The staff and the overall hygiene.

The food could've been better. While the adjoining hotels which come at a similar cost have a private beach, this property has a public one which os quite crowded at times. And there was a constant smell of chlorine even in bathroom water.

The staff as usual (this is my 6th visit) were lovely and excellent. The Beach is great - especially for my grandchildren The dinner and breakfast have improved and its always great to have Sri Lankan food made well. The pool was good and it was great to see the crocodiles and the birds again

The Pool table, cue and pool balls were is a pitiful state. Clearly the cues had no tips and people have used them with the metal end and caused damage to the cue ball, which as a result was more like a golf ball.

Fantastic visit for our family, nice bungalows right at the beach side, restaurant serves good breakfast with local and international choices. Also the ala carte menu from the restaurant was nice and had plenty of alternatives for our family of four (including younger children).

The setting of the gardens is really beautiful and the hotel is nearby the beach with good swimming The ecosystem is beautiful ----seeing crocodile, monkeys, squirls, many birds Great swimming pool.

Poor airconditioning, hard to adjust remote control, noisy and blowing to the bed Restaurant was a big disappointment.

Staff did not help when we checked out, we requested support to carry our luggage to our transport vehicle however they ignore our request and did not arrive and we had to carry them all by ourselves.

Personalet i restaurant og rengøring var meget venlige og smilende. Men desværre meget dårlige til engelsk og vi havde derfor svært ved at kommunikere med dem.

Det er ikke oplyst nogen steder at hotellet ligger op af en offentlig strand, hvorfra det er meget larm, blandt andet blev der spillet ekstrem høj musik. Selve hotellet var meget gammelt og slidt. Poolen var beskidt og strandstole var gamle og nussede plastikstole, nogle parasoller havde ikke stof på det var bare et skelet. Vi endte med at rejse før tid, selvom vi mistede penge på det.

The location was fabulous! The ocean view rooms look out over a bay that is the most inviting swimmable water!

The pool was in need of a good clean or maybe a new filtration system.

La struttura è vicinissima all’oceano, in 2 min si raggiunge la spiaggia a piedi. Molto comoda anche la presenza del ristorante, aperto sia a pranzo che a cena. Lo staff è stato gentilissimo e sempre molto disponibile.

Nel complesso non è all’altezza di un hotel 4 stelle, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la pulizia. L’acqua della piscina era molto sporca e unta e gli asciugamani forniti per la piscina e la spiaggia erano in condizioni decisamente scadenti, come si può vedere nella foto allegata. Anche la spiaggia, non è realmente attrezzata: la struttura dispone di soli 6-8 lettini in plastica, alcuni dei quali in condizioni piuttosto rovinate. Il cibo è nella norma, ma nulla di speciale.

The pool was lovely and located right next to a beautiful, pleasant beach. The room was spacious with a large shower. Service around the pool was great, and the prices were reasonable too.

Unfortunately, the food quality was quite poor, both at breakfast and dinner. There seemed to be a wide variety on offer, but most of it was mediocre or simply not tasty.

God beliggenhed lige ved den bedste del af stranden. Pæne værelser med stort lækkert badeværelse.

Poolen var lidt uklart og snavset. Virkede som om rensningsanlægget ikke fungerede ordentligt. Ikke meget at lave i Passikuda, ikke rigtig noget by.

Las instalaciones increíbles y el personal muy atento. Merece completamente el precio que pagas. La piscina al lado del mar brutal. Muy bien ubicado en medio de la playa de Passikudah.

Good Location and a good breakfast

Am ersten Abend gab es a la carte Abendessen. Das war mit Abstand das schlechteste Essen, das wir in Sri Lanka serviert bekommen haben. Glücklicherweise reiste eine größere Reisegruppe an, so dass es ab diesem Zeitpunkt zu jeder Mahlzeit Buffet gab und mit einer größeren Auswahl und besserem Essen. Die angebotenen Bilder bei der Buchung des Hotels stimmen nicht ganz mit der Realität überein.

Hotel je omšelý a neudrzovany.😔. Pomer cena vykon neodpovida!! Snidane velmi skromne. Pokoj byl fajn, ale okoli hotelu by si zaslouzilo vetsi peci. Na hotelu jsme opravdu jen prespali a travili jsme radeji cas jinde.

