Beautiful rooms over the harbour, small steep staircases. Comfortable, excellent bathrooms. An excellent breakfast.
Nothing
Location was great. Character English pub accomodation in popular seaside town
A perfect location
The hotel felt tired, with peeling paint, scuffed walls, and a stained ironing board cover in our room.
Great location in Padstow, lovely room with view to the harbour, we liked the atmosphere. Breakfast was very good, staff friendly. Parking possibility was close
The Old Custom House is located right in the town centre, directly by the charming harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room wasn't large, but it was cosy and tastefully decorated. Everything about this lovely hotel was spot on: incredibly friendly staff, a nice pub, and a delicious breakfast the next morning. Perfect!
Location was perfect, affordable parking nearby. Room was large with views across the harbour. The bar downstairs was very nice and breakfast had lots of choices both cooked and continental selection. Room and communal areas, corridors, seating areas were clean and uncluttered. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Staff said check in time was 4pm not 3pm as on our confirmation, didn’t cause a problem as our room was ready but would be good to make clear when booking.
Clean and comfortable accommodation and a tasty breakfast
Excellent location
Run down, old dirty carpet and quite poor breakfast.
Perfekte Lage, typisch englisches Pub, sehr freundliches Personal und gutes Essen.
Lovely building, cute rooms, extremely kind and hospitable hosts, and a tasty breakfast! A great stop on the SWCP for a walker.
It’s a nice hotel/pub. But EXCEPTIONALLY overpriced. We paid £260 which is a lot even for Cornwall.
Fantastic location, loved the Old Custom House, so much character, our room location was excellent with an wonderful harbour view, the breakfast served in the restaurant was superb.
The late check-in time of 4pm did cause us a problem as we arrived at 2.15pm, reception allowed us to leave our case with them but there was no secure area for luggage with case just left in a public access conservatory next to an open external door. A major plus point after we let our luggage was the receptionist telephoned us to say our room was available at about 3.15pm
Top location. We had a view over the harbour from a spacious, comfortable room. The breakfast choice was superb, apart from Black Pudding being supplanted by Cornish Hog's Pudding on the Full English. We were also able to park our car right opposite for the three days of our Cornish Saints Way walk.
Nothing.
Fantastic location, staff very friendly and food was excellent
Its location
Paid for breakfast, no staff available in the morning and no sign they were serving. Left and paid for a further meal
Excellent location in the heart of the harbourside. Beautiful view of Padstow harbour from our bedroom window.
The decor and furnishings felt tired and needed a spruce up.
super Lage am Hafen
nichts zu noergeln
The Old Custom House is about as central to Padstow as central is , we had a great room overlooking the harbour , breakfast was excellent and it was exactly what i was looking for. The staff were all lovely - as were most of the people in Padstow . All of the best restaurants were a short walk ( minutes ) away , as is the ferry over to rock . We hired cycles and did the full camel trail which was a great day out and recommended if you like cycling ( all flat ! ) 😊 we would 100% stay again
Our room was lovely , but ready for the modernisation due to start in the new year, im not complaining though as it did not affect our stay whatsoever
Location was great, and meals were good when it arrived.
Staff never write your order down for evening meal and breakfast. Hence, things were wrong. It took 1hr 30 mins for our evening meal as well as 2 other tables, one being 2 hours late, both were given discounts but not us ?. Room on arrival late great till you settled in and noticed issues, stain on ceiling issues with texture on ceiling, oaint chips, furniture needs attention, owner said she didn't know of any issues reported from night before, and would look into it, but having read other reviews fell on deaf ears. We felt it overpriced, as we had stayed in better for less.
Absolutely everything about this hotel,
The fact we were only there 2 days 😢
The room was beautiful and had a wonderful view of Padstow Harbour
It woudl have been good to have a safe, we had no reason to doubt security but just for peace of mind.
Perfect location, room was nice with a view to the harbour. Bed was comfy and breakfast was really nice. The reception, bar staff and breakfast ladies were all very welcoming and polite and made you feel comfortable.
Room 22 , several stairs to climb and right next to a pub. The pub played music up to and past midnight. The receptionist apologised on their behalf and said they should finish at 11
Very helpful staff. The room was huge compared to many and had a great view. Super convenient and close to parking.
Nothing I can think of.
Great Location
Type of room could be clearer at booking stage
Sehr Gerne wieder..

What a view! Lovely room and a perfect location.

