Koragaha Lodge - Yala

We had a wonderful stay at Koragaha Lodge! Everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the manager made us feel very welcome. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. We also booked our safari through the lodge and can highly recommend it – everything was perfectly organized. The food was delicious and always carefully prepared. A beautiful place with amazing hospitality. We would definitely stay here again!

Es ist eine kleine Lodge mit wenigen Gästen. Dies sorgt für einen ruhigen Aufenthalt. Das Frühstück wurde an den Tisch gebracht, das Abendessen hat man vorbestellt (3 Gänge). Das Essen war sehr lecker. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett. Wir haben eine halbtägige Safari mit Guide und Fahrer über das Hotel gebucht (90 USD pro Person). Die Safari war sehr imposant aber schon auch sehr kostspielig. Trotzdem lohnenswert.

Es gab streunende Hunde, was etwas störend war wenn man nichtmal in Ruhe essen konnte. Allgemein ist alles sehr teuer (Essen, Unterkunft etc.). Im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels liegt das Hotel noch in der Range. Aber man bekommt nicht das was man vielleicht erwarten würde für den Preis. Die Lage zum Yala Nationalpark ist mittelmäßig (ca. 30min Fahrt bis zum Parkeingang).

En partant pour un'safari le matin, on ne nous a pas donne le choix que d'avoir un beakfast pack vraiment pas terrible, alors qu'en rentrant un peu avant 10h on aurait pu profiter du petit dejeuner dans le jardin.

Perfect location for a safari in Yalla. We thought accommodation would be a little basic from the pictures but actually the rooms and restaurant area all felt very high quality and surpassed our expectations. Food was great and every member of staff was amazing. Couldn’t ask for better and would definitely return.

The grounds were beautiful and gave a real sense of a safari lodge. The lodges themselves were spread out and had a great view to the grounds, they were immaculately presented and clean. The pool was clean and inviting after a hot day at Safari. The staff were incredibly hardworking, well mannered and friendly especially the manager. A big shout out to the chef, he made some great food for us, Sri Lankan and western - thank you!

Die Unterkunft liegt etwas außerhalb aber dafür ist es ein super schöner Ort. Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig und das Bad wunderschön. Die Angestellten sind alle sehr nett und Hilfsbereit. Wir haben sogar auf der Anlage Affen entdeckt.

Das Menü für das Abendessen bietet keine allzugroße Auswahl und ist recht teuer, hat uns allerdings nicht gestört da wir außerhalb gegessen haben.

This was the best stay of our three-week trip through Sri Lanka — we stayed in a deluxe chalet and absolutely loved it. The accommodation, gardens, and pool area are exceptional and create such a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. What truly stands out, though, is the incredible food experience: both breakfast and dinner are outstanding. In addition, the safaris booked through the property and the nearby beaches are amazing. On top of everything, the staff on the grounds are incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful at all times. Every single night was absolutely worth it.

There was honestly nothing to dislike. Everything was thoughtfully arranged and exceeded our expectations.

The rooms were really well decorated. We loved having our own little lodge. The beds were comfy, and the view out of the lodge was nice. The manager of the hotel was very attentive, and we had some great chats with him.

Food: We really disliked having to pre-order food from a set menu. Having to decide what we wanted to have for dinner whilst at breakfast. I don't understand why you need a set menu? The food was also very bland. 3 of us ate off the eastern menu, which was all super bland and tasteless. I don't understand why you can't have Sri Lankan food served traditionally? That's what we tourists are here for! And the breakfast was ok, but super bland again. The sandwiches on safari were really horrible. There aren't many drink options available, and they never give ice in the drinks. You could do with an espresso machine and a milk steamer - I think that is essential at a hotel where tourists can't get a good coffee in the surrounding area. Atmosphere: There is nothing to do in the surrounding area, so once you've done your safari and had a swim in the pool, it's best to move on. I heard they're building a spa, which will be really good for something to do in the afternoon once you get back from safari. Some live music in the evening would be nice, so you have a reason to sit at the restaurant for longer.

