The breakfast

The breakfast staff were a bit officious and turned the lights off and started clearing up while there were still a number of guests having breakfast, because the breakfast time was over. They could have waited a bit.

Breakfast was very sad. None of the offerings showed respect or appreciation for the guests.

We have been staying at Best Western for, at least, 30 years. However, I'll just point out this: 15 years ago the same type of room in Maple Ridge, BC was about $120CAD. Breakfast included a variety of fruit and about the same type of cereal as today, as well as the waffles , toast, a variety of muffins, etc. The difference was that the sweet breads i.e. muffin & danish were not all wrapped in plastic; the cups were ceramic, not plastic coated paper cups; and, the fruit a bit more than just a few apples and some sad looking oranges. So, to have an increase of about 285% in the room price, one would expect a bit more variety in terms of fruit and some ceramic mugs for our tea and coffee. The place was not short of staff. To serve a cheapo breakfast for a room of $386CAD is totally unacceptable. Our relationship with Best Western is for ever broken. Kaputt for good :(

The breakfast was great and the location, while not super walkable, was close within driving distance to many restaurants. It was a great home base for exploring the areas around Golden and pet friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

The rooms were pretty dark with not a lot of lighting, and there were a lot of mosquitoes outside when we were there.

The entry was old, front desk wasn’t friendly, person in charge of breakfast was not friendly I stayed in a best western the night before and it was excellent. This one was priced higher and would note recommend it

Great location! It’s in the downtown area, very accessible, and conveniently close to the Golden Bridge

our stay was disappointing in terms of service. On our first day, there was no conditioner provided in the room. The staff also did not seem very welcoming or friendly. There was no greeting or eye contact. We also encountered a staff member in the elevator. We initially went to the second floor but realized that we were on the wrong floor and needed to go to the third floor. The staff member appeared annoyed by this and chose not to continue with us in the elevator. Overall, the location was excellent, but the customer service could definitely be improved

⭐️⭐️ My family stayed here for one night as a stopover during our trip. We arrived a little early and were hoping for an early check-in, but we were simply told no without anyone checking to see if our room might be ready. Unfortunately, the biggest issue during our stay was the overall feeling of being watched. While we were at the pool, a staff member sat facing the pool for an extended period of time, which made us feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. Breakfast was similar. It seemed like staff were constantly watching guests and monitoring where we were and what we were doing. I understand staff need to keep an eye on things, but the level of attention made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Overall, the experience just didn’t feel relaxing or inviting. For us, I would choose to stay somewhere else in the future.

Wir hatten ein geräumiges, sauberes Zimmer mit Sitzecke. Die Betten waren sehr bequem. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ab 20.30 Uhr war in der ganzen Umgebung, bis zu unserer Abreise am nächsten Morgen, Stromausfall. Da kann natürlich das Hotel nichts dafür, aber trotzdem fällt die Bewertung deswegen nicht so positiv aus.

Zum Frühstück wurden, der Umstände wegen, nur Backwaren verteilt und Wasser angeboten. Und natürlich kann man mit dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht zufrieden sein.

They were very accommodating with an early check in. Everyone was super friendly. Facility was clean, room was great, comfortable bed,nice big TV, it had a fantastic breakfast. I would highly recommend it.

The staff is super unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel is expensive and not worth what they are charging for it. Rooms need to be renovated and cleaned fully. Rooms smelt musty and dirty. Breakfast experience was not welcoming and fruit or pastries not even stocked. Not worth what they are charging and issues not dealt with.

Terrible. I am a Best Western rewards member and I always stay at Best Westerns. This was the WORST I’ve ever stayed at. Looked and felt more like a motel than a hotel. Building is very old, somewhat in disrepair. Floors in the dark hallways are not flat/straight, elevator makes scary noises and “drops/thunks”. Pool is ok but no hot tub. The room was clean but a bit outdated. Location is not charming it is near all the gas stations off the main highway. Other hotels in the same area looked MUCH MUCH nicer and I will stay next time (Holiday Inn Express & Prestige). Front desk staff was very friendly though.

Mattresses were a little on the firm sode

Really great hotel and can’t fault it. Good location, good value for the budget, and rooms were clean. Having a kitchenette was a nice bonus too, handy for keeping costs down on food. Would definitely stay again.

Extremely overpriced for a very outdated hotel. This actually looks like a motel. The exterior and interior of the hotel is very outdated and desperately needs renovation. The room is actually Ok, good size and clean. The worst part was the front desk lady that checked us in. She was almost rude, acting like she was doing us a favour. She left a bad taste in my mouth from the start. The hotel is per friendly and I added the note in the reservation that I was bringing a pet. The rude lady kept asking if I advised the hotel about the pet. Yet the hotel charged the pet fee twice. Not very per friendly I guess. I need to mention Eli, who checked us out and he was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very Ok. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

Location close to highway

Too expensive for a motel that is showing some wear and tear.

Freundliches Personal. Gutes Frühstück. Großer Indoorpool. Viele Parkmöglichkeiten. Ruhig, obwohl nahe des Highway. Mit dem Auto war man in ein paar Minuten in Golden (Downtown)

Die Lage in einer Art Industriegebiet war nicht so toll. Drumherum sah alles recht verfallen und ungepflegt aus. Die Fahrt nach Golden, wo man einige Restaurants, Bars und Geschäfte findet dauerte aber nur ein paar Minuten.