We arrived at the hotel mid morning, and was warmly greeted by Amy, at the reception. She apologised that the room wasn’t yet ready, which was totally acceptable as check-in wasn’t until 3pm. I happened to mention that it was my husband’s 70th birthday, and when we arrived back to our room at 2pm (which she kindly texted us to tell us it was ready) there was a bottle of prosecco and a birthday card from hotel team. We were so touched by the kind gesture. The room was lovely and comfortable, with plenty of tea bags, and milk etc, plus biscuits. We had a gorgeous view of the harbour too. We ate in the restaurant that evening, the meal was very good, and the staff were all so in friendly and made sure we had all we needed, and were happy with everything. We had breakfast the next morning, again was very good, as were all the staff too. When we arrived home I realised we had left all my husband’s birthday cards behind. Luckily the staff had found them, and Amy said she would post them to us, free of charge. Again, we were touched by her kindness, and so grateful to her for being so helpful and understanding. She really did go above and beyond her duties. Thank you so very much.
We liked everything.
Have stayed there numerous times, still the best locatin in Padstow
Overlooking the harbour
Eventuell kleinere Instandhaltungs-/Renovierungsarbeiten wären angebracht (z.B.
The staff team all seemed to work well together. Friendly and very helpful towards us. Went out of way to be helpful. A packed breakfast was provided, which was outstanding for our early start walking.
The condition of the room we had didn't match our expectations or the price we paid; this however was dealt with and feel we were heard and had our standards met. Happy to recommend now!
Location ! Our room was beautiful. Staff friendly and helpful . Really looking forward to returning next month .

Apartman je bio fantastičan!
Hrana u pubu bi mogla biti bolja
Pubben/hotellet lå perfekt i byens centrum.
Arrived to realise I had booked our room on a busy weekend for a year ahead! The reception staff were helpful and managed to look after us for the first evening. Rooms are simple but clean. Beware, you will need to climb (steep) stairs to your room but that adds to the charm. The setting is lovely by the small marina and in the heart of Padstow. Breakfast a little mixed with an upgrade needed on the (vital) morning tea and coffee.
Very satisfied with our room ,staff friendly and helpful.
We booked table for dinner in the restaurant 18.30, although only one table occupied we were seated at 18.50 .. 19.10 we left to eat elsewhere as not been served even for a drink. Such a shame as other restaurants locally were packed..
Nothing
The whole trip - would not recommend
Excellent location in the heart of the town. Perfect for walking to drinks or dinner. Parking available across the road from the hotel.
It was an ideal location
The staff were very friendly but at times were very slow in serving
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, very good breakfast
Ageing nature of rooms (although understand they are refurbishing in the winter)
Staff very helfpful and pleasant. Excellent location. Nice food.
At £240 per night, the room was astonishingly expensive and poor value for money. The room definitely needs a refresh, could do with a lick of paint to brighten it up. No views. Above or next to us was a venue where we could hear live singing late at night preventing us from sleeping. Large spill stains on the carpet. No bath. No onsite parking facilities. Had to use the local car park which was £10 per day. If we had stayed longer it would have worked out very expensive. Food was good but expensive. £30. for seabass and £14.00 for 4 scallops.
Loved the location, the food and the rooms.
Nothing!
Lovely view from our room
Did not like staying for just one night, would have liked longer, but had to move on!!
The location and views from our room were excellent. Pictures from the room included.
There wasn't anything we really didn't like.
View
Needed refurbishing. Rust and wallpaper unstuck in bathroom. Pillows too low. Breakfast not great. Expensive wine. 2 glasses for £29, cheaper at Rick Steins earlier.
Please is full of character and has a great history We booked a Harbour View Signature Room - but beware - the Signature rooms are all different - but currently the same price! Might be a good idea to have a different pricing structure for the various Signature rooms… The hotel is slightly tired but due for a massive revamp early 2027 - would love to return!
Beds were way too soft - felt like a water bed! Quite a few stairs - it’s an old place so don’t expect a lift! Help given with luggage.
Location is fantastic with parking nearby.
Excellent location, good food and service
Our room was above the outdoor seating area of the pub next door so it was very noisy until about 11.30 each night. Wasn't too much of a problem for us, but it would be if you wanted an early night!
