Reasonable priced room. Seaview. Pool and sauna were great for sorting achey muscles after walking SWCP. Road was a little noisy.
large public rooms, food poor
We had a lovely stay here in this centrally located and spotless hotel!
Very much enjoyed the.pool
Good location for 3 great nearby beaches. As of Aug 2025 the breakfast was very limited so it should be improved.
Hotel Was pleasant but do feel that it was over priced room was small and little out dated in furniture Staff were friendly
The stay was very welcoming and the service was very kind and accommodating of us and our little dog. However, we had a huge family room and only a queen sized bed in it which didn’t really make sense. The windows were in need of a good clean outside and the bedspread had a rip in which although isn’t unclean kind of didn’t represent the hotel in the way the rest of it did. I’m aware it’s undergoing renovation so sure the rest of it will match soon. Its position is fab and easy to walk or drive around the Newquay / Cornwall area.
Our stay was quite positive, good location. Parking space is something that can be improved. Good cost benefit
perfect location, spotlessly clean throughout, lovely pools to relax by, and a really good breakfast. recommended
As a last minute decision to go to Newquay we were more than delighted with the hotel , services & breakfast facilities…
Checked in fine. I just wanted a night away from my major house renovation to relax, before starting hospital treatment. No relaxing, TV didn’t work. Receptionist couldn’t get it to work and no manager or maintenance on-site. Hotel full so i couldn’t change rooms. SO I spent an hour and eventually got it working-this is NOT my job and NOT what i wanted to do on my one night of relaxation. Then, building site next door and power tools being used by 7.30am. My view? A yellow knife in a dirt ‘flower’ bed. Other than that, hotel clean etc but just too upset to not get to properly relax because the room attendant hadn’t done their job properly.
.
No complaints whatsoever, perfect greeting from receptionist, very helpful, barman good service, hotel in general was spot on. We stayed for 2 nights but would definitely visit again.
We were looking forward to some stunning views but sadly our room on the 1st floor had a view into the courtyard. No possibility to fully open the WINDOWS or have a privacy without completely blocking the air. The rooms are in dyer need of air con as they were so stuffy (only 20C outside) and as the windows are chained you can barely open them. I was surprised to find out the room doesn’t have a FRIDGE. My bad, as it isn’t listed. No teabags in the room, only coffee and UHT milk NOISE! - room above seemed to consist of a heard of wildebeest that liked galavanting around at all hours. Floors are very thin and noisy and even a cup being put on the table in above floor is heard downstairs. A couple fighting above our heads until 1am and Sunday morning had people screaming in the outside pool. As much as we love birds, the constantly open windows meant Seagulls were noisy at all times, midnight, 2am, whenever! Sadly, as the BEDS were very comfortable!! For a hotel, sleep was very hard to come by. We read so much about great food in this hotel so decided to have a dinner. Pasta with mushrooms had more mushrooms than pasta. Children’s pizza was about 3” diameter, … can’t recommend. Breakfast ok PARKING - a bit tight squeeze, phew! £8/night not £5 as advertised! DOG FRIENDLY it was wonderful, thank you! STAFF - especially cleaning & breakfast staff and waiters, you were absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for being so lovely, always smiling and always very helpful ❤️
Amazing service for me and my dog - Great location, nice bar and easy parking. Fabulously clean and smart. Super!
Nice bedroom, cosy bed ,bath and shower , complementary tea, coffee! Would be nice if pillows were softer ,and the safe worked . Bit annoying listening to women talking whilst swimming at 7 o'clock in the morning ,while your trying to sleep .
Comfortable stay in a pleasant hotel
Small and badly ventilated rooms. Good and walkable location
Dust on the desk. We could see a lot of mud and carpet trims underneath the heater.
Great hotel! All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. There was plenty of breakfast food, full English or a continental option. You could have both and go back for more, self-service. The evening meals were excellent. Compliments to the chef. One, two or three courses at a reasonable fair price. Nicely presented, with quick service. Parking was £8 for 24 hours. The pool isn’t huge but it's okay. Extra towels can be collected from reception. The small gym was a bonus. It has a good selection of exercise machines and weighs. There was evening entertainment in the bar which started at 8.30 and finished at 10.30, (vocalist or entertainers) We read some of the negative reviews and some are really not fair or true. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Newquay. Well done to everyone at the Kilbirnie Hotel.
