Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location and the facilities are amazing. The rooms were very comfortable too.
Next time I wouldn’t want to be on a first floor, it’s very loud when someone upstairs is walking.
The pool was beautiful. Our room was very nice with a great view.
The online booking said the breakfast was free. This was NOT true and advertising should reflect that. However, one of the staff was very accommodating and gave us a couple of vouchers. Also, the TV didn't really work.
It was not clean, the rooms were pretty outdated, you could tell it needed deep cleaning . For this price, i expect at least clean room
there was no breakfast
could of had continental breakfast
Location was good. Gemma at reception was great.
Room and corridors smelled like smoke which was awful. Would not recommend staying here.
Location
Smelled like smoke and looked dirty
The location
The cleansiness
We had a dream of visiting the mountain towns, and we started with Estes Park, it was excellent
Friendly helpful staff !
Extremely rundown
Pool was spacious & well maintained. Daughter loved the arcade. Staff was friendly and welcoming
Room was smaller than expected but it worked for us
nothing
stains on the walls, ceiling, sheets, dead bugs in the shower. smelled like mold, and musty af.
I am 82 and this is one of the best breakfast ever!!! Best waiter and the best atmosphere!! The chef even came to our table to say hello! We will return to the restaurant but not the hotel.
The view of the mountains were great from our balcony! The room and bathroom were spacious. Everyone at the front desk had a smile on and were friendly the 5 nights we were there.
The pool area would run out of towels. The cleaning on days 3 & 4 didn’t really happen in our room we were left new towels, which was great and definitely needed. But something you could ask the front desk for as well whenever you needed to.
Extremely friendly staff. Value was good considering the cost of other places for the area. Everything was clean.
Nothing really
Comfortable beds and clean
Bare bones, refrigerator made loud sound, air conditioner was unplugged and huge cover was off lying on floor when we checked in. Balcony not worth it.
Most affordable property in area, dated aesthetics, nice pool
Had to drive anywhere, dates aesthetics
The views were amazing
Could hear the people in the next room very easily
The service people at the lodge were lovely. The lodge itself is in desperate need of updating. The rooms were clean but dated but the lobby and all the corridors were dirty. Carpets needed vacuuming badly. No elevators.
Great lobby and balcony with great view
The room was pretty dated but clean
The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful!
The floor in our room was nasty dirty as well as the hallway outside our room. I walked around in my white bed socks and they were dark gray on the bottoms when I took them off.
Bell'hotel, in buona posizione. Camere ampie e pulite. dpccia con vetro. colazione x noi inclusa buona.
RIEN sauf l’emplacement !!
They have a small restaurant there called the kissing moose set breakfast was good and fairly reasonable wait staff was good
Her room didn't come with any like bath towels so we had to go down and actually ask for towels but other than that that's about it
Lobby and game room were nice, staff was kind
The bathroom had holes in the ceiling, the floors in our room were very dirty, overall our hotel room was very gross.
Location
Ceiling fan wobbly and very noisy.
Breakfast was good in the cafe. Kindness to let us check in early to get ready for the wedding. Our room was ready.
A few moldy areas above shower. Refrigerator was leaking. Outside door stuck a bit on opening and closing.
Comfortable stay. Nice variety of breakfast options.
We were so pleased with the Expedition Lodge! The website was accurate in it's description of the facility. The staff were polite and very helpful. On more than one occasion, we spent time on the upper deck enjoying the breeze and views. The breakfast was nourishing, and served in a very lodge-y style, clean, dining room. Although the weather was uncharacteristically HOT, the AC unit in our room kept us nice and cool. And the king-sized bed was more comfortable than our own! We will not hesitate to return on future trips to CO.
Very comfortable room. The beds were large and comfortable. Pool wqs nice.
No breakfast option except for expensive restaurant on site. Shower pressure was no very strong
Really nice pool and a patio with 2 BBQ grills for guests. Great location, clean rooms.
The stairs to get to the pool from our room.
The location
It was not clean. My floor was very sticky, brown stains on my comforter, and long black hairs in my bed. When I booked it listed free breakfast but at check in was told a restaurant moved in and they no longer had free breakfast.
It was very clean and the staff was kind and it was just what we needed to be rested and clean for our trip!
We had zero problems with this place.
View of mountains between other buildings. Asked for a room with a view of mountains. Very minimal view.
Price was way out of line, even if in the mountains and a Friday evening. Hot water basically uncontrollable. Just was not worth $280 when the following night (Sunday night the room was basically half that.
The breakfast was delicious.
Our room had cat hair all over the floor, and even though I asked for it to be cleaned again, it was poorly done, so there was still cat hair all around the bottom of the beds, in room 165. Also, the property is clearly older and pretty run down.
