I had a wonderful stay at Oceanside Hotel. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. It’s a family-run hotel, and you can truly feel that warmth and care in every detail. The location is absolutely perfect; it’s so close to Fistral Beach, which made morning and evening walks along the coast incredibly easy and enjoyable. Our room was fantastic, with a beautiful ocean view that made waking up each morning extra special. The bed was incredibly comfy, and there was plenty of space to relax and unwind. The owner, Mrs. H, and the general manager, Emma, were absolutely amazing. They were welcoming, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their hands-on approach and genuine hospitality really set this place apart. I also loved how dog-friendly the hotel is. They made such a fuss of our little Cavalier, Lady, and the staff were so lovely and kind to her throughout our stay — it really meant a lot to us. I highly recommend Oceanside Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, friendly, beautifully managed, and dog-friendly place to stay. I can’t wait to return!
Visited the restaurant for the bottomless afternoon tea. What a great selection of foods, both savoury and sweet treats. Amazing scotch eggs!!! Couldn't finish the platter of food. Staff were incredibly attentive and couldn't fault the service, with a special thanks to Emma for making our wedding anniversary celebration special. The weather outside may have been miserable but inside was warm, friendly and inviting. Definitely would love to come back.
Lovely clean rooms, dog friendly. Staff very helpful and friendly. Sunday roast… unbelievable! Soo good. Great location
We had a lovely couple of days here, the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble, they really looked after our family and Lola the Lab!
Booked a quadruple room for family wedding. Room in the old attic space therefore had fantastic views over the golf course and sea views to the side from the bedroom and bathroom. Bedroom and bathroom were clean, newly decorated and spacious. Beds weren’t the comfiest but it wasn’t a big deal. Breakfast was included which was freshly cooked to order. Staff members were all very friendly and there wasn’t enough they could do for you, from the reception staff to bar and restaurant staff, they made my whole family feel very welcome. Yes, it’s a very old hotel and yes there are areas of the hotel that are dated and could do with some work but when it comes down to customers service and location it ticked all the boxes!
Thank you so much to Iah on reception who looked after us and took care of our needs, very much appreciated and really enjoyed the wedding reception, all staff very friendly and our room was clean and had a lovely view, thank you.
Great Staff, very helpful. Could do with an explanation with regards to parking before arrival.
Good location, friendly staff, an enjoyable place to stay.
Quiet older property
The location of this property is unbeatable. Close to the ocean and an easy walk to downtown. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I liked the parking which had a cost but was very convenient. They need to do a bit of work on the place. There was some areas in the room that needed painting and plaster work. The shower and bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was very good.
Popped in Sunday evening, as non resident. The welcome and customer service was great. The food is good and highly recommend the fish and chips. All fairly priced including the alcohol but we missed the 10% service charge. But we were fed and welcomed with no booking.
Lovely hotel. It has a buzz and caters for every age. Great breakfast and bar food. Welcome was great. Easy car park. All good. We will return.
