The Lion Gate Mews

This is our go to place to stay for Hampton Court Palace visits. Fantastic location right on the door step of the palace so great for visits, also excellent transport links into London and surrounding areas as the train station is only a short walk. The on site parking is great too. The property is always spotlessly clean, well maintained and managed. Great to have the associated Cafe across the road offering a discount for staying guests, and Bushy park right on the doorstep for those more energetic guests wanting a run or leisurely walk amongst the beautiful resident deer. A short walk down the road gives you access to a plethora of Cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. I can highly recommend The Mute Swan, food, service and atmosphere are fantastic, but I would suggesting booking a table as each time we have been it has been extremely busy!

The only thing I would highlight is to be careful of the hot water in the kitchen when washing up as it is absolutely scalding hot, not a bad thing if wanting to wash dishes, but something to be mindful of.

Location is excellent especially for visiting Hampton Court. The appartments are quite large & modern & the owner was very accommodating & helpful on our arrival.

I booked this for the location for an embroidery course at Hampton Court.

I arrived and could not stay in the room because of cigarette smoke. The manager said he could not switch my room, and when I told him I have respiratory problems and allergic to smoke he just laughed at me. I had paid in advance and now have lost $700 and had to find another place to stay, which of course was also expensive since it was so last minute. Awful smell, awful manager--beware!

I know we stayed in a heatwave but it was just so so hot. The fans weren’t adequate at all. We were on the top floor there is no roof space so the heat in the apartment was off the scale. We couldn’t sleep at all. Need much better fans or air con. Would stay again in winter but never summer.

Absolutely excellent location for visiting Hampton Court and a River Cruise. We parked our car and didn't use it for 3 days, everything walkable. Lovely and spacious, clean apartment and a fan provided which was definitely appreciated, as weather so hot! Definitely would use again,and no hesitation recommending.

It was so close to Hampton Court where I was attending a festival. It was spacious and light and comfortable

Very convenient for our day at Wimbledon. Train stop 11 minutes walk away. Wanted to go across the road to the cafe run by the owner, unfortunately we had to set off for home so didn't have time. There was 10% off in there for staying at the apartments. The owner got in touch with us regarding this which was very helpful.

Our door key was sticking in the key hole quite a lot. Contacted the owner about this and he's sorted it already.

The apartment was immaculate and well presented. There was free parking available too. All the fixtures and fittings were of a high quality. The location is great. Easy walking distance to Hampton Court, the pub and railway station....great for getting to Wimbledon. We have friends nearby and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The phone signal in the area is surprisingly weak and the wifi is weak too.

The geographically location in relation to local eateries, parks, and Hampton Court Palace as well as Hampton Wick and Teddington station. We booked last minute as previously chosen hotels were unavailable. We had booked, driven to and checked in all within half an hour. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable even during the heatwave. It's somewhere I'd recommend to others to stay as well as us staying there again. Thank you!!

The location was great and the apartment was really cool, even in the middle of a heatwave! The shower was lovely and the bed was really comfortable. We needed more bedding though, so I messaged Mark, and he promptly brought it round.

Great location for Hampton Court and Teddington with parking. Modern fittings and beds comfortable. Dishwasher and full oven in the kitchen. Showers work well. The cafe across the road is excellent. It was very hot in the apartment and our the host did provide extra fans for each room.

Could have done with a couple more comfy chairs. A two seater sofa bed and one chair wasn’t enough for 4 of us. If you’re planning to cook the Kitchen could do with a few more utensils like a cheese grater and peeler. Only the frying pan and one small pan worked on the induction hob. No ovenware provided.

Accomodation is excellent very clean everything you could need was supplied. We visited Hampton Court Palace which is well within walking distance and also shops and restaurants .

Great location with plenty of off-road parking right by the room. Lovely shower, and the room had everything we needed. Recommended.

Excellent communication with the host prior to arrival. He came to say hello about 15 minutes after we arrived and nothing any bother.

The location of the property was excellent for us - we wanted to walk some Thames Path, shop at Kingston and also go up to Tate Britain for an exhibition. The property is contemporary, spacious, has good storage in the kitchen and bedroom, free parking outside the property, a lovely cafe opposite the property and the sound proofing was excellent (couldn't hear the traffic outside).

