I was extreemly pleasantly surprised by this place. I'd looked around online for a small ryokan with not to many rooms, futons to sleep on, and that could keep dietary restrictions in mind. Since I cannot eat fish, seafood or seaweed that last one was pretty important to me. I messaged the ryokan beforehand to let them know and they kept it in mind when making my breakfast and dinner. If I had not known they changed things for me, I would have thought my dinner and breakfast were a standard meal option. I never felt like I got less or missed out. The room itself was large, clean and very nice. The futon and pillow were soft and I never had any issues from not sleeping in a regular bed. The onsen was very nice. In the evening the outside bath can be booked as a private bath. But since it's a small ryokan I often found myself alone in the onsen anyway. I've already told my friends who're thinking of going to Hakone on their next Japan trip that they have to come to this Ryokan. I too would come back if I ever visit Hakone again!

We loved staying here. 10/10 location, easy 2 minute walk to Gora station with access to cable car for the Halone free pass loop. Charming and quiet, tge onsens - although public to other guests - were fabulous and we had them to ourselves everytime except once. They change the onsens from ladies to men daily so you get to experience all onsens. The dinners and breakfasts was the best food we have had in Japan. They catered for our kids with cooked seafood and meat rather than sashimi.

Außergewöhnliche Location, wundervolle Atmosphäre, in der Natur. Tolle Ausstattung, japanische Zimmer und herausragendes Essen. Sehr nettes Personal und hilfsbereit. Ich war leider krank, es wurde sich sehr gekümmert, alle waren freundlich und sehr bemüht. Der Onsen wurde ausreichend genutzt und war ein unglaubliches Ergebnis für uns. Vielen Dank für die tolle Zeit!

Le personnel est très accueillant et serviable. Le ryokan est situé à 5 min de la station Gora, au carrefour de multiples moyens de transport. Il est au coeur de la nature, les vues sont superbes. Et si vous pouvez, prenez en demi-pension car les repas sont extraordinaires.

La salle de douches pourrait être légèrement modernisée (tout en gardant bien sûr l'esprit de la salle partagée des ryokan).

We had an incredible stay at Lalaca in Gora. The food was a real highlight, with delicious, authentic multi-course meals that felt like a special experience each evening. They also provided fantastic vegetarian meals on request, with just as much care and variety as the standard menu. The entire hotel was beautiful, and both the lobby and our room had amazing views. Our room was extremely spacious, comfortable and had excellent air conditioning. The onsens were peaceful, relaxing and very well maintained—the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Hakone. A wonderful traditional Japanese stay with exceptional food, beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. We would highly recommend Lalaca!

Les onsen un peu vieillissant au niveau du bois. Le sous-sol un peu tristounet avant d'accéder au onsen. Petit déjeuner qui manque de sucré. Il manque une salle de bain dans les chambres même si celles des onsens suffisent.

Very nice staff with great attention to detail. Traditional dinner and breakfast were a good way to try local food. The hotel has a 50's mid-century modern meets japandi design, with traditional rooms and big windows - a charming and well preserved time capsule. The private onsen on a balcony was also very nice and relaxing - 30min sounds too quick but it was more than enough for us. An amazing experience overall.

Be aware that both meals are an experience not to be rushed and breakfast starts at 8h - don't book your train too early when leaving!

建物が古い、埃っぽくジメジメしている、座布団から異臭がしていた、館内用スリッパが畳生地で使い回していて不潔、タオルや浴衣が何年前から使用し続けているのだろうと思うほど古くて生地がペラペラになっている、掛け布団がシーツ一枚挟んでいるだけで覆われておらず気持ち悪かった、お部屋の扉はオートロックではなく物理鍵をかけるタイプ、とにかく古いです。

The staff is very friendly and helpful. both breakfast and dinner come highly recommended and offer great value.

The facility is very old and poorly maintained; for example, the sink drain was blocked and the walls are not soundproof . you can hear everything from the noisy neighbors. The public onsen is run-down, and the bath water was not very clean. The hotel is over-advertised, and the posted pictures are highly exaggerated.

Dinner was excellent, so many dishes. We also had the private onsen for the use of our two rooms for one hour, with very nice views outside.

Un Ryokan avec un onsen superbe idéal pour profiter d'un séjour reposant dans la région de Hakone. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l'accueil et la gentillesse du personnel.

