The facilities on site were great and well kept, breakfast buffet had a great selection. Private Onsen was perfect and clean, very good value for what you get.
Location was a bit of a walk outside of town so not too convenient to get there for food and shopping, outside of the shuttle services provided.
Very warm welcome and interactions throughout the stay. The staff went above and beyond to help us in all possible ways. The onsen is beautiful and peaceful. Their private Onsens are also superb. The set menu dinner allowed us to taste varied japanese dishes and ingredientes and the private room for dinner goes really well when you have kids. The gym was better than most hotels but needs a few heavier weights. We loved staying there, thank you very much to the staff.
The swimming pool wasn't ready in June (already hot)
What a regal and authentic Japanese onsen hotel. Very traditional. The onsen is the best one for the town in my opinion, and we love the convenience of it being in the hotel itself. We walked to the other onsen nearby and it was ok. This hotel's onsen is luxurious, spacious, and not crowded. I loved the communal area where I could meet up with my partner after we went to our respective gender sides and cool off with some drinks. We had two different rooms, one was modern and one was traditional. Both were adequate but could use some updating, especially the modern one. The rest of the hotel was nice, especially the lobby, the view with the glass windows is spectacular. Staff were lovely and we just love how attentive they all were. Lots of amenities provided, including yukatas and bags for visiting other onsens. Staying here left us feeling so spoilt. The stay was expensive but worth it and we really enjoyed our time there.
Room keys were still keys, not key cards.
Our favorite onsen experience by far. Staff was attentive and always friendly. We loved our private onsen. Private chef-prepared multi-course dinners in our own dining room were 5-Star! Too many wonderful details to mention. We’ll never forget our stay!
Honestly, while there were many offerings, the breakfast was disappointing. The western options were not very good—super runny scrambled eggs, stale/hard pastries.
The property is perfect for anyone looking to rest und relax. The entire staff is exceptionally friendly, professional, and efficient. The room are very spacious and comfortable, and the restaurant is outstanding, offering a truly memorable dining e prience.
Ar the end of June , it is disappointing not to have sun loungers or reclining chairs available by the pool. When I asked about them, I was told that They were kept in storage, which was difficult to understand for a resort of this quality.
The beautiful Onsen
The breakfast dining room lacked atmosphere
Great hotel, great amenities and super helpful and servicefull staff.
Futon beds were uncomfortable
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The private onsen was fantastic. The shuttle bus was useful to get to the public onsen in the evening and for us to get to the train station on checkout.
Todo!
Nada!
Very nice hot springs. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Dinner was excellent
Although we had quite a few discussions around food allergies long before our trip, the hotel still messed up the menu.
The onsen was great
The overall property is nice, but there is a major issue with respect to food for vegetarian. We were here for just one day, but as soon as we checked in, we realised that all of their restaurants were fully booked for dinner and they basically didn’t have anything for us to eat from a vegetarian point of view. We literally had to figure out things on our own outside the hotel, the staff could not understand and resolve our problem.
The garden was beautiful. The staff were very hospitable.
The kaiseki meal was nice but the flavors were not to our palate. There were some standouts- the crab, sashimi, and Wagyu were exceptional. The meal could not be modified or refunded for the second night. A lot of items for breakfast were cold. There is a smell on the floor and room, though this may be due to the tatami floors. There was a man at the front desk that told my wife one of the rentable yukatas would not fit her and are only Japanese sizes because she is tall. We were able to get one with the help of a female staff member the next day.
Incredible place overall
Coffee at breakfast can be improved
Service and staff were excellent
Couldn't stay longer

Really nice hotel and service. Beautiful decor
Nothing
The ryokan is spacious and clean. The outdoor onsen is beautiful . Tha kaiseki dinner is delicious and add to our experiences.
To reserve the private onsen, we need to pay extra fee which is not reasonable, as the hotel charge is already very high. The check in time can be more flexible and more welcoming. The counter service staff need to be fluent in English as a lot of international tourist are visiting Japan.
Her har du alt du trenger!