It took a long time to warm up the property. Eventually, the lounge was cosy, but only if the bedroom door was shut. The bedroom and bathroom, although heated, were cold at night. The flooring is laminate, so that probably didn't help with heat retention. We were the only people staying at the property, so we think it is more a high season place to stay and the heating had not been on for a while. We had to phone the manager to get the WiFi password - there wasn't any property instructions (the manager said there should have been). We were disappointed that the TV didn't have an HDMI outlet for us to connect our laptop to, but a small thing.

Well located, including for the local cafe, nearby restaurant and the Hampton Court Garden Festival. Well-appointed unit with all necessary facilities, including safe parking. Liongate cafe really nice & roomy; good food choice - La Fiamma Italian (2 min walk) brilliant food and with views onto Bushy Park.

Attending my cousins funeral in Kingston so excellent location and visited Hampton Court Palace the next day. Very comfortable and great hot shower. Their Cafe opposite was very welcome too for coffee and croissant. Nice to walk in Bushy Park too before the rain started.

Seemed to be only apartment without Christmas wreath on the door which was a shame. Toilet door swollen so hard to close and handle coming away from the wood. Just needs maintenance but would not stop us recommending this place.

The location was ideal.

Quite a basic apartment, poor furniture and soft furnishings.

It's well appointed accommodation and we have stayed before without any issues.

No duvet for the sofa bed. A used condom left under the sofa cushions and no reply from the manager when we called to ask for a duvet

I have recently had 3 stays at The Lion Gate Mews and I can't recommend it highly enough. Spotlessly clean, warm, and very comfortable beds. Mark, the Manager, could not have been more accommodating and was super helpful. I have already been recommending The Lion Gate to friends and family.

Apart from the excellent property, cleanliness, and facilities, the service provided by director Mark was exceptional. The coffee shop and snack bar are just across the apartments, and the underground station is just a few minutes' walk. Thank you

Absolutely fantastic! clean, good location, parking onsite. Next door to Hampton Court Palace and opposite Bushy Park. Lovely food at the lions gate cafe opposite. Lovely comfy beds and so quiet at night.

The accommodation was clean and tidy. It was sound proofed and it was in a very convenient location.

The location to the palace was very convenient and allowed us to do a lot more than normal. There are parks on all sides to explore, and a bus stop is very close. The kitchenette is super helpful for saving money on food, although finding a grocery store takes a bit of a trek. One night as we were cooking, my husband burned some butter and the fire alarm went off in the whole complex. The owner was sooo nice about it, saying how the smoke detector is sensitive, but I think it's just doing its job.

The walls were pretty thin....if you have active neighbors you can hear everything.

Great location for visiting Hampton Court Palace, literally 5 minutes round the corner. Also Direct train into Waterloo only taking 30 mins. Apartment was ideal for our family of 3. Bedroom was lovely as was the bathroom. Sofa bed wasnt the comfiest but ok for a few nights. Area was quiet with nice walks nearby.

Communication at first wasn't great, messages sent after booking went unanswered. Had to phone for bedding for the sofa bed. Was unable to leave luggage on our last day to visit the Palace, thankfully our bags were able to fit in the lockers provided there.

The apartment was very clean, modern and comfortable. Bedding and towels excellent quality. Mark was very apologetic about the bathroom situation which Booking.com said was a 'private bathroom' when in fact it was ensuite. Not ideal for friends sharing and having to go through the main bedroom to use the bathroom facilities. Mark did his best to say sorry and gave us free coffee vouchers for the Lion Mews cafe.

The ensuite was not acceptable for my sister and I. The description given said 'private bathroom' when it should say clearly 'ensuite'. I took 'private bathroom' to mean not a shared bathroom. This made our stay uncomfortable as for three nights my sister had to keep coming through my room to use the bathroom facilities. I also asked for a bath tub and this was not provided despite emailing.

Was missing a proper oven and washing machine (my fault for not checking) so it was more like a hotel suite than a serviced apartment. There was also no dishwasher.

Excellent location, car parking was a major reason for our booking. Everything we needed was in the accommodation. Oven, hob, microwave, fridge, with freezer compartment, dishwasher. Two rooms two bathrooms. TV. Apartment was nicely decorated and furnished. Very clean and well maintained. Very convenient for Hampton court palace. Bus stops in both directions very close to accommodation. Nearest pub/restaurant 5 mins walk, more choice over the bridge, maybe 15 min walk. Walking and cycling across the road in Bushy park. Entrance to lion gate mews not very obvious, but it’s almost on the zebra crossing next to the Lion gate entrance for the Hampton court palace grounds. easy to find with that knowledge.