Close to Yala National Park. Excellent accommodation with a real Safari Lodge Vibe. Awesome rooms and food was excellent.

Lovely serene stay!! Pool was lovely and nestled in amongst nature. Rooms are nice and comfortable but maybe slightly dated. Easy to get to Yala from location. Quite far from any other shops/restaurants so we ended up only really eating at hotel. Food at hotel was really really good though, but expensive! Staff were helpful and friendly.

Shower water pressure was almost non existent

This is an INCREDIBLE property. The staff are amazing and go above & beyond. They organised a private seafood bbq for us on the beach for a birthday celebration. HIGHLY recommend.

Yala is a slightly isolated town.

The staff was awesome. The food was excellent. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Spacious grounds and a great walking/jogging track! Lovely pool, awesome pet dogs to keep us company! The staff were very responsive to our needs. Lots of birds, peacocks and even a rabbit who scurried past our dining area at precisely 7:15pm every evening!! Highly recommend for a quiet, relaxing holiday...Ask for a cooking class!

We loved everything about this stay! The hotel is wonderful and so beautiful and peaceful. The staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was so good, one of the best kottu we had in Sri Lanka! We borrowed bikes and had a little ride around which was a nice touch. Pool area lovely and clean. The hotel organised the safari for us which was seamless with a packed breakfast.

I was blown away by Koragaha Lodge - luxurious, spacious rooms, a beautiful pool and delicious meals. Only a short drive from the entrance to the National Park. Lovely friendly staff.

A beautiful boutique lodge near Yala National Park. We had a wonderful stay, amazing staff and beautiful breakfasts and meals. An organised Safari was the highlight, a big male leopard made his presence know, such an awesome experience.

The property was beautifully set out, grounds well kept and the pool was perfect. Rooms were really spacious and clean and the staff were extremely helpful and lovely. The food was also great!! They even booked us a Yala safari with guide Sandaruwan, he was amazing helped us find every animal, one of the best experiences of our trip.

Uns hat alles gefallen. Für 10 Punkte könnte die Pool Area vielleicht noch etwas liebevoller gestaltet sein.

The room was large and comfortable, and felt very luxurious. The pool is a great bonus and it was perfect for a relaxing cool-off to end a full day safari in Yala. The staff are super friendly and accommodating.

The food and drinks are overpriced - and in dollars - but you're stuck with it due to the property's location (unless you have your own transport). The meals are all set menus which is quite restrictive, although I was able to swap desserts one night which was appreciated. Overall, it would be better if they lowered the cost of F&B.

Wir haben eine Safari über die Lodge gebucht. Guide war nicht zu verstehen, Fahrer unaufmerksam. Wir empfehlen, bei einer Buchung einer Safari auf einen erfahrenen Guide zu bestehen.

Superb - everything was excellent

Hele mooie serene plek! Prachtig verzorgde lodges vlakbij Yala (30 min rijden). Lodge zeer ruim en schoon. Heerlijk warm en overvloedig water bij het douchen iedere dag:) Ontbijt heel netjes en verzorgd. Diner heerlijk! Superlekkere toetjes:) Je geeft van tevoren door wat je wil eten en dan komt het allemaal in orde. Goede service. Keuken zag er ook brandschoon uit. Mooi verzorgd terrein met overal lampjes ‘s avonds etc. Safari was super geregeld. We waren met een jong kind en hadden wat vragen/wensen, maar ze dachten goed mee. Hebben veel dieren gezien tijdens onze middagsafari.

Eigenlijk niets. Het is er heel rustig, maar voor ons was dat alleen maar fijn.

Food options could have been better at the price point

A beautiful tranquil spot with lots of nature right outside your door. Rooms are huge and well designed with all you would need, comfortable beds, a nice pool area to relax. Attentive polite staff and delicious food.