Excellent hotel here in Golden BC, right off highway but very quiet, close to anything you need. Rooms are clean comfortable, great wifi. Ftont desk and all staff are Excellent and care about your stay. Shout out to Darwin at front.

The bed mattress was old and saggy. We thought we saw bedbugs. The coffee was very weak and cold.

We liked that it was dog friendly and had breakfast on site

The beds were very soft or too old in our room. And the air con system which we ran for airflow was very very loud and rattled.

Really lovely hotel, great breakfast, Darwin was extremely helpful with some complicated ski trip logistics. Really went out of his way to make it a good trip. A great hotel and a great staff.

Our three night stay was a successful one. The hotel has plenty of free parking and our room was quite large. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the selection at breakfast was tasty with hot and cold options on offer. There was an indoor pool that looked OK, although not particulary private as next to the main lobby with glazed screens. This hotel is well positioned for an overnight or multi-night stay in Golden: would recommend.

The staffs are very friendly, we love the breakfast many choices the foods are hot, they keep on refilling and lots of pastries. The location is near to all the national parks that’s why we booked this place.

I wish the price of the hotel was cheaper. I also was not aware that I would not receive any bw points because I booked through booking.com.

The breakfast was good. Had waffle machine, a variety of breads and muffins, fruits, cereals, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, bacon, beans, potatoes. It gets crowded the later it gets but there is seating in the hall too. The room met our needs. View was as expected, just the parking lot. The shower pressure was good. Kids enjoyed the pool.

The room had a musty old cigarette smell (not sure what was making that smell). Everytime we left the room, we would smell it when we came back. The mini fridge wasn't that cold, so they exchanged it for another one.

We stayed one night on our way to Lake Louise.

Please read and hopefully learn from my mistake. I have been making hotel/ resort reservations through Expedia for TD for many years and I usually check reviews and check the hotel website etc before booking a room. But it was late at night and I needed a room for our daughter and grandkids the next day. So I booked the room and included in 'Special requests " that I required a "pet friendly" room. I chose this hotel because the listing indicated it is a pet friendly hotel and it has a pool. My daughter received an email the next morning indicating that the room I booked was not a pet friendly room. So my daughter phoned to ask if there were any other options. The hotel manager answered the phone and at first he was unaccomodating and quite rude, he suggested she cancel the reservation. Which was not an option due to the fact that it was non-refunable according to the Expedia for TD website and she had a friend that would be arriving and staying in that same hotel. Once my daughter mentioned her friend will be staying as well, he agreed to sell her a second room that is pet friendly and he would not charge the pet fee. Hmmm? He charged her another $90.00. So lesson learned don't be too quick to book a hotel room. I regret not checking the hotel website before completing the booking ( which I usually do ) The kicker to this hotel experience was that they couldn't use the pool. It was freezing cold. This was the reason we chose this hotel. But there was no mention on the Expedia for TD site to indicate the pool heater was not working. So needless to say I will not recommend this hotel to our many family members and friends or ever consider this hotel when we are travelling between BC and Alberta.

Pet room was very accessible to back door. Outside they have a proper dog area. They have tables just off lobby so I could have my dog with me and have breakfast. Breakfast is OK . Could have a bit more yogurt and fruits.

Back door got stuck. Locked out. Manager fixed immediately when I reported it.

The breakfast was good, the room was good but the 2 staff that were working prior to 16:00 and right after were definitely not people persons. Also, warm up your pool, we couldn’t even go swimming because it was so cold and that was one of the reasons I booked there

The staff were very helpful and the beds really comfy.

This hotel was clean and had the best shower. Bed was comfortable and there is plenty of parking. Desk staff in the morning was very friendly.

Excellent breakfast, had to switch rooms, first one reeked of smoke, second one was much better, but my husband still thought it smelled funny. Bed sunk in the middle, not very firm.

We choose this hotel because it was central with all the national parks around. We stayed there for 7 days and it was very nice. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was super clean. The included breakfast was really good, we ate there every morning before hitting the road, they served eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles, muffins, cookies, pastry. The sauna and the pool were welcome too after a day hike. I’ll stay there again despite the area which was a industrial and almost empty. Golden seems to be a town where people stop for gas or eat but not really enjoyable to walk around. We had a nice diner at the Wolf’s Den though. I’ll recommend it.

Hotel appeared clean, great to have onsite pool and parking. Room was comfortable and clean. We ended up cutting our stay short from 4 nights to just 1 as we really just didnt like the area, staff at reception were apologetic but if there had been more to do around Golden we may have stayed longer.

Quite noisy in the early hours with staff yelling down corridor at each other, don't know if it was just because we were on ground floor we noticed it more.

The A/C didn't work but they fixed it first thing the next day. I really enjoyed the pool. It was the warmest (which was still not very warm) and nicest on our whole road trip. I got to use my noodle. It wasn't crowded. The breakfast was good. Nice staff. Our room was large, had a sofa, chair and desk, and that was the best thing. The alarm clock was terribly confusing. We had to use it to recharge our devices and somehow it must have accidentally been triggered or it was left on from the last guests, because it woke us up at 6am, hours before we wanted to get up. That was a downer. The towels were better than many hotels. We will stay here again. And that says a lot. (I'll double check the A/C and alarm clock next time before 5pm when maintenance leaves.

The manager was amazing, friendly, offered lots of options for things in-town. Clean Pool was lovely. Nice breakfast.
