The property is set in wonderful surroundings and is tastefully furnished and decorated with beautiful African art. Our room was spacious and equipped with everything you could need. When we visited the whole area was badly affected by stormy weather and had no electricity or communication. The staff and management did everything they could to make us comfortable despite the adverse conditions and still managed to serve us with delicious food at dinner and breakfast. I would rate this property as exceptional for service,comfort, fine dining and beautiful surroundings.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr abgelegen. Alternativen zum Abendessen mind. 15 Autominuten entfernt. Das Essen im Hotel ist eher durchschnittlich. Die Anlage ist etwas vernachlässigt. Buchstaben vom Eingangsschild sind abgefallen. Der Garten scheint seit einiger Zeit nicht gepflegt worden zu sein. In unserem Zimmer gab es keine Trennung vom Schlafen/Wohnen zur Toilette. Von der Badewanne waren die Stopfen entfernt, damit man nicht durch Baden zuviel Wasser verbrauchen sollte. Das wäre nicht notwendig gewesen, denn aus der Leitung kam nur gelbbraunes Wasser.

Eine wunderbare Unterkunft mit einem super Frühstück. Idylle pur mit Blick zu einem Seerosenteich. Das Personal war super nett und hat bei der Tagesplanung mitgeholfen. Die Besitzerin hat uns sofort einen Golftermin gebucht. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

If I have to criticise anything it would be the uneven path to the room. It was difficult trundling wheeled suitcase to the room. However, a smooth concrete path would not be in keeping!

The property is well situated for Natures Valley where we enjoyed a couple of day hikes and the Beach restaurant there is very good and only a 10 min drive away. Breakfast was very nicely cooked with buffet options too and in the outdoors although with no real outlook as its facing the front of the property. The dining room used to serve dinner overlooks the lily pond and the outlook and terrace we think would make a nicer place to offer breakfast from. Dinner is a fixed formal affair of 4 courses serves from 7.00pm and everyone is served together for each course which can make for a long sitting. The chef is very good and the food nicely presented even if the service isn't the same for all guests. Our room was nicely presented and serviced and Margaret was very helpful in providing a map for the hikes on our first morning.

The outlook on the lily pond at the property is really lovely but sadly our stay was spoilt by noisy neighbours for 2 of our 3 nights! The garden rooms are small and very close together and there is limited chance to escape the noise ad cigarette smoke in the late evening if guests sit outside their room rather than in the social spaces available. Our neighbours did this even though we asked them politely to lower their voices! One of the waitresses at dinner also spoilt our dining experience on both evenings we dined there. She told us on the first evening, that their priority is to look after repeat visitors and its these visitors that are offered the dining table in the windows when we asked to be seated at one. This was a disappointing response and unexpected as we've never come across this behaviour before. It's a shame how easily a stay can be spoilt. Shame as our stay should have been excellent as its a more expensive option, but sadly it missed the mark for us. We wished we'd stayed for 2 nights only, as it didn't meet our expectations on this occasion.

Quiet, well placed location in beautiful garden surroundings. Rooms private and well positioned, spacious. Service was professional, authentic, friendly and very attentive to special requests. Breakfast nicely proportioned and plenty of choices. Dinners were absolutely delicious and thank you to Bronwan, Megan and team for putting on a special dinner for our special occasion. Staff were terrific - Deon, Cameron, Carol, those already mentioned and the rest of the team. We enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended. Hope to be back some time.

Amazing location, beautiful surroundings and exceptional staff! Our room was very comfortable and you really just wanted to spend time at the lodge relaxing rather than exploring the area. Highly recommend!

Super schönes Zimmer gehabt mit direkten Blick auf den Teich. Nr2 hat die schönste Aussicht! Es war sehr ruhig, die Nahe Strasse hat man nachts nicht gehört. Alles wunderschön dekoriert, im Instagram Stil. Sehr hübsch anzusehen. Die Eierspeisen, die aus der Küche kommen am Morgen sind richtig gut!

Wir waren fünf Nächte dort. An den ersten zwei Tagen war jede Menge Sediment im Pool. Nach der dritten Nacht war ein Pool boy da und hat sauber gemacht. Danach das ganze Sediment aufgewirbelt und im Pool verteilt. Es nur noch möglich, die erste Eingang ufe zu sehen. Ein Pool, in denen ich nie hineingegangen bin. Die Bettwäsche war zwar schön anzusehen, aber kratzig. Von den vielen Unterkünften auf unserer Reise hatten wir hier das schlechteste Frühstück. Ich hatte mich auf das Essen im Restaurant gefreut aufgrund der vielen Bewertungen. Leider hat im September der Koch gewechselt und nach dem ersten Abend haben wir beschlossen, woanders Essen zu gehen🥹 Das WLAN ist eine einzige Katastrophe. Ich habe in den letzten zehn Jahren in keinem einzigen Hotel so ein schlechtes Internet vorgefunden🙈

Very lovely boutique hotel. The decoration is out of this world, truly inspiring and fascinating! Precious garden built around their lily pond. Very stylish in a subtle way. Bronwan, the manager was very accommodating and friendly. Also be sure to book their gourmet dinner, the cook deserves five stars!

Camera spaziosa e dotata di tutti i comfort, arredamento in stile afro molto raffinato e armonioso con il contesto. Bella la piscina, anche se in inverno non abbiamo potuto usufruirne. Cena ottima, con prezzi più alti della media, ma adeguati alla qualità dei cibi. Colazione ottima, il miglior espresso in Sudafrica.

