Number 114 bedroom and bathroom very poor layout. Despite bathroom being large, my legs were hitting the sink unit unit when sitting on the toilet - just unnecessarily cramped with ample room to reposition the sink. Bedroom similar very poor layout. Despite large room, the make up area for my wife was positioned in a corner and very cramped. She had to sit on the bed to use it, no stool provided. Large TV positioned well away from the beds but with only one chair and table. This area had insufficient lighting for comfortable reading or writing. As a retired interior designer for a large national UK hotel chain I expected better from Holiday Inn.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026The rooms were well proportioned and clean. As were the bar and restaurant areas. Service was friendly and helpful especially at breakfast. Haven't stayed at Holiday Inn Express for years but there were more and better breakfast choices that I remember.
Not that anything can be done about this but there was nowhere to walk to easily and the main access road from the motorway was closed so it was a very roundabout and mildly confusing way of getting access.

No one at the front desk, no phone in the room, no refrigerator. The room at to be clean by a certain time otherwise you missed cleaning. We stayed for 3 nights never got the room cleaned we did self service. Asked for towels towel paper and took tea and coffee from breakfast.

Reviewed Jul 29, 2026Dan, Cameron, Lucy and Kamilla what a team ❤️ Friendly, patient professionals alwayes wearing a beautiful welcoming smile I work for 24/7 rescue room 313 michael mcgarrell 28 July your staff made a week away from home working feel like a holiday Cameron being able to follow my accent was just 🌟 evan with his hearing a fine gentleman r a great actor 😆 either was a joy ro be round polite courteous and perfect balance of friendly ness and professionalism Lucy and kamilla the same allwayes smiling and so welcoming evan when there patience is being tested 😆(I have a thick scotish accent it can have that affect on ppl ) they went above and beyond to assist not only me but everyone I witessed them come into contact with Dan in the man witnessing an attempted robbery being so vigilant was out in no time to protect a customer's van His vigelance and bravery shoukd be rewarded with more than our thanks and attempted gifts he politely turned down A great experience would recommend this particularly holiday inn to my nearest amd dearest thank you for a wonderfully stay i onky hope ypur other branches are half as good and I woukd happily stay there to Thanks again kind greatfull regards Michael mcgarrel 24/7rescue room 313

Reviewed Jul 24, 2026A place that used to be “home” a few years ago when I lived out of the area. Nothing has changed and that’s a good thing. Perfectly clean hotel in good condition and, even though my room was facing the M65, the secondary glazing meant I didn’t hear a thing. Air conditioned room too which worked well. Lovely greeting on arrival from a familiar face and a bar that had enough options ahead of heading out. Loads of on-site parking and good wi-fi. Didn’t manage breakfast the next morning which would have been usual standard HI Express offer.

Noisy location, so couldn't open bedroom window or sit outside bar in warm weather. Breakfast could have had a bit more choice for vegetarians eg mushrooms or sliced cheese. Shower temperature fluctuated during use and knob design can't be used with wet hands as round and slippery.

Dirty marks on side of bed, damage to television no facility to leave feedback or comments. Small self service breakfast area which was cramped and not a lot of seating. Small bar could only buy tin of water or a table sized bottle to take upstairs which was pricey.

It was impersonal in the breakfasting area. There was a television on all the time which no one appeared to be watching. The quilt cover felt very heavy and so we were kept awake.

A muddle over housecleaning. We put ‘do not disturb’ sign on door (first morning) as we went to breakfast. Removed it as we went out for day. Returned to find sign back on door and room not serviced. Puzzling! Lady on Reception Desk mist apologetic but equally mystified.

Reviewed Jun 4, 2026Enjoyed our stay at Hotel a great deal ! Room was spacious with all extras we needed.Everything functioned ok. Great view from our window. Bed very comfortable and we both had good night sleeps. Shower was fine too. With regards to Breakfast great selection, something for all tastes. Large car park so no problems with parking. Well positioned for visiting local attractions also only a few minutes away from Hotel down to Leeds and Liverpool canal for a nice walk !! Staff were fantastic so helpful couldn't fault them. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended to all.