Location was great. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. We loved the views and the deck on the front of the property. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done!
Property is a bit outdated, so walls were pretty thin.
Great location, clean, comfortable
No complaints
Great location!
Our sink was clogged, we realized too late in the night otherwise they would have fixed it right away!
I had a good stay here. It's not fancy, but good location, clean large rooms, and great service. Gemma at the front desk was amazing, helpful, responsive to my questions and needs.
Location is great with a pretty view of the lake. The pool was fine for the kids. Room was as advertised. We didn't have a chance to try the breakfast since we left too early in the morning before it was open. My only complaint was that we were in the far wing of the hotel that had an extra half set of stairs that the elevator didn't go to. We had a lot of gear to carry in, and it made it really hard since the wheeled carts couldn't go up the stairs. It also made it a challenge when leaving so early in the morning...we felt like we were getting out of a maze.
Location
It’s old rundown and dirty in areas. We were not comfortable there. Pictures on line can be deceiving. Mattresses uncomfortable
Personale molto cordiale e disponibile. Letto molto comodo.
Il bagno era veramente piccolo, doccia scomoda.
The hotel has a good location and it's very easy to find.
The hotel is quite simple and could benefit from some updates and renovations. We chose to stay there because it offered good value for the price.
Beds were comfortable. Liked the on-site self laundry. Wifi was good. Pool looked good. Free parking.
Its a motel that's trying to be a Lodge. Room opened onto parking lot and stone yard. Could it have grass, plants, flowers instead of a desert? No daily maid service. Trash not emptied, towels not restocked after 2 days. We were among the guests who booked a room with breakfast. On check-in, we should have been given the $10 vouchers instead of having to appeal to mngr.
The location was close to all the attractions I wanted to see
The room was outdated, the view from the window was terrible (trash bins overloaded with trash), my key to my room didn't work twice, I had to go to the front desk for new keys
It's an older complex that the awesome new owners are continually updating. The hospitality outweighs any shortfalls. The elevated front deck serves as a great overlook year round both day and night. The game room features 2 pool tables and numerous video games. They also provide bunches of family oriented board games. Not the fanciest, but the most pleasant family friendly establishment in Estes. We had actually stayed a year ago on New Year's Eve as a family group of 10. It was shortly after the new ownership, and to see the progress is amazing. Thanks guys, Daryl
There could be more trash cans around along with a few designated smoking areas. There were a few butts lying around.
Location of the hotel
Location is excellent, great view of mountains. Room was clean and comfortable. Great value!
Unfortunately, we had very rude neighbors who kept making noise and shouting until 1 AM both nights of our stay. While I know this isn't the hotel's fault, it definitely impacted our experience. Regarding breakfast, the options were very limited and strictly cold. Even the boiled eggs and bacon were served cold, which is not really to my taste.
This is a Correction which replaces my initial Review dated Aug. 1 when I was informed at check in there was no longer free breakfast. I always select hotels with free breakfast and would not have booked this one had I known it had been discontinued. I took this up again after I moted travel sites were still posting free breakfast. I was referred to Mngr. Gemma who had seen my initial TA Review. She was apologetic and responded by offering vouchers for discounted breakfast at the newly opened, on site Cafe. This is the kind of customer service to be expected when customers are not to blame for mistakes. A professional manager makes things right by standing behind original offers. Thank you, Mngr. Gemma, for being a travel industry professional. Overall, the personnel were extremely nice. The facility itself is a flashback to the 1970s. Some refurbishing needed. Attention to detail needed like repairing poor tile grout installation in bathroom. Beds were comfortable, we slept well. There was no daily room cleaning. We are okay with reusing towels once or twice, but had to request fresh ones the third day of stay. Amenities like coffee bar were a plus.
Liked the coziness of the place.
Our room may have been a smoking room before, so it had a funny odor.
The lady at check in was friendly and nice. She accommodated my request for a later check out.
There was a big dog across the hall from that kept on barking, loud. My wife called the front deskperson around 8:00 pm to ask if someone could come up and shut the dog up. I don't know if anyone came up or not but the dog barked until around 10:00 pm. My wife was still awake when it sounded like someone came into the room and the barking finally stopped. I don't think anyone was in the room in the early evening when we got back to our room. We even told the front desk that we had to get up at 3:45 am to get to our half marathon race that morning Not well rested and that caused us to have a rough time on the race. Very Poor customer service. When I checked out the next day around noon the lady asked how our stay was and I told her at great length about what happened with the barking dog and she said she was sorry. Not good enough resolution for a serious customer complaint. When we were leaving our room the people in 203 also said they complained to the front desk about the barking dog. They said they got a refund, I got a I'm sorry. We travel to Estes Park OFTEN but we won't be staying at the Expedition again. Too much road noise also since we were on the very end by the highway.
