Beautiful room. Very smart modern environment and friendly staff. The food was exceptional. Loved it!
Nothing! Wish we’d stayed longer!
The quaintness and relaxed atmosphere
Warm welcome friendly staff
Shame parking couldn’t be organised with the pub across the road!
Very comfortable stay! The room was cosy and clean. Lovely area to spend a weekend and the pub food was excellent. All the staff very helpful and friendly.
Just the step in our room leading from the bathroom to the bed with a wardrobe in front of it was a bit dangerous at night! I think it would benefit from a small auto light just above the step maybe as could be potential trip risk!
Excellent location. Really enjoyed staying there. Excellent staff.
Nothing
Great location for walking Pendle Hill & surrounding area & I had the best steak I've had in a long time after our day on the hill with a generous breakfast the next morning, staff were welcoming & efficient, room was modern & clean.
Car Park has limited space but we were lucky enough to get one, others may not be so fortunate, but there is a large public carpark a short walk away, so only a small issue.
Lovely staff and food was great. Beautiful area.
Attentive staff. Excellent food. An excellent pub B&B
No hot water on the first night's stay. The first morning breakfast was very poor qualiy, bacon and black pudding pre cooked, dry and inedible. The shower screen was in a poor state of repair and causef the bathroom floor to get very wet and slippy. However, Luke the assistant manager to his credit, ensured the repairs to the water heater were done and our breakfast the second day was freshly cooked. The shower was fixed by Luke, he was an excellent ambassador for the Barley Mow. We are would not have thought about returning to the Barley Mow again if it hadn't been for Luke and his actions and the customer focus he displayed
Quaint dog friendly pub
Not much parking and the village was really busy . Parked in a local car park
Welcoming
Heavy bedroom door slamming shut Frightened trap fingers
Loved the quirkiness and location. The staff were awesome. Great food
Nice atmosphere,I wanted a bath and was moved to a different room with a bath which was lovely
Nothing, everything was lovely
The location in the village of Barley is fab, as it is close to Pendle Hill, we have eaten here a few times but never stayed this time we thought we would stay for the night.
When we arrived we were greeted by a young man who showed us to our room, the hoover had been left out on the corridor and there seemed to be a stagnant smell - when I looked around our room I said to my partner this room has not been hoovered (room 6) at the side of the wardrobe there looked like plastic wrapping and clumps of dust on the carpet, the blinds need cleaning as there is dust on them, it felt like it hadn’t had a good dusting for a few weeks, bottles of water a nice touch along with tea and coffee making facilities, a fan would have been nice in the room, breakfast was ok - black pudding/bacon too hard looked like it had been left on a warming plate but for too long
Fantastic old style inn in a lovely picturesque Ribble Valley village.
Very, very minor issue with parking spaces at the property but there is nearby roadside parking.
Staff were lovely and very accomodating
Parking was a little difficult locally but this did not affect my stay
The breakfast was good for those who have a cooked breakfast. It would have been nice if the continental included some fruit, natural yoghurt etc
Lovely stone work in bedroom friendly staff. Best scrambled eggs
Parking on a very busy narrow road
Nice friendly staff
Great Stay my little dog and I were welcomed and given early access to a really well appointed room. Spotlessly Clean. Bedding and towels of a good quality. Breakfast was plentiful and even my doggie got a sausage :-) I've stayed before and will stay again. Staff are warm and welcoming they go the extra mile, the food is of a very high standard and there is a very nice selection of wines ( if you are into wine) Its a great location with good walks nearby, access to Pendle Hill and plenty to do.
The Car Park is very tiny - first come first served but nearby 24 hour car park is only £3 for the 24 hour period. It was VERY HOT a fan in the room would have been helpful. There was nothing i didn't like that's why i keep returning
Great location. Friendly welcoming staff. Really beautiful rooms and exceptional breakfast.

Breakfast was very good full English but the bacon was American style the staff were friendly and attentive and the bar was good as well
Phone coverage was none existent until you logged onto the hotel wifi
Always great stay / staff
The area was absolutely stunning. The food in the pub was excellent and the staff were attentive and friendly. So much more to explore in the area too.
Nothing really.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Food = amazing! Great value. Lovely room with the most comfortable bed.
Great location and friendly staff, lovely clean room and good food
Nothing
Beautiful location, very friendly staff and great food
The bedrooms - hadn’t been cleaned. Looked as though beds made but nothing else. Carpets not vacuumed and toilet not clean
The food for dinner is amazing and the reason we booked because too far from home just to travel to eat.
Was disappointed in breakfast. After such an amazing evening meal it was mediocre. Parking not great.
The two girls on arrival Georgia and Isabel were super friendly and helpful and continued with the great service throughout Dinner service, all staff were very friendly and helpful a real credit to the establishment . Ideal location for walking up Pendle hill.