Seul problème, nous avions beaucoup de valises et c'est dommage qu'un service de navette ne soit pas dans l'offre. L'équipe a quand même proposé une navette improvisée à la gare mais pas devant l'entrée, j'ai donc été obligé de porter mes quatre valises seul pour faire le tour de la gare et arriver devant l'entrée.

The onsen and surrounding area were very beautiful. I liked the authentic Japanese style room I slept in. The dinner and breakfast were really delicious as well.

Staff was friendly from the start and spoke good English. The food served for breakfast and dinner was delightful and in large portions. We stayed in the room that had a private bath, but both the private and the public bath were in great condition. The possibility to have 30 minutes for yourself on a private onsen was very interesting and is very foreigner-friendly for onsen first-timers. When you are not with a lot of luggage, Gora Station is a transportation hub in Hakone, so being close to it is very convenient.

The hill from Gora Station is really challenging to go up to, but the hotel had sent clear instructions to get off in a closer station when we were going there, called Koen Shimo. With our suitcases, this is a much more comfortable experience, and only 90 yen from Gora Station in the cable car. We did not have our large suitcases because we only stayed 2 nights, but I think it would also be challenging to bring suitcases on the stairs to the room (there are no elevators).

The most amazing kaiseki meal for dinner and breakfast. Exceeded my expectations. The private onsen option was great. The staff were lovely and accomodating of my fish allergies. We also had our baby with us.

Common areas are a bit dated and need refreshing.

レストランのテーブルがぐらぐらしてたのでしゃぶしゃぶのコンロとかコップとか子供がぶつかったらあぶなそうなきがしました。

お食事は、本当に美味しく丁寧に調理されていて満足でした。温泉も温質がとてもよく湯温も丁度入りやすく子供も大丈夫て、部屋数が少ないので空いた状態でゆっくり入浴出来ました。男女風呂の入れ替えや貸切風呂のシステムも上手くされて、温泉を堪能出来、有り難かった。 接客対応もアジア系の従業員の方のようですが、親しみが感じられ丁寧でした。

設備は最新ではないため、シャワーの湯の出方が直線的に強くなるので、マイルドで広範囲になるシャワーだと良いのと，シャワーが1箇所取り外されたままだったが、特には気にならなく問題なく過ごせました。宿泊費がもう少し低いと大いにリピートしたい宿です。

食事が贅沢で、スタッフの方も幼児に対して騒がしかったのですが、温かく対応してくれたところ。

I messaged the team through the booking.com site in advance to ask if they would be willing to accommodate a long/somewhat complex list of dietary restrictions (essentially, no shellfish or certain other fish like eel, octopus, etc. and no pork). Since we’d be eating 2 meals a day wherever we stayed, it was very important to me that this be accommodated as best as possible. The team acknowledged they might not be perfect (it was a long list!) but would do their best. They absolutely exceeded my expectations in this regard - at each meal, the staff checked with me to make sure that each fish was ok. No courses needed to be skipped, just substituted. We were three people and two of us had different restrictions while one ate everything. The person with no restrictions was served the normal meal as we’d hoped. The staff deserves big kudos for making this happen given the language barrier and nature of the meals served. Thank you!! We truly enjoyed all other aspects of the stay as well.

Wall to wall carpeting, art, etc. is dated so it cheapens the look of the (otherwise very lovely) facility a bit

Lovely location, although a bit of a hike up the hill ( but everywhere is!). Lovely serene onsen, good food, fun fancy dress for dinner.

The food was exceptional. The surroundings are stunning, and the location is excellent. The rooms were very spacious.

I was under the impression that the onsen would be switched daily between man and women. However, you always got the same onsen at the same time, which is a shame since, as a parent, i could only experience one since i had to wait till the kids slept We asked for plain white rice for our child. But somehow there were always vegetables in it.

Les onsens, et le repas

70s style hotel with traditional room decor (rattan floor, futons etc) a short (uphill) walk from Gora station. Opted for the Jpanaese dinner and breakfast which were beatifully presented. Rooms have a sink and WC but showering is done in the communal (single sex) onsens downstairs. In the evening one of these small covered outdoor onsens is reserved for guests so each room can book it for 30 mins and then use it privately (mixed)

Very friendly staff; excellent kaseki dinner and breakfast in a convenient restaurant setting; spacious room; comfortable seating arrangement in the lobby in front of large windows (with plenty of games); authentic and real (sulfuric) hot spring onsen.

Building is a bit dated (especially the wood paneling by the onsen) but this is not really an issue since it's clean and with a nice atmosphere inside.

