We had to open windows and was kept awake by road noise and fan The sink in the en suite was only a hand wash size. Reception unmanned or very busy , too many large wet dogs in reception area . We checked out a day early - very disappointed and would not recommend Poor value for money

Excellent breakfast in a remarkable room
No complaints
Service , staff friendliness, breakfast, Room cleanliness.
Room was warm, being able to open the windows wide and having a fan in the room as standard helped.
Athough we had a short stay in the Ruthland Arms Hotel, we loved it. It was a perfect base to explore the surroundings, the Chatsworth House. The hotel has a very beautiful interior, we loved the dining area as well. Highly recommend to have your breakfast and dinner in the hotel, it was delicious.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was very clean. Food was very good.
The room was incredibly warm, overbearing at times. A Dyson fan would have been helpful and would have made it more comfortable. Not a lot of parking, had to park in the local car parks which were a little expensive.
Loved the character, location was great
I have always wanted to stay in this hotel and it didn't disappoint. The historic building is beautiful inside and out with cheery approachable staff and absolutely exquisite food. Our room was supremely comfortable and breakfast was utter perfection. Zero imperfections at the Rutland Arms Hotel Bakewell.
Leaving.
Location perfect. Very cosy, got everything you need.. Food in the restaurant was very good….
location in Bakewell perfect location within Peak District perfect
Unfortunately room on 2nd floor in main building was hot but given the exceptional hot weather we have had that was to be expected
Traffic noise in our room, but that is due to the central location.
Well located and fabulous decor and atmosphere. The staff were lovely and the breakfast the nicest hotel breakfast I’ve had in years. Cooked to order and full of flavour. We will definitely be going back.
Nothing.
Excellent location
Location
Room was hot, little ventilation possible, bed passable, water pressure in shower unacceptably low, in fact awful!
We had a nice room overlooking the gardens. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the restaurant, bar and patio, and the staff were helpful.
Unfortunately there was inadecuate preparation for the heatwave we experienced, with no air conditioning or ceiling fans in the bedrooms, and only a tiny desktop fan for 2 people sharing.
Great location great staff wonderful breakfast
Small room Lots of stairs
Good location.
We stayed in the deluxe suite: Traffic noise in the room. No fridge or mini bar. Breakfast took too long, 1 guy serving lots of tables looked short staffed. Got charged an extra £15 for bringing our puppy.
Only staff we encountered was the Receptionist who both checked us in and out - she was lovely and informative. The decor of the hotel and bedrooms was very stylish
Our room in the stable block (304) although very nicely decorated , seemed cluttered with too much stuff! Desk was impossible to use due to too many items on it. Room was very small and hot. Bed was very uncomfortable with very thin pillows. Not worth its price tag! (£257.00)
Location,clean,friendly staff.Food excellant.Just cannot fault it.We absolutly love it.Were returning in November.
Nothing loved everthing.
Parking not so good, not enough spaces. Lack of air con
Central location, limited but on site parking. Breakfast was tasty. Bathroom was fab. Room was large and comfy.
Taking nacgs to top floor but help was offered!
The staff could not do enough for you and all looked like they enjoyed their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble

Dirty pillowcase, dirty cups and teaspoon and pubic hairs in the bath. Window stuck shut, dirty black mould on mastic round the bath. Outside tables filthy.
Everything
Nothing to dislike
Exceptional custoner service. I was there to celebrate my wedding. The staff could not do enough to ensure we had the best stay
Lovely staff, perfect location.
Central location.
I thought the quality of food was poor (for the prices).
Beautiful inside, the room we had felt calm and was very comfortable to stay in. There was a great choice at breakfast and food was fresh and tasty. Location was very good and great for a base to get to other places. Lovely historical building in the main hotel area very airy and interesting decor . I would like to mention Dave who was on reception when we checked in. He was courteous, helpful and gave us extra information when we needed it. He was approachable and it came across that he enjoys his job.
We had a evening meal and I have to be dairy free. I did not feel there was enough choices on the menu for my dietry needs . In fact I would say it was poor which was dissappointing as the breakfast was so good.
Lovely hotel and staff very friendly.
Everything was good
Lovely place to stay in Bakewell very central
Bed was a bit small for me in the cosy room more down to me being 6’2 room was small but nice only thing I would ask is they upgrade the small fan that was in the room up to a more modern cooling style fan
Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.
Not enough carparking spaces. My comment about the room not being quiet enough was nothing to do with the hotel. One of the guests had a new car and a group of his friends were making him rev the engine for fun - woke me up.
Excellently located in beautiful Bakewell. Staff are super. Dining room is lovely and breakfast was nice enough but certain things could be improved. (Poor quality yoghurts / not fresh bread)
Parts of the property and room we stayed in are beginning to look a little grubby. Our carpet was badly stained and the fabric around the top of the 4 poster bed badly needed washing. For the amount we paid, I must admit I expected more.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and good food and bar. Amazing location.
Mattress was too firm for my personal preference
Beautiful Hotel right in the middle of Bakewell