L’hôtel est bien situé en bord de plage et il est traversé par une rivière ds laquelle on peut observer des crocodiles. La piscine est grande et le personnel qui s’en occupe est très attentionné. Sur la plage, à 2 min à pied il y a le Amaya Beach Hôtel où vous pourrez manger les pieds ds le sable le soir avec de la musique et des belles lumières. Nous avons mangé les deux soirs là bas c’était excellent.

Rapport qualité prix mauvais pour l’hôtel qui demande un net rafraîchissement. Le resto de l’hôtel est aussi situé près de la réception et non du côté de la plage. Aucune vue sur la mer ni de tables installées le soir en bord de plage. C’est également le seul hôtel de notre séjour qui a annulé ma réservation 1 mois avant notre arrivée sous prétexte que la carte renseignée n’était pas valide. Ce qui est totalement FAUX, cette même carte a été utilisée dans tous les autres établissements où nous avons séjourné au Sri Lanka. Les gérants du Resort ont donc annulé la réservation de mes 2 chambres vue sur mer que j’avais initialement bookées à un très bon prix avec les déjeuners inclus en janvier 2026. Vu que tout mon circuit était déjà finalisé et qu’il n’y avait pas d’autres hôtels disponibles à ce moment-là (pleine saison mi-juillet) j’ai du ensuite rebooker fin juin ces deux mêmes chambres mais à un prix bien supérieur et sans les déjeuners. Sur place, comme dédommagement j’ai demandé si les déjeuners pouvaient nous être offerts mais aucun geste commercial n’a été effectué alors qu’ils avaient annulé ma réservation que j’avais faite 6 mois à l’avance à un bon prix avec les déjeuners inclus. Il faut rester juste, si les prix proposés 6 mois à l’avance sont trop faibles il ne faut juste pas pratiquer ces promotions. Il n’y a rien de pire que de voir sa réservation annulée sans raison quelques semaines avant le voyage.

Hotel przy pięknej plaży. Nieco zatłoczona z prawej strony(publiczna) ale w miarę pusta z lewej(sporo hoteli).

Zamarnowany potencjał. Zaniedbany hotel. Obsłudze goście nie przeszkadzają i nie ma tu specjalnego zainteresowania. Jest jeden fajny gość William. Skromne śniadanie. Z innych posiłków nie korzystaliśmy. Duży ale brudny basen w którym kapią sie wrony i gołębie. Zamknięty bar na plaży. Kiepski przy basenie. Pokoje lata świetności mają za sobą. Można by zrobic remont lub obniżyć cenę.

We really enjoyed our stay at Amethyst Resort. It is a wonderful place for a relaxing beach holiday. The resort has a large, beautiful, and well-maintained garden with plenty of trees and flowers. There is a large swimming pool with warm water, and one of the best things is that the beach is just a few steps away from the hotel. The ocean was amazingly warm, and during our stay there were almost no waves. One of the most unique features of the resort is the river nearby, where crocodiles live. The staff kindly helped us spot them, and it became one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. We stayed in a bungalow with a lovely private terrace and a comfortable sofa, perfect for relaxing in the evening. The bathroom was very spacious, and we especially appreciated the wooden drying rack for clothes. The room also had a TV with YouTube access, which was a nice bonus. The food was good. The buffet was not very large, but everything was tasty. On some evenings, dinner was served à la carte instead of a buffet. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Our room was cleaned every day, and complimentary bottled water was provided daily. There are several nice cafés within walking distance of the resort, offering more dining options. Water sports are also available on the beach.

There were a few minor drawbacks. The room amenities included only shampoo and body lotion. The beach loungers are a bit old and located quite far from the water. On weekends, the beach can get crowded. There are some rocks and coral near the shore, so water shoes are recommended. The Wi-Fi worked well, but it required logging in again every time we reconnected. We also experienced a few short power outages during our stay. In addition, the power outlets were located quite far from the bed, which was a little inconvenient. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Amethyst Resort. The beautiful beach, warm ocean, spacious grounds, and genuinely friendly staff make it an excellent choice for a holiday on Sri Lanka's east coast. Highly recommended!