Excellent Ryokan and very hospitable and caring with every detail had been thought off and addressed. The food was excellent. Loved everything with no bone to pick ! Highly recommend this jewel!

great traditional place to stay. you need to take the train from Hakone to reach which takes like 30mins. there is fix menu for breakfast and dinner which you can attend with traditional clothes as well which is provided by the hotel. private onsen was also amazing specially at night. Tout était parfait du début à la fin. Le personnel est absolument adorable, toujours souriant, attentionné et aux petits soins. Les repas étaient un vrai régal : copieux, raffinés et mettant en valeur des produits de qualité. Chaque plat était une superbe découverte. L’onsen public est très agréable, propre et relaxant, idéal pour se détendre après une journée de visite. Gros coup de cœur également pour la possibilité de privatiser un onsen pendant 30 minutes par jour. Une expérience authentique et reposante que je recommande vivement.

Really enjoyed our stay here. I’m British and my partner is Dutch and it’s our first time in Japan so we wanted to stay 2 nights in Hakone as we travel from Tokyo to Kyoto. We were really overwhelmed when trying to find a place to stay as there are so many options in different locations, with all sorts of prices and offerings. We ended up choosing Lalaca and we are so glad we did as it was perfect for us. It doesn’t have many guests at one time which we really loved as it felt quite personal and cosy. I think there were maybe 18 guests staying there including us. The room was simple and beautiful and very clean with an amazing view. We had dinner and breakfast including and wow what an experience. So much work goes into this traditional Japanese cooking. There are so many small dishes. There is a lot of fish. It was really beautiful. They think about it a lot as those on their first night get a different dinner to those on their second night and same with breakfast so you’re always eating something new and they make sure you have one dinner by the window and one breakfast by the window. I’m not sure what happens if you stay more than 2 nights. The staff were incredibly warm and friendly. I asked them to help me organise a small surprise for my partners birthday and they seemed really happy to do so. The location was great. If you’re travelling on public transport like we were you just got to Gora station and walk from there. It’s about an 8 minute walk but a few minutes of that is uphill so will be tricky if you have a lot of luggage. We had backpacks and we enjoy walking so it was more than fine for us. Also this location is great as you are on the Hakone loop. Top tip get the Hakone freepass and do the cable car, rope way, pirate ship etc. It’s a great day out to easily explore the area. You just walk to join the cable car at Gora station.

Все понравилось! Замечательное место! Для тех кто любит приват и что то особенное. Расположение отличное. от Горы одну станцию вперед, что бы в гору не идти пешком. Номер просторный. Футоны удобные. Ужин кайсеки фантастический! Какая подача, фантазия. Все вкусно. Для местных жителей с детьми. Прекрасные впечатления. То, что и хотели увидеть. Приветливые хозяева. Юкаты можно выбрать. Мягкие, приятные. Мы приехали рано утром. Оставили вещи и поехали дальше все смотреть. Вернулись к ужину 18,00! Приватный онсен тоже входит в стоимость 30 минут. Но и общие Онсены замечательные! Рекомендую!

нет ни шнура , не переходника для зарядки мобильного телефона. По просьбе нам нашли один переходник, но он все равно не работал и ничего не зарядил. Хорошо , что был с собой накопитель.

Les Onsen étaient super ! Bêtement le bain que l’on peut privatiser, les repas étaient exquis, nous souhaitions connaître l’expérience du Ryokan sans avoir un gros budget, nous sommes très content !

La propreté n’est pas « niquel » car l’établissement est un peu vieillissant.

Highly recommend this ryokan! It was an amazing experience from beginning to the end. The dinner and breakfast were unbelievable good, served in a nice environment by great staff. The onsen experience was also amazing. Having the ability to reserve a private onset for 30 minutes per day was just perfect. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The room was also amazing with a nice view to the other side of Gora and its mountains. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Hakone. The ryokan was well located. It was walkable from Gora Station even with luggage.

Small establishment. Free use of the private onsen was a pleasant surprise. Food was wonderful!

We were prepared for the walk, but those coming by foot need to do some uphill walking. Luggage forwarding may be a consideration.

Location is not so accessible from the station if you have luggage, but you can take a quick taxi ride.

Ryokan très appréciable quand on recherche une expérience typique. On adoré les bains, intérieurs mais surtout extérieurs, et le personnel aux petits soins avec nous et nos enfants Repas très copieux et diversifiés. Ils ont été adaptés aux différents âges de nos enfants. 3 versions du menu, remarquable. Merci .