The food was the most expensive we experienced on our entire trip, however it was delicious, you are restricted to set menus which isn’t so helpful if you just want a smaller meal. The location is quite far from block 5 and 6 which we weren’t aware of when we booked, it may be fine for blocks 1 and 2 however but worth checking.

The staff very helpfull and did everything for us. Very nice barbeque also The fixed a nice nreakfast box for us before morning safari as well

Lovely setting, spacious rooms, beautiful pool area and grounds where you can see monkeys and birds.

Accomodation is expensive comparatively unless you get it on a deal. Food is on the expensive side ($15 US each, though still cheap for western standards). We had some vege only in our group - if you are vegetarian there are limited options and not very tasty. Presentation of food is good though. If you like tasty Sri Lankan food this will probably taste bland, if you prefer mild western food (English, German etc) you might find it OK. This is even despite asking for food to be spicy. Staff mixed up our booking information consistently through the trip and then we were double charged on departure but they resolved this after 30 mins. Their Yala safari tours are very expensive compared to if you book directly yourself - we found a difference of $60 USD per person (for no noticeable difference in quality), so we booked it ourselves. We had 2 rooms, shower in 1 room only ever got luke warm and sometimes was cold. Given it’s a hot climate this is not a big issue, but still would expect hot water across 2 night stay.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The property delivers on all measures, and we had a wonderful stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend.

An exceptional lodge experience! The rooms are huge and immaculate. The whole place is peaceful and really added to the safari experience. There is a pool and restaurant. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we have had in Sri Lanka. The staff even surprised us with a birthday cake as both of us are celebrating birthdays on our trip. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. They had pre booked a safari for us and arranged everything. I highly recommend Koragaha Lodge when staying in Yala.

Väldigt trevlig plats, med en mysig stämning. Känns som mycket kärlek i utförandet från personalen och boendet återspeglar detta. Rekommenderar helt klart att bo här.

The property is absolutely stunning and well kept. Nature envelopes you as you walk through the front doors of Koragaha, instantly creating calm and peaceful vibes. The rooms are stunning and the back door slides open to beautifully kept grounds with outside seating perfect to take your morning or afternoon tea! If you are lucky, you may even see a peacock or a bengal monitor or monkeys, but one thing is for sure, the sounds of birds will surround you. The young chef (forgot his name) does a fabulous job creating Western/Eastern food. We were there over New Year, so they did a traditional breakfast with Kiribath and sweet treats, and lit lamps and boiled milk, both traditions followed in Sri Lanka. The level of service was exceptional, from the manager, Reni, to staff like Isuru and Hemal, they exuded warmth and made us feel at home. All in all, a great stay, and we would highly recommend this property!

For awareness and really minor is that we struggled to get hot water for two, the water was luke warm at best.

Prachtige grote kamer, heerlijke douche (idd niet altijd warm maar ach ), zalig zwembad, lief personeel, goede bedden, goed wifi. En ze verzorgen top excursies. Wij hadden gids Rowan en die maakte er echt een top dag van.

Ach als je iets moet klagen dan zou het het diner zijn. Vrij westers en qua smaak mwa, maar goed wij zijn gewoon het dorp ingegaan. Het ontbijt en de sandwiches die je kunt bestellen zijn top!

We couldn’t have had a better time at the lodge. From the outset, the service was impeccable, they really went above and beyond to engage with us and take care of us. To make it even better, there were beautiful two week old puppies bumbling around and one day old kittens! The decor is outstanding and the food was delicious.

Super Aufenthalt. Toller Service, super Essen, wir haben uns wohlgefühlt. Yala-Safari über das Hotel gebucht, würde ich jedem empfehlen, da wir Guide und Fahrer hatten, die sich darum gekümmert haben, dass wir unter den ersten Jeeps morgens im Park waren. Absolute Empfehlung!

Beautiful food and location, staff were very flexible and accommodating. We enjoyed the pool, the beautifully decorated rooms and being able to sit outside our cabins and watch birds in the landscaped gardens.

