Location Ideal for us

Good location – just a short walk into Largs. The room was clean and comfortable.

The décor was slightly tired (as has been the case with many of the ‘budget’ hotels we had booked for overnight stops on our NC500 road trip). The door to the W.C. was ill-fitted and wouldn’t shut properly and some of the ceramic floor-tiles were cracked in places (what was it with the mirror over the wash-basin being stuck on top of another larger mirror)? Weird!

Room and bathroom very small. The room decor was very tired , it was like walking back into the 1970's. Hope I didn't wake the rest of the hotel up with noisiest shower I've ever come across. The room was in need of a new carpet.

It was a quaint property, great location, friendly staff and the bed was incredible. Comfortable but also stunning carpentry of the frame, it was beautiful and certainly the focus of the room and the balcony was a great added bonus. So much so we will be trying to source a four poster bed like it. We also love how dog friendly the hotel is, it made out stay so much more comfortable.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Perfect position and location, nice house

Ideal location for walking the Ayrshire Coastal Path as its on the route and just a few minutes walk into town. Friendly welcoming staff.

It was close to the town and a reasonable price.

It was quite tired and needs updating very basic room. Not a lot of interaction from the owner, didn’t mention they had a bar, things to do and see etc!

The place was clean. The room was well set up with everything needed. The bed was comfortable,Breakfast very tasty. Staff lovely. Good location just beside everything but also quiet with ready access to the shore and dog walking.

The location was great and it was just a one night stop over. The room although a bit small was lovely and bright with 2 big windows. The breakfast was absolutely lovely as was the lady in the dinning room serving you, she was so pleasant, couldn’t do enough for you

If i had to say one thing it would be the bathroom, the door scraped the floor and the shower head did not fit in the fixings

The location was great, and quiet. We stayed on a Monday/tuesday. Very dog friendly with no arbitrary expensive dog charge everywhere else seems to charge. Our puppy had a great little trip there. Bed was comfy. Rooms were super warm but it was July maybe take a fan of you struggle at night in the heat! Very friendly helpful owner

I recently stayed at The Woodhouse Hotel in Largs and was genuinely impressed. The breakfast was excellent, with great quality and generous portions that set us up perfectly for the day. The team also had our room ready for an early check‑in, which was a tremendous advantage as we needed to get changed and head straight off to a wedding. This thoughtful flexibility made our stay smooth and stress‑free. Overall, a very positive experience.

If I were to note one small downside, the room—while clean and comfortable—could benefit from a more modern feel, particularly around the shower area. It didn’t detract from our stay, but a little updating would make the experience even better. Overall, a welcoming hotel with great service and a few areas that could be refreshed.

Friendly staff - Lovely room with four poster bed and a small balcony. Really tasty breakfast with freshly cooked local products. Nice bar area. Short distance to walk to the main town.

Great location, staff where very friendly and welcoming couldn't do enough. Place was spotless although a little dated.

Only down sides was the noise from traffic early in the morning and I know it sounds silly but the light bulbs where very dull a brighter bulb in the lamps would be great and also bulbs of the same light on the ceiling not different bulbs I.e. two warm light one bright which was in the light fitting 3 bulbs of the same light would look more professional

I felt that the price was very high. We wanted to be close to my daughter's flat or would have stayed somewhwe cheaper. Add to that the dogs change of £20 PER DOG PER NIGHT, which is normal for a hotel but makes me mad. it was a very expensive night. I understand a dog charge but I can't understand charging for both dogs? Neither made any mess although I appreciate more cleaning may be required for hairs, but not per dog. £20 extra would be reasonable, not £40 in my opinion.

The location was ideal being on the sea front. I was in room number 7 which has a king sized bed, extremely comfortable. The room had an oil heater that made the room nice and cosy.

I couldn't really fault anything about the hotel. The only minor complaint is the lack of sugar on the complementaries tray, but I should have pointed that out to my host

I liked everything

A great location, so close to the seafront, a very short walk from the centre but lovely and quiet! Such a lovely spacious room with a huge comfortable bed we slept so well! Very dog friendly. Lots of great advice from the owners, we took their recommendations and had a wonderful few drinks, meals and a trip out on the ferry we might not have found otherwise. An exceptional breakfast with plenty of choice and cooked perfectly. We booked our stay after visiting family in Scotland but already want to come back!

I had stayed for an overnight a few weeks ago and everything was just as good this time around. The room was clean and warm, the breakfast was tasty and the staff very helpful.

An absolute gem of a place, perfect hosts, amazing food, and the most comfortable bed ever. I will certainly be back I have stayed in places that charge twice the price that are no where near as nice as here.

Place very dated, damp smell as walking through the door! Odd furniture everywhere! Even tho the beds where very comfortable there was no headboards on the beds. Plus room was small! No where to do hair or make up. Or get ready as such. Excepted more for £130 a night! Plus could see right into the neighbours house next door!

access to the town

an online pre visit checking in form was totally unnecessary, being approached in the carpark as we loaded our luggage as the owner thought we were running off without paying, yet he was not around when I earlier wanted to pay, this was totally over the top, and unnecessary. We have travelled all over Europe and not had this experience previously. The owners excuse was that he has not signed up for the Booking .com prepayment system. His problem, hardly ours.

We didn't breakfast at the hotel this time but I have done before and it was fine. The location was good. Slightly outside the town centre but that was what we wanted. Nice comfortable room and en-suite. Pleasant staff too.

On arrival the hotel smelled of damp but the room was excellent. Clean, Lovely and bright with tea and coffee facilities. Toilet was spotless. The.owners were friendly and accommodating, it had a well stocked bar. The breakfast was very enjoyable, lots to choose from,. The full breakfast was particularly great and definitely a full plateful.

We didn't like the musky smell at the reception. We also were a bit put out when the gentleman asked us to pay a bar bill on departure as we had paid for our drinks at the bar when we ordered.a

Shower/bathroom is small. No comfy seating in room, felt that it could to with an upkeep decoration wise. No good if you have difficulty climbing stairs, especially carrying suitcases, no rooms downstairs.

Situation of hotel was good , clean n tidy , hosts were nice n pleasant , outside was nice and inviting , good parking , enjoyed my fry up breakfast the woodhouse grill.

For my price for single bed & breakfast including own shower n toilet seemed a little expensive for couple of nights , but for location I get it a little , building inside a little worn and tired , could do with a little upgrading ,as much as there was a menu I didn't know where to find cereals etc. Till my second day having breakfast , the display could have been better too as everything wasn't matching in same containers too bit mis- matched , I found the bar to be most dearest for drinks too compared to in town. This is of course my own personal review...
