The gentleman at reception was extremely friendly and welcoming.

The pictures on Booking.Com, of the facility are extremely deceiving. The location is UNSAFE. Upon check-in , the room we had booked, had not been cleaned /bed was not made up and we had to be moved to another room. The place is bad.

In the rooms there was no fridge and no microwave. In order to watch the tv we had to call someone to come and switch it on for us because there was no remote.

The beds were the only letdown for us, beds were so uncomfortable that they could use an upgrade.

except for 2 people on the morning of checkout, the staff on duty for the 2 days were unfriendly. they say they clean the rooms but only the beds were made and the rubbish thrown out, no sweeping, nothing. the passages

Very friendly , and help full .and free room servers , and even for long stay you get everyday fresh things and clean beding... And also in the building is plenty entertainment ...also buget friendy..

The only thing we didnt like mayby is for the room didnt have a toaster . That all nothing big.

The overall service..people not friendly. The room had a smell. The passages dirty. The basin plug faulty...water could not drain. Brown and red water coming from shower. The cutlery in room looks like children played with it. You habe 2 ask for more cutlery and coffee and tea and extras like a iron. They make the beds but dont sweep and clean the rooms.

Very misleading advertising of the hotel. It is in a very bad area. Pub and gambling facility attached to the hotel. I did not feel safe enough to stay there,so cancelled the booking

The hotel is quintessential for staying overnight. The room was comfortable, a microwave in the room would be an asset. We enjoyed the stay.

Review – Hotel Portao Diaz Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Portao Diaz was very disappointing. The photos online are quite misleading compared to the actual condition of the rooms. The room we stayed in was not clean and appeared poorly maintained. The bathroom had visible mould and did not feel hygienic. The furniture was damaged and worn, with chipped wood and poor finishes, which gave the impression that basic maintenance has been neglected. Another issue was that toiletries advertised with the room were not provided, which was inconvenient and disappointing. Overall, the property felt run down and somewhat shady, which made the stay uncomfortable. This is not what we expected based on the pictures and listing. For the price paid, the condition, cleanliness, and missing advertised amenities were far below acceptable standards. Management should address the maintenance and hygiene issues and ensure that the photos and amenities listed online accurately reflect what guests actually receive. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

We did not stay there. We thought we had booked at the Diaz Boutique Hotel and when we got there they had no booking. On arrival at your hotel, after having been redirected, we found the location of your Hotel to be in an unsafe area for pensioners. We then had to seek alternative accommodation.

I was served with the breakfast that I did not order, bread had too much butter. No cereal, no fruit, as for me it was first time to come across with this. It was not good at all

The place looked different from what we booked, and it didn’t meet the standards and it was different.

My stay was pleasant and more attention should be put towards the popi act and that staff should be trained this poses a risk for geust and community at large .staff should not disclose details and information of geust whatever the circumstances unless its purely about a booking ,this is saddened that staff engage into private matters that can escalate and potential disturb other geust stay they should be professional at all times.

Despite what has been said on social media,we(my family and I)gave Portoa Diaz Hotel a try. Upon arriving,the reception lady was very friendly.Before I fetched my family in the parking area(no porter service but hey,3 star hotel)I made sure everything is up to standard in our room.The room was very clean and I slept comfortably(also had no complaints from my wife and kids.)The kids enjoyed the swimming pool that was very clean and well maintained.Breakfast was good and the kitchen staff catered to our needs.Overall my stay was a 10 out of 10 for a 3star Hotel. I will most def be visiting again

I love Jaden's service he gave us. He would go the extra mile making sure our stay was pleasant. The entire staff treated us super well. I would definitely recommend people to stay and I will definitely visit again.

We had booked this property without no knowledge of the location or the state of the accomodation. When we got to the property we could visibly see the the property was located in a very sketchy area, but nonetheless we decided to go inside and have a look at the premisses as we also had no other place booked, we had the chance the view our rooms...which we were greatly shocked, they were smelly (actually looked like someone had just used the toilet in there as it was smelly) the doors looked like they were already broken into in the past as there were extra pieces of wood that looked like was concealing the lock that had been broken into. Anyhow to make a long story short, we ended up not staying there as we felt really unsafe. We did ask the receptionist if we could have a refund and she said that we need to solicit that online as we paid online as well, two weeks after and I am still waiting for my refund. And not to mention that I have heard nothing back from this property. And I still had to make plans to book another property last minute, causing extra stress and financial strain. So if I could rate this property any lower I would.

nothing. Arrived around 6.00pm. Immediately the place did not look like pictures,extremely run down with rusted window frames cords hanging out windows. Grossly misrepresented. no parking at front. Sign says additional parking in rear. When we went around back trash lying in bundles. Absolutely filthy. I have never written a bad review or not stayed if my expectations were not met. So scary and filthy could not let my family stay there. We ended up leaving. Wrote an email to booking .com. They decided to give me a R193.75 travel credit against my R3840 I paid to a room I did not even walk into. An absolute insult.