Disappointing, would not recommend if you want cleanliness. First impressions are good, a fair bit or area to sit outside where you get the sun until late evening and a large bar area with pool table which i can imagine would be a cool/chill place to hang after been at Fistral beach. As soon as you pass the reception the standard dramatically drops, dated decor, stained floor and walls. As for the rooms - honestly worth more like £50 per night, thats the only price i could see justifying the run down, unhygienic, battered rooms. The room in detail - small, holes everywhere in the walls from old fittings, loads of scuff marks on the walls accumulated over years, pealing wall paper. The worst is the mould in the bathroom which is a genuine risk to health with the pours that black mould produces. You can see where the cleaners have attempted to wipe it off over and over again. Never actually tackling the underlying problem. Seriously doubt if the rooms would be fit for guests should a health inspector visit. Have honestly stayed in the centre of london in nicer hotels for cheaper. The location is really good however do not let this be the sole reason for booking this place. Fully expect a reply along the line of ‘we’re really sorry about this, its the next room to be renovated’ or ‘we have never seen the mould before’ Look at my other honest reviews of restaurants/hotels in which i’ve gave out give numerous 4-5 stars. This is a true and honest reflection of out stay here. Please see photos attached for evidence
Lovely staff very helpful. Would return again
Very enjoyable stay, great room with balcony overlooking the golf course and fistral. Loved the cornish breakfast. Nice bar inside and terrace outside. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
We went here for our last meal before leaving Newquay. I had never been before but had always noticed the place over previous years! I'm so glad we did go and have a look, VERY friendly staff and incredibly efficient service. The manager/owner was running around like there was no tomorrow and ensuring all guests were taken care of. The food was tasty and great value for money. Not to mention the seafront view from our table was to die for! Thank you (:
We have just returned staying for 5 nights. We booked late so only the cozy room was available. Yes it was compact but it was super clean and had everything we needed. The location is perfect for Fistral and Newquay itself. The breakfast was good and plentiful We had dinner there twice. The mussels were Amazing, all the food was really good. It was height of season and very busy but honestly did not feel it. It was relaxed and no way near as noisy as I expected. In fact it was quite peaceful. Every staff member we interacted with were courteous, friendly and nothing was a problem or issue. Thanks guys for making us feel welcome. So why not a 5..... just a couple of reasons really personal to us. 1. I would like a decent size bath towel. 2. Pillows were a bit too hard for what we prefer. 3. A few hooks to hang the wet towels. I would definitely stay again
Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Good breakfast, great room and relaxing stay. We stayed in a triple room and there was plenty of room for us. Double bed was huge and very comfortable.
Booked this stay @ Oceanside few wks before stay & ended up speaking to a gentleman @ hotel reception after booking as taking dog so wanted to check details! He was pleased we rang as he could move us to a bigger room with dog excellent I thought. Checked in & realised we were put in a very small room 9x11, small d bed very uncomfortable also & en-suite of sorts ! The phrase couldn’t swing a cat was not a joke had to put suitcase in window only place, no other rooms left so couldn’t move us sadly, stayed 1 night only & got a refund next day ! Staff lovely !
The lady who checked us in wasnt very good she had a lot of attitude and was miserable, Hotel room is very nice and large , round the hotel going to the rooms need some repainting marks everywhere look’s tired, breakfast was really good , location was spot on for the beach and town center ..
Lovely independent hotel in a great location halfway between Fistral and Towan beaches. Great view over golf course to Fistral. Lovely big room suitable for 3 adults with plenty of storage space. Social areas very welcoming and great to have a pool table with teenagers. Only issues were small concerns about bathroom - lack of blind on windows, screen round shower too small, etc but all fine and would not stop us visiting again.
An exceptional stay. Superb staff. I stayed with my teenage sons and puppy and the care and attention shown by staff was above and beyond. The hotel might not have 5 stars or be deemed luxurious, but the comfort, friendliness and level of service, far surpasses many of the 5 star hotels I have visited. It was tailored to meet our needs perfectly! We will return!
Really enjoyed our stay staff couldn’t do enough to help you and really friendly outside room was really well maintained my only very slight remark was a few small signs of wear and tare in our room altho was still immaculately clean just thought a £200 per night room shouldn’t have shown few signs of wear that could be easily fixed … overall very happy breakfast was really good would recommend
Great location, good view Bed uncomfortable Tiny shower cubicle far too small elbows hit the sides of cubicle, not great. Requested a fan was told one would be left outside room door, but didn’t happen Back down to reception, asked again fan provided broken and did not work, Back downstairs to reception again to ask for a none broken working fan, finally got one had to ask three times Breakfast ok bottle of water provided and refills Plenty tea, coffee & milk
Stayed two nights in a second-floor balcony room overlooking the golf course. If you like keeping tabs on the movements of every other guest, this hotel is ideal—no amplifier required. Tip: the last guest to arrive usually gets the best sleep. Enjoy the experience. Location: Just a short walk to Fistral Beach and the city center. On-site pub and breakfast available. Parking is offered for an additional fee.
