Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Room was very nice; had a beautiful view from the sliding door onto the property. Absolutely loved the upper bar...panoramic view overlooking the water. Dinner and breakfast was delicious! Great location.
Not sure if it is a code thing in Scotland...but there are no outlets for a blowdryer, etc in the bathrooms. Also, the front desk is not stocked with amenities, like shaving cream, etc. That would be my only complaint and that is a minor one.
The staff was exceptional. They were interested in your stay being the best ever. Loved the hotel and location.
All of the food (and drink) was of an excellent quality.
Would have liked to have had some Earl Grey tea in the bedrooms / more choice of in room beverages. The food and drink was expensive, given how much we’d already paid for the accommodation.
Gorgeous scenery, excellent restaurant, attentive staff
Rooms a bit worn
It was our 50 Wedding Anniversary and they laid on special occasion items for us, including seating us in a restaurant pod for dinner. Also the hotel had electric car charging which we used.
All good, many thanks.

Amazing & relaxing stay at Fonab for our minimoon. Breathtaking views, easy access to the town & theatre whilst still being able to get away from it all. High quality food, rooms & service. A really special stay!
A wonderfully located property on the banks of the Loch and just off the A9. The location provides easy acres to the dam and fish ladder, the surrounding walks, and access to Pitlochry Theatre which was our main reason for the stay. The castle is relatively small with the majority of rooms being annexed as “lodges” a short walk from the hotel. The properties public area are very modern in style with the bar (and some of the rooms) being in the older castle dating from the late 1800s. Prices probably reflect the normal Highland prices in August I.e. not cheap.
L'emplacement La vue magnifique sur le lac Le sauna et le spa Le calme L'excellent restaurant sur place La conciergerie La navette pour le bus ou le train
L'éclairage faible de la salle de bain
Very well situated just beside Pitlochry, this hotel is great for exploring Pitlochry and the surrounding countryside. The welcome you get is exceptional. The rooms are beautiful, clean and well appointed. Food is good.
My husband and I were going to see a production at The Pitlochry Festival Theatre so booked two nights at this hotel after a Google search of the area, I simply cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. We were collected from the station by Mike (in full Scottish regalia) who became one of our angels during our stay. The other angel was Davie. Checking in was easy, but unfortunately the first woodland room we were shown had an issue with the bathroom ceiling,so Mike swiftly moved us to an even better room just above our original room. This room was delightful and featured a large balcony with table and chairs for al fresco dining.Very spacious with a vaulted ceiling and lovely views. It had a massive, wonderfully comfortable ‘Emperor’ bed (I didn’t know such things existed!) and the decor/ furniture was very attractive too. The bathroom didn’t disappoint either. Very large with a spacious rainfall power shower, free standing bath and plenty of fluffy towels. Every part of the room was spotlessly clean. We were presented with a complimentary plate of delicious handmade chocolates and every extra we requested ( another lamp, off menu food,a lift to the theatre etc) was sorted out by Mike in a jiffy.Nothing was too much trouble for him and his warm, friendly instantly put us at our ease. Both the breakfast, set dinner and à la carte menu gave us a wide choice of food for in-room dining which is always our presence when we’re staying in a hotel.I had the lemon sole goujons on both nights of our stay as they were so tasty. The swimming pool and wellness suite were about a 30 second walk from our room. We had a lovely swim in water of a perfect temperature and most of the time, had the pool to ourselves. Davie took over from Mike to look after us that evening (sporting a different version of traditional regalia) and made sure he had all the information memorised to get us to and from the theatre in good time. He was a complete gentleman, providing me with a special little step and the use of his arm to help me get safely up to the high step of the people carrier vehicle. This was much appreciated as unknown to Davie my mobility can be a little problematic due to a long term chronic illness. He also kindly complimented my evening wear, which is always good for the old self esteem! Davie collected us after the show and whisked us back to our beautiful room. The following morning the front of house manager kindly offered us a late checkout and presented us with a box of gorgeous lemon and thyme biscuits hand made at the hotel as a souvenir of our stay. We were given a lift to the station by Mike who gave us a little talk about the history of the town since the days of Queen Victoria (she was a big admirer of the place apparently) Hand on heart I can say that the Fonab Castle Hotel is without doubt the finest place we have stayed in the UK and we have every intention of returning sooner rather than later. The standards of everything from the staff attention to detail and the luxury of the room/facilities ( including Netflix available on a large flatscreen Tv in the room) )are a firm 10/10. The manager of the hotel deserves a firm pat on the back for making the place into such a delight for rest and relaxation! Highly, highly recommended.
