Rivelyn Hotel Bar & Restaurant

Warm and friendly staff, hospitality superb. Bar and meal prices very reasonable and food quality excellent. Bar man was also very helpful and welcoming, explaining I could buy a bottle of wine and keep it in fridge to use as and when. Nothing to much trouble on asking for extra tea or milk etc. Lovely fluffy large bath towels. Overall great value for money. Stayed in many places in Scarborough, but my next stay in Scarborough, will defo be staying here.

Good sized room , clean , comfortable bed , good shower , staff were friendly and helpful , parking on the road was ok .There was a good choice for breakfast at a reasonable price . Evening meals in the bar were also reasonably priced , good basic food . I was quite surprised how good it was for the price .,

Decor in the room a bit plain and floorboards from the room above creaked a bit , but did'nt mind much because of the price

The room was really nice for a single person , also the bed was a nice comfy double , the interior of the hotel was done up nicely especially in the dining room and bar area . The corridors were a little narrow but pleasing with a nice warm touch and a great little area to sit down with a table / lamp and nice paintings , also bins to place any overspill litter from your room .

The only thing that could have been better during my stay was the size of the bathroom , as far as hotel bathrooms go it was cramped with barely enough room to move about and / or shower , but it was a 'single' room so i'm guessing a larger 'double' room will have had a larger space ? , but i got by and it did the job .

Been going since 2017. And on this occasion the bedding hadn't been changed. Told the chap at the reception and all was dealt with within 2 minutes.

We stayed in room 116, which was a lovely room with a very comfortable super king size bed & both a jacuzzi & separate shower in the bathroom. Staff were all really friendly & helpful. Breakfast was served from 7.30-11 & there were lots of different options. Didn't need to pre-book a time or menu option, which made it very flexible. Also a bar & evening meals available too and not expensive. Could walk to the sea front easily enough, but situated in a quieter location.

It was the best room I've stayed in at the Rivelyn - L-shaped, with a desk and an armchair in the shorter part. Staff, as ever, were excellent, especially the busy, but always cheerful, receptionist/barman. Meal in the evening was fine.

I was looking to give 8, but sadly breakfast was a let down: not really capable of dealing with a rush of customers, but 25 minutes waiting for egg on toast was a bit much.

Good hotel. Staff is adorable and helpful. Location is quite convenient, as it is very close to the main points. Size of the bedroom was also adequate for my purpose.

The bedroom was clean, but I felt that the carpet was a bit humid, and I didn't have cleaning during the days that I stayed there. In general, the bedroom would benefit from a modernization.

It's a basic hotel but at a reasonable price which makes it good for a short stay. Staff are pleasant and helpful. It's an easy walk to the centre and the railway station.

Recently redecorated, The Rivelyn offers great value for money in an ideal location. The room and ensuite bathroom/shower were really comfortable, well-appointed and clean. Didn't have the breakfast, but for a 5-night stay it was great, and at an attractive price. Staff were most pleasant and helpful.

We've just stayed in the apartment. There was everything we need for a great stay. Comfortable bed, fully equip kitchen and washing machine. got our own parking space., which was an added bonus. Friendly staff

The staff I did see was lovely. The room was quite clean. Great location from beach. Bit of a walk to tourist attractions but I liked that. Was a decent stay for the price.

I did have an issue with being served out of date cheese twice. Was given £3 back despite all food not being eaten... The shower in the room was awful as was covered top to bottom in lime scale and was awkward to use. The staff upon me leaving didn't ask how my stay was the woman moved two new guests out of the way to grab my key then bye.

We loved everything about it the accommodation was very clean and comfortable the bed was comfortable the staff were amazing very attentive and the breakfast we had was delicious

Hotel was nice just a bit dated. Room was comfy, TV was small but didn't go for that. Bathroom was a bit cramped but the shower was hot so happy days. Would stay again

The location was great, not too loud but not too far away from the town centre and attractions.

The beds were a bit too soft for me but were good for my partner.

Television didn't work properly. Wasn't tuned on properly. Remote control only had a few buttons that worked making it difficult to use tv. Asked for room to be cleaned on Saturday but got back and had to go and get fresh towels, soaps and coffee as it hadn't been done.

The location is perfect and it is reasonably priced. We were supplied with a hair drying and the bedroom and bath room was a good size. The shower was nice too. We had good wardrobe space.

We have to dust the shelf before using it. The pillows were too flat even with having 2 each. And we only have 4 milks which was okay for the first day but we were their 3 days and we didn't have anyone top them up in the day whilst we were out. Our bin wasn't emptied either. Also their were marks all down the curtains and the window netting was very grubby. The windows were very thin too so you could hear the outside noises all night.

I am genuinely concerned I’ve been bitten by bedbugs. I have itchy red bumps in several places on my body that have been appearing and worsening since my stay.

