The hotel is located near the famous Vitoria Garden in the city area and provides very comfortable, spacious rooms. We enjoyed a very good breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant. For visitors who are looking for a colonial type hotel, this is the place.

The pictures are completely unreal, don't match at all with reality. Furniture is much older, bathroom is deteriorated... Really bad experience.It is impossible to consider this hotel as four stars.

到着時に紅茶をくれた。 翌朝の朝食の卵料理の調理の希望を聞いてくれた。

シャワーが熱湯か冷水しか出なかったので、熱いのと寒いのが繰り返してしんどくなって、使うのをやめた。 WIFIがとても遅く、スマホとPCの両方を繋げてもPCではまともに動かなかった。

Un hotel d’estil britànic ben situat però necessita una reforma total per recuperar l’encant. Podria ser un lloc molt millor amb una bona inversió. Està en un estat força decadent. El personal és molt atent i professional, fan tot el possible perquè et sentis a gust.

L’estat de les habitacions és molt millorable. Parets sense pintar, moqueta vella, la TV i alguns endolls no funcionaven. Segur que hi ha llocs millors on dormir.

Tuctuc chauffeur die hotel ons aanraadde was niet betrouwbaar.. leidde ons naar heel verre theeplantage die geen draaiend productieproces kon laten zien op zondag… chauffeur zou dat zeker hebben geweten.

The staff were absolutely lovely, kind and accomodating. The manager Milan was wonderful. The location and the external appearance was also good. The bar and dining room were nice, and Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. The staff went out of their way to help us feel comfortable.

Our room (and all other rooms we saw) were very dank and mouldy. The bathroom was full of mould, including the ceiling, walls, and bottom of the bath which was covered in black mould. I didn’t take a shower and used the public bathroom. We felt sick and congested after sleeping in the room. We were also very excited to use the pool table, but were told there is no pool table to use at the moment. The owner needs to address the mould issues in the rooms and bathroom. It’s not fair to charge $50 US a night for such poor rooms.

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Glendower. The staff were warm and welcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was excellent. Great value for money, and I would happily stay here again. Highly recommended!

Het hotel heeft echt zijn beste tijd gehad (juli 2026). Ze waren aan het verbouwen dus hopelijk wordt het beter. Prijs - kwaliteit verhouding is het niet waard. We hadden een 4 persoonskamer met een groot twee persoonsbed en een enkel bed, één kind moest dus bij ons in bed slapen. Op zich geen ramp, alleen niet helemaal wat we verwacht hadden.

A dated, very well-maintained colonial-style home! I was allowed an early check-in upon arrival, welcome drinks, and even a towel after a long-haul flight. The staff was very accommodating and hospitable to the requests. It's perfectly located just outside Victoria Park, and the breakfast served was exceptional. 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya.

Location, Hospitality, politeness of staff, warm welcome, food, garden, colonial look and cleanliness. It was my marriage anniversary and we planned tour to srilanka with my wife and daughter. We booked junior suit. It's nearby to city center of nuwara eliya. Mr. Benedict, is a nice person. He took care of us very good. He arrange decoration in bar room with baloons and all stuff. He arranged very nice wine bottle and such a nice premium quality cake with sparkling ✨️ candel. Mr. Benedict and all staff really make my day. I cannot forget the all things they do for me and my family. Highly recommend for stay in nuwara eliya.

It's a very beautiful hotel located in a very convenient place. Loved the garden. It was full of flowers in May. Loved my small getaway there.

Wer England liebt, wird das Glendower lieben. Ich hatte die Junior Suite und ein kleines Wohnzimmer mit Sofa und Sessel, selbstverständlich mit demselben Bezug wie auch die Gardinen. Extrem gut ist die Lage fast direkt neben dem Grand Hotel, wo man unbedingt ab 16:00 einen High Tea genießen sollte. Sehr praktisch ist es, dass das Glendower über einen eigenen Pub verfügt, in dem man abends bis 22:00 den Tag bei einem kühlen Tiger ausklingen lassen kann. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut.

The location of the hotel was very good, supermarket right in the next building. The staff was exteremely courteous, and helped us plan our stay in Nuwara Eliya. The rooms are nice and roomy, super comfy beds and heater was provided for the chilly nights. The Srilankan breakfast provided was super yummy (and available in vegetarian options).

I chipped off 1 star from overal ratings due to bathroom fixtures. On the second day we did not get any hot water in bathroom (essential in Nuwara Eliya where temps were as low as 11 celcius), the staff tried to allocate other room bathroom but fixtures were not working there either.

La localisation est bonne.