Didn’t find anything we weren’t happy with.
Really nice place, good breakfast included, nice "busy village pub" atmosphere ice room and good for dog.
Not a big issue but if you book a standard double room and get room 3 it is above the kitchen area so is warm and next door to the kitchen extractor plant room which is very noisy until food service ends (9:00 pm when we stayed) after that some noise from the bar below but nothing intrusive. That said, if you are down in the bar or out walking that isn't a problem!. Also, the car park has been overtaken by benches and tables in part so parking is available but, whilst we managed to get a space don't be disappointed if there isn't room....you can park in the village (with some restricted areas) although it might be tight immediately around the hotel...
Great staff, flexible and helpful
Great little pub, food was delicious. Breakfast is also really good.
Clean and comfortable room. Nice shower. Delicious food. Lovely village location
Our room was a bit small for a double
Stayed here before, Very nice. Will come back again
Very difficult to find a parking space at times
Breakfast was brilliant. Room was cosy and warm.
It is right at the foot of Pendle Hill and in what looks like a historic building itself. The room was very comfortable and warm. The staff were friendly. I'd definitely stay again.
Very little could be improved. You can hear the music and chatter from the pub downstairs, but it is an old building, and you're only one level up. Generally, it's very quiet and respectful, and they turn the music off early. Just a couple of litter items found in a corner near the bin in the room, but they could have been easily missed rather than being a sign of negligence.
Lovely room. Delicious breakfast. Great staff. Lovely walks nearby. Excellent place to stay!
Nothing!
This pub is located in a quaint village with a stream running under our window. Birdsongs were amazing and looking at the hills and sheep while eating was very peaceful. And the food was of high quality, delicious and very well presented.
Nothing.
Staff were very friendly. Our evening meal was good
Too little choice for breakfast cereal. No fruit or muesli and no brown bread Music too loud but was turned down when requested
staff were lovely and very helpful. The location is lovely. Food excellent. Really good value for money. Will go again.
A bit worried would get a parking fine as parking is very limited.
Beautiful location, nice bar area and superb breakfast.
Lovely property, cosy
Cosy rustic vibes
Comfy bed. Great food, pleasant and helpful staff
Nothing
Barley Mow is a lovely pub, with lovely rooms and really lovely staff. Although the rooms are directly above the bar, you can't hear anything once you are tucked up! The staff were all really lovely - we had a small issue with our first room and were moved, quickly and smoothly into another room. No problem at all.
The bedroom was a little chilly, but we were offered heaters or blankets. The breakfast, while lovely, was a little smaller than we had been expecting!
Beautiful place to stay , slept with window open listening to the river
Was disappointed we couldn't have breakfast as this was not available until after 8 , with this booked for work this was too late to stay and we had already paid for this.
Somebody’s left over shower gel left in bathroom, grout was grubby and could do with replacing. Some parts of the main bedroom (walls) had marks on them. Could do with a fresh lick of paint. Cobwebs on large wooden light fitting. Main meal in the evening wasn’t the best, cold baked beans at breakfast wasn’t ideal.
The bed was comfortable and the room was generally clean, had a kettle with teas etc. The bathroom seemed newly renovated. The pub/restaurant was hit and miss but probably the better one in the area. The breakfast was enjoyable especially after a walk up the hill to see the sunrise.
There were some damp stains on the wall in my room and the carpet was a bit grubby. The pub was only open until about 8 before they start clearing up and turning the music off which was frustrating as there wasn't much else to do in the area in the evening. The first night the food was nice, but the second night I ordered a festive turkey sandwich which was about as festive as a kick in the teeth (gray meat and cranberry sauce on hard bread), so I complained to the waiter and didn't get as much as an apology. I asked for a coffee after my meal and the waitress said the coffee machine had been cleaned, and for the next half hour stood around doing nothing anyway. Staff were not very attentive in the evening.
We arrived in rain (which continued for our one day stay) and were delighted to find woodburning fires in the main areas. This meant we could curl up with our books and relax. (We did venture out for a soggy stroll and the area is lovely, but bleak in the rain.)
Nothing, staff were very helpful, food was good..... It is an old building which is its charm and why we chose it, but does mean that eg the floors are uneven. Not a criticism at all, but to be considered. We'll be going back!
N/A didn't eat
could hear the bar music in the room
great historic old pub; incredible location. great service from the staff team there.... clean, warm rooms. incredible value for money...
nothing
Cosy vibe with real fires, low ceilings and Kingston Press cider on tap! The shower and bath were lovely. Food was high quality and well presented, fabulous breakfast. Bed comfortable and area very quiet at night. It’s also right next to Pendle Hill walking routines. Sadly, we couldn’t partake in them due to injury, but we made the most of the cosy accommodation instead. Of course the fact the area is associated with ‘witches’ does not mean that there is/was any real magic associated with the area … certainly persecution … however, the area felt thick with atmosphere in a ‘haunted’ way and we couldn’t help but wonder if the long nails embedded into the wooden beams in room 2 had been placed deliberately to ward off evil spirits?