The hotel was lovkt to loo
Overall it was a nice experience with them. Looking for come back
Great location, easy check in. Perfect for an overnight stay
Super clean and charmingly decorated. Nice location kind of on the edges of the city center. Very friendly staff. Loved it!
Nice modern room and great value for money. Friendly staff at reception and very helpful. Easy walk to the lovely Tolcarne beach.
Lovely stay here. Everyone was so helpful and friendly including Jane on reception and the cleaners. Super dog friendly and a lovely homely but very clean hotel. Pool and sauna was fab
Friendly, clean, with great views when in a seafront room. The car park is a bonus and there was always a parking space when I was going in and out. My only comment was on the middle floor you could hear other guests on the floorboards above. However they could have been baby elephants! Will stay here again
Great check in, spotlessly clean room, comfortable and well equipped. Dog stayed for just £10 and parking was great. All round super hotel
Heated swimming pool and clean rooms
Friendly staff in a good location.
staff at reception was great. pool and sauna was working which we enjoyed . bfast buffet was limited but enough for a short stay
Room so comfy. Bed lovely and service at desk great. One of my favourite hotels to stay in. Great swim. And always friendly too.
Lovely place to stay and a bargain to boot - indoor pool and outdoor pool open for those brave enough to take the benefits of a cold water dip in November! Car park tight but not an issue with a small car or when there are plenty of spaces...minor issue with a large car park around the corner. Will certainly stay again if in the area.
A little dated but good location and clean. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Not so good
Hotel is nice and clean, great location for local beach, one member of staff was lovely/ lady in her 50s, she was super helpful and kind but others were rude on reception. Pool was great for kids
Lovely property, great facilities, would definitely stay again. Chambermaids nice and friendly they should be on reception
Booked this last minute and so glad I did, we only stayed one night but the staff were lovely, the room was clean and pool although small was great. Close enough to the town centre that you could walk in and far enough to get a good nights sleep. Would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel.
We liked that it was not a long walk to the centre but far enough out to be quiet also we liked that you could get a 5-person family room.
Looks like its Hotel is refurbished recently. Rooms are clean and Bathroom is clean too. No issues. Its very close to the beaches especially Lusty Glaze. Nice location with sea view if you get front rooms. Walkable to beaches and high street for restaurants. Only downside was hotel car parking is very tight and not easy to get easily to the car park at the rear as the entrance is slopy and other car blocking the entrance restricting the space to enter the car park. Also, Hotel dinner is ok - not exiciting. Breakfast is good but its same everyday. Not much choice on pastries/ no scramble eggs/ only fried eggs. Fruit was minimal. Highlight is the location of the hotel and rooms are clean.
Nice old school hotel . Hotel staff nice. Food great price
Room was fine even with the building work next door which ceased bang on 17.00 as agreed. Tight parking and chargeable even though owned by the hotel ? They only have the old fashioned card swipe service and as all my cards we’re on my phone I had to pay cash for the parking and if I wanted food or drink it would have been the Same. But can’t fault the rooms or the location, would stay again but remember to take my cards with me.
Amazing weekend
.
Lovely place, proximity to the beach, friendly staff
The staff were amazing and very helpful. Even with the rain we managed to keep the children entertain with the pool and vast bar area where they run in circles. We got luck with parking but there seems to be parking available nearby. The Land train stop was right next to the hotel which takes you all the way to Fistral beach. The location is great with two beautiful beaches within 6min to 8 mins walk.
Staff were amazing! The hotel is quite dated though so the floors and walls are paper thin so can hear everything going on around your room. Luckily we didnt have anyone too loud either above or next to us so didn't disturb our sleep.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
I booked a one night stay in a single room as I was working near Newquay. Check in staff very friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations, room and bed very comfortable, pool and gym looked very serviceable even though I didn’t use them. Location very good for walking to town and amazing sunsets!
Excellent breakfast
We stayed for one night and found the staff were very friendly, we had a clean room and a comfy bed. My only slight disappointment was the water during a shower wasn’t overly hot. It kept changing from cold to mildly warm. Other than that, a lovely stay.