Room breakfast
Parking
Location great. Well stocked tea/coffee etc in rooms. It has a bath. Bed nice and comfy. Good breakfast
Bath plug didn’t fit
We planned to eat lunch at lunchtime which was ambitious but it seems the management couldn’t plan to stock enough food so we ate at the fish n chip shop overlooking the harbour. Turned out a better bet too. Thanks.
Location, staff friendliness
Could do with a bit of money spending on upgrading decoration in some areas
Brilliant location and amazing managers and staff. Special thanks Ellie and Paul (big up the north ) xx
Lovely location, comfy bed and large room. Friendly staff and they allowed us to store our e-bikes safely for night.
Some parts need updating but apparently it is going to be closed over winter for a total refurbishment.
Bel edificio storico e gentile l’accoglienza.
Unfortunately, I can only give ann overall Average. We booked the deluxe suite, which was extremely disappointing after having seen the website photos. It was dark with very tired furniture and decor, peeling paint and weak shower pressure. However, bed linen was good and it had all the facilities you would need. Staff helpfulness varied and breakfast quality was once again average.
Excellent and helpful staff. Great location!
Room 25 was up 44 stairs, loud and oppressively hot and loud. Fortunately the staff was kind enough to move us for the second night.
Booked a last minute break away in Padstow and thought we try The Old Custom House as have stayed in several St Austell venues before. On this occasion we were disappointed that it didn't stand up to the usual standards. Room was at the back with very little light. It also felt very tired and in need of refurbishment. Hopefully this will be addressed soon as we were quite surprised how poor it was compared to their other sites.
Locatie, sfeer, ruime kamer, goed bed
Good location, good breakfast
Our room had no water from the sink ...not acceptable. The waiting staff at breakfast need more training ...a bit chaotic. The room was at the side and extremely noisy ...near a pub etc that had a band on and it was so loud I thought they were playing in our room! Did not get to sleep till 1am...thank goodness we did not have children with us.
The team were really welcoming and helpful. Even sorting me a take away breakfast as I was leaving at 6am to walk before the heat.
A tale of two halves. Was assigned a fairly grotty room at the back, overlooking the extraction system for the kitchen. In fitness, when I complained the following morning, they moved (and upgraded) me for my second night to a lovely room at the front overlooking the harbour. I thought the food in the restaurant was very good, and that was on the first night when I was in poor form about the grotty room, so it must have been properly good!
Comfy room , plenty of storage , great b/ fasts & friendly staff .
Water pressure bit low in shower
Location right on the harbour could not have been better. Staff were all really pleasant, friendly and helpful. Ellie went out of her way to help us with before and during our stay, she runs the place brilliantly. Good cooked breakfast options all cooked very well. Parking immediately across the road in public car park was £10/ day which given the location and demand for parking is not too bad.
Very small issue that the room was a little tired out. It did not detract from our overall experience and was fresh and clean.
Kim was fantastic funny, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and had great recommendations. Excellent service with a smile she’s a real credit to the team!
Great location. Large room with fabulous view.
Tired furnishings, bed not great. But it is about to be renovated so I imagine it will be great after this.
Kim was absolutely brilliant! She looked after us so well, had us laughing throughout. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely funny, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for making our visit so memorable, Kim!
Zentrale Lage
Clearly a fab location and the staff throughout were very friendly and helpful. Also a fab breakfast menu.
We have visited the pub on several occasions but not stayed over for a number of years. The location of the room was fab however they do need a little uplift and possible redecoration.
Characterful property, location was amazing, overlooking the harbour, parking although not free was very easy in a very reasonably priced car park opposite. good bar and restaurant facilities, plentiful breakfast.
The small things - outside of our part of the building was tired, window frames needed painting, window needed cleaning, lightbulb needed changing, curtain needed hooking onto rail properly, bed was uncomfortable / too soft, wardrobe door couldn't open fully as bed frame too close to it, carpets a bit old. Great character but in need of some modernisation, also quite expensive.
The room had a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The breakfast was superb and all the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Unfortunately the pub next to The Old Custom House holds live music gigs and on Saturday night the music went on until 11.30pm. It was incredibly loud in our room even with the windows shut. Not the fault of The Old Custom House but even so ....
Lovely reception staff. Excellent location in the centre of town. Good breakfast and nice to have a nice bar and restaurant with good food in the day/evening.
Nothing really
Room was grand but wasn’t vacuumed during our 4 night stay. Breakfast was good and staff were so friendly and helpful. Location was perfect right in the centre.