Nothing.

The staff as a main were welcoming and attentive, particularly in the restaurant.
Very poor value for money, cheap furnishings poorly kept room, noisy boiler room next to room 3. £165 for the night is very expensive and photos not representative of reality. Step in the room unsafe and no clear visual and illuminated markings. Overall very disappointed.
Very relaxing stay, service-minded personnel. Lovely friendly relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly, lots of locals drop in to say hello. Fantastic location if you're visiting to walk around the forest of Bowland. Highly recommended the Barley Mow,make it your base if your visiting the area.
Breakfast was ok,typical for the area, would have liked the option of whole fresh fruit, granola and perhaps kefir style yoghurts. overnight oats maybe! Better and more flavourful vegetarian options needed on the menu.
Food was amazing, staff were friendly and knowledgeable, room was clean and cozy, shower and bath were great

The room was a good size and the bed was comfy. The breakfast was also nice. The location was good.
We didn’t manage to get a drink at the bar once in the 3 nights we stayed as it all seemed to close up around 9pm every night. We had been looking forward to coming back to the bar after our days of visiting relatives and relaxing with a drink. Also parking space was very tight.
Atmosphere, food and staff.
Nothing.
Breakfast was of a very high standard. Pub was cosy. Rooms beautiful and clean. staff very friendly and helpful. Was a wonderful Christmas eve.
Nothing, I would stay again in a heartbeat.
It has a very cosy feel about it with the stone walls, beams and fires. The food was excellent (Evening meal and breakfast) and the room was modern and comfy
I love the area very much and it's a lovely cosy pub for eating. Breakfast was lovely and we managed to park right outside the door.
My room was chilly and the staff didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. Eventually we got their attention and asked for the dessert menu only to be told that they had stopped serving and there was no chance of dessert.
Stunning location, well designed rooms, great food.
Everything was fabulous.
Όλα ηταν τέλεια! Το προσωπικό πολύ φιλικό και ευδιαθετο! Η κοπέλα στο πρωινό ηταν πολύ χαρούμενη και ευδιαθετη!
Everything really nice location food was amazing. Carpark was a bit tight
Carpark situation was not ideal for overnight guests
Lokalt
Very friendly staff abs comfortable
It was all fabulous
Evening dinner was great - food was superb. Breakfast good too. Cosy pub with decent rooms.
Just felt the bathrooms were a little dated/ shower over the bath not so good.
Excellent location for walking up pendle hill. Lovely comfy bed
The location to everything was perfect, the bed amazing, the room was really nice. Breakfast spot on. Staff was really nice
You could hear lots of noise at night, I assume toilet systems and at one point we even heard the nextdoors phone vibrating on their sideboard. But obviously I wouldn't expect deadly silence in a hotel but hearing the neighbours fighting to get in their door at 1am and other noise that woke us on multiple occasions during the night.
Generally I did like the place!:) The pub was very cosy, there was a parking space to leave the car, room was spacious, overlooking the little river - loved the sound of it behind the window!:) Breakfast was nice too, and served from 8-10:30, nice to have that wide time range avaiable.
Would be nice to have some soap at the washbasin - it's a bit troublesome to take the soap from the shower gel dispenser over the bath tube every time you wanna wash your hands... And there was no soap whatsoever... bit unusual... Also I'd put a table lamp at the table, would be useful to have one there.
Great location and atmosphere
Some areas could be cleaner. Shower, toilets and floors
Breakfast was fine Good location
TV in R6 not working - could only switch on at main (not remote) & receive only one channel. Informed duty manager on tuesday evening but no action taken
Room was.very comfortable and clean, the staff are amazing and can't do enough for you. Food was incredible
Parking is very hit and miss unfortunately.
Nice bar /eating areas. Food was excellent
Walls a little thin. Can hear tv from adjacent rooms. Could do with new bedding as duvet cover had multiple holes.
Friendly staff
Very little parking in an area where it is residential only
Lovely feel. Great setting. Very clean and well kept.
The shower screen in the bathroom wasn’t fit for purpose.
Good location, friendly staff.
Limited parking with none reserved for guests, my husband had to wait almost 30 mins for a space as visitors are not permitted to park on the road (reserved for locals) and there were no overnight parking options available. For the price of the hotel this is quite bad. I also noted that my husband paid £20 more for his room which was a little less nice and he stayed solo, there was no reduction even to reflect that there was only one breakfast required instead of two.