Lovely place in great location. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast eggs are fantastic ! Service at breakfast is very good - we were pleased that dogs are not allowed in the breakfast room ; my husband is allergic to them - Thank you.
Stopped for a quick lunch,my partner ordered a breakfast, and I ordered a Chicken Caesar salad. The service was quick, and the food came to the table quickly. My partner said their breakfast was ok. The Chicken Caesar salad unfortunately was a no from me. Nice place to stop for a drink. But for food I'd try somewhere else.
Fantastic hotel
Stayed for one night with a sea view balcony. The view made up for many small but all important attention to detail things which were missing. For the price paid which you would expect when paying a premium price. Items such as no hooks anywhere in the room to hang coats and towels in the bathroom. No soap, shampoo or shelf provided in the shower. Tea and coffee only provided, no biscuits, hot chocolate etc. Lots of marks on the walls and a few stains on the carpet. Outside corridors were worse for wear, they certainly need a refresh Cooked breakfast was certainly served to a price. Cheap beans, only one egg used for scrambled eggs, only one sausage and bacon, certainly not plentiful.
We stayed in the balcony room overlooking the golf course & Fistral beach & was blown away on how perfect it was. Comfortable bed, fridge in the room, adequate wardrobe space, hot spacious shower & all eyes on the view from the room. We had a few drinks in the bar & also breakfast in the morning & the staff were super friendly & accommodating.
This is a great little hotel right on the edge of Fistral beach. If you’re in the area for surfing, you can simply walk straight down to the beach in wetsuits and also has easy access to local bars etc. We were lucky to get a loft room which has a really lovely push out Velux window- a great touch! Staff were super friendly throughout and the breakfast service in particular (included) was of an extremely high standard. If we were to be picky… the towels provided were really tiny and the prices in the bar/ restaurant were a little steep; but that’s the case for much of Newquay now and that is being picky. Overall a fab hotel and would highly recommend!
Great stay will be back when in the area working again
Bottomless Brunch was excellent. Fantastic breakfast and we weren’t here to break the drinks record but they were incredibly fair and decent. Knocked my son’s down to a breakfast because he was on water and gave my wife and me an extra drink. Very fair as always. Thoroughly decent place to visit and stay as we’ve stayed before. You won’t go wrong here.
Lovely stay
couldn’t be happier with my choice! location was amazing! Walking distance to Fistral Beach .. Staff was really friendly, shout out to Ivan for his help with everything I needed :) The rest of the staff was equally accomodating and friendly.. The view from the room was great. The restaurant downstairs also had a lot of food choices. The bedrooms were very clean. I highly highly recommend staying there!
Good all round, staff and facilities very helpful, nice location.
We used to live in Newquay but moved away 8 years ago. When we were resident in the town we passed this establishment several times but never went in. We came back down to Newquay for a break this week, we were staying in a nearby hotel and decided to give this restaurant a go. On entering we were reluctantly served by a surly looking young woman who looked as though she just couldn’t be bothered, no smile, no conversation, no eye contact. We sat at a table outside and ordered 2 chowders. We enjoyed our meals but there was more potato than fish in the chowder which was a disappointment. An older gentleman who served us was more friendly than the young lady. I enjoyed the music playing in the background. Quite pricey.
Lovely dog friendly hotel fistral beach is literally on the doorstep short walk into Newquay town staff super friendly overall a lovely beachside hotel will definitely be back
Room was clean and comfortable and peaceful. Lift to rooms and stairs available. Breakfast was included which was good. Young girl serving did struggle with our order but she did sort it out.