We had a fabulous weekend celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday. Food was brilliant and staff were so helpful.Hopefully will be back soon

Spa needs a bit tlc
From the moment we arrived until the morning we had to leave, this is by fat the best hotel stays we have ever had. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and the layout was perfect. The view from the property was spectacular, it does not matter where you are the views were picture perfect, and we took plenty. The staff was absolutely wonderful, they genuinely seemed like they wanted to help you however they could. Above and beyond for out first trip abroad.
We had a really lovely stay and felt very welcome and well looked after, will definitely be back.
Very peaceful location. Lovely friendly staff in all areas of the hotel. Food quality is excellent (both breakfast and dinner).
We visited Fonab for two nights for our anniversary. Lot's of things were very good but there were also a few things not so good. The staff are all very friendly and professional. The property is impressive and in a lovely spot. The restaurant was excellent (I'll post a separate review) for both breakfast and evening meal. The cocktail bar was also very nice with great cocktails, nice ambience and staff. The room was a little tired but fine. Except it was warm and there wasn't aircon. Which when you're paying 400 quid+ a night I think should be expected. Because without it, even with the outside door open, it was quite uncomfortable. The spa is nice but when we went there were no available beds around the pool (9 available I think), the massage was good but expensive, and the outdoor jacuzzi was closed. If it's not open in July when is it? On the second morning the water was completely off (apparently in all rooms in our corridor) so no tap water, toilet flush or shower. This hadn't been resolved by the time we left midday. I did feed this back to the hotel but got a generic reply not addressing any of the issues. Maybe it was AI generated. So that wasn't really what I would expect either. I notice a number of not so positive reviews on here are not responded to but good ones are. I see that as a problem. We would definitely return to the area and the restaurant for dinner but not to the hotel as things stand.
Booked a single night in a $600 castle but was in a tiny room tucked next to an elevator which felt like a $200 room max. The hotel felt like a conference center vibe not a cozy castle. The staff explained that dynamic pricing and it being a last room made it price high on booking.com and they did a partial refund after needing to meet with them. They were very nice but I didn’t want to have to meet with staff, say anything negative or stay there …. I just wanted to stay in a $600 room in a Castle for my one night there.
Beautiful property very comfortable and friendly staff. Very comfortable bed and room. Great toiletries
The restaurant was good but not fabulous. Could be better. The view was wonderful and staff attentive
It was surprisingly amazing and beautiful
Nothing
Es un hotel molt tranquil. Vistes fantàstiques al riu. Les habitacions amples i espaioses. Net i ben decorat. Zona de piscina i spa molt be. El personal amable i atent. L’esmorzar un 10.

Very good.. staff so good also
Beautiful hotel made amazing by the dedicated staff team. They really do elevate the experience. They whole team needs to be appreciated for their hard work (because it can't be easy to be that lovely all the time) The food was lovely too, I really couldn't fault any of it. Great buffet selection of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses and pastries for breakfast along with an a la carte menu. We had dinner two evenings and again this was lovely. We are already planning our return.
Overall great experience. Scenery is excellent. Perfect spot for location to town, hiking trails and the loch. The quality of service was outstanding.
Great view. Nice facility, friendly staff
None
Venue and setting lovely and dinner was decent. The views from the restaurant and bar are stunning and staff were all lovely and attentive. Our room was in the Castle and not quote at the level I hoped with a couple of broken things (toilet flush button and handles on some drawers etc) and breakfast was poor. Overall we have a nice time but expected slightly more in terms of room and breakfast.
