The value for money is ridiculously good, breakfast, leisure facilities, kitchenettes etc. All the staff are lovely. This is my second time visiting and I appreciate it isnt owned by a massive hotel conglomerate like most are now. I would rather give my money to this business. They're great with coeliac options for breakfast, the breakfast staff still remembered me from last year, and never got glutened once. Its right by the beach with a back entrance straight to it, the outdoor pool in the summer is gorgeous, and honestly despite how aged it is I kinda love the fact that its a bit of a time capsule. The reception is also 24 hours. What a hidden gem!!!
I think unfortunately it is in need of quite a bit of maintenance, but I also recognise how expensive it is to do this. I also wish they had a better range of dinner options.
Always something to do even if the weather is bad. Fantastic staff that keep the place clean and tidy.
Absolutely nothing!
Pool
Got a leak from the roof had to move then move back. Could of left us in better room or given comp as packing bags an extra 3 times
loved the spa facilities and pool. spacious rooms. lovely gardens
.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were given a spacious apartment with a good view of the garden, which itself is absolutely spectacular (especially when it lights up in the evening) During our stay, we were also shown one of the rooms on the second floor, and the views from up there were truly breathtaking! The facilities are old-fashioned but they are really clean, well-maintained, and clearly well-loved. Breakfast was basic but served promptly and was good. Overall, the hotel is old and quirky, but that is precisely what gives it so much charm and character.
Parking can be an issue if you have a large car.
The hotel and gardens, croquet lawn, putting lawn, easy access to the seafront area. The indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Didn't try the gym.
The apartment decor was tired and slightly dingy. A rolling programme of redecorating / recarpeting the rooms would be a game changer and bring freshness and light into them.
Very quiet and peaceful
Nothing everything was fine will dedo stay again..would be nice if pool was open a bit later
The staff were excellent and the room was comfortable.
The distance from the sea front and from restaurants. We used the bus from outside the hotel.
Nice location, clean. Nice staff
In dire need of refurbishment. Very dated. Looks like it was last refurbished maybe 30 years ago or more
not much, maybe the kitchen helped a little
many things were bad, cleanliness was lacking, it was smelly and dirty, internet was poor quality
Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large rooms.
Very dated and old fashioned.
Good value for money
Quite outdated and looks worn out
Location., Staff, facilities excellent
Price of drinks and the evening menu limitations..
Very very spacious apartment . Has everything in apartment we needed
Very dated like living in 1960’s old apartment but very clean and had everything you needed The shower in one of the bathrooms was hanging off unable to be used , we reported it but nothing was done
The hotel had great facilities,
Everything
Nothing not to like
Lovely location and facilities and staff

The facilities and location great. Easy access to beach. Outside pool and gardens lovely. Other facilities like indoor pool, tennis courts, croquet lawn and pitch and putt also available.
Initial room offered very tired and oppressive. Needs a good refurbishment. Following my approach and disappointment, the staff were very helpful and moved me the following day to a room which was a big improvement.
Staff were very helpful and the swimming pools were great
The bed was really uncomfortable and you could hear people moving about in other rooms late at night
The location and staff were brilliant
The outdoor pool needed cleaning
It has great facilities and was a fantastic value for money.
Fabulous 'magical' hotel. Well worth a visit to experience the luxury of time gone by. Faded grandeur in parts, but excellent facilities especially the beautiful outdoor pool area - a must to take a dip and lie on the sunlounger in the sunshine. Huge bedroom suite rather dated in decor, but fully functional and well kept. Staff very friendly and helpful. Especially the pool staff. Parking easy. Bar good. Garden facilities included mini golf and croquet which we really enjoyed. Only 10 min walk through garden to the beach. Sad to only spend 2 nights. Would go back to stay in a flash!
Sofa bed springs could be felt, but remedied with an extra duvet to lie on.
The location was good wtih good pool and near the beach
The toilet didn't work and the shower didn't work in the whole stay. The shower when switched on pured hot scalding water ont my hand and the bathroom floor. This was a 2 bed apartment and clearly no inspection was done beforehand. Alternative arrangements was an unclean toilet with no sink outside and room with showers on a different floor.
