The room was a bit dated, for the price. Didn’t like the only options for dinner were a $90AUD buffet , but pricey for people who don’t eat a lot.

Quite disappointing experience for nearly NZD 600 per night This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have had after many years of booking hotels through Booking.com. I booked a Mount Cook mountain view room and specifically requested a high floor when making the reservation. The hotel replied by email that they would try to accommodate my request. However, upon arrival, I was given a room on the 5th floor, which is actually the lowest guest-room floor (there are no 3rd or 4th floors). Yes, I could technically see the mountains, but the main view was the car park and the rooftops of the lower floors opposite the room. This was certainly not the mountain view I expected when paying nearly NZD 600 per night. I arrived at around 2:00 pm and was told that my room was not ready and that I should come back at 3:00 pm. I completely understood and had no problem waiting until the official check-in time. However, the condescending and unfriendly attitude of the staff member who checked me in made the interaction unnecessarily unpleasant. The room was clean, but the bathroom door was broken which made it quite inconvenient. At nearly NZD 600 per night, the basic hospitality and room conditions is the least a customer shall expect. I strongly recommend that management check the room allocation records for Thursday, September 10, and verify whether all higher-floor rooms had actually been occupied. If higher-floor rooms were available and my clearly stated request was simply ignored, this deserves an explanation from the hotel. Beautiful location, but unfortunately the parking lot view, service and room condition did not meet expectations.

Stunning view from our room on the 9th floor overlooking the mountains. Beautiful room with a great bathroom and facilities. Buffet had great options for everyone.

We had to wait until after our check-in time for our room to be ready which would've normally not been an issue aside from the customer service upon trying to check-in, and the price we paid for said room to not even get an apology for the wait. Unfortunately someone in an opposing room was having a party until after 1am so we were awake for most of the night due to the noise. Our in-room thermostat was not letting us decrease the temperature as it was HOT which meant we were even more restless overnight. Staff were as unenthusiastic upon checkout as check-in.

We had a fascinating Mt Cook view from the window which was great experience. Though my original booking was for room at lower level, reception offered me room at higher level with great mountain view. The bar and restaurant were great for food and ambience. This hotel is fully surrounded by mountains and the road to the hotel is amazing. We felt like we are traveling to another planet.

The restaurant offers only buffet for dinner which is expensive and quite inconvenient if you have limited appetite as there were no other restaurant options nearby. We ended up having snacks in the bar for dinner.

夕食は、ブッフェスタイルでしたが、一品一品結構質が高いと感じました。また、当日は、雪が降り出して、雪景色を見られたのが非常に印象的でした。

博物館だったか有料だったので、やめました（せめて、宿泊客は無料にして欲しかった）。

The view is incredible and we took the glacier tours boat cruise.Unbelievable time.

Restaurant facilities, the staff and the fact that we could sit directly outside our room and admire the spectacular mountains.

Tiny room, no chairs, uneven flooring and cleaning trolleys constantly in the narrow hallway outside our room. The rooms above us were also noisy.

The most amazing view. It was like a painting. Stunning

We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our room. There was a piano you could play in the main area on our level of the hotel. There were some guests that could play beautifully. The Sir Edmund Hillary cafe was a great place to get something to eat and drink while enjoying the view...when it wasn't overcast. The Sir Edmund Hillary museum provided some alternate entertainment in bad weather.

Unfortunately they don't take cash, everything is cashless.

We paid for the great view and loved the view - it’s priceless even if the weather didn’t play the game! The size of the room was also generous, as 4 adults we comfortably shared a room with our adult children.

That only an expensive buffet food option was available for dinner and breakfast. We were prepared as we don’t love buffets so brought food for the room instead and had a great stay, where we enjoyed our meals and views from our room. We did ask for two additional chairs to be brought to the room, this never eventuated we got our own. The hotel staff were friendly but there are no extra touches like help with bags, room service etc..

We got great view from 9th floor and I appreciate they always try to give you the best view in the alpine restaurant. Close to hooker valley track.

The hotel does not have a lot restaurant options (panorama is closed but got advertised in their tv, room) we can only dine in alpine restaurant. As it was raining during our stay, I was trying to find things to do indoor which I realize they have no gym or spa even though they are 4 stars hotel.

This is a 10/10 for the view alone! It's worth it!