Old building with no upkeep. The bathroom was horrible couldn't take a shower
The staff was very helpful and nice. Many parking spacefor free. Breakfast was good.
The room was ok, but need to renew the room and the bathroom
I don't usually post negative reviews but felt a bit compelled to in this case to help out future travellers, and I can't figure out for the life of me how this became a top choice for the area. Other review sites are much more reflective of the experience and I wish I had cross checked first. 1) The place is filthy. Not just unkempt, but actually filthy dirty. It smells dank (and not "Colorado Dank"), there are portions of the rooms that clearly haven't been cleaned in ages, and when I attempted to open the closet door it literally fell off. It's just in total disrepair. 2) The photos (along with the branding) are very deceiving . The main picture makes it look like it would be an actual lodge, but the truth is it's a motel with one newer facade and that's what the photo reflects. So false advertising. 3) Combining those two, it's already bad news but this wasn't a cheap experience by any stretch, it cost 300+ which is literally unfathomable to me. Thankfully we were only staying one night so we stuck it out, but if we planned more than one we would have had to have switched hotels because we couldn't stay there.
I liked the location and the outside access from my room.
The room was dirty. Hairs in the shower and mold. When we got in the room there was a guy fixing the blinds and we had to wait for him to finish. The refrigerator kept leaking water all over the floor. The ac leaked water all over the floor. Our room keys stopped working at noon on the second day even though we paid for 2 nights. The facility is bad. Needs a lot of maintenance. Has a ton of potential and i would have been okay with it if the refrigerator and ac wouldnt have soaked our floor or if my room keys would have kept working. I know im not the only one with the room key issue because when i was checking in another guest was having her keys reprogrammed. If they fix these issues i would stay again. I see the potential, it can be fixed.
Location
Dining facility- the staff in charge of- very slow in cleaning tables & sweeping up after diners. If you’re serving syrup with breakfast it requires attentive staff to wipe tables frequently. Guests having to ask for a wet cloth to clean their table isa negative impression.
The rooms were comfortable, and the property was generally clean and well maintained, though a few areas could benefit from additional attention. The staff was pleasant and courteous, and the location was excellent. I especially appreciated the hydration station, which was a thoughtful amenity. One opportunity for improvement would be for the staff to become more familiar with Estes Park so they can better assist guests with local recommendations and information.
Overall, my stay was acceptable, but there are several areas that could be improved. The complimentary breakfast was consistently late, and the selection was limited compared with what many hotels typically offer. The fruit quality was also below expectations. Outdoor trash bins were not emptied regularly, and when I requested an extra comforter, only blankets were available. The property also has some maintenance needs. Since I understand there is new management, I hope these issues will be addressed. Adding sheer curtains alongside the blackout curtains would also allow guests to enjoy natural light during the day while maintaining privacy. I'm sharing these observations because I believe the hotel has great potential. Addressing these relatively minor issues could significantly improve the overall guest experience.
Good location.
Very dated.
The hotel has a 4 PM check-in time, and despite that, our room was not clean when we finally got access to it. We were moved to another room, but that one was dirty as well. They eventually cleaned the second room, but it took an additional hour before we could settle in. The property is very old and in desperate need of a thorough deep cleaning and renovation. There was visible mold, and overall cleanliness was poorly maintained throughout the hotel. Breakfast was also disappointing—they even ran out of syrup for the pancakes. Overall, the experience was disorganized, poorly maintained, and not worth the stay.
The breakfast was great, the hotel is located really close to the lake, and if you choose a good room you'll get great view of the mountains in the morning,
Location was nice, just outside of the busy downtown area
Very dated and small rooms, no real area to lay out luggage
The shower wasn't draining and there was a fake finger nail left on the bathroom sink. The fridge was turned all the way up amd froze our food and water.
The room was great. But someone behind the counter decided to use my credit card for person use. It was don 3 times. I had to freeze my card and of report. Major inconvenience when traveling. They took the hacking so casually. That made me insecure.
Super nice and calm
I liked everything about the property
This is the place to be! Amazing view, comfortable rooms, and the staff is excellent. Huge shoutout to Chelsea for going above and beyond!
Nice location and comfortable rooms
Location. Staff and the breakfast
We loved the location in Estes Park. The employees and managers were exceptional with their service.
Easy access to RMNP
The location was great.