Location is really bad, people shouting through the night, dogs barking. Cars zooming up and down and hooters all the time. In considerate guests making alot of noise early hours of the morning.

My best stay in Mosselbay so far, nice view of the ocean. It was a great experience staying at the Hotel.The price for the rooms were budget friendly and staff were so kind. Thank you and looking forward to coming again in 2026 Lordwilling.

The location made us seem extremely unsafe, and upon inspecting the rooms, the doors looked like it had already been broken into. The toilet looked like it had just been used by someone because it was a little smelly. Unfortunately not a great experience, we have requested a part of our money back as a refund and 2 days after we are still expecting a response from the place. We were extremely disappointed 😞 Do not recommend at all

This isn’t the type of hotel I’d book for a holiday to be honest. It was okay for one night (even that was too much for my husband) The place really needs an upgrade and a deep clean. I didn’t feel clean even after the shower. I remember staying at this place with my parents 20years ago and even then it was really bad. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep and you don’t care about anything else (and I mean LITERALLY anything else) then this is your answer. But if you’re looking for a better place with more of a holiday feel or just somewhere nice then this is the hotel for you

Our group of 21 people arrived at Portao Diaz on 27 Nov for a 3 night stay to be told by the Manager that there was a problem with our booking in that she thought we were only arriving the following day, she couldn't accommodate us for our first night. Arrangements were made with nearby Airbnb's to accommodate us for the night. Airbnb was great, however when we returned the following day to the hotel, we were appalled at the condition of the rooms and bathrooms of this supposed 3 star hotel. Our bathroom was literally 1.5m x 1.5m, grubby, old and drains were blocked. We were 4 ladies in a room, too many, the room can facilitate max 2 people, no hairdryer. Hotel is in the a residential area, if you don't have transport, it's difficult to get around, away from the beach, away from town. How this hotel received a 3 star is beyond me. This should be assessed. It's more of a Motel.

Hotel was located close to our function venue. Staff was friendly and knew what and where to go for eats etc. Car parking was very safe. Room had nice view of ocean.

Bath/shower drainage was not good. Door was noisy during night. It does not seal properly when closed. Room floor was not freshly cleaned for our first night.

Pathetic! Pictures on website is totally misleading. Hotel situated in a run down, unsafe area. No security. Load guests drinking and playing dominos till early morning. Dirty and unkept. Doors do not lock - had to put my luggage in front of door as security. Broken handles, Unstable Wi-Fi and general feel of untidiness.

The whole place stink, the room dirty, The bed is worn out, old. No. hand towels, now microwave, cutlery in the room. The building is old and need urgent TLC. False advertising. Place look nice on the internet, but look totally different in reallity.

Pictures posted on site is catfishing, property looks totally different in person, hotel had a smell. This place is basically just for you to sleep and leave in the morning if you happy with that then go for it. Property is in a residential area, the area looks rough.

The beds were suitable for us to just put our heads down and sleep for the night,but the hotel really needs work on.

Firstly we could get the smell of a stinky dirty mop the cleaner was using to clean,it didn't smell good down the hallway. Secondly when we came in our rooms the side tables and lamps were dusty. Thirdly the shower was putrid I had to wait 12 to 15 minutes just for the water to get hot, My sister's room the tub was dirty and stained and the door was dirty. The cupboards inside are not cleaned. We went to swim but when we got there the pool had chips packets in. The location totally caught us off guard because the pictures on the website and the hotel and surroundings does not add up. We not here to complain but it's best you guys fix things so that you can get good ratings.

Online looks like a place to stay family orientated. Upon arrival there where the hotel is run down, the pool not working . The welcoming was good, but for 3* look we felt like below Backpacker standard. there is staunch smell . Beds too old mattress needs to be replace was like sleep on the floor. I would grade the place zero star. Due to Residents hanging their clothes on the balcony real bad. Garden poor no quality nothing..... i felt unsafe for my family but due to the night we could not drive any further. But will never come back there

We had very expensive equipment and place was definitely not safe.What is advertised on booking .Com is not what the place looks like from the outside so we did not use accomadation .did request a cancelation and pay back our money.

My biggest concern was the fact that there was no wifi for me and wife in our room. As my wife is a little oversize. The toilet was not comfortable for her to use.. Sitting down. There was no fridge in the room. The bed /mattress was not of the best.
