Location was superb. Staff demeanor and how they kept the place was excellent.

Something to improve on maybe is to put some privacy curtains on the bunk beds for shared rooms and to offer ear plugs too

Die einzigartige Lage und das tolle Cafe mit dem guten und leckeren Angebot. Ausserdem war ixh froh, dass die Betten sehr stabil und sauber waren.

Die einzige Lüftung im Schlafsaal war ein offener Spalt im Fenster. Ausserdem haben die Zimmer Teppichboden.

Everything! The place is stunning and a perfect location for our trip to Whitby. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we just had an amazing stay. Booked fairly last minute due to weather changes and no longer camping. Oh and the food was great too!

The beds are a little hard, but you know it's not going to be like your bed at home.

Mijn dubbele boeking werd ondanks dat het via booking.com niet refundable was toch omgezet ter plekke in ruil voor ontbijt. Super fijn dat er meegedacht werd door de medewerker! De lokatie is echt fantastisch bij de abbey en je kunt er gratis parkeren. Top

De toilet rook niet heel fris, het was niet vies op het oog maar het rook gewoon niet zo fris.

Such a beautiful hostel in an incredible location. There's really something magical about this hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful; the room was spacious and had a view down over Whitby and the river Esk. There is a roomy lounge with conservatory. Somebody seems to have a hand with plants and the garden looks professionally maintained: there is a traditional medieval herb garden, a dragon statue (based on an ancient wood carving unearthed in the building), a fig tree and even a plant sale area - all under the gaze of Whitby Abbey, a stone's throw away. Also, a great cafe and bar area - the outdoor part of which looks down on the town. A really exceptional place to stay!

The parking is limited and decidedly pokey to navigate unless you have a tiny car!

Eine tolle Lage neben der Abbey und mit Blick über die Stadt. Die Gemeinschaftsräume sind sehr schön und gemütlich. Freundliches Personal und funktionale Einrichtung im Schlafsaal.

Die Matratze war sehr durchgelegen und das Fenster fiel daher immer zu. Daher war keine gute Luft im Schlafsaal.

What a stunning location and building. Huge lounges, comfy bunks, well equipped kitchen and a restaurant/ bar on site.

That it’s better value via YHA direct. Lesson learnt.

I had a wonderful stay in Whitby! I stayed in the female dorm, which was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect for me, with the most stunning views right on your doorstep! Great value for money, and I would definitely recommend it!

The location was amazing, managed to get a parking space in the car park. YHA cafe food was lovely (my kids recommend the chicken nuggets and chips) and great value! We stayed in the bell tent and the facilities (kitchen and toilet/shower rooms) were great and very clean. Free entry ticket to the abbey was a lovely little bonus!

Due to the hot weather we have been having we couldn't use the log burners at all in the bell tent (not YHA fault) but it did mean later on once the temperature dropped we all really did end up quite cold so had to really layer up for bed.

The hostel was not clean; the floor was dirty, and there were many cobwebs on the windows. Also, laundry service was not available. Note, three are 10 pp in the room not 6 with only 4 lockers 🥲

Lovely old building. Very helpful team members. Cafe/bar was great.

Apart from our room not being cleaned everything was great. The team member on reception sorted our room very quickly.

Communal areas- everything included and easy to use. Cafe and outside area was a bonus with beautiful views across Whitby. Perfect location being next to the Abbey with free entry.

Rooms including bathroom should be cleaned to a higher standard.

We stayed in the 2 bell tents which were in a secure location and we had the whole facilities to ourselves. Free parking and a free pass to the abbey. Pizza available to order until 2am. Clean showers and toilets. Great kitchen facilities with plenty of room to chill.

Futon was a bit uncomfortable but the other beds were perfect

Es war grossartig, ein besonderer Ort mit einen 450 Jahre alten Anwesen- English Heritage - und dieser Ort dient jungen Menschen, um sie der Natur naeher zu bringen.....vorbildlich gefuehrt....

Erstklassige Jugendherberge in fantastischer Lage! Freundliche Mitarbeiter und gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis zum Zeitpunkt unserer Buchung. Haben uns auch sehr über die Eintrittskarte zur Abbey gefreut! Würden gerne wieder kommen! Ecellent youth hostel in great location! Friendly staff, good atmosphere and very good value the time we had booked. We were also very happy with the ticket to the Abbey which was fantastic! Would love to come back!

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Beautiful location. Rooms quite spacious. A very well equipped kitchen. Water stations to fill up your water bottle. Realy enjoyed the cafe/ restaurant - lovely staff, a nice welcoming environment and good food. You also get complimentary admission to the abbey which is right on the doorstep (normally £16).

As it's next to the abbey and up 199 steps it is quite secluded which is great, but not so close to any other amenities.

The location is excellent.with complimentary access to the abbey.

Website for YHA states weekend breakfast served til 10. We arrived at 9.45 and it was all packed away. Asked a member of staff what time breakfast was served til and they stayed 9.30

Half of the house was not set up as it used to be, no games room for kids, no access to conservatory, very limited things to do for younger guests games, chess... access to sanitary products for ladies during the night with unexpected periods.

The location is amazing just next to almost all of the attractions. Plus you got the tickets to visit the abbey for free plus parking. Definitely best spot in Whitby. We visited in the really nice weather day , feel amazed every time we passed the abbey.

The dorm I was staying in could do with a reading bed light for each bed. Instead of using the only main light and disturbing others that's trying to sleep.

Not much parking near place itself and quite tight if have large vehicle at turning around , and parking does fill up quickly near abbey too, hard work if have suitcases and weather bad But I guess that’s Whitby on a whole ! Room we stayed in was large and well equipped with extra sockets which was appreciated, but unfortunately the shower room smelt horrendous so we bought air freshener while out and kept door closed as much as possible , as the smell did enter the room, we had to sleep with window open Bin in room didn’t have liner in which we couldn’t understand as would have made things easier for the cleaner ! Few common areas in need of fresh paint too