There had been a fire in the part of the building our room was in, so it made kind of question if there was still a fire safety issue. My husband has a service dog & they wanted us to pay the pet fee. I had to inform them that is illigal. So they didn't charge us that, but wanted me to sign the pet agreement stating we had a pet in the room. Again I had to inform it was a service dog & they can not ask us to sign a pet agreement because he is not a pet. When we turned the AC on in our room it smelled horrible, so I used some of my body spray in the vents. The "hot" breakfast was a joke. It looked like they had put out leftovers from the night before. Only things that were hot was the chili, yes there was some kind of white chili, oatmeal, & the make your own waffles. But the waffles were sticking horribly too the waffle makers even using the nonstick spray. There was some kind of REALLY hard/tough rolls that were hard to chew. We could not figure out why there were diced tomatoes & onions, salsa & other random items for burritos when there was no wraps, meat, or eggs to make breakfast burritos. This hotel is definitely not worth what we paid.
Breakfast was marginal. Coffee was burnt at 9:00 am. We didn't even bother to eat there the next morning.
Room was dirty. Bathroom floor was sticky. We bought some wipes and cleaned the shower and floor and it was honestly disgusting. There were used kleenex and dead flies behind the bed. Breakfast was mediocre at best and had to ask staff daily for items that needed restocked. Front desk staff gave me the wrong times in regards to entry to Rocky Mountain National Park. Weeds all around the property junk around the back of the building. Pictures on line aren't very accurate. A good clean up of the property would go a long way.
Nice property far enough from downtown to have peace and quiet
Somebody else’s hair on clean towel, but likely from folding as it was clearly clean
Location was great, close to downtown and a short drive to RMNP. Having a balcony was nice - but view was blocked by a big tree. Room was surprisingly clean. Beds were comfortable. Arcade room is definitely a plus with kids.
Didn’t try the breakfast - based off the “weird” reviews. Pool is advertised as heated but it was freezing and we weren’t able to use. Our room specifically was right next to their “renovations”… which lead us to have to walk up flights of stairs, no elevator accessible near our room, and down 2 long hallways since the other stairs were closed down. We have a little one and when we went back in the afternoon to let him nap, the cleaners next door were slamming the door for over 30 minutes straight.
Rooms were clean, great location and the staff was awesome!
Very friendly when we arrived with a welcoming attitude
The place could use some updating as we were in the building next door.
Convenient location and beds were comfortable.
For what the room cost, I was disappointed. Ceiling was peeling and shower doors kept opening during my shower. No elevator up to second level and breakfast was a weird combination of things.
The staff was amazing. Very helpful polite and willing.
It’s a small place. We are accustomed to Vegas or other big cities. This is fine for Estes.
Bed was comfortable.
The room is not very clean especially the bathroom. Very dated furniture.
Location was very convenient to the downtown area of Estes Park,
Breakfast was very limited with not a lot of options. Wish they at least offered more fruit.
Comfortable bed.
The bathroom floor was disgustingly dirty. The shower had black and pink mold growing in it. The room barely had any lights. The door had evidence of someone having tried to break in and wasn’t repaired. The noise in the hallway, adjacent rooms and outside was very loud. The furniture in the room was disgustingly dirty and stained. Other area lodges and hotels with similar rates are far nicer. The front desk male employee was rude and not friendly.
Bed was good, was a quiet room , staff were nice, pool was clean
Shower did not work, cobwebs along Ceiling, no eggs or meat offered at breakfast, tv was not hooked up and had to call for service
We got upgraded and the room was spacious. The bed comfortable and it is close to the entrance to Rocky Mountains NP.
Nothing
Comfortable and clean
I have never had the experience of eating chili for breakfast. No bowels to eat cereal or anything. No coffee. No apple juice. No protein options such as eggs or anything type of meat. All carbs, this is the worst I have ever had.
Close to Estes Park
Staff
Location, check in was easy
Run down with paint slapped on top, musty, felt dirty. Old appliances/fixtures. Checked in- utilized the shower and left.
I liked the views and excellent brreakfasr
There were so many doors in the room and on the day of our journey breakfast was served very late (7.20).
They had a room for us on short notice, free breakfast was a positive and was not mentioned, may be they should update that to get more business! It was clean!
They need some serious maintenance and remodeling at least to the room we got. The bathroom was very run down, the tile was very old and stained grout/cracked tiles, bulbs were burnt out or missing, the sink didn’t drain well. There were no towel holders the only one on the door was broken off and missing.
Restaurant à proximité Personnel sympathique Assez confortable
Petit dej
The staff was very friendly
The breakfast, beds were uncomfortable, door to the room was hard to shut. Most of the arcade games were out of order and the change machine was out of order
Breakfast was good.
Room had a kitchen cabinets completely empty with no pipe hook up which leaked from prior guests.