Terrible staff training. Really dont give a **** about your experience
Food /service and reception on leaving
This hotel is fabulous. Easy parking, great food, a very comfortable room, excellent staff and a short walk to the town centre. We shall return.
The suite we had booked was run down and in dire need of refurbishment. A very tired room with lots of stains on walls and carpets, wobbly toilet seat, just to name a few defects. What really shocked us most though was that our suite had a view straight onto the car park which wasn’t apparent from hotel Website when we booked. No privacy at all - we would have to be in the room with curtains drawn at all times. We asked for a different room and the only alternative was a single room half the size of the suite. We asked for an appropriate price reduction. We were told that only the general manager could consider this. The GM was elusive, never available, in meetings or calls. Even when I faced her, by chance, in person, she walked away and cited a petty excuse. On check out we were offered a meagre 30 GBP reduction per night. The staff, in particular restaurant staff in the hotel are wonderful. The hotel management however not visible and not willing to “face the music”, instead letting their front line staff face unhappy guests. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have had, and I strongly recommend to avoid this hotel which is poorly managed and doesn’t give the value it promises to deliver. I noticed there were quite a few similar reviews in the past which I ignored, with great regret.
This hotel is in an incredible location overlooking the loch, service is top class - we’ve noticed some changes including the new bar, though the cheapy feel table tops and fake fire lack that 5 star feel in our opinion. I know the hotel is now part of a group, I hope this does not mean a reduction in 5 star quality and charm.
Delicious restaurant and Lake view, but a 5 star hotel this was not. Wake up call request never came. While this area can be cooler sometimes the rooms get hot and there is no AC in the rooms. They do offer a small fan in the closet you can use which seems out of place for a 5 Star hotel. You could leave the balcony door open for fresh air but not knowing if there are bugs in the area, we really didn’t want to chance it having had a bad experience in the Bahamas with bugs coming into room. Having a screen door would have solved it, not a complicated fix. We also didn’t get the feeling they would go above and beyond on requests like when we asked for the fire pit to be lit to sit by it in the evening when it was cooler and that could not be done. In Maui there is a propane fire pit that adds to the romance of a nice stay, albeit missing here. 5 Star hotels lead to 5 Star expectations and this one missed the mark.
What a fabulous stay we recently had at the Fonab Castle Hotel. Without question, Fonab Castle deserves its 5-star rating. The Castle Hotel is beautiful inside and out. Beautifully appointed bedrooms and public spaces, surrounded by a stunning wooded landscape and views of Loch Faskally. The Fonab Castle also offers an amazing culinary experience with delicious entrée presented like works of art. The restaurant, and delightful upstairs lounge with large windows and balcony, also overlook the glorious view. Best of all is the staff who are so helpful, especially David and Arthur who provided excellent concierge services. Arthur even insisted on driving us to town to take care of an important matter. Thank you all for an amazing, fabulous stay!
Birthday and Anniversary weekend away. Location is stunning, Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Fillet Steak and Peppercorn sauce was excellent. Spa and pool area lovely
Our stay at Fonab Castle was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, who made us feel right at home throughout our stay. One of my favorite things about the property was the beautiful grounds. We enjoyed taking walks around the hotel, and it was the perfect place to stretch our legs after spending hours exploring the Highlands. Our room was lovely, and the bed was incredibly comfortable— one of the best nights of sleep I had during our entire vacation! We also have to mention the restaurant. Throughout our trip, we ranked every restaurant where we dined, and Fonab Castle was our favorite. The food was great, as was the service, and the entire dining experience was memorable from start to finish. If we're fortunate enough to visit Scotland again, Fonab Castle will definitely be at the top of our list. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing stay with exceptional food and hospitality.
Wonderful location, views and staff
Staff in the restaurant were overstretched at evening service
Absolutely delightful Amazing place and such a warm welcome.
Breakfast and staff were great.
No air conditioning
Peacefully location. Hotel facilities modern and clean. All staff seemed friendly and helpful.
Needs some night entertainment. Nearest town of Pitlochry does not have a taxi service. You have to use your car for transport and if you want a drink in Pitlochry then you cannot use your car. Draught beer needed and bottle needs more selection in Hotel.