A lovely independent hotel in a good location in Scarborough. An easy walk into town over the footbridge. The room was spacious, quiet, comfortable. It has a good bar and lounge area and breakfast was really nice.

Could maybe do with a bit of modernisation in parts, new carpets, bit of painting that sort of thing, but it's a minor criticism.

DOGS. I know hotels need to do everything to get customers but never a fan of dogs in hotels especially when you are eating you breakfast and a dog comes sniffing round.

I've stayed at the Rivelyn many times due to its central location and it has dog friendly rooms when I bring my dogs. Staff are very nice and helpful too. Breakfast is plentiful and lots of choice and my bed was so comfy I didn't want to get up.

N/A. Yes some of the rooms are dated but they are clean and at the end of the day I don't go away to stay in my room, I use the room as a base!

My room was totally unacceptable really for the amount of money I paid, it was like a hotel room from the 1970's poor quality furnishings the sink not even in the bathroom ,worn carpets, I think it drastically needs upgrading

Great location, very easy to get to. The staff are mega sweet, they were helpful and informative. The room was perfect with a really powerful shower which I like. Breakfast was delicious, unfortunately I didn't get round to trying dinner but I will next time I come over. Great place! 👌

Δύο λεπτά περπάτημα κ είσαι σε μια τοποθεσία με εξαιρετική πανοραμική θέα. Το δωμάτιο δεν με ικανοποίησε αλλά ήταν όπως περίμενα βάση της τιμής στην περιοχή. ;

Το δωμάτιο παραμελημένο και παλιό αλλά δικαιολογημένα λόγω καλής χαμηλές τιμής για τα δεδομένα της περιοχης. Όμως η καθαριοτητα κάτω του μετρίου. Η ρεσεψιονίστ δεν θα έλεγα ότι ήταν ευγενικη. Ενώ είχαν έναν ωραίο χώρο για πρωινό μείνετε στα βασικά, η ποιότητα υλικών στο extra πρωινό κακή. Θα πρότεινα πιο ακριβό πρωινό με καλύτερα υλικά.

Stayed here several times, great value for money and convenient for the attractions of Scarborough and the railway station (10 minutes walk). A couple of minutes walk from the high level coastal road which has stunning views of the sea. Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely little lift to reach the higher floors.

Location is great, room is good and spacious, staff members are helpful, the public space where you can get WiFi is comfortable. It was in general a pleasant stay.

The tv signal in my room was not great and I wasn't really able to watch anything; it does make it a bit inconvenient as there's also no WiFi in the room (the WiFi issue is specified on the booking page so I did know in advance, and I was prepared for it; the tv issue was unexpected) It was a little inconvenient, as the time I stayed was world cup time and also the temperature was hot, so I was caught in the situation of whether to open windows at night to cool down, or to close the windows and get away from the noises from football watchers in the pub across the street; again this is just unfortunate timing, and soundproof was okay when the windows were closed! And if you like to have a pub close by then it would be great. Soundproof from the adjacent rooms is a bit bad; just the usual old house issues!

The hotel is in a great location and all the staff members that I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent value for money.

The room price was exorbitantly expensive for this level of hotel but there was a lot going on in town on the night I stayed. The bed was very squeaky. TV signal very patchy

Very clean traditional Scarborough small hotel. Friendly staff. 5 minute walk from the station set on a quiet back road just metres from the front.

The hotel was clean. Dated yes but clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff exceptionally friendly. Only thing was the price! Because there were big bands on, the room was 3 times the price. Food ok, basic fare but very fairly priced. Definitely going back.

Pleasant stay, stayed before and will stay there again. Room good Tv, shower worked well, also a bath, which was a little small for my 6 foot frame. Friendly staff. Range of breakfast options which you pay for 'on ordering, so you're not tied to a cooked breakfast every morning if you don't want it! Evening meals, 7 oz rump, just short of 12 quid was excellent value!, Quiet location, and away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Sports bar over the road, which can attract a 'certain crowd' but no obvious disturbance from that, however I was at the back of the hotel.

Not the hotel's fault, but a corner shop close by for papers and other small items would be nice. Nearest shop, I think, stand to be corrected, is the big supermarket chain beginning with T over the bridge. Bar tariff and selection of drinks good, but the hotel may consider a small revision of soft drink prices, thought 1.50 for a pint of orange cordial was a tad on the high side, especially if you have two or three thirsty youngsters in tow!

Very friendly and helpful . Really enjoyed my stay and will definitely return.

I asked for some more tea and milk for the room ,they gave me 4. As i was there for 5 nights it wasn't enough but I didn't like to ask for more I couldn't buy any for myself because the milk would go off with the very hot weather we were having.

Bathroom a bit tired, toilet loose on the floor, taps don’t really work properly and could have gone with an extra five minutes cleaning as a few hairs etc, but nothing bad

Only downside was if you don't have own transport it's a bit of a hike from station..and then up a hill. Able bodied people shouldn't have any problems..
