Hotel staff was pleasant, helpful and the room was very roomy and comfortable.

It was great for us traveling with 2 large dogs. They had accommodations away from the main building which was perfect. The breakfast was terrific and the best tasting coffee! Nice room with a water view. Friendly and informed staff. Really enjoyed our time there and have shared info with family and other fellow pet owners. Added to our "places to return to" list :)

I wish the staff could’ve done a better job cleaning the room. We saw some dry hair stuck in the bathroom wall. The next morning, we tried to make drip coffee and found out that the carafe from the coffee maker was broken. Coffee ended up leaking in the tray.

The smell of mold and musty.....they may have had some flooding as there has been serious rainfall prior to us showing up.....the doors in the room are very old and looked dirty...the internal door looked flimsy....the bathroom very small and had a smell and no place to hang a wet towel or face cloth which was annoying.....no towel bars at all....one of the lights by the bed didn't work....husband tried to use the coffee machine but it stopped working half way through....just overall didn't enjoy the room

Location at the end of Cabot Trail circle, proximity to Alexander Graham Bell Museum, wonderful view from our room and deck, excellent b'fast with a stellar view from the dining room! Would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting this part of Cape Breton.

Water view from our room. The breakfast served plenty variety of food ex: the scrambled eggs were the best. Restaurant has a water view while to you sit and sip your coffee. I understand some rooms may need some attention. Overall it served us well.

rooms were dated , the smell of the lake was atrocious, there was a trampoline in the back yard where our view of the lake was and the trampoline was dilapidated and an eye sore. The location was good for exploring the Cabot Trail and within 12 minutes from Baddeck for restaurants.

The room was not well set up. It was uncomfortable. The blinds didn't cover the windows well so there was alot of light at night. Highway noise is quite loud all night. I didn't sleep well here. There were 2 chairs but no small table of any kind if you are wanting to eat take out or snacks. The beds were quite firm. I wouldn't recommend this motel.

The room smelt musty with looks to be water damaged on the ceiling and the door lock seemed questionable. The bathroom sink isn't big enough so water goes everywhere. A lot of random clutter outside. It definitely wasn't worth it for the price.

Breakfast was great with a great view over the lake. The staff was exceptionally friendly and were very attentive to any questions or concerns. Room view was great and would definitely recommend this place to future travellers.

You had to go into town about 5 miles away to find a restaurant.

The bad smell in the hallways is due to the use of poor-quality chemicals. During breakfast, a man who told me he was the owner stayed the whole time, watching what the guests were eating. He stood right by the breakfast tables, and the quality of the breakfast was very poor.

The room was run down. The fire alarm device was hanging from the ceiling. There were no rods in the toilet tissue holder or town rack. It was a run down old room. Very disappointing.

We liked the location, especially the view of the lake. The pool was a good size and deep enough for swimming, and the kids enjoyed the trampoline. Overall, the property had some nice amenities and was a comfortable place to stay.

There were a few things we were not very happy with. It felt like there were additional charges for almost everything, including laundry detergent. The laundry was quite expensive compared to other motels — $6 for washing and drying, while we have paid around $2–3 elsewhere. The dryer also only ran for 30 minutes, which was not enough, so additional tokens were needed. We also asked one staff member if it would be possible to move to a room facing the lake. We were told that they would try to arrange it for the following day. However, when we came to change rooms, a different staff member charged us an additional $20, which had not been mentioned beforehand and came as a surprise. The new room also did not have a refrigerator or microwave, even though these amenities were available in the original room. The hotel has clearly been renovated, but the breakfast selection was quite limited. A lot of the food was very greasy or overcooked, and the kitchen area did not give the impression of being particularly clean. For example, the hash browns were very greasy and the bacon was overcooked.

They are very friendly an accommodating. I had to extend my stay 1 night when my husband was involved in a motorcycle accident and they found me a room. That took that stress off me. I would stay here again for sure.

The lighting in the bathroom needs improving and the AC units need upgraded. They are so loud and noisy.

You get full all you can eat breakfast, with eggs, meat, potatoes, fruits, cereal, yogurt, orange juice and coffee. Even during a power outage, owner cooked breakfast on his BBQ.

Hubby said they're was a mildew smell in the rooms. Could be because we were close to the water???

NO WATER! Aircon is sooooooo noisy like you have the compressor inside you room. Paid extra Oceanview but gave us restricted view - more like a parking lot view.

We lost the extendable shoe horn, it seems somebody took it because when we left to drive around, we used it but when we return to our room, it was nowhere to be found.