Fonab Castle sits in a truly stunning location, with stylish bars and an elegant restaurant looking directly over the River Garry. The views alone make the experience memorable, but the atmosphere inside is just as impressive — refined, relaxed and beautifully designed. The cocktails were outstanding, crafted with real care and creativity, and our meal was probably the best we’ve ever had, with every course perfectly executed. The spa facilities were exceptional too, offering a peaceful escape with luxurious treatments and immaculate surroundings. Fonab Castle blends modern comfort with historic charm, creating a stay that feels both indulgent and unforgettable.
Our stay was lovely overall, but the room itself felt a little tucked out of the way, and we were surprised not to have a bath considering the premium rate. It took a little away from the otherwise luxurious experience Fonab Castle is known for.
we had our meal delivered to our room , soup was beautiful curry was nice , breakfast was lovely .
main meal could been better maybe it was because it was room service .
Amazing service and staff
My wife and I LOVED staying here. It was our first night of the next 17 days in Scotland. Only 1 night though, wish our itinerary allowed for another night. We stayed in the Castle Suite, and it did not disappoint. The room and bed were huge with amazing views of the nearby loch. The grounds are nice to walk and there is even a trail around the entire loch, which we enjoyed for a short distance. Dinner was standard for our vegan dietary requirements. Breakfast was good with decent fruit options, breads and porridge. The other highlight of this place is the spa, which was included in our reservation. We used it in the morning before our guide picked us up for our next leg. It was one of the better spas we've been to- a great heated indoor swimming pool and all the spa amenities- felt like we were in Scottsdale. They did a nice job with the spa facilities. Overall, a short but fantastic stay.
We had a wonderful stay. The location is stunning, with beautiful views over Loch Faskally, and the hotel perfectly captures the charm of a traditional Scottish castle. Everything was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay! We also really appreciated that the restaurant offers Halal chicken, which made dining much easier for our family.
Nothing. Everything exceeded our expectations!
Camere arredate bene e molto spaziose, ottima ristorazione
Beautiful room, friendly and helpful staff
Great location but very tired for current room rate. Spa also feeling quite tired too for what you’d expect. Dinner was good.
We stopped at the 1820 Grill at Fonab Castle for a very late lunch while travelling with our family, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our day. The food was excellent, the setting is beautiful, and the atmosphere perfectly complements the stunning surroundings of the castle. What truly made our visit exceptional, however, was the outstanding service from Danijel, the restaurant manager. Danijel was courteous, professional, warm, and genuinely attentive from the moment we arrived. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and he ensured that every member of our family was well looked after. His hospitality was natural and sincere, making us feel genuinely welcome rather than simply served. It's rare to come across someone who takes such obvious pride in providing an exceptional guest experience. Danijel is a real credit to Fonab Castle, and we hope his efforts are recognised by the hotel. If you're visiting the area, I would highly recommend dining at the 1820 Grill—not only for the food and beautiful surroundings, but also for the first-class hospitality.
Beautiful property, staff was fantastic and the location next to the lake and the town was perfect!
Relaxing, restful, clean, friendly& welcoming staff, lovely food.
The first room we were given had a bad smell & was dark. Our room was changed & the replacement was perfect. Thanks!
Venlig mandlig tjener ved morgenmaden.
Fortravlet personale. Døre og karme i vores bungalow af ringe kvalitet. Dørlåsen løs. Lille værelse. Ingen aircondition. Elendigt lys på badeværelset. Ventilator af overraskende dårlig kvalitet, knirkede meget.
Grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Hotel its self is polished.
Our bathroom needs maintenance light mirror needs replacement as it is chipped and doesn’t light up.
Fonab Castle is a fantastic place for those who want a lazy vacation, small town vibe, and nature hikes. They give a lot of chocolates and sherry and whiskey tastings! There are some maintenance issues with electrical in the room, unsteady shower water temperature, and the spa center needs a bit of maintenance love as well. But otherwise, a perfect spot.
