Right in the heart of town
A bit noisy as it was above the pub. The toilet wasn’t very efficient
great location, friendly staff, who waited for us after the pub closed as our train was delayed.
In room 4. Music below went on a bit past closing time. Nothing much really, but I was a woken up once. And I got a bit naughty and rang the bar to tell them to switch it down. Feel a bit guilty about that now, as they are friendly hard working staff. So apologies. Grumpy mood. It’s a nice place.
Great location!

Great value for money, nice place to stay. Staff are great
NA
A very warm welcome from the nice guy behind the bar when we checked in. Really delicious meal with generous helpings. Our room was simple but central to the town and with v enjoyable live band on Saturday evening. Locals evidently support these evenings so again a great atmosphere. Superb breakfast at the adjoining ‘sister’ cafe.
Nothing. It was all great, a rustic pub/ hotel. For anyone with major issues with steps, the flight up to the bedrooms was possibly a bit of a challenge but hopefully they would have asked about access.
Great pub, loved the atmosphere. Good menu and tasty food. Excellent location in the centre of town and short walk from the train station. Team were really friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend.
Accommodation is a little tired but does the job.
Close to relations we were visiting, clean and comfortable
All fine
Location was right in the town centre on the high street. It was a bit noisy with the window open but once the pub shut it was fine. Breakfast in the cafe over the round was great.
Parking was a bit of a problem but we found a long stay car park a short walk away.
Great pub in the centre of Totnes. Nice big room with comfy bed and clean bathroom. Very friendly staff in bar . They do a great deal on meals if you stay ,50%off and food was tasty. We had 50% off brunch too at the Café47 across the street. Live music on a Saturday night was an added bonus.Totnes is a lovely town full of independent shops and cafes.
Room was noisy as above the kitchen , aircon and fridges all night.

Quick and easy check in, good sized room. Good location a relatively short walk from the railway station. Bonus points for leaving four tea bags in the drinks making box, rather than the two most places leave!
The location and friendly staff
The bathroom was tired
I liked the location as it was near to my sisters place, there is no parking but we were able to park at my sisters. The rooms were tidy and mostly clean.
The mould stains in the bathroom on the grout. One window wouldn't stay open so we had to wedge it open with a pillow. We were unable to access the Internet on our devices using the stated details. Upon arriving back at around 10pm there was the most awful, exceptionally loud heavy metal band in the bar. The music was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talking to each other. It did stop at 11pm for which we thankful. Being unable to close the window at this time made it worse. The manager was abrupt and standoffish. Im hard of hearing and I think he was annoyed that he had to repeat himself at one stage. Overall my worst ever overnight stay!
Food excellent....3 evening meals....but too much food on each plate!!
The beds were really uncomfortable....the springs had sprung on my bed
It was very central, loved the view of quirky Totnes high street
It was noisy in the mornings, bin collections but that can’t be helped
Helpful friendly staff. Well set out room. Everything we needed for a short stay. Also good quality pub grub

Location
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. So hard.
Great central location straight into Totnes. The room was clean and the pub staff were friendly. We liked the vouchers for breakfast next door and also for the pub meal. We stayed for several nights and were able to easily get around the town and area. There was a fan in the room which was very welcome as it was during the heatwave (again). Thank you for that!
No car parking, not the pubs fault but we had to walk up to the top car park in North Street - Totnes is very hilly so a bit of a climb! Expensive parking too. Because of the shape of the room we banged our legs on the bed post every time we walked in - took a couple of days to avoid doing this! This is probably just relevant to the room we were in but perhaps a move around would be helpful for those to follow.
Very friendly staff, excellent value for money, particularly with the discount vouchers they provided for dinner and breakfast. Food portions were extremely generous! Too much to eat if anything!
All fine. As it was a hot summer night, we left the windows open, and the seagulls were noisy, but I don't think the King William cam be held responsible for that!!
This was a lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere and excellent beer. We happily returned and spent an hour in the bar before closing time at 11:00. The room (no 1) was large and bright and faced out onto the high street. That did mean some traffic noise early in the morning, but if you are an early riser that's not a problem (though see below). I would recommend the place.
One major problem. Someone started drilling in the downstairs bar and staircase right below the room at 7:15 in the morning. I don't understand how the landlord, knowing he had guests staying just above (and there was at least one other guest) would authorise this? Its just really thoughtless when you have paying guests. Even 8:00 would have been OK, but 7:15 just took the shine off the place.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food and drink in the bar. Excellent location in town centre.
WiFi was good in the bar but not available in the bedroom.
Excellent clean room, great staff. Perfect location with everything you needed on the door step.
Shower was not working properly when I arrived staf were aware and fixed it promptly. Very hot during stay would have been nice to have a fan in room in this heat.
Good base, room was a nice size. Young chap who served me dinner was very pleasant as was the dinner & the 50% discount on the food was very welcome Good tea and coffee facilities with nice sized mugs.
I initially booked a twin room but tried to change it, no response from the property at all in the 10 days before the trip via email. I phoned several times was and told to call back- the person (Jake) was never there to be able to speak to and the answer machine was full therefore no messages could be left. It was quite noisy though expected given the location. Bathroom grout and one of the radiators could do with a deep clean. The mattress next to the window needs replacing as the springs were quite prominent! A fan or 4.5 tog duvet/ light blanket would be a massive improvement.
Excellent location right in the centre of town and easy walk from the train station.
Well located
No hairdryer
Very clean hotel with a great location.
Everything was perfect
Easy check in process, very clean.
Room very small. Lot of noise from pub below/on street at kicking out time, which is on me for not realising pub =noise.
The location is fantastic for the town and only a short walk from the railway and River. The staff from the moment I walked through the door were friendly. The room was clean and safe. The pub was friendly, comfortable and offered a super range of drinks including a very generous happy hour. Their food menu had lots of choice and there was an amazing discount for residents, which I made use of on both nights I was there.
Nothing
Staff were lovely. Food was exceptional value for money as was the room. Location nicely placed in the middle of Totnes main street. Short walk from the station.
Nothing I didn't like i was very happy with my stay. I would say if you like an early night this might not be the right place for you as the pub can be a bit noisy some nights but shuts at 11.
Great location
No car park so did get expensive as we stopped for 3 nights
Great staff and location
Great location in a wonderful place
Live music went on very late
Location very convenient for watching a gig nearby. Clean rooms with all amenities you need.
Bed was a bit low
Rooms were clean and tidy, bed was comfortable. Price per night was very good. Staff warned us in advance they had a live band till 11.30 and true to their work at 11.30 band stopped didn't hear much more noise after that even with people leaving We had keys to the side door in case we got back after they shut and for extra security,we had a key to get onto the landing and then key for the rooms Had a light meal in the pub, cheese ploughmans with warm bread, side order of chips and homemade quiche and potatos with salad, all fresh tasting and reasonably priced for a tourist area. Staff were very friendly
Nothing about the hotel, but some help before hand about where to park and how much it is would be helpful so you have an idea what to do as Totnes is a minefield of one ways and cars stopping and starting 😆 Worked out that parking on the main street is for 1 hour Mon-Sat 8am-6pm so if you're there from 5pm on a Saturday you can pay the £1 for an hour and leave the car there all day Sunday if needed
Just an EXCELLENT place to stay…for many reasons! Perfect, central location, fantastic room and facilities easily available. Supportive and friendly staff members as well as delicious food! Thankyou VERY much xx
Loved the pub, location, room, and staff especially Jake was wonderful, lovely, friendly, helpful guy, food was exceptional too, definitely recommend
Nothing
Excellent value for money, easy check-in, and check out. Food was excellent and value for money. Staff were very friendly. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in great location for all tourist spots. Will definitely use it again and highly recommend.
No bad points
Welcoming staff, good pub, great location. Thank you to guy who checked us in and stored our case on Sunday, really helpful. The live music on Saturday was also pretty good. Cheers
Nothing
Accommodation was very good and the food which we had was excellent.
The bedroom was extremely hot and there was no fan provided but that was rectified later.
Central location. Nice big room with good natural light and opening windows. Walking distance from the train station.
A privacy net at the bathroom window would have meant you didn't need to pull across the curtain which then cut out the natural light.