Spacious and clean. Great food and friendly staff
Bit old fashioned and parking limited
Great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Clear signs of under investment in rooms. The shower was substandard. Overall, it is very dated.
Not very good breakfast poor quality food cheap and cheerful
Food quality bar closing at 9
Great location and price
Amazing gardens and facilities
Great sea views from balcony room. Lovley pool.
Lovely grounds to the rear of the property and some parking on site. Nice outside pool. Friendly staff, clean rooms.
A,little tired and dated In some areas.
The staff were very kind and welcoming, the jacuzzi was great and indoor pool too.
The property as many others commented, is very very old and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable, there was no aircon but the fans were not working very strong. The size of the apartment was very good though. The outdoor pool was too deep for a family pool and it was quite dirty. It’s such a huge property and the exterior looks beautiful it has such great potential.
Ideal location Friendly staff Clean Cooked breakfast was goid
Whole hotel very dated and tired Continental choices at breakfast very poor. No evening dining. Only a very limited bar menu not really worth looking at
El personal es encantador y facilita mucho las cosas. Tuvimos un suite en l ultima planta, genial instalaciones antiguas, pero con carácter. En general, todo estupendo. Volveremos. Matilda la recepcionista es un verdadero encanto!
The entire setting and the accommodations were exceptional.

the view was amazing and the facilities such as the sauna and steam room were brilliant
the building and interior was dated which meant creaky floor boards, a broken flush toilet and poor warm water supply but the staff were pro active in helping with these issues
Staff were pleasant. Location was good
Dirty smelly rooms. The hotel and rooms had obviously not had an uplift since probably the 70's. The carpets were threadbare, the rooms smelly. The sofa and armchairs were broken. The sink and hob in the kitchenette were rusty and dirty. Very limited parking. NO Disabled parking - really!! Isn't this a requirement????? No hot water for at least one day. When it did work, you had to guess which is the hot tap, as both taps blue, eventually it came out the wrong side of the sink. How are guests meant to get up and shower before the day starts?? Shelves in bathroom near the sink would be good so you can put your toothbrush, paste etc, somewhere handy.
Lovely views, staff very pleasant.
I have visited before and loved it. Requested double suite but this time no balcony and it was a very hot weekend. The en suite was so tiny as was the kitchen and both no window up steps. There was no fans so very hot and enclosed. Before when I had a double suite the bathroom was separate door but large with window and so was the kitchenette much larger with a window and both on level floor. The hot water failed so we were unable to shower or bath. I did advise reception and a plumber had been called as it failed Friday but not sorted so when we left I asked for compensation. The receptionist could not authorise so I asked her to get the Manager to contact me but so far not heard anything. The staff are very good and of course I understand it’s an old building so things go wrong I was visiting for a wedding and asked for another room to shower but this was not given. I would have liked a balcony as it was very hot and I paid extra for a suite but a fan would have helped. The steps and poky kitchen and en-suite perhaps ok for a young couple but not elderly. The breakfast which we paid extra for was plentiful but they ran out of space Sunday so had to carry further and no glasses for juice just plastic cups. It was not as good and I don’t like to say this but feel anyone visiting need to be given an honest review. Saying that I do like the Devoncourt and the staff are lovely.
Friendly staff Nice indoor and outdoor heated pools
English breakfast but not much variety
How friendly the staff were and they went out of they way to accommodate my family and they needs. And they location was beautiful.
Nothing.
large room and ensuite bathroom, view from bedroom balcony, location, outdoor swimming pool, friendly staff.
cracked sink in bathroom, stained carpets, handle missing from bedside cupboard, overall tired and shabby appearance of the hotel, uninspiring self service breakfast, (no fresh fruit and food left to dry out on a hot server)
The Hotel is dated and tired looking.
Close to where we wanted to be. The breakfast was very good.