Nice quiet location. Staff are friendly. Rooms in the castle are nice. The common area’s like dining room and lounge are modern and lack any atmosphere. They have views to the forest , but all surface are hard which makes it for a noisy environment. For a Castle experience it could surely be fitted out a bit more in style. The food serviced in the restaurant was great.
We cannot thank everyone at Fonab Castle Hotel enough for making our wedding so incredibly special. From the very beginning, the team went above and beyond in every possible way. Every personal touch, every little detail, and the exceptional level of care made our day more perfect than we could have imagined. The food was absolutely outstanding, the wedding cake was beautiful and delicious, and the attention to detail throughout the entire day was second to none. Every request we made was met with a smile, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff were warm, professional, polite, and genuinely committed to making sure everything ran perfectly. We would especially like to thank the wonderful gentleman who welcomed everyone at the door, the fantastic reception team, and, most of all, Lori. We must have sent Lori endless emails while planning our wedding, and she handled every single one with patience, kindness, and professionalism. She absolutely nailed every detail, and we are so grateful for everything she did. A very special thank you also to Aneola (apologies if we've misspelled your name). You were an absolute gem and truly one of the stars of our day. You were there whenever I needed you, always with a smile, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Even our guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing you were—they kept calling you "awesome," and we couldn't agree more! If we could give more than 5 stars, we would happily give 7! Thank you to everyone at Fonab Castle Hotel for creating memories that we will treasure forever. We would recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone looking for a truly exceptional wedding venue.
I booked 3 woodland lodges for 2 nights for our family and 2 dogs. On arrival I explained to the receptionist that one dog had passed away only a couple of days ago and we only travelled with one dog. I asked about the the temperature in the room for the dog and I was told it was ok. There was no air conditioning in the rooms and 1 smelt of damp. Luckily we brought some fans with us which helped a wee bit . The rooms are very small to also accommodate dogs. I myself had to leave after 1 night with no breakfast as the room was far too hot for our remaining dog and was making him unwell. On check-out we were charged for the dog who is no longer with us, we won't stay again.
Lovely location with quality food and service. Some general maintenance required in the bedrooms. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Superb warm but professional welcome in a stunning building. Staff were all excellent and very personable. Very good breakfasts, excellent dinners. Shame about the wintry weather in June, but we still managed a walk through the gardens into town. Great location on the A9 but not!
Gym was a bit small and limited, but I appreciate it’s not a high priority for most guests at Fonab.
Locatie
Verwachting van een vijf star hotel klopt geheel niet. Voor een 4 star is het hotel okay.
Extraordinary staff! Impeccable service. Our concierge Mike was amazing. Informative and fun to chat with. If you want old school service this is your place hands down.
I had a recent wonderful stay at Fonab Castle, Pitlochry. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. Morag, Judy and Davy were stars in their own right from the very off on arrival . The luxurious room in the main castle was superbly clean, comfortable, and well maintained and very well stocked with welcome goodies and treats. The service was outstanding and exceeded expectations throughout the stay. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety of fresh and expertly prepared dishes. The hotel and adjacent spa offers a relaxing atmosphere and excellent service, facilities and hospitality at the highest level . I highly recommend Fonab Castle to anyone visiting Pitlochry and would eagerly look forward to staying here again in the future.
Staff very helpful. Accommodation very good. Setting lovely. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room very good and Spa staff very helpful.
Nothing.
If you're not sure, take from us, stay at Fonab Castle. It's wonderful. The staff were great, the room was great and the dining was great.
Fantastic location. Food very good especially the beef. Very good front of house staff
Needs a little more attention to detail.
Exceptionally friendly welcome and a stunning hotel - lovely spa - rooms large and roomy ... bar lovely and dinner and breakfast exceptional .
I would have liked to have been able to open a window at night - on the ground floor with only a patio door and being female I was concerned re safety . The room got hot during the night.
The outside of the property looks amazing
The room was very basic, I had hoped with paying nearly 500 pounds for one night in the castle suit it would have been a bit more breathtaking, but it was not, marks all over the wall, massively dated furniture, and just not what I would not expect to be paying 500 pounds for one night, I had also made the hotel aware that it was for my partners birthday and if they could do anything special but I got an email asking for even more money to make it a bit special?? looking back at it I am pretty disappointed and would say that there is zero value for money and for the room that I got I would pay maybe £100/£150 maximum!!