Nagyon tetszett, hogy a part közvetlen közelében van.Mindenki nagyon kedves volt. A reggeli is finom volt, igaz lehetett volna picit bővebb választék... de valószínű mivel szezon elején voltunk, és kevés volt a turista...

Mooi resort, super ruime schone kamers. Elke dag wordt het schoongemaakt, nieuwe handdoeken en beddengoed. SUPER vriendelijke en behulpzaam personeel. Door een infectie aan mijn voet zijn we in plaats van 2 nachten uiteindelijk 4 nachten geweest. Hierdoor niet goed kunnen lopen en in no time stond er een rolstoel. Er werd elke dag door zo goed als iedereen gevraagd hoe het er mee ging. Er werd voor ons mee gezocht naar de krokodillen in de rivier (gevonden!!) Vervoer met tuktuk wordt snel geregeld. Ontbijt was 1 keer buffet, daarna a la carte vanwege dat er minder mensen waren. Buffet was ZEER uitgebreid, vers en goed! A la carte is keuze uit westers of sri lanka ontbijt, beide ook ruim. Ook het eten wat we met roomservice bestelde was goed.

Er is qua dorp weinig te beleven, maar ons doel was rust en strand. Er zijn wel genoeg restaurants in de omgeving om even eruit te gaan. Soms klein beetje taalbarrière, mag voor ons geen naam hebben.

We booked this hotel for two nights hoping to celebrate my birthday peacefully, but it turned into one of the worst experiences of our entire trip. The first disappointment came immediately upon arrival: the photos on Booking look nothing like reality. The hotel presents itself as a cozy seaside getaway, but in reality the ocean is far from the rooms, separated by wire fencing, and the entire place feels neglected, cheap, and depressing rather than relaxing. Instead of a tropical escape, the atmosphere felt closer to an abandoned property desperately trying to look better online than it actually is. Things became even more surreal the next morning when several workers/special service teams appeared near the water and started taking samples from the river. Judging by the situation, this clearly did not look like a routine check. It honestly felt as if they were investigating pollution or some kind of oil contamination. Not exactly what you expect during a “beach vacation.” At some point it genuinely became uncomfortable to stay there — instead of relaxing, you feel like you’re next to some environmental issue nobody wants to explain to guests. Even the smell near the water was far from “ocean fresh.” What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff — especially considering it was my birthday. You would think a hotel of this size could show at least minimal flexibility or hospitality on such a day. Instead, even breakfast turned into an absurd discussion. We were told we had to choose either the Sri Lankan breakfast or the English breakfast. When my husband simply asked to keep the rice from the Sri Lankan option and add two boiled eggs from the English one, the staff spent several minutes discussing it among themselves… only to refuse. Completely ridiculous and embarrassingly petty behavior. After everything we saw, we decided to leave early and cancel the second night in order not to ruin our vacation completely.

Thank you for the wonderful hospitality. We had a truly memorable stay. The main reason we chose this hotel was because it allows pets. For us, a pet is part of the family. Unfortunately, the majority of Sri Lankans do not understand this and often treat pets poorly. Only a very small number of people treat pets the way they are treated in the Western world. Amethyst Resort allowed us to keep our lovely dog in our room, and he had some of the best days of his life. He walked with us on the beach and played freely on the sand. It was a joy to see. I kindly request the hotel management to please continue as a pet-friendly hotel. We heard that this policy may change due to certain religious beliefs in the area and because other star-class hotels do not allow pets. I sincerely hope Amethyst Resort will continue to stand out by welcoming pets. Once again, thank you. Every staff member was extremely kind and friendly, and we truly appreciate the warmth and care we received during our stay.

I think it's good to hang a board in the pool. That pool is not to wash leg. We saw a group of people washed their dirty legs on the way to the room. Might some people don't know that the pool is for swimming only. Thanks

Very spacious room. We liked the pool...it would be nice if it was a little more deep. Place is generally quite clean, the breakfast was good decent variety.

The lake here is not very clean....not properly lit up. Also room amenities were poor. There were no toiletries. Also the TV was a very old low quality TV.