The room, although rather dated, was comfortable enough except for the state and cleanliness of the carpet. We asked for it to be vacuumed but ended up late in the day doing it ourselves. After discussing the situation with the duty manager we were given a discount on our stay.
Really comfortable room, lovely balcony overlooking the fantastic gardens and the sea which was absolutely stunning! We opted not to eat breakfast in the hotel but when I've stayed here before the breakfast was very tasty. The reception and cleaning staff were lovely. Nice cosy twin beds for myself and my daughter. Absolutely loved the indoor and outdoor pools, and the jacuzzi was fab!
There was an issue with the bathroom door which could have been a real problem - the latch wasn't working properly so if you closed it you couldn't open it from inside the bathroom, so you were effectively trapped inside the bathroom. I reported this to reception at the end of our stay. Also, one of the nights (midweek) there was excessive (TV?) noise coming from another room that went on til around 1.30am.
Good
Apartment was not furnished
Great facilities and friendly staff
Toilet didn't flush well and had no cold water for some time on one of the days
Close to the beach
Mooi buitenzwembad, mooie tuinen en veel vertier
Erg gedateerd en muffig, klein en oncomfortabel bed
They upgraded us to a bigger room. It was very nice laid out lovely view over the gardens are very nice place.
The bar food could be a little bit simpler, maybe a plate of chips or a toasty
Everything
Had plenty to do
Check out was a bit early
Nice indoor pool area and the grounds were lovely
Very dated rooms and the outdoor pool didn’t look very clean, very cloudy and due to the surrounding trees there was no sun in the afternoon when we checked in at the outdoor pool
Good location and staff are excellent. They were very helpful.
The hotel is in desperate need of a total renovation. It completely need gutting or even knocked down and rebuilt. The rooms are still in the 70's and the bathrooms have Avocado colored fixtures. Showers difficult to control the water temperature. The owners need to spend some money and bring it into the 21st century.
Staff were excellent. We were upgraded to a suite without asking.Lots of facilities to use. Very short walk to the seafront, ask about the shortcut through the park.
Only thing I could possibly raise is Some areas a little dated but it didn’t detract from the stay
Spacious room, lovely view, had all you needed in room
Water pressure for shower not brilliant, all needs updating Breakfast - ingredients such as mushrooms and tomatoes should not be tinned, should be more options of fresh fruit available and more bread options/ croissants available as not cheap price for breakfast available
Indoor and outdoor pools. Staff very helpful particularly Katie.
Extremely outdated. Carpets stained. Bathroom cabinet in the first apartment old fashioned. Jacuzzi bath has rust coloured stains in it and not fit for purpose. Shower did not work. Stains on stool in bedroom. Carpets threadbare. Curtains worn. We were moved to another apartment at our request. Damp and mould area caused by a leak on the wall leading up to the apartment. We pointed this out to management. Threadbare Carpets. Pictures on the website are very misleading as clearly not up to date.
Location perfect, staff nice and helpful . 2 bed apartment very spacious and clean with wonderful views of the grounds and sea
Property really needs updating now , modernisation and redecorating. Some areas like the windows and fittings around baths and basins cracked stained and really old . Plumbing needs updating too . Its still comfortable but carpets very old etc , shabby but still has charm . For those reasons it is quite expensive The outdoor pool area has changing rooms which are not really needed but no toilets or showers
Staff were lovely location perfect, lovely outdoor pool
Broken shower, ants in room, TV reception poor, no air con, lots of general repairs needed... very limited food menu, bar opening times not great, no toilet near the pool
Only the television that did not function well and no subtitles which was disappointed.
none
The hotel offers a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive, and the staff maintain a friendly, attentive approach throughout your stay. Breakfast was a standout highlight — fresh, well-prepared, and served with a great selection to suit different preferences. The dining area is bright and relaxed, making it a pleasant way to start the day. My room was clean, comfortable, and well‑maintained, providing everything needed for a restful stay. The space felt homely yet professional, and the bed was especially comfortable after a long day exploring Exmouth. The view from the hotel is exceptional. Being able to look out across the gardens and towards the coastline added a peaceful, scenic touch that really elevates the experience. It’s one of the hotel’s strongest features and makes the stay feel even more special.
