The hotel itself is actually very nice, and we had a pleasant stay overall. However, my experience with Booking.com’s price-match policy was extremely disappointing. After we had already checked in and stayed for one night, I discovered on the 5th that the price on Booking.com had dropped by around USD 50 per night for exactly the same type of room. I immediately contacted Booking.com and asked them to honor their advertised price-match policy. Their response was that my original reservation was for the 4th–8th, while the screenshot I provided showed a price for the 5th–8th, and therefore they refused to match it. This reasoning is completely absurd. Of course my screenshot was taken on the 5th — that is precisely when I discovered that the price had dropped! How could I possibly have taken a screenshot on the 4th showing a price that had not yet dropped? Are they expecting customers to travel back in time and provide evidence from a date before the price actually changed? What is even more frustrating is that Booking.com presents itself as offering a price-match guarantee, but when you actually try to use it, they can simply find a technicality and reject your request. The whole experience felt incredibly unreasonable and unfair — like arguing with someone who is determined to find any excuse not to honor what was promised. And there was another clear indication that Booking.com was not offering us the best price. My mother joined us on this trip and booked the same type of room through a Chinese travel platform. Her rate was USD 50 less per night than ours. So my advice is very simple: The hotel itself is good, but DO NOT book it through Booking.com. There are plenty of other platforms available, and in our case, we found a significantly cheaper rate elsewhere for exactly the same room. One more thing to be aware of: the beach is not suitable for swimming, so if you are choosing this hotel specifically for a swimming beach, you may want to take that int

Had an amazing stay at Anantara Tangalle. Our host Ms. Yashani de Alwis took very good care of us. She was very helpful. We enjoyed the tour around the resort by her. This resort is truly the total package. The property itself is gorgeous and beautifully maintained, filled with lush greenery and exceptionally clean rooms and facilities. There is an abundance of activities that give you endless opportunities to experience everything the resort has to offer. However, what truly sets this place apart is the incredible staff. You can be in the most beautiful location in the world, but poor service can completely ruin the experience; here, the friendly staff wrapped everything up with a bow. Shout out to Suresh at breakfast, Thisari our host, Sahini at the Spa and Kaveesha at the pool bar.This resort perfectly combines natural beauty, fantastic activities, and top-tier service to create an all-around great experience!

This is our second time staying here, one of my favourite hotels in Sri Lanka. The service is fabulous and the dining experiences are great. Beautiful hotel with pool, bar and sea views. This was our first time experiencing the spa and it was incredible, highly recommend!

Haven indeed... the hotel lived upto what it marketed. Location is brilliant. Sprawling impeccable gardens and cleanliness is maintained in every nook and corner. Food is great... on a full board there was a unique arrangement. Breakfast and dinner were buffet arrangements. Lunch was a la carte at with 2 restaurant options to choose from. We found this an appealing difference to the usual 3 buffet deal... The chefs in charge of Indian food at Journeys needs to be commended... Standout feature is quality of attentiveness of the staff... from how phone calls are answered to how we were treated at the restaurant, pool, in the garden ... simply anywhere... they have nailed the art of customer service... Thank you Anantara Peace Haven... keep the standards high... Truly memorable stay...

We had the most wonderful stay at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle, and it was made even more special as we were celebrating our son’s 4th birthday. 🎂❤️ From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make his birthday memorable. A special thank you to Meurn, our Villa Manager, who was absolutely fantastic and put so much thought and care into making his birthday so special. His attention to detail and warm hospitality really stood out. The kids’ club was also fantastic. The children loved spending time there, and the team were so warm, caring and engaging. It was a real highlight for our little ones and gave us some lovely time to relax too. We would also like to thank the wonderful breakfast team and all the staff at the restaurants where we enjoyed our dinners. Everyone was so friendly, attentive and welcoming. A big thank you to Sehrish as well, who kept our villa absolutely spotless throughout our stay. Wir hatten zuerst ein normales Standard Zimmer, nach der ersten Nacht allerdings einen ziemlichen Befall von fliegenden Anreisen, die anscheinend über die Rohre gekommen sind (nichts gefährliches aber trotzdem unangenehm und lästig) Hotel hat angeboten uns ein neues Zimmer zu geben in der Kategorie, haben uns dann für eine Villa kot Pool entschieden und haben es dann quasi als Upgrade etwas günstiger pro Nacht bekommen. Sehr schöne Villa, sauber und groß das einzige es hat sehr streng gerochen. Haben auch hier nochmals mit dem Manager gesprochen woraufhin das Problem gleich behoben wurde-es waren Gecko Abwehr Kugeln die sehr streng gerochen haben. Sehr bemühte Managerin.