Lily Pond was our final stop on the Garden Route before heading to a safari and it was stunning. From the moment we arrived it was obviously somewhere we were going to really enjoy spending time and just being able to relax. Our room was great, as were all of the staff who were so friendly and welcoming - but the highlight for us has to be the food. Lily Pond is easily the best food we have ever eaten at a hotel. We were sadly only there for two nights, but every single dish served to us was a delight. We were truly sad to read the menu on the day we left knowing we wouldn't be there for dinner again! The fantastic chef was also a great host who would come and say hello to everybody during the meals and the front of house staff were all great too - definitely one of the highlights of our trip, thank you all!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are very big and so comfortable. Beautiful gardens. The food at the restaurant was truly delicious. I highly recommend this hotel

Lily Pond has a beautiful setting, very friendly and helpful staff and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast as well. It was perfectly located to attend a wedding close by. The location is also very close to wine farms and beautiful Plettenberg bay and Nature’s Valley.

The open toilet is sometimes difficult and would have loved more space to place items without it having to stand on the floor, but other than that the rooms were lovely.

Absolutely beautiful Lodge, staff who couldn’t do enough for us, large and comfortable room, stunning pool area and grounds. We were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves, and we were in heaven. Randall is an exceptionally talented chef and the food was incredible. Thank you!!

The location is well located for Nature's Valley and the beautiful beach just down the road from the Lily Pond (short drive) and all the activities that are available in the area of the Crags. The provided breakfast is excellent, while the evening cuisine is extremely good. The staff are all lovely and extremely helpful. We will return.

Beautiful tranquil location with nice room overlooking the pond. Unbelievable staff and I mean unbelievable. Attentive; friendly; knowledgeable. Dinner was spectacular and I recommend it. Overall a 6* experience. Load shedding was not impactful.

Waking up to the sound of birds and falling asleep under a starry sky while enjoying discreet luxury was a real delight. We would like to extend our special thanks to Caroll and Bronwan for their availability and attentive listening. Thanks to their valuable advice, we were able to explore the region in a unique and authentic way. Their in-depth knowledge of the area and their sense of hospitality greatly contributed to the quality of our stay. Breakfasts were a treat every morning, with a variety of fresh and delicious choices. As for the dinners, they were simply sublime, a big thank you to Randall for his culinary talents. Each meal was an experience in itself, combining local flavors and creative touches. We also enjoyed the moments spent with the servers, whose humor and friendliness added a light and joyful note to our evenings. The location is super peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. Very pleasant staff and helpful.

The Internet kept breaking but was being fixed and the load shedding meant that there were times during the day or night without electricity. This also means no water for toilets.

Loved the setting and the friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Bronwan, the Manager was so helpful. Randall the Chef and Elsabe his Assistant Chef provided us with a wonderful meal and service. Fires were lit and rooms warmed in advance of our arrival as it was a cool evening. The grounds, pool and pond were beautiful. Room was spacious, beautifully fitted out and opened onto a deck area overlooking the pond. Honesty bar in each room. We will definitely return for longer when the sun shines.

The Lily Pond is an oasis of tranquility, the rooms are very spacious and have great amenities. The staff working there were very friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend this place to anyone doing the Garden Route.

Je dois manger sans gluten, c'est le seul et unique endroit où le chef cuisinier à eu plein d'intentions pour que je puisse profiter pleinement de mon séjour. Petit muffin sans gluten au petit déjeuner, idem pour les repas du soir, entrée plat dessert sans gluten. Je le remercie vivement pour cela. Accueil chaleureux. Rien à redire, endroit au calme exceptionnel, personnel discret et gentil. Bravo à tous

Very friendly and attending staff. Ww rented the Suite which was very nice decorated and with comfortable beds. We specifically enjoyed the outdoor shower.

I found there was not enough lighting in the bathroom. I had to plug the hairdryer into the socket in the bathroom as it was the only one near to a mirror.

What a stunning property, and amazing couple who own and run it. We loved our stay and cannot wait to visit once again - 2 nights was just too short. On a side note - the beds were like sleeping on a cloud.

I loved my stay at Lily Pond. Beautiful grounds and pond. Incredible bird life, singing frogs and absolutely no traffic noise to disturb the peace and tranquility. My accommodation was well appointed, comfortable, spacious and modern - I loved it. Niels and Margaret (owners/managers) were attentive, gracious and genuinely friendly hosts. I chose to have dinners at Lily Pond too - they were mouth-wateringly delicious! This place is a winner and I will be back very soon.

Die Lodge ist sehr schön, vor allem der Blick vom Zimmer auf den Lilienteich ist fantastisch. Die Lodge wird von einem sehr kommunikativen, freundlichen und diskussionsfreudigem holländischen Päarchen geführt. Beide sind um ihre Gäste sehr bemüht und hilfsbereit. Zum dinner hat man abends die Wahl zwischen einem vegetarischen Menü oder Fleisch/Fischmenü (3 Gänge). Das dinner ist sehr gut organisiert und lecker. Von der Lodge sind es ca. 6 km bis zum Strand von Nature Valley.

My wife and I found the staff and our hosts to be very welcoming and extremely helpful. It was a real pleasure to stay at the Lily Pond Country Lodge. The Baboons wandering around the extremities of the grounds took us by surprise at first but on being assured that they were safe we enjoyed the experience. The rooms were large, high quality and very comfortable although the open plan nature of the bedroom and bathroom was not what we would have chosen..

It is not difficult to see why Lily Pond gets consistently good reviews. Such consistent reviews don’t just happen - they are testament to the professionalism and efforts of the owners, Niels and Margaret. Refreshing to see such hands on owners who have also trained their staff to their own high standards. Everything runs smoothly and apparently effortlessly but that only comes with excellent ownership/management. Spotlessly clean, very stylish with great attention to detail, excellent food and staff - could have taken Faith home with me for her smile and personality. Niels and Margaret you deserve your success - thank you. To anyone reading this I can highly recommend Lily Pond and would definitely stay again if in the area. Car wash was a nice extra touch!!