Liked the proximety to the beach
Worst service I think I’ve ever recieved. Especially from two memebers of staff an older man and a lady with an accent. They were working the night of the give back concert. I found their attitude appalling . I stood at the bar to be served and the man walked off. The lady served me after those two had an argument on who was going to serve me. Both turned round to say they were busy. I ordered some cheesy chips which took forever to come. I was in the function room and missed some of the acts because I was told to wait at a table. Took ridiculously long for chips to come out I must say. Then overheard them talking about the concert and when asked if it was finished one of the performers said no goes on till 10/11pm the man said well that’s a shame then isn’t it. Can’t speak for the other staff on shift that night but these two I’m amazed they are even in a customer serving job with the attitude they had
This place was absolutely lovely and amazing for the price, staff were really friendly and helpful. Stayed one night with a group of friends for a night away and a round of golf, place was exactly what we needed! Breakfast was amazing! Highly recommend!
Brilliant view, large and comfy room, lovely little touches in the room for our dog with bowls, treats and a towel and poo bag. Staff so friendly and helpful
Have been twice now for roast and will continue to go based on our experiences both times. Our friend also had a wedding there which was lovely. Fab food and service. Sunday lunch is amazing and plentiful. Fast and friendly service. Lovely surroundings. Highly recommend!
Very pleasant.
...........................................Only stayed for one night , hotel nice clean and tidy , comfy bed , good shower , decent breakfast, staff friendly. Great location close to Fistral beach ...............................
We had a great stay at The Oceanside. We’ve stayed before & will definitely stay again. Staff are friendly. Location is fantastic for the beach & town.
Lovely room, booked one of sea view with balcony. Two easy chairs overlooking sea. Free parking behind hotel, good location for walk out to headland. Excellent Sunday lunch, comfy bed and superb breakfast. Friendly staff. Most clientele younger than us (in our 70s and not surfers)! But ideal for an overnighter in winter.
Couldn’t ask for me. A great hotel with amazing sea views. The staff are all pleasant and helpful, breakfast was great and evening meals were also lovely. Room was spotlessly clean and very light and airey, we stayed in a triple room which was gorgeous. My only niggle is the single bed is a sofa and is very small and rock hard so wasn’t the best nights sleep but was fine for the duration. Will definitely be returning
Nice atmosphere and ambiance. Very pleasant, friendly staff.
Great location and views. Helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Lovely hotel and friendly staff, great atmosphere with the best breakfast
Great location, very pleasant staff, decent food etc and rooms clean.
Very cute hotel! Lovely room overlooking the golf course with its own balcony with a bistro table and two chairs so you can take in the view, not today though as the wind is blowing enthusiastically. Beautiful! Another small double bed but it is super comfortable. There is a little fridge and coffee/tea stuff in the room, and everything else you would expect. A small vanity or work table and comfy chairs with a coffee table add to the utility of the room. There is a restaurant pub downstairs which looks lovely too.
Reviewing for the restaurant, I haven't stayed at the hotel but if it is anything like their food and service, then top drawer. Visited around a dozen times for their very unique Sunday roasts. Massive platter filled with your choice of roast meat and a massive helping of vegetables, roast spuds etc. Way too much for two sharing, really! If you are wanting a desert then good luck, I'm stuffed!
Really close to fistral beach which we loved, really short walk to fistral beach. Comfortable room, helpful staff when we checked in and a lovely bar to relax in. Allowed us to order quick food when serving time was almost finished. Will be returning
I am staying here. The hotel is nice. Had a meal. Wasn’t that great. However… Elle our server in the restaurant was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Her customer service skills were second to none!!! I would employ her in a heartbeat !!!!thank you Elle! You were amazing !!! You made us feel really welcome
Convenient hotel by the sea 10 minutes from the town Friendly helpful staff nice restaurant and outside seating
Staff were very nice. Food was good.
Lovely little hotel thats been lovely decorated in bar and reception area. Our room was very small but still had everything we needed for our 1 night stay. Hotel has keys rather than card access which was no problem, just unusual from what we're used to now. Walls are thin if you have people next to you that bang and slam doors. Bonus is they allow dogs and food is average price, not through the roof because its a hotel.
I've stayed here quite a few time on business trips and it's been fine. Current trip and my room is above bar, beating of music means no sleep until it stops, 2230 and still going, not a good week I'm having. Time for a change across town for next trip. Advise room on second floor and far as possible away from bar. Work colleague had exact same problem 2 weeks ago.