Preise für Aktivitäten waren schon sehr hoch. Würde raten es nicht vom Hotel organisieren zu lassen. Fahrt zur Schildkröten Station und Galle Fort 250$ find ich schon extrem viel.

Het resort is ver van alles en de prijzen van het eten zijn echt té hoog. Zelfs fors hoger dan prijzen in Europese restaurants terwijl het eten van mindere kwaliteit is en de porties karig zijn.

We have just stayed 12 nights as 2 families of 7 , in pure luxury at this beautiful hotel . The location is beautiful on the south coast of Sri Lanka The staff have been amazing , absolutely first class , they go out of your way to make you feel special . I have to mention Kasun - our room host , for his ultimate efficiency in organising our tours ( which were of excellent value ) and our restaurant choices . The restaurants are all excellent and I would rate as first class . The service being excellent and food was consistently amazing . We ate at both Il Mare , Journeys and Le Verela .Both of which had excellent choice , first class service and food was fantastic ! The breakfast was outstanding and they had everything imaginable on offer . Special mention to the Hopper lady whose eggs were fantastic and we were always greeted with such a warm smile each morning . I also need to give a mention the pool guys and beach guys who were there before you knew it with towels . Fabulous 5* experience , I would deffo recommend . The stay was wonderful. Extremely polite staff on the management side as well as in the restaurant. Beautiful beach side and rooms. The property has cycles for us to travel around with which was fun. Only short coming were the portion sizes in the restaurant atleast for the vegetarian options.

Location, resort maintenace, spa, and room were great. Staying in an ocean view villa with private pool definitely made the stay at the resort awesome in comparison to a normal room. Food was pretty good with a large choice of options for breakfast. The buffet restaurant for dinner was fine, not great, but both the Italian and Asian à la carte restaurants were excellent. Our villa butler wasn’t the most proactive and was difficult to get hold of when we needed assistance. The room attendant and pool guy provided exceptional service and did a great job.

We stayed 11 nights in Anantara Tangalle resort. This was one of our best vacations ever. We enjoyed our room with fantastic ocean view , thanks to the kind attitude of Villa Manager Meuranjana Tennakoon.He helped us to buy some clothes when we arrived, because our luggage has delayed. The whole concept of the resort is with amazing nature and animals variety. Very good restaurants, especially Il Mare Delicious food and extreme service. A lot of activities like Spa, Yoga with fantastic yoga trainer Vanco we highly recommend to attend morning yoga classes. Our very nice room attendant name Dulaj who was surprising us every day . Also Kasun and Janindu from reception. Congratulation for GM Frederick Van den Borre for this professional team , great service and attitude.

Third time in Sri Lanka, first time at Anantara peace haven. Our girls both under 8 loved it. The kids club attendees were so good with kids and our daughters normally hesitant warmed up to them quickly. If you go with young kids the highlight kids activity was the pizza making with one of their chefs. Beautiful property and I cannot stress enough that the staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay memorable especially if you have young kids. Can’t wait to visit again