Great pub in a brilliant position .our room was very comfortable and quiet .we used Brutus street carpark on just park and it was an ideal location for the pub .
Nothing
Warm and welcoming and such a great location for all the town. Peaceful despite being in the high street and very comfy rooms. Easy check in and access to rooms safe and secure but without having to go through the bar which was ideal.
All great indeeed
Stayed for 4 nights. Very good value for money. Excellent location in centre of Totnes - both railway and bus connections 5min walk.. 50% discount on food in hotel lounge bar and 47CafeBar across the road (breakfast). Both room and lounge bar have a 'nice feel'.
Rooms are above lounge bar, so slight background noise later in evening. However bar closes at 11pm every night, so quiet thereafter.
Very convenient town centre pub with rooms above. No car parking, but a short walk away was Old Brutus car park
Nothing I didn’t like
A family run pub in an central and excellent location in Totnes town. The bonus of 50% off food at the pub and the cafe across the road was a very welcome surprise. Both dinner at the pub and breakfast at the cafe was excellent, the staff were friendly and hard working.
The bed could of been a little softer but that would be my only negative.
The check in was via the bar which was easy and straight forward. Rooms are bright with natural light, clean and spacious. Cleaning lady was helpful. Location right in centre of town. No actual parking but carpark only 100m away and seemed reasonable for 24hours. We didn't have breakfast included but the pub owns the cafe over the road and we received a discount for eating there - very nice food with good options.
Just for others to be aware - there is no lift and a few stairs up to the rooms and if staying in rooms 4 and 5 then a couple of fire doors to also get through with luggage. Sound from the pub below could be annoying during the weekends but for me it was quiet by 10pm.
Beds were really comfortable and spacious
The shower was probably the worst I've ever had.
Staff were friendly and polite. Room was good and clean.
Lovely staff, clean room, great location
Late singing downstairs on Saturday, head a bit uncomfy but all good value.
We didnt eat there but drinks were great and staff helpful. It was good enough for one night 🌙. Thank you for the stay.
Mattress was uncomfortable and pillows offered no support. Bathroom was dated and shower cubicle small.
Room very clean and comfortable
The noise- music till late one night and quiz the second night. Beer barrels arrived at 6.30am
Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and had half price January offer.
Bathroom was very tight and the bed not too comfortable . Very small room. . No parking so had to check on ticket several times at public car park.
No breakfast
The hotel is right in the centre of town which was very convenient. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable and had all that I needed for one night's stay.
Breakfast not served until 10am so I had to go elsewhere
No breakfast option
Nothing
Pub at the centre of Totnes and good value for money.
As the rooms are just above the pub, it can be noisy in the evening but TBF, it wasn't that bad
Nice location, comfy bed
Room too hot, can hear the drone of a fridge or a boiler, water pressure in shower was awful
Good nights sleep nice staff
Nothing
Great location lovely pub downstairs
Beds not too comfy
Location amazing in town centre.
Nice area
Room not that clean. Cob webs around the room. Spiders in the window. Water temperature very low. And stains in room
Lovely clean room Very nice polite staff
Convenient, clean, everything we needed
Central location, good food & drink in the pub below
Nothing