We got a better room with a secondary exit to the lawn at the lake. The location is beautiful, just a few minutes from the town. The breakfast was ok, nothing special.

The first thing that hit you when you walked into the room was the smell. I’m not sure what it was but suspect it was some kind of cleaning product. We had to sleep with the door open all night to try to dissipate it. The room and the bathroom were not cleaned to a high standard. The skirting boards in both needed a heavy duty clean as they were covered in hair and other residual matter! The rooms are very old and tired and need sprucing up, especially the synthetic coverings on the beds!

Leider war unser Zimmer ziemlich feucht und dunkel. Die Zimmer sind renovierungsbedürftig. Das Housekeeping macht keine Betten und auch der Boden wird nur mäßig gewischt. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat wenig Auswahl, der Bacon ist verbrannt und trocken, das Rührei eine Pampe aus der Microwelle. Die Qualität des Frühstücks mäßig.

Owning a motel doesn't mean knowing how to run it. Not a good evening or a goodbye by the owner or the employees at any time. Calling it cheap (not in price) is just an euphemism, but what upsets me more is all those people who made it gain a 7.7 rate. A place with no dust doesn't mean it's clean. When my wife and I arrived it was night. The light for the room came just from the night stand lights, no ceiling lighta and the air system was off so the air was so full of moisture that seemed to be outside. The worse came in the morning because, with the better illumination given by the sun, we saw that the bed sheets were stained as the towels. The shower mat was moldy and the bottom of the shower curtain was brown. If the washing machine can't remove the stains, don't be so cheap and replace everything it needs to be replaced! In the morning I lock the room to check out and talk about what we saw: at 9am the reception desk had a basket with a paper saying "drop the keys, we are busy serving breakfast." (This is why I don't have photos or I couldn't complain in person.) Write a thanks and a good bye at least there. Nothing. We felt like we were a walking wallet. The lake was nice, but all the lawn around was a minefield of poop. Avoid the place.

Good location just outside the town of Baddeck, very close to an excellent brewery, lake views, convenient for exploring the island. King-sized bed was comfortable. Staff very nice. For the number of people staying there, it was very quiet at night. We booked last minute and it did the job.

Rien.Décevant, vieillot et mal entretenu. En revanche la région est magnifique.

Nous avions seulement une fenêtre sur le parking près de l'accueil, ni terrrasse ni même couloir exterieur pour s'assoir devant la porte( notre porte donnant sur l'intérieur).Ce n'est pas ce qui était écrit sur notre réservation. Autre inconvénient, pas de restaurant alors que l'hôtel est assez isolé.

Pool was not very accessible. Could not swim in the lake due to no access on tones of Canadian goose feces.

Beautiful spot on the water where we were able to sit out and enjoy the fresh air and stretch a bit. Clean, comfortable room. Relaxing breakfast in the dining room with a scenic view and a nice variety to choose from. We arrived early. Mack was very accommodating and got us settled right away.

There was duck poop everywhere on the property which made strolling and walking around the property and lake very unpleasant and disgusting.

We loved how friendly everyone was and the excellent view and outdoor space at this property. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was quiet and conveniently located for the Cabot Trail.

Be careful- some of the doors had weirdly high thresholds. We tripped a couple of times. Also, the breakfast was not to our taste- nothing really *wrong* with it, we just didn't care for it.

I assume he did the same to any clients who left negative reviews - Last words, no wasting time to this place, nightmare!). I am totally not satisfied with everthing else other than the lake view. The staff lied and not polite. Hardly find parking spot. I have to park on a ditch side. The restaraunt has good size and view. But is it not clean and having un-pleasant smell. The restautant has to keep all the doors open to try to reduce the smell. The room keyless card was not working all the time. Need to try 5 to 10 time to open the door. The hotel even told me our booked room is no longer available at 7:00pm on the day we are heading to the hotel. This really give us big stress and almost ruin our trip. They even did not applogize for this at all.

The breakfast options were great! Lots of food available. Room was spacious and had a wonderful view with seating outside and technology as needed.

The sheets were musty and there was a dampness to the room. I know that it was in the heat of summer but keeping the air flow on low could help reduce mustiness in the room and especially the linens.

Couch cover is torn. Bed mattress is stained. Complimentary soap seems cheap as it breaks easily in my hand by just opening the wrapper.

Excessive use of lysol to clean room made it unbearable to stay. Tiny 1970s air conditioning units all squeaked adding more misery. This is all fixable considering the excellent location, yet management seems oblivious to issues. Spoke to several other Tennants and all agreeded that the lysol smell was too much but lack of motels in area had us trapped. I took my chances and was refunded my monies.