Our stay at Anantara Peace Haven was exceptional from start to finish. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best family-friendly resorts we’ve visited. The resort is incredibly kid-friendly, with fun hourly activities that kept our children entertained throughout the day. Every member of the team genuinely cared about making sure our family was comfortable and having a great time. We only stayed for two days, but it simply wasn’t enough. Next time we’ll definitely be back for at least five days to fully enjoy everything the resort has to offer. Our drive from Negombo to Tangalle was long, but the scenic coastal roads made the journey enjoyable. The moment we arrived at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle, we knew it was going to be a special experience. We received one of the warmest welcomes we’ve ever experienced, complete with refreshing fresh coconut water as a welcome drink. The check-in process was seamless and hassle-free. A special thanks to Rasith De Silva, our butler, who was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always ready to help throughout our stay. Our villa was absolutely stunning. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered breathtaking views. The bathroom was enormous and luxurious, making the entire stay feel truly indulgent. Every detail reflected the high standards of the resort. There was no shortage of things to do within the property. We loved exploring the resort on bicycles, relaxing at the spa, taking part in the orchid planting experience, and enjoying peaceful nature walks. There were also plenty of family-friendly activities that kept our son entertained Mama’s Traditional kitchen was outstanding experience for my son making it an excellent destination for families as well as couples. Dining at Journeys Restaurant was another highlight. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious dishes prepared to perfection. A heartfelt thank you to Chef Kasun for the amazing food and for making every meal memorable. We also appreciate the outstanding hospitality from Restaurant Manager Priyantha and server Kirshan, whose warmth and professionalism made every dining experience even more enjoyable. I honestly don’t know how to rate this hotel because I have very mixed feelings. Let me start with the positives. The surroundings are beautiful, with stunning, well-maintained gardens, and our villa (No. 609) was absolutely gorgeous with an amazing view. I also cannot complain about the housekeeping team. They cleaned our villa twice a day, surprised us with small spa samples and gifts, and every day they created beautiful towel decorations. We had a small issue with the swimming pool because the water was dirty, but it was not a problem at all—they changed the water immediately. I would also like to thank our Villa Host, who was always very kind, professional, and did his best to fulfill all of our requests throughout our stay. Now, let’s talk about the biggest negatives. In my opinion, this hotel does not live up to the Anantara brand, nor does it meet the standards of a true five-star luxury resort. The biggest disappointment was the food. Breakfast was served as a buffet, but as a European, I struggled to find anything to eat. The selection was extremely poor and almost identical every single day. There was no smoked salmon and none of the high-quality breakfast options you would normally expect from an Anantara property. Breakfast was by far the biggest disappointment of our stay. Dinner was à la carte, and I cannot complain about the taste—the food was good. However, there was only one menu for the entire week, so I ended up eating exactly the same dishes for seven days. If you enjoy food and like variety, be prepared for very limited options. What surprised me even more was that my partner wanted to order shrimp, but he was told he couldn’t. The hotel manager even came to our table and explained that he was only allowed to choose one dish. This was very disappointing. When you stay at a luxury resort by the ocean, you naturally expect seafood to be one of its highlights, not something that is restricted. Another major issue was the buggy service. The resort only has two buggies and two tuk-tuks available for guests. We visited during the low season, yet we still had to wait a long time almost every time we requested transportation. I honestly can’t imagine what the situation is like during the high season. Everything takes far too long, whether it’s waiting for a buggy or simply waiting for service. The restaurant staff were always kind, polite and smiling. However, it was obvious that they had not been properly trained, and I don’t blame them for that—I blame the hotel management. Food was often served without cutlery, and we had to wait another 10–15 minutes before someone brought it. Empty glasses were rarely noticed or refilled, empty plates stayed on the table even though staff walked past them several times, and almost everything had to be requested repeatedly. The management should be embarrassed that the staff have not been trained to provide the level of service expected from a luxury brand like Anantara. The worst part of our stay, however, was the security staff. There are many stray dogs on the beach, and I was deeply shocked by the way the security guards treated them whenever they entered the hotel gardens. I personally witnessed security guards shouting at the dogs, chasing them away and hitting them. As someone who truly loves animals and even spent time feeding these dogs during my stay, this was absolutely heartbreaking to watch. For me, there is absolutely no excuse for treating defenseless animals this way. This behavior is unacceptable and should never be tolerated by any hotel, especially one that calls itself a luxury resort. The management should be ashamed for allowing this to happen and should ensure that all staff treat animals with compassion and humanity. Because of what I personally witnessed, I cannot recommend this hotel. This was, without question, the most upsetting and disappointing part of my entire stay. It is a real shame because this property has so much potential. The beautiful location, stunning villas, our excellent Villa Host and the outstanding housekeeping team deserve praise. Unfortunately, the food, buggy service, restaurant service and the behavior of the security staff fall far below the standards that the Anantara brand should represent. I have stayed in many luxury five-star hotels around the world, so I believe I have a good basis for comparison. That is exactly why I expected much more from Anantara. Sadly, this stay left me feeling more disappointed than impressed.