The private onsen was lovely. The staff were very kind, attentive and amazing hosts. The dinner was especially delicious and every dish was presented so beautifully.
Good location! Very nice onsen!
The room’s interior was a bit old and the carpet was stained!
The service during our stay at Shogetsutei was superb. We were welcomed with a special drink upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. Thanks to the staff, we were still able to wear yukatas even after checking out to hop between the different onsens in Kinosaki Town, and return them easily at the Kinosaki Information and Tour Counter – SOZORO before taking our train back to Kyoto.
The rooms were great, and obviously the highlight of the place was the Onsen, beautiful Onsen amazing Dinner was fantastic too, great hospitality
Nothing to complaint about
Great traditional Japanese hotel. In house onsen was great and walking distance into town
Perfect place for relax, best onsen with great atmosphere, grate food.
Everybody was very kind and helpful and they have extended sizes for the yukatas up to 5L
We had a wonderful stay at this onsen hotel. The shuttle bus service was very convenient, running every 30 minutes, which made getting around very easy. The kaiseki dinner provided by the hotel was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent – the staff were attentive and thoughtful, and even arranged a private dining room for our family, which made the experience extra special. The room was spacious, well-arranged, and offered a beautiful view. Every detail was carefully considered. Our children were especially happy throughout the stay, which made it even more memorable for us
Nothing in particular. Everything exceeded our expectations.
Beautiful room with an amazing view. The staff was polite. The bath (the hotel onsen) was one of the best I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen many different baths and onsens having been in Japan twice). Breakfast was excellent, there was plenty of choice and the quality was on top.
The only downside was the dinner. I had really high expectations but unfortunately most of the things we ate did not match them. We’ve had many kaiseki experiences over the past 2 years travelling across Japan and I’m sorry to say this was one of the most disappointing.
We loved EVERYTHING about this ryokan. There was not a single thing to complain about. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. First off, they have a free shuttle that picks you up from the train station, which you can also take all around town during your stay. We chose a traditional style Japanese room with a forest view and breakfast/dinner in a private room. It was AMAZING. They set up your bed every night and take it down every morning, plus they were incredibly comfortable. Our view was outstanding. Dinner changed every night and it was a 10-12 course dinner, with our own private staff and room. Quality was exceptional - definitely get the dinner with Kobe beef! The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve ever seen. Additionally, we had to leave super early on our check-out morning to get to our train on time. The literally boxed us up bento boxes for the road and had a private car drop us off at the station, for free. We also booked two private onsens during our stay, the Japanese and Chinese baths. They were both excellent, and their public onsen was also fantastic. I would rate this a A++ and we will definitely be staying here again. Also, this was our honeymoon and they treated us like royalty. Thank you so much!!
Nothing!
Food was great, onsen is great, staff are great. When I arrived at the wrong hotel (under the same brand I guess), a staff member offered to drive me to the right hotel. Cherry blossoms right outside the hotel also makes it really beautiful.
Compared to other ryokans in the area, it seems like there are more guests staying in the hotel? This could be a downside if you wish to have a quieter, more personal ryokan experience.
Everything was just perfect

Service, cleanliness and beauty
Excellent facilities, and food is simply amazing
Loved absolutely everything about this hotel - it’s beautiful, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the rooms are so clean and comfortable, the food was excellent. And the hotel onsen was easily my favourite of the whole town, as it also had a sauna. Very glad I treated myself to this stay.
Nothing!
Friendly staff and good onsen
Private onsen expensive and booking reservation require to be months earlier prior the stay
Absolute Weiterempfehlung!

We spent 2 nights at Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei in January 2026 and it was an amazing experience. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff were the most accommodating I’ve ever seen. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room that was large and had a lovely view. The food was thoughtfully curated and they catered to some dietary restrictions. Throughout our stay, the staff was kind, helpful and considerate. There was a massive snowstorm the night before we were supposed to leave that resulted in all train service being cancelled to Kinosakionsen station. The staff did everything in their power to help us figure out the best plan to return to Tokyo and ensured we had a room to stay in if we could not make it back. They ended up setting up a bus to take all guests to a working train station in the morning, to ensure everyone could leave when needed. The service here is above and beyond. This was a highlight of our first trip to Japan.
Our group of three spent two nights at this ryokan. These two nights were a high point of our two weeks in Japan. Our room package was for a Japanese style room, private hot pool and two dinners delivered and served in the room. We used the gorgeous public baths on property. The Japanese bath experience is appropriate for both young and old. First the room: the room was lovely and huge for three people. We slept on the comfiest mats on the ground with the most perfect weight duvet. We all slept soundly and woke up refreshed. The hot pool bubbles offered pleasant background noise around the clock. We would use our personal hot pool in both the morning and evening. Second the meals: The meals were over the top. We had the same server both days and she treated the dinner service with dignity and attention to detail. The food was imaginative and delicious. The meal has many courses and each was presented beautifully. What a special experience to have dinner served in our room. So very decadent! A buffet breakfast with is served in a large hall with views of the beautiful landscape. There was such a huge variety of Japanese and western food, every appetite was satisfied. Lastly the service: The most important facet of our stay was the service of the hotel employees. We were stranded during a huge snow storm with the trains being cancelled for days. We had resigned ourselves to being at the hotel for an undetermined number of days perhaps missing our flights home. The staff pulled out all the stops to find and hire a bus to take us to the nearest working train station which was two plus hours away. They were amazing and I can’t believe the level of professionalism and kindness. .