Parking on site and in the center of town.
Basically this is two hotels: one is what you see on the pictures and this one is a 3 star hotel with charm, the other is what we got because we reserved using booking.com. This second party of the hotel is across the street and looks like it is a converted stables. It matches the standard of a 1 star motel. Rooms are small and hot, windows open to a parking area and workshop and the street beyond. To get to breakfast you have to cross the street where cars are stopping around fast. Several times we felt that were going to hit us. All this for a pretty high price.
Beautifully furnished

We liked the location of the hotel, the room was as nice, the staff were friendly
We stayed in the Cavendish room, the room has too much furniture in it, if they got rid of the 2 chairs and the writing desk, put a sofa in and moved the tv it would be a lot better and give more room.
Clean. Good location. Staff friendly.
Crossing the road to annex.
The staff were so polite and helpful. The food from our evening meal to breakfast was amazing ❤️ The room was just devine with the four poster bed and furniture. . This visit was for our 1st anniversary and our first adventure into the Peak District. You guys and girls didn't disappoint, we were so impressed. Thank you very much for making it special. We will be back again soon ❤️ x

Staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable relaxed surroundings Great food Comfortable beds and lovely bathroom products
It was warm when there , wish we could have opened the windows a little more for air in the room. But understand it’s an old building. We had a fan in the room which was needed.
Old and friendly
No air con but normally I don’t think it would be a problem
The location.
All was good.
Was a lovely location and excellent rooms
Overall, we had a lovely stay and the hotel itself is beautiful. The staff were all incredibly friendly and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our visit. We stayed in the Jane Austen room, which was full of lovely historic memorabilia and really added to the character of the stay—although I must admit the portrait of Jane Austen was a little spooky when trying to get to sleep! The bed was very comfortable and, although our room was at the front of the hotel and a little noisy at times, that's not really something the hotel can control. The only aspect that let the experience down was the breakfast, especially considering we paid over £300 for one night. We were invited to help ourselves to the continental selection while waiting for our cooked breakfast order to be taken, but the continental offering was quite limited—just plain and chocolate croissants, some basic fruit, cereal and pots of yoghurt. Compared to other hotels in this price range, it felt rather underwhelming, so we didn't bother helping ourselves. Service at breakfast was also a little disorganised. We both ordered tea and orange juice. Over 10 minutes later, our drinks arrived as a pot of tea and a coffee. We explained we'd only ordered tea but were happy to share the pot. The orange juice never arrived, so I asked again and only one glass was brought over instead of two. The cooked breakfast itself was nicely presented but quite small: one sausage, one piece of rather fatty bacon, a flat mushroom, beans and black pudding. The sausage was fairly tasteless, although the rest was enjoyable. It also would have been much nicer if toast had been included as standard. Overall, it's a lovely hotel with excellent staff and lots of character, but for the price paid I was expecting a breakfast experience that matched the quality of the accommodation. I've stayed in less expensive hotels that offered a much more generous breakfast selection.
Special mention: David was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble when I checked in. Great customer service. The hotel decor was gorgeous and the location in Bakewell was perfect. Breakfast was delicious.