Dining options were limited. Only a $90 pp buffet available and $40 for breakfast. If you plan on dining here, note it's expensive. The only other available restaurant is the Mountaineer cafe, which is bar food, pizza, burgers, etc

飯店的早餐、晚餐BUFFET非常難吃，看起來跟吃起來完全不一樣的味道，如果是台灣人請看這則留言，非常不好吃，因為下雨被困在飯店裡也沒別的選擇，他們的cafe好吃一些，真心建議要來的人自己帶泡麵或是庫克山一日遊就好，別住下來!又貴又難吃兩個人晚餐就要接近190紐幣，早餐是這個價格的一半，希望飯店可以改進!!另外房間很小間，但是是乾淨沒有異味的，倒是隔音很不好，會一直聽到樓上的聲音

Had a lovely stay at The Hermitage Hotel in Mount Cook. Our room had a beautiful mountain view, which was definitely one of the highlights of the stay. Unfortunately, it rained almost every day during our visit, so we didn’t get the chance to experience the famous stargazing. 🌧️✨ We did manage to squeeze in a short hike to the Blue Lakes and Tasman Glacier, which was still really beautiful despite the weather. There isn’t a huge amount to do around Mount Cook when the weather isn’t on your side, but if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, quiet and surrounded by nature, this is definitely a place to consider. Perfect for slowing down, relaxing and enjoying the scenery. 🏔️ Would love to come back on a clear day and experience Mount Cook and the night sky properly! ✨

Loved the hotel, lots of things to do within the hotel, amazing views from multiple areas, including in the room. Staff were absolutely amazing and can tell they all love their job and focus on making your stay as wonderful as they can.

The bed! Initially when you sit on it, it feels like the most comfortable & luxurious bed you will ever sit on in your lifetime. However, you’ll soon realise that the middle is a mountain and the edges are slumped, if you plan on sleeping cuddled up to your partner, think again. You’ll be sleeping on different sides of the mountain on the very edge of the bed. Mattresses need to desperately be flipped/turned. Small negative for a very brilliant stay.

Room was exactly what we were hoping for. The snowstorm hit several hours after we arrived so we were limited in what we could do outside on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. We had anticipated that. The lounge areas and restaurants were very good as was the Ed Hillary Cafe.

The bathroom was a bit cramped and the shower very tight. However we coped.

Breakfast was amazing thank you as was dinner

Everything was great Only thing that spoiled our night was the couple next door talking loudly from around 11pm until around 3am even though we let them know! Was not the staffs fault at all!

我都已經脱完衣服準備洗澡，但是反覆嘗試打開熱水，卻始終是冰水。在浴室冷了20～30分鐘。跟櫃檯反應了兩次才安排其他房間洗澡。以致我最終著涼感冒。事後在booking app留言反應飯店管理有問題，也沒得到反饋！

Rooms were small, old, limited. No screens on shower - water want everywhere and tiles extremely slippery

The reception staff lacked a welcoming spirit, even though we had booked a premium room. I told the receptionist I was celebrating my 60th birthday there, and her face was like, "So what?"

Felt like a hostel

You get to stay close to the magnificent Mt. Cook, and that is the point. My room is clean and comfy, and the price is proper. The dining experience in the Alpine Restaurant is mainly on the view.

Food is ok.

The view from the hotel room was just incredible, very relaxing.

Always almost fully booked, but if you managed to book you will be rewarded. Amazing views from hotel rooms in new building facing Mt Cook

Very crowded during dinner time

The view is excellent! Bed is situated to the spacious view!

The location is very convenient for hiking and exploring the nearby walking tracks. Luggage storage is also available, which was very convenient for us.

We booked a mountain-view room, but unfortunately, the trees in front of the balcony had not been trimmed and blocked a significant part of the mountain view. This was quite disappointing, especially since the view was the main reason we chose this room.

The dinner was $89/pp. food wasn’t too great and the overall hotel was rundown. I could hear all the rooms around me. The price is tough considering it is able to hike prices due to the location.

The views and location absolutely spot on. The beautiful open fires and large windows made taking the stunning views a pure pleasure.

The Edmond Hillary museum was over priced for what it had to offer. Being interrupted half way through my dinner to be asked how payment was being done for my drinks. This process really put a damper on the evening. This process should be done when the drink orders are being taken not mid way through a meal. Or at the end of the night. After all of we were to walk out without paying for the drinks they knew my room number. The room was a little dated and felt more like a holiday Inn than a luxury hotel.