Es war eine Oase in der Nähe des Yala Nationalparks. Wundervolles Essen, toller Service und eine sehr ruhige und entspannte Lage. Auch der Pool hat nach der Safari gut getan. Wir haben die private Safari direkt über das Hotel gebucht und würden das auch empfehlen - Fahrer und Guide waren beide sehr professionell.

Die Betten waren etwas hart, der Rest war perfekt!

Hotelanlage ist wunderschön, Zimmer hatten alles was man braucht und waren gross. Garten oder eher Park mit vielen Vögeln vor dem Hotel. Man hat seine Ruhe und der Pool wird top unterhalten. Die Jungs kümmern sich wirklich um alles und können einem jeden Wunsch von den Lippen ablesen. Touren und Transfers werden organisiert, das Essen wird vorab bestellt und ist einfach köstlich. Alles klappt pünktlich und ohne Fehler. Der Besitzer arbeitet selbst mit und ist sehr freundlich und angenehm. Wir haben drei halbtages Safaris gebucht und auch die waren genial. Der Fahrer Heshan und unser Guide Sanka waren Profis. Nie gab es Probleme und wir haben vermutlich alles bis auf die Bären gesehen. Unglaublich auch was Heshan während dem Fahren alles noch erblicken konnte. Dank der Erfahrung der Jungs konnten wir nach 1.5 Stunden warten einen Leoparden direkt vor unserem Wagen aus dem Busch kommen sehen, ohne dutzende weitere Fahrzeuge um uns zu haben. Die Safari würde ich auf jeden Fall bei der Lodge buchen, auch wenn es teuerer ist als ausserhalb. Die Gründe sind ganz einfach, man hat nicht nur einen Fahrer, sondern auch einem Guide dabei, man muss kein Ticket kaufen, man kann rechts vorbei morgens um 6 Uhr direkt zum Gate, weil registriert und online gebucht durchs Hotel. 90% der Nationalparkbesucher können erst Mal ihr Ticket kaufen gehen und dürfen sich dann in die linke Wagenkolonne einreihen. Zudem gehen die Safaris 5 oder sogar 7 Stunden, je nach Sichtungen und Wetter, externe Anbieter machen ihre 3-4 Stunden und das wars. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

Wir haben viel mit dem Staff über alles mögliche gesprochen und waren generell vom extrem niedrigen Lohnniveau in Sri Lanka überrascht. Die Jungs dort machen einen wirklich grossartigen Job und es ist ein eher teureres Hotel, wo etwas höhere Löhne sicher möglich sind. Das wäre mein einziger Wunsch was man für die Leute dort verbessern könnte.

The most stunning hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka, the photos do not do it justice at all! The food was exceptional, every meal was delicious and the staff were all fantastic and so accommodating. Would recommend this place to anyone. Also the trips they run are fantastic and the people who take you are wonderful!

I was unfortunate to be assigned to a chalet with faulty water heater. Was attended to but i believe that caused power failure in the middle of the night!

Clean, huge rooms

- Very hard beds on concrete slabs (see picture) we where with 4 adults. Everyone slept bad because of the hard matrasses that lay directly on a concrete slab. - we already had a driver and booked safari before we arrived. It was clear that the staff wasn't happy that they couldn't sell us there safari and that we didn't eat in the hotel. I get it that they expect us to consume more in the hotel but it felt that the manager even didn't say hi when we were leaving because he was not happy we didn't book with them...

This property is beautiful and set in a park-like setting. We really enjoyed staying here. The staff were fabulous! We loved our rooms, they were so clean, spacious and decorated so tastefully. Easy to arrange a Safari from here. The packed picnic the Lodge staff organised for us to take was perfect! We also did a morning Nature Walk with local guide who was a delight. Lovely team - thanks for looking after us.

The food was a little underwhelming which was a shame. The beds need an extra blanket on them - 1 top sheet was not enough and both nights we were a bit cold (even with air conditioning adjusted).