I start about one small gecko was in our pool villa first day its poop our bed than I tell to butler about that he said its okay maybe from roof we didn’t care than second day and than again third day everyday I told to butler he said sorry maybe from roof last day he said it’s maybe gecko im your room the real problem is its pooping to bed and we have 6 months old baby what if that gecko was poop on baby or close to baby or us and we have some of diseases that’s really shocked me and its really disappointing I could give for this reason 0 points but it’s okay and second thing we stay too many hotel in the world in high class resorts must have all inclusive options when I wanted to make the option all inclusive minibar still extra and drinks are extra its also weird I don’t want to think about payment or money wheb I am in resort make it expensive if you want but you should have all inclusive option and third and last thing the dinner wasn’t open buffet and menu was boring second day we bored from the menu cause there is no too much options

Our stay at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort was nothing short of exceptional. We visited as a large family group of 20 people, and yet every single moment of our stay felt warm, personal, smooth, and truly memorable. The resort itself is stunning, the food and drinks were excellent, the service was prompt and thoughtful, and the entire team made us feel completely at home. A very special mention must go to Thisari, who was absolutely wonderful throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us with the most genuine smile, warmth, and positive energy. She went out of her way to accommodate us in every possible manner, including arranging late breakfasts for us after our early morning surfing sessions. What truly touched us was the kindness and patience she showed during our anniversary celebration. My wife needed help draping and styling her saree, and Thisari personally came down and spent nearly 30 minutes helping her with so much care, patience, and affection. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot to us. She also arranged a beautiful surprise anniversary cake and lovely room decorations that made our special day unforgettable. Her kindness, smile, and hospitality are something we will always remember with deep gratitude. Another heartfelt appreciation to Lakmal at the restaurant. Managing a large family group with adults, kids, different requests, changing plans, and playful moods is never easy, but Lakmal handled everything with incredible patience and a constant smile. No matter how busy things were, he was always cheerful, attentive, and eager to help. His positive attitude and excellent service truly elevated our dining experience every day. We would also like to sincerely thank Dhananjeya from the concierge/travel desk team. He efficiently handled all our transportation and excursion arrangements throughout the trip — from early morning surfing sessions to temple visits, dinners, and family outings. Whether we needed a small vehicle for a few people or a large coach for the whole family, everything was always arranged perfectly and on time. He was consistently kind, calm, professional, and extremely dependable. What makes this resort truly special is not just the beautiful property, but the people. We visited Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort on May 22 for a day visit, and honestly, it was one of the most relaxing days we’ve had in a while. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable straight away. The whole place has a calm vibe — lots of greenery and a beautiful ocean view. It didn’t feel crowded or noisy, which I really liked. The food was another highlight for us. There were plenty of options, and everything we tried was really tasty. We especially enjoyed the variety and the way the dishes were presented. We mainly spent our time just walking around, enjoying the views, and relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you can just switch off for a few hours and forget everything else. Overall, we had a really nice experience. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for a peaceful place with good food and a relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely consider visiting again.