Hotel was clean staff is nice and helpful
Very nice👍👍
We stayed 2 nights it was really nice Heated indoor pool kids really enjoyed it Room was very clean
Perfect for our holiday break away to Cornwall. Brilliant location, friendly staff and fab indoor and outdoor pool. Our family room was clean and spacious. Brilliant hotel and excellent value for money.
Absolutely amazing, friendly people, clean place couldn't ask for more.
Room was clean and good. Front desk were very much welcoming and supportive.
Very polite and efficient staff . The front desk staff was very helpful for me , as my wheelchair didn’t arrive on our plane and had to be couriered from London. They were very supportive in the arrangements and receipt of it
Lovely decor, comfy beds and rooms, lots of hot water and good shower/bath, attractive reception and bar area and friendly staff. No complaints with the property.
We thought it was value for money but does require a facelift but clean and tidy
Very clean, friendly staff, good food.
made to feel welcome. Rooms clean , fresh towels when requested. Bar service excellent with Daniel always on hand. Front office with Julie and others friendly ,efficient and helpful. Short walk into "town". Would return.
Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff couldn’t fault it in any way I’ll definitely be coming back again
Nice hotel, lovely service.
Always a nice clean hotel but wasn’t impressed with my room this time due to where I was situated right above a roof where all the seagulls and pigeons seem to gather kept me awake most the night with their noise
The shower was cold and breakfast was expensive what you got. Also had noisy neighbours which isn’t the hotels fault but the walls are thin.
Very nice
Very welcoming check in. All members of staff including receptionist and catering were friendly. Our request to upgrade to sea view room was granted professionally. Room 222 needs some maintenance work the shower and sink hot water tap not functioning properly but managed. Loved the heated water swimming pool. We have stayed at this hotel several times when our daughter was little came back after more than 20 years had a very pleasant stay. Thanks to all.
1st Room noise anove bar . Asked to move which was done first thing next day . Staff very friendly, especial in dining hall .
Very nice hotel.
Very friendly staff very helpful
The swimming pool had paint missing, and the filters weren’t turned on, the sauna was cold , and there was no place to lock your belongings
nice hotel, near enough to town centre, only down side is parking and you now have to pay but there is a chance that the car park could be full so you need claim back the £5 per night.
Staff The room
Best asset is the staff - very nice, friendly and ready to help in any way possible. Hotel standard and quality is equivalent to the rates so no complaints about it being a little bit dated. Good bar with decent beers and good fish and chips and English breakfast
Comfortable stay at this cozy place staff were friendly, and the location of the hotel ideally outside the Busy central area, with outstanding view's nearby would stay again
Staff were really helpful and friendly and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Hotel was very clean, good service, stay again, the only thing I found not good had to pay for hotel parking, when we was staying at hotel,
Great location, accommodation and facilities. The parking was secure with 3 cameras. Staff were very friendly at the front desk, however slightly cold during breakfast. Luckily the food or coffee was never cold the 3 times we had the paid breakfast. Nice bar, indoor and outdoor pools.
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very good and friendly. They went out of their way to help us which we appreciated a lot. My wife is disabled so the big issue was parking. We paid for parking but there was no spaces!! We were surprised to find out the lack of even one disabled space. When we asked about it they said that they were in process of addressing this issue. We enjoyed our stay, the sea views were lovely and would recommend to others. What lovely staff members!
The staff were amazing. Very helpful and friendly. A real asset to the hotel.
We had made two separate bookings, as we had decided to stay an extra day in Cornwall. I telephoned to ask if they could be joined together, and dealt with a very abrupt receptionist, who said, “no, you didn’t book with us so I can’t.” Really unhelpful as it meant we would need to move rooms. Thankfully on arrival, we were greeted by two really pleasant reception staff, who apologised for the poor communication, and managed to merge our room bookings for us. We also managed to find a space to park underneath the hotel. The spaces are super tight, but it’s very convenient. You will be charged £5 per day. The hotel itself, is also a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it looks very basic, but internally, it’s freshly decorated, with plush carpets and is extremely clean in all areas. There is a pool, but we didn’t have time to use this. There is also a bar area, but again, we didn’t use this area. On our first nights booking, our breakfast was included. They will provide soy as an alternative milk, or flora as an alternative butter if you ask. The rooms themselves are very clean and comfortable. Good quality linen and towels. A hairdryer is provided, as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cow milk sachets. The location is fabulous, as it’s about 20 minutes walk from the town, out of the noise and traffic. Would recommend a sea view for the sunsets. There is also a Tesco express next door.