Chambre extrêmement humide limite insalubre. Les murs sont remplis de moisissures et l’odeur est horrible. Impossible d’aérer la chambre, la fenêtre est cassée. Et pour finir le tout aucune pression dans la douche, au point que le personnel de l’hôtel a dû intervenir car plus aucune eau ne coulait. Cet hôtel a besoin d’être entièrement refait pour pouvoir pratiquer des prix comme ils le font aujourd’hui. Aussi, le petit déjeuner n’est pas bon.

Très bon emplacement. Personnel sympathique qui nous a rapidement trouvé une solution suite à un soucis de chambre.

Première chambre collée au restaurant, odeurs et bruits,, salle de bain vetuste. L'hôtel nécessite un rafraîchissement, notamment des salles de bain.

We paid for a bathroom with a bath, but there was no proper plug in the drain, so you couldn't take a bath. No view on the garden.

Gammelt og nedslidt hotel. Koldt og fugtigt. Vi frøs hele natten. Fin morgenmad og venligt og imødekommende personale som gjorde deres bedste. Men stedet er absolut klart til nedrivning.

A little past it’s prime

Great location, next to new food court and Victoria Park, and only ten mins walk to main town area. Lovely staff, a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast.

Hotel sorely in need of updating and maintenance. It is a beautiful, historic building with many original features and the potential is enormous. However in reality the hotel bedroom needed repainting, upholstery cleaned, bathroom sealant applied and damp patches on the walls addressed. The bathtub needs to be re enamelled and skirting boards replaced.

Le personnelle très accueillant et serviable , très bon service , bon petit déjeuner. La route à pied au centre très sympa à marcher. Les draps très propre.

On a eu la chambre très abîmé et senti la moisissure. La dernier avec 2 lit séparé, les chambre avec un lit double était plus propre et rénové.

Rooms are 'tired looking' and in need badly of refurbishment. Bathrooms are old and didn't smell good.

Det var mysigt med en riktig engelsk upplevelse. Nära centrum! Det fanns trevlig pub och restaurang!

Det var fuktigt inne på rummet vilket gjorde våra sängkläder fuktiga och det fanns ingen luftkonditionering. Men annars var allt toppen! Det var ju en gammal byggnad så det är förståeligt:)

Здание отеля в ужастном состоянии. Второй этаж сгнил. Полы сгнили. Напольные покрытия сгнили. Матрацы черные, старые. Занавески оборваны, грязные. В номерах затхлый запах. Сантехника работает, но все болтается.

Regnade när vi var där vilket gjorde att det blev lite rått och kallt innomhus. Vi hade inte räknat med att behöva ha med tjockare tröjor på resan, nu vet vi det!

Шикарный отель.Хорошее расположение, персонал просто чудо. Вечером можно покушать в отеле в ресторане по меню, вкусно и недорого. Есть совй паб. В номере все необходимое для проживания. При повторном посещении выберу этот отель еще раз, одной ночи не хватило ).

Natürlich in die Jahre gekommenes Hotel, aber das ist ja auch völlig ok, wenn man es ich ein englisches Herrenhaus als Hotel aussucht. Einfach charmant der Baustil und Personal im Hochland einer Tropeninsel. Und außerdem ein sehr gutes Frühstück incl.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Glendower Hotel during the Ditwah cyclone of late November 2025, the most devastating storm to hit the area since 1947. For days there was no public transport, no internet no ATMs or card payment and no escape from the conditions. The staff were ALL endlessly kind and helpful to us; from cleaning staff to management I offer my sincere thanks. They too suffered from being unable to contact loved ones during the emergency but continued to provide an excellent service. We loved the hotel. It is full of colonial-style charm and elegance with beautiful gardens, a very convenient location but most importantly the professionalism of the small but dedicated staff. We thoroughly recommend The Glendower Hotel!

L’aspect extrêmement suranné et improbable d’un tel hôtel au Sri Lanka. On se croirait dans un cottage britannique vieillissant au charme désuet. Personnel très agréable et prêt à se mettre en quatre pour les clients.

Although it’s dated it’s really comfortable. Has a good atmosphere about it. Staff were very accommodating and all nice and friendly. Nice little bar to relax in on an evening. Lovely garden to sit outside. It’s in a perfect location, only few minutes walk into the main town.

Since it’s much cooler here than in other parts of Sri Lanka, the hot towels felt especially comforting. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and a water kettle was provided. The bed and sheets were the most comfortable we’ve had during our entire trip. The night before, we were asked which type of breakfast we preferred, and we chose the Sri Lankan breakfast. It was amazing — a perfect combination of a high-class hotel breakfast and a traditional Sri Lankan selection of dishes. As we were the only guests having breakfast early in the morning, Sharat offered us a personal, butler-like service. Our whole stay was an unforgettable experience for us backpackers, and we were truly treated like royalty.