were placed in the building across the road
The property was cosy and quirky. Very clean. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Felt well looked after. So glad we pick here . 100% recommend.
Absolutely everything! The hotel is so beautifully decorated and the food and staff both brilliant. Special thanks to Clare on reception who is always so lovely and helpful with everything to make your stay even better.
Polite happy and helpful staff. Greatly positioned for the town. The dinner was fabulous, so hot, fresh and cooked to a fine dining standard.
Breakfast was a little disappointing. Limited variety of cereals. Scrambled eggs could be less cooked. Slow serving. The above is purely feedback to improve, standard set but such a great dinner and did not lessen the happy staff and great stay.
Location perfect for our three night visit to the area. Lovely comfortable room. All guest areas well maintained and taken care by the team on site
Small issue getting parked - but team made it very clear prior to our stay alternatives. It’s not something you can easily change given central location
Fabulous location. Great room - very clean. Amazing breakfast. Lovely, lovely, lovely staff! We loved it there

In excellent condition
Character; good public rooms; good parking; good central location.
The WiFi and 4G connectivity in the annex was frankly appalling.
Location
Noisy, no lifts, no walk in showers they say
Location, cleanliness and comfort and we were given a ground floor room which we requested ahead of the stay.
No fridge for insulin, no air con 32 degree weather the fan did nothing and unable to open window. Limited parking only 1 disabled bay but we managed to get a space. Had to walk over busy road for fresh milk so used the UHT. If a mini fridge was in the room the milk could be stored there. 2 bottles of water was provided would have been a nice touch if they were cold but they were warm as not in a fridge. No signal in the room = no Wi-Fi.
Comfortable and spacious room, thoughtful lighting in bathroom, well above average food in restaurant, good real ale and lovely decor throughout. Perfect location of hotel in lovely place.
Nothing really but you need to be aware that the car park is across the road from the hotel not at the rear!
The staff were very friendly and helpful
The rooms were quite hot even with a fan. I wouldn't want to stay in a heatwave
Bedroom too hot
The location, the staff and the restaurant
The location is excellent and the staff are superb.
Not up to expectations cereal not we wanted yogurts low only oranges in fruit bowl pastries not much Choice this was at 8.30
Grateful to the male receptionist who understood why a wonan travelling alone in a hear wave might not want the allocated ground floor room with casement windows open to passers-by. Very odd that it had been booked for a single woman really ...
Being allocated a dark ground floor room with windows that opened wide enough to allow passers by to slip in.
Beautiful building, decor and historic memorabilia was superb!
Ground floor room window wasn’t fully sealed when closed, as if attempts had been made to force open from outside! Forgot to mention to front desk on departure. Everything was fantastic generally.
Lovely period property in a central location
Nothing
Staff, Dining Room, Food and Service Convenience of position
Room 409 Small and so hot and stuffy. Windows wide all night and fan going full speed. Only way to reduce temp was to wedge door open. Still bad sleep. Staff tried to relocate but no. Bathroom basin broken and far too small, not proper basin for face washing.
Great location - very central - pleasant restaurant
No air conditioning in the rooms, which were unbearable in a heatwave. The summer heatwaves are only going to get worse… they need to deal with it and get air conditioning installed. Even when it cooled down outside, the room was unbearable
Perfect location. Lovely room. Lovely decor. Great staff. Couldn’t fault anything
Nothing.
Comfy room, wonderful staff, great location, loved the dining room & their Sunday roast and wonderful breakfast
It was lovely neat and tidy staff fantastic
Nothing everything lovely
It was in a good position. The staff were very helpful. The decor was nice.
The room was small, on the second floor and the window did not open. It was hot, stuffy and unpleasant. The breakfast was mediocre- nasty bread and low fat yoghurt. There was no parking. Given the price it was very disappointing.
Food was great. The rooms were comfortable. Management was very helpful. One of the housekeepers helped us locate some items in the town we needed. Great overall.
The internet connection to the room failed. Not really the hotel's fault, but it did hamper some things we needed to get completed for our trip.
Location beautiful restaurant and rooms
Nothing
Service and food was really good, couldn't fault it Central location in Bakewell is busy because it is popular
The car park is very small due to it's location and might be a problem if the hotel is full
room good,breakfast good,location excellent.
limited parking,no lift.
Fab location . Very chilled
Location in the centre was good, alot of traffic not easy crossing the road by the hotel
Too many stairs to the second floor, 37, ver6 steep.
De kamer, het personeel, de lokatie en het eten. Leuke themakamers

The Location is good. The breakfast is delicious and has many choices.
The WiFi is very weak and unstable.
Room was amazing, great food options throughout the day. Amazing place to relax, and very close to transportation for Chatsworth House if that what brings you here.