Beware of extra charges for parking. And if you want to use the pool, book it before you get there.
Good location for beach and train station and buses food good excellent service rooms could do with a redecoration shower low pressure But we had a very pleasant stay
The hotel is overlooks the sea. Very covid safe. Restaurant not open in the evening. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
Nice hotel, in a great location with really friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly with nearby field for morning/evening walks. Only criticism is the showers Utilise the hot/cold taps and can be a bit difficult to get A nice temperature.
Lovely hotel situated nicely away from town but close enough to walk. Clean, friendly staff, great breakfast and comfortable. Would happily stay again
The parking is horrific, very very tight spaces and if you drive into the small underground car park and can't get a space then you have to reverse back out very carefully. The room is very small and very dated ,the bathroom is clean but when you turn on the shower you only get a trickle of water. On a positive note the bed was comfy.
The staff were nice and helpful. Unfortunately the room as a whole was outdated and looked in need of a revamp, the carpet was old and looked worn out, there was way to cool down the room other than to have the windows open which let in more warm air than cool.
Well Located, on the seafront, just a short walk into town. The Hotel itself is tired and dated hotel in need of refurbishment. The staff were helpful, and given the current climate they did there best to ensure guidelines were followed.
Handling Covid regs very professionally. Great relaxed stay.
Room cleanliness poor, rooms not fully checked between guests and staff not aware how to fix issues. Very noisy hotel with no effective climate control, just noticed not to leave windows open to avoid birds getting in. Food in hotel atrocious, three covers requested with peas, not beans, all served with beans, one omelette clearly had a cranefly embedded in it, staff tried to claim it was a piece of mushroom (the eyes and wings were clearly visible).
Perfectly fine. The rooms are a bit tired and the breakfast was very average, but comfortable enough.
Great hotel and location! I stayed for 2 nights in a double room which even had a sea view. Staff are very friendly and helpful! The hotel is very clean and all the facillities are very good! It was so hard to find a hotel last minute that accepted me to travel together with my pet! The location of the hotel is very good and it is in good proximity of many beaches and some cafes. The room has all the facilities and the hotel swimming pool is very clean. The only little issue that the hotel has is the parking which is very tight and full so it might not always be easy to find a parking space straight away. I would come back to this hotel at any time as this is not such a big issue and I will recommand it to all my friends anf family.
Hotel amenities on ground floor very good, including pool. Hotel in an excellent location. Staff friendly and helpful, with the exception of not being helpful in providing my family with another room due to the shocking view. I was told that a triple room was not available at the front of the hotel, even though I was offered an upgrade for one at an additional cost just before I came to the hotel. Negatives, parking not great, had to park away from the hotel each day and hotel room dated and the view extremely poor over looking a derelict hotel, not what you expect when you are paying on average £153 Per night for a room. You do get frosted glass on the window though as compensation, to give you the feel of staying in a WC.
Shabby old hotel, sea view via a dirty window, smelly room and very thin walls. As well as the road noise and people shouting on the street (even during the night) you can hear everything from the rooms next door. I would never stay at this place again even if it was free.
Staff is very friendly, but... My partner and I stayed for one night. The floors creak very loudly. The person staying in the room above us woke us up at 6am because they were pacing back and forth around their room. If the floors were less creaky, we probably wouldn't have noticed. All of the room's door slam shut loud as well, so every time a person enters or leaves their room, it it heard. Needless to say, we did not have a good night's rest that night.
A lovely little hotel and breakfast was delicious, my only fault was room was very very tiny, bed very uncomfortable and not enough sockets in room (2 spare at dressing table) was unable to plug my cpap machine next to bed as no sockets. Take extension lead. Otherwise I would recommend