We spent three nights at Oceanside and I’m so pleased we did. We’ve often walked past it as we usually stay at an apartment nearby, and wondered what it was like. Well, the friendliest staff ever and a fabulous balcony room made it a wonderful stay. Huge fuss was made of our dog and she even got a sausage at breakfast, all the staff always asking if everything was ok with our stay, always smiling and chatting. Food was lovely, we ate breakfast and dinner there, and the outdoor seating area is great with the added bonus of heaters when it’s a little chilly. The hotel bar and restaurant is done really nicely, you can see alot of thought has gone into it. Thanks to all the team for a wonderful stay, we will be back!
Great location and comfortable rooms.
Unfortunately (and I believe it’s the manager - shaved head and glasses) is just so rude. Local to the area so we have the ‘locals’ card - which has always been an issue. In the past when we have shown it to the staff they’re like ‘we’ve put it on’ when we actively see they haven’t. We recently had to renew the locals card, and every time the new code given to us doesn’t work. My husband has tried three times, and given his details to the staff three times because they ‘promise it will get sorted’. This last time, the above mentioned manager just had no desire to assist. Quite stiff when we ordered drinks, short with his staff. When we gave him the locals card number he said ‘it’s expired’ and just brought over the PDQ without even trying to look into it. When I expressed that it really didn’t seem fair to not look into as it wasn’t our fault he said ‘well it’s not my fault either! - cutting me off as I was trying to explain that this would now be the third time we have followed the instruction to use the QR code and leave details with them. I just said ‘that’s a bit spicy and rude way to respond but okay’ and walked off to him shouting after me ‘no it’s not really!’ I’m sorry, I do love this place for so many reasons and memories but this manager is just so rude.
Quiet clean and great breakfast
Lovely place, we’ve visited numerous times but today was not good. Food and service were okay although our server was sum what muddled and needed to triple check our order. Food arrived and halfway through eating and drinking, a gentleman decided to spray ‘Round-up’ weed killer three feet from the table! I was so gob smacked, I didn’t reply properly to his statement,’ it’s pet friendly but don’t let him near’. Round up is only pet friendly after it dries, but what about us who could smell it and was breathing it in? As you were ‘the boss’ I’m sure your staff won’t give you feedback. So here’s your feedback, you’re an idiot who should’ve used this carcinogenic at 9am, not during service!!
I had a great stay here, my room was clean and comfortable, evening meal and breakfast was great. Definitely recommend
The food was excellent and the staff were professional, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. Fully recommend eating here and a great atmosphere. They were really busy, but well worth the wait. Booking in advance, you will not be disappointed.
The staff were so accommodating and the location was great. I had a room for a night prior to moving to a house on the Pentire. The kept my luggage until the house was ready. The view from the window was awesome and the beds were very comfortable.
Excellent stay. The staff are amazing, extremely friendly and happy to go above and beyond. The bar and breakfast area are lovely, very fresh and comfortable settings. There’s also plenty of seating outside with a wonderful view!
The communal areas are lovely but the bedroom is a bit tired and the bed is rock solid.
Really comfy beds quite in room, lively bar
Stunning location, friendly helpful staff. reasonably priced, stunning bar and restaurant all round lovely place
Amazing views, great staff. Loved the room with balcony, will definitely return. Thankyou
Walking distance to Newquay harbour, short walk to the beach and coastal path and room with a view
The room was dirty around the table marks on carpet and dust on heater definitely not worth £130
Really good breakfast and hard-working staff. The family room (king + single) was great for 2 parents and a child. Good variety of restaurants for dinner within walking distance of the hotel.
Really lovely hotel located in a perfect position. Sea front views and not much traffic (in March!) Bar area was lovely to sit in with the log fire burning. The room was a lovely size and no issues with cleanliness. Had a balcony room which was just perfect and well worth the extra pennies! Didn’t try the food on this occasion as we wanted to explore but it always smelt amazing! Close enough to the town centre for restaurants and pubs but far enough away that you don’t hear the drunken antics. Nice touch having the empty fridge in the room to store wine and snacks.