Staff were impeccable, room was beautiful, unbelievable view, bed was comfy.
Vegetarian options were lacking sightly, but the meat choices available were all fantastic, my husband loved everything, meat was all great quality and could really taste how well it was cooked.
מושלם
Fonab was the highlight of our Ireland/Scotland vacation. We celebrated my wife's birthday and had an amazing dinner. All in all its really a superb place to stay.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fonab castle, lovely grounds and accommodation, service and staff were fantastic, food and atmosphere were superb, in all a friendly welcoming weekend with a luxury feel,i would highly recommend it for the experience.
Location / restaurant
Asked 3 times for the light in the bathroom to be fixed ! It was NEVER done ! Even had a long conversation with the porter ! Bathroom was showing its age.
The castle is a mix of old and modern buildings and the scenery from the bar is great. And food was excellent (we had dinner and breakfast and drinks at the bar). The room had plenty of space (even 2 bathrooms). And the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We left we many good memories.
We had not planned enough time to experiment the SPA… our bad!
Staff very welcoming and attentive. The main restaurant was closed and we were not aware of this prior to booking. However, food was served in the breakfast room which was fine. Waiting staff were very knowledgeable with regard to the menu.
Lovely room although would have preferred a better view from the patio..we faced the car park. Room was clean and housekeeping staff did a very good job during our stay.
We definitely spoiled ourselves with this experience and it was worth every penny! The service was outstanding and they really made you feel like royalty especially Kristi at the front desk and the concierge . The setting was also stunning and the castle room was very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing as well. I highly recommend.
My partner and I stayed here for one night and had a wonderful time. Attentive staff, beautiful room and very comfy bed. We used the spa facilities which were spotless and the sauna + steam room were excellent. We had dinner where we had a delicious meal. My partner had the cheese souffle to start and we both had steaks as mains. Neither of us usually have streaks because they tend to be overrated and underwhelming. Not here. They were superb. Overall, a lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful location, and we plan to return
Beautiful gardens in a stunning location. The rooms are nice but a little warm despite it being cold outside. The lounge and dining areas are beautifully decorated. The food is outstanding. The dining pod is divine.
I was greeted at the door by a great doorman that was always happy to see you and super helpful. From there I was offered a sample of local Scotch and greeted by Neta who was always great to talk with and help. The beds were the most comfortable beds we've had yet. The food service was always happy to serve even when I asked for take away plates for an early departure. And lastly the view was awesome.
We had a short break here in a woodland superior lodge. The hotel was very nice and the food was good. We paid £15 extra one day to have breakfast in the lodge which was nice and relaxing but they need to change the window set up as if you opened the voiles to have daylight then people walked past and looked in at you - not very private - especially as our lodge was right next to the staff living accommodation- so a lot of people walking past. It was also very hot and stuffy. I would not want to stay in a hot spell.
Visited with my husband for afternoon tea for his birthday. Lovely welcome when we arrived on the grounds by the gentleman out front. Arrived for our table and stood for 10 minutes to be completed and seated. Seating and table arrangement was strange. Felt like a children’s table as very low down which is not comfortable to eat at and completely impractical. Service was incredibly poor and not overly friendly. Were not asked nor offered more than one pot of tea. Had to chase down the bill as no one in sight. Food was mediocre and not the quality I expected. Certainly did not live up to other afternoon tea experiences. All in all not the experience I expected and overpriced due to poor service and quality.
Such a romantic location. I used the hotel facilities everyday including the swimming pool and sauna. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel
I loved everything!