In terms of areas for improvement, there were a few small points worth mentioning. Some parts of the hotel feel a little dated, and certain facilities could benefit from modern upgrades to match the excellent service and beautiful surroundings. Although the room was comfortable, a few features could be refreshed to elevate the overall experience even further. These were minor observations and didn’t overshadow what was otherwise a very pleasant stay. Overall, Devoncourt Hotel offers great value, warm hospitality, and a beautiful setting. I would happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Exmouth.
Breakfast was good and the location was what we wanted.
We are used to a king size bed.
Leisure centre was absolutely fantastic.

Great location and staff were very helpful. Clean and tidy room.
Dated.
The location is perfect for the beach and Exmouth. They're is a lot of parking available, although it does get busy. The jacuzzi was lovely as was the pool (a perfect temperature).
A lot of the reviews say it's looking a bit tired and yes, it's old and isn't modern but it has a lot gong for it and I would definitely stay again.
Upgraded at no cost. Staff very friendly professional. Nothing to much trouble
Overall appearance the place is looking tiered. Needs updating. Lift out of action.
The staff were great, the breakfast was very good and the room was comfortable
Nothing as far as we were concerned
The suite was huge. The pool and gardens were lovely. Walkable to the town centre. Having the kitchen was useful. The sun terraces were great for this time of the year. The buffet breakfast was hood value.
The entrance to the rear car park was easily blocked by other users. The whole place was tired.
The staff were amazing, we arrived early before check in and we were able to use the facilities if we wanted to. We went to the beach which was easy to get to and took 10 mins walking. We used the outdoor and indoor pools, there was plenty to do. We ordered a bar snack of a pizza which my Granddaughter said was good! High praise. We were up graded to an apartment room, with a wonderful view over the garden and looking out to the sea. We will definitely go back. Thank you to all the staff.
All was good
Poo stains on the floor in Zara suit we stayed in. Large ones too ! Had to lay sheets over it as had babies crawling and one of the babies picked up a broken bit of glass 😱 that had been left! Fab buts on the balcony ! And the cub boards were dirty inside.
Poo on the floor.
Location
Needs updating, would have liked the bottom door by garden to give access but very small things.
Gardens
Dated Parking was poor
The pools, and spa. Although Sauna didn't work for 2days, and wasn't switched on other days. But spotlessly clean. Very friendly Guy running it. That and the beautiful gardens made the stay lovely. Katy and Manager were great and proffessional Thanks
Room 304,was rather tired looking. Carpets burnt and very dirty. Toilet had a big crack. Kitchen sink chipped and rusty. Cooker had burnt on splashes. Balcony dirty.
The facilities were excellent - two clean swimming pools. I used the heated outdoor pool (visit during the heatwave) and it was very enjoyable. The gardens were well kept with croquet and mini golf (not used). The room was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs. The fridge freezer was very welcome in the heatwave. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
Nothing I didn't like, but appreciate that this is a historic hotel so some of the fixtures and fittings are not as modern as newer hotels but this didn't detract from the many positives. I had breakfast and evening meal and these were good value.
Everything
Nothing
Fantastic place with great staff. Huge rooms with so much to do. Also a shout out to the gardener who keeps the grounds looking beautiful.
Nothing.
Loved the location, room had sea views with balcony, just had a lovely time. The outside pool was super.
Nothing
The staff were friendly . The gardens and outdoor pool are nice.
The Hotel needs refurbished. It’s very dated. The bar meals offered are very basic.
Swimming pools view & the bar / restaurant
Bed’s uncomfortable & very tired decor, kitchen from the 80’s. N definitely needs a good revamp
The breakfast was excellent if a little pricey. The grounds were beautiful. The indoor pool was great.
Parking was difficult. Couldn’t get close to front entrance to unload heavy baggage.
Friendly helpful staff. Lovely room and great location
Room dated.. sofa and chairs very uncomfortable. Breakfast.. sausages were tasteless