Reception great. Small tired room and a little dirty. Sink hadn't been cleaned & the TV remote was disgusting. TV was tiny & slow. Decor was bland to say the least. On a positive note the restaurant & evening meal was brilliant as was breakfast. Staff excellent throughout & maybe i was unlucky with my single room but if it wasn't for the tatty room I'd be back.
Great sea view
Nice quite place to qtay
Great stone throw from the lovely fistral beach dog friendly hotel with dog friendly beaches parking with the hotel was great none of that got a hotel but where we going to park business and a nice wood burner with comfy settes to warm you up definitely will return.
Had a fantastic stay. Staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again
Good location, wonderful view of Fistral beach and golf course. Slightly worn , and a fusty smell in bathroom. Comfortable bed, helpful staff.
Very friendly welcoming staff the dog was also very welcomed! Will definitely stay again
The hotel is in a fantastic location for Newquay with Fistral Beach a few mins walk away. We had a room with a balcony and sea view on the second floor which was great to sit on to catch some rays and enjoy the view. There are some fantastic restaurants near by including Japanese, Tapas and Pizza. The staff were very friendly and delt with a query I had with the bill swiftly. Food on site is lovely with a great vibe inside and on the veranda with a great view. The bed was very comfy and the shower good. All was very clean.I would definitely stay here again!
we stayed only 1 night at this property, but really enjoyed the experience. the room was nicely decorated , with a lovely modern bathroom. We had a bright room with a big window facing golf course - nice treat especially if you are into golf (which we are). the hotel provides breakfast, and nice options for lunch/dinner. We enjoyed our stay and will be back soon.
Excellent in every way - probably because not in town centre - value for money, quirky, helpful, staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble. How all hotels (especially the big chains) should be
Well decorated, clean and new. Nice bar and patio. It was so close to the beach, golf course, and convenient to other restaurants. Such a picturesque place.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. We stayed for three nights and there were two separate wedding parties which made you feel a but like you were gate crashing! The disco went on until midnight so it was after 1am before it was reasonably quiet. Apart from that it was an enjoyable stay and if the weather is nice, like it was for us, the outside area is great.
Loved the room, the balcony was lovely and breakfast was good too.
I loved my stylish single room. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of room to move around. I had a little sea view if I sat on the window seat. The staff were great, particularly Violet who went out of her way to be helpful. The breakfast was efficiently managed and the food was excellent. There is a beautiful sea view from the breakfast room. The only downside was the small old TV. Overall this is a great hotel, in great location with friendly, helpful staff.
Great Hotel. Great location. Great brekkie. Clean room. Great all round. Loved the bar/ social areas too.
Had a fab time, we brought our staffie and he was very welcomed and got plenty of attention which he loved! Everything was exceptionally clean and very homely:)
Great location, great breakfast and very friendly staff. 5 minute walk into town and a big car park at the the rear( but you have to pay for it ). Highly recommended
Well run
Pretty sure we found the best hotel in Cornwall when we found this gem. Perfect location - the town/harbour and beaches on your doorstep. The food was superb and the overall vibe of the hotel was perfect.
Staff were lovely. They were friendly and very accommodating. The only gripe I have was that my room was over the "entertainment" area and as such the "music base" noise from the event below was clearly audible in my room. I did have an issue upon checking out with regard to the payment of the room as I had paid this, in advance, via ebookers and that payment could not be found until a very nice manager sorted it out.
Absolutely fantastic food, both breakfast and evening dinner. Huge portions and lovely fresh ingredients. Hotel was good, loved the balcony. Was a little expensive for what it was and then had to pay extra for parking which was a bit disappointing. Having said that, the location and view are fabulous if you are staying in Newquay.
Beautiful chilled decor, lovely sea views and super helpful staff - we had to bring the kids at the last minute and the hotel were brilliantly flexible with swapping rooms, thank you Oceanside!