This hotel disappointed on most levels. We were with a group that delivers 99.9% of the time when promising "premier" hotels. On this trip, Fonab was the only place that missed that mark and it did so in a big way. Despite the warm greeting with whiskey and fudge and the beautiful views here, we would not recommend this place. Our room was uncomfortably warm. The AC did not work even after attention from maintenance. The restaurant was the biggest disappointment. We had a dinner for 4 and another group dinner for 20. Service at both dinners was awful with waiting times over an hour for main course. The food was not good despite what the GM has said in response to other reviews. The breakfast food was fine but the service was inattentive and slow. I agree with the reviewer who noted the ownership by a PE group. Would not recommend this place.
Bed was very comfy
Room looked tired. Furniture needed changed and chip in bathroom sink
we enjoyed our visit and the staff were extremely helpful breakfast is such a treat location is stunning
Views, the meal, the spa
Super mooie locatie, in een schitterend kasteel. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant van het hotel.
NVT
We were welcomed with concierge came out and grabbed our luggage immediately. The room was modern and equipped with everything you need. The dinner was delicious and the view was simply amazing. The restaurant was very modern and clean. Walking distance to lovely historical city of Pitlochry
Beautiful location. Service and food are very good. We were in an annex room which was fine except the room was too warm.
Overall - I would not recommend and would not revisit. I don’t think there was value for the price paid. Good to visit for a dinner or tea but not to stay. Location: The grounds and the views are very nice. It’s about a 8-10 minute drive to Pitlochry. Service: The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, there was a very friendly Scottish gentleman who took our bags and showed us around the property. The main building is not much and is being upgraded from our understanding. The bar / restaurant was nice and the service and staff there was good. Nice views from the bar. Breakfast in the dining room was a good menu and the staff were friendly as well. The reception was always very busy and there was not a lot of useful information provided when recommendations were requested. The rooms were the problem and why we would not visit again. This is definitely not 5 star hotel. The rooms are dingy and small . The bed is small and not very comfortable. It got very hot in the middle of night and there was no easy way to fix it. The room were a disappointment and definitely felt cramped and more like a motel than a 5 star hotel.
Das Schloss ist zwar klein, die Anbauten werten den Komplex aber gewaltig auf und dadurch wird auch die Lage noch einmal spektakulärer. Das Personal ist exzellent.
Kein Schreibtisch im Zimmer
Fonab castle is a luxurious stay with stunning views, amazing walks around the loch and into the local town ending the day with use of the spa and treatments. staff are so welcoming they couldn’t do enough for us.
Superb service from staff across the board, beautiful setting, spa is very good and the dinner was excellent. Breakfast has everything you could want from buffet to cooked options. The doorman is a character and concept his invitation to have a quick tour of the castle. The rooms are probably due an update re decor but that’s just me being pedantic. Would definitely come again and this was our third visit..
What a beautiful place, did not disappoint in any way. We booked a night here at the end of a two week Scottish tour, so it was hotel number 8, and it was the cherry on the cake. We were by Mike, a kilt clad concierge with a warm, welcoming smile. A tour of the castle later and he whipped our luggage to our room which was just lovely. Very clean, quiet and comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep. Bar area and restaurant very comfortable with a gorgeous loch view, and the food was delicious. Every member of staff was polite, friendly and lovely. Little touches like Tunnocks teacakes and caramel wafers in the room, to an umbrella painted inside with an image of the castle, to shortbread on leaving, made this a wonderfully special experience.
Nothing - it was just as special as we hoped it would be and I would stay again in an instant. An absolute treat.
The setting of this location is excellent with stunning views, the staff are very helpful and the food was excellent.
Friendly and welcoming hotel. Very good facilities including a pool and spa. Food and service were excellent. Beautiful grounds and a lovely walk along the river into Pitlochry. Excellent location for the Festival Theatre.
Historic building set within a stunning location . Fantastic welcome from Dave with castle tour and welcome dram. Castle room very comfortable and spacious. Food was excellent at dinner and breakfast, although we were charged extra for tea and coffee at breakfast?
The attitude of the reception staff at checkout was poor. Not only were we charged for another guests bill, they tried to bill us again for dinner. When I explained that we had paid for dinner separately we were met with disbelief. There was no apology for their errors, or how we had been made to feel. Although the dinner bill was resolved , this has left a rather sour note on what would of otherwise been a perfect celebration weekend.