Room could have been vacuumed daily when it was cleaned. Our iPod went missing we searched everywhere as did a staff member but it never showed up.
Excellent location and helpful and friendly staff.
Nil
Location
Uneven floors in the room and a very old bed/mattress. WiFi unreliable and very limited channels on TV. Whoever was resetting the room managed to flood the table by knocking the water holder on the coffee machine; meaning my books, car key, tablets and glasses case were left sitting in a pool of water all day.
Great location close to pubs and restaurants.
A bit old and in need of some refurbishment.
because of illness we tried to cancel our booking well within the agreed time limit we were met with the most unhelpful process and I believe there were untruths about who we booked with. we were mislead and a refusal to pay back agreed fee less cancelation fee was not forthcoming unless we contacted a non existent provider it felt like a con please avoid if you have doubts about your stay
Great location
Lots of stairs and creaky floors
I really don’t know what to say I was expecting a lot more for my money Hotel was dated and needed a good clean carpets were grubby and the room we had was over the delivery area from 07.00am both days we were woken up by doors slamming
Quite a lot
My room was the dingiest room I've stayed in for decades. The paint was chipped and peeling, the lampshade was worn, the desk chair upholstery had nasty stains on it. This was very disappointing and overall the room felt quite dirty. But bathroom was clean and everything functioned. I knew I was in for a less-than-sanitary stay when I saw a long streak of bird poop on the pub entry doors. The carpet in the lobby was worn and stained. However, staff was friendly and cheerful and the breakfast was good.
The location is amazing. The customer service is excellent and the breakfast was very good
There wasn't anything we didn't like. Everything was very good.
Great location. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. Quality bedlinen. Delicious breakfast. Lovely staff. Cheerful and friendly.
The building is old - made up of several buildings and the interior is a bit of a maze inside as a result. Corridors and stairs are dingy with well worn carpets. Our room (number 2) was clean but 'tired' - creaky windows and faded curtains, but whole pub / hotel is scheduled for a full refurbishment next autumn / winter and I look forward to visiting again next year.
The location of the hotel is superb - right at the edge of the harbour in the centre of the village. The room was larger than expected, tastefully decorated with a spectacular view over the harbour and estuary beyond. Breakfast was served at the table and was excellent.
Parking is hit and miss - we arrived on a busy bank holiday weekend and the public car park directly opposite the hotel indicated it was full but we were lucky to get a space as someone left. Had that not been the case it is quite a long walk with luggage to the next car park.
great location although car parking can be difficult and is paid to third party
TV reception dropping out needs better system
Nichts!
Eine Andere Berwertung zu diesem Raum: Utterly filthy and not up to any * standard let alone a 4* standard Bewertet mit 1,0 1,0 Nothing. Filthy, grimy, grim, dark. Our room (em 17) had wallpaper peeling from the ceiling, chipped and worn paintwork, the window frame was rotting, the window pane was filthy, mould on the walls, cobwebs on the inadequate and dated light fitting, dust on the socket, dust floating from the picture frame, the door to the room we were allocated didn’t close properly. The carpet was old and dirty. The room was painted dark green. We left 2 hours after checking in.
Amazing location, lovely large room with everything you could need. Very clean and tidy. The bed was super comfy and very large, it was a very nice stay and would love to return. Breakfast was also lovely, lots of options and cooked very well, high quality!
The room was very warm and the light drenched the bedroom at 5am. It would be amazing if the property had black out blinds made to fit the windows to offer a more comfortable nights sleep during the summer months. The water pressure in the shower was also really poor. Despite these very small things we would high recommend the hotel. These things are more feedback rather than things we ‘didn’t like’
Great location, lovely staff. The hotel has a fine restaurant and nice breakfast.
The rooms were a bit stuffy, warm. In our room there was a strong kitchen smell
Very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. The cooked breakfast selection was excellent. There could have been a better selection of fresh fruit to start with. There were fresh strawberries for three days and then none! The positioning of the hotel was great
Obviously, when one is 80+ the lack of a lift to our floor (2) was challenging, Bit noisy at the weekend.
Beautiful big room Sea view Great doggy treats for our boy! Music didn't stop until around the 11 mark just after. So loud but we understood as it was front of house above bar.
Carpet bit past it Coffee machine definitely leaks and has blown all the sideboard it's sitting on.
Excellent location in heart of Padstow very friendly staff cant wait to return
Location , room , and facilities
Bar and restaurant a little tired