We had an splendid stay at Anantara Peace Haven Resort Tangalle Sri Lanka. From the moment of booking the attentiveness was exceptional from the Assistant FOM Mr Sameera. He kept checking and the care continued throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the complimentary double upgrade, the room was spacious, spotless, and included all the amenities we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. A special thank you to Yashani our host, whose attentiveness and responsiveness to every enquiry made us feel welcomed. The manager is clearly leading by example as the entire staff team were consistently attentive, respectful, and dedicated to ensuring guests felt well looked after. The meals were varied and delicious, with the Italian restaurant being a highlight. The steward Sandeepa was very knowledgeable and we took his recommendation with our dinner. The resort itself is expansive, beautifully maintained, and such a peaceful place to wander around and unwind. A truly relaxing experience with exceptional hospitality from start to finish. We returned from the Anantara the end of April. First time that i've had the chance to review. What an amazing hotel. Every part of our holiday was perfect. From check in to our departure I really can't fault one single thing. We had half board included. Food was extremely good in the main restaurant and also the two other options. Every member of staff was so very helpful and polite. Rooms are perfect. Thank you for a memorable holiday. So much so, we are returning next April.

I'm about to wrap up my 3 day stay here and I'm already thinking about when I can book my next stay. The property and rooms is stunning and comfortable, the food has been exceptional but what made my stay memorable is the lovely friendly staff. I was so well looked after by Thisari, Ishaan, Krishan and Maeru.

Sehr ansprechendes Frühstücksbuffet Restaurants sind alle sehr gut Zimmer schön, gross und sauber Strand mit Liegen sehr gut, Baden im Meer allerdings schwierig, da sehr starke Strömung. Viele interessante Tiere in der Hotelanlage.

Schlechter Empfang: kein Wilkommesdrink dafür Werbung für Anantara Mitgliedschaft und Donations für Projekte Falsches Zimmer Beides konnte aber gut und schnell behoben werden.

Overall perfect, but lacks personality. This was I think our 8th Anantara Hotel, having stayed in Anantara in Thailand and Vietnam, plus Sri Lanka. All the other hotels on this trip had buffet breakfast and Evening meal, we were a bit disappointed about the lack of this facility. The evening meal menu was a bit restrictive and disappointing. Overall, the staff at the hotel and very efficient, polite and professional. The rooms are very clean, well thought out and has everything that you would want. Plenty of fresh water, the hot water in the room was suspect, never managed to get the water hot, not a major issue. Our room was ok, nice gesture by the staff with different ‘towel art’ . Nice touch with the cakes and chocolate freebies. There was a nice background sound of the waves crashing onto the beach. The beach is great, but swimming is going to be difficult due to the nature of the waves and tide. The pool is brilliant and these are well maintained and fully staffed. Reception staff are very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Couple of items that may be of interest. The pathways are also used by staff delivering items to rooms etc, my hearing is not great, and the vehicles do travel at pace and the elderly may not realise they are travelling on the same path. My conclusion is that the hotel is in an ideal situation, a bit remote from anything else, very little attraction in Tangalle. The rooms are great, the grounds are well maintained. It all sound perfect and in a way it is, but there appears to be no ‘focal point’ no bar area, very little entertainment. It sort of lack ‘personality’. Would we stay there again? Yes, but only for a short number of days. Now for some really positive stuff. We arranged for the “Experience a cuisine rich with aromatic spices and fresh produce at Spice Spoons cooking school” which my partner attended, she absolutely loved the whole experience, and I was able to try one or two of the dishes, stunning. Two names to mention. Kasun and Manju, my partner was very impressed and credit to both for making the day worthwhile.

We had a lovely stay and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thisari, who looked after us throughout made sure everything we needed was accommodated with ease and kindness. Thisari also suggested we go on the canoe trip and that was idyllic. The entire team were attentive and genuinely welcoming, which made a real difference to our stay. We were also very grateful for the late checkout, which was much appreciated. The pool area was particularly lovely – a perfect place to relax and the pool staff were great putting our towels out each day. All the staff looked after us so well, and we will definitely be back. We loved it so much here we came back after our trip to Yala to stay for a further 3 nights. Everything was perfect. We stayed in a regular room and also a beach view villa. Both were fabulous. The service from all the staff was next level, especially around the pool. We ate in all the restaurants and the food was perfect. Also caters very well to children. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful location and the food was unbelievable and unique. We had a very relaxing time in the hotel. The staff was wonderful especially Miss Himasha Ishani and the Young lad in the bar by the pool who served us, unfortunately I don’t remember his name.
