Hotel Rockaway

This is a good hotel to stay. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Zicatela beach was only across the street. Good restaurants only a few steps away. Quiet and very safe place. If you use the swimming pool or go to the beach they lend you towels. Highly recommended.

Muy cómodo y bonito el hotel, cerquitititita de la playa Zicatela (a unos 3 min caminando), la cama muy cómoda, el staff muy amable. Único detallito (si lo quieren contar como tal, es que no hay casi opciones de comida en el menú, y la verdad la comida no es tan buena en el hotel)

The service was excellent, team takes care of you the minute you walk in. The pools are clean and well kept. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms have good AC going.

It was a terrible experience, our room was dirty hair and stains in the bed, refrigerator didn’t work and to make it worst the AC wasn’t working temperature was 90 degrees. I will never comeback there and Wii not recommend to anyone.

Very close to the beach and convince location. Kids love the nice and spacious pools.

The property in close by to the beach. It’s walking distance to shops and restaurants. Staff was always friendly and helpful. It has two pools, restaurant and bar. We had breakfast there food was good. Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We will be coming back.

Do not stay here if you want to go to bed before midnight. The pool stays open, playing loud music that echoes all the rooms until 11PM (even though they say 10:30 is close). Even when there is no one sitting in the pool area.

I booked this hotel for one night to experience the Zicatela area of town, while I normally stayed in centro. The rooms have fridges but no coffee makers, which is odd at this price range. But the very good complimentary breakfast in the morning makes up for it.

Could have used blackout curtains. Location was good but unfortunately the nightclub across the street chose to play loud music until 4 a.m. one night. Prices and staff at pool bar were exceptional.

Good Hotel with pools a good food and drinks, the problem that we experienced is only noise, music was so loud that was not possible to sleep.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Hotel located in convenient area to shops, restaurants. Ample pool area but will probably get busy during high season. Restaurant staff very nice.

We really liked being directly on Zicatela beach and close by to other surfing areas. The shops and restaurants are very much a beach type vibe. Good location, good A/C, warm water, pool and free breakfast on site. I do recommend ear plugs as the music can be loud some nights. Thank you.

They have a dj play from 10 am till 11pm,,so loud that my room was vibrating.Cant have a nap,conversation,,etc.It was like staying inside a rave.When i spoke to staff they said sorry the owner wants it this way. On tripad.there is dosens of reviews stating the same thing.Wish i had of read them in advance,

Convenient location

We left after a few nights. The cartel owned bar across the street runs the town and blasts the loudest death “ music” until 5:20 am. The government apparently has no control over this. It shakes the building with alternating vibrations every ten seconds. Pure hell. I feel for the people of the town. The government should be ashamed.

Really enjoyed my stay here. I had a basic room which was roomy enough, comfortable bed, good shower, AC, etc. Pool on location was small but nice; staff very friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was good. The location is excellent, close to many dining and shopping options and the beach is great.

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. The staff was great. Ismael was attentive during breakfast and around poolside provided world class service. The room as not as expected. Kinda run down and the refrigerator we used as a table becaise the table was only 24" square. Bathroom was clean but had a had a wierd smell near the toilet. The shower had no pressure and was tough to rinse off. Bed was firm and comfortable. We had a rooster go off every half hour during the day and was responsible for not letting me sleep in, waking me up at 7:15am ever morning to start the day. I finally found where the guy resides and if I was brave enough it would have been a brawl like a Peter Griffin/Ernie the Chicken fight.

Loved staying here. So clean and location is perfect. The staffing is excellent and helpful! We look forward to our next trip here.

The hotel staff were great. The bed was fantastic but the room seemed stark and somewhat barren. The television was snowy the entire time. Thursday night the noise from across the street kept us awake until 4:30 am, even though our room was at the back of the hotel. Can't recommend a weekend stay.

The staff is very helpful. I recommend the breakfast with it's selection of 8 breakfast types. All 4 that i tried were delicious. The beach is across the street with easy access. There are several good restaurants near by. The pool is well maintained as is the property.

Just across the street from Playa Zicatela. The suite was nice and spacious. The pool area is beautiful. We went later in the evening and the pool did not look clean but in the morning they were cleaning it and it looked better. The breakfast included was quite good, good coffee

The rooms are a great value for space and included kitchenette. The only downside on my stay was unreliable WiFi and sometimes unable to get hot water.

Everything was perfect until we got in the room to wind down and watch tv. We couldnt because the visibility sucked. I was advised its because of the cable and its going to show like that. For the amount of people staying and money charged, they need to invest in some cable. Also no black out curtains.

The beach is open ocean , beautiful but you can’t swim there you need to drive to another beach ti swim

The Rockaway is a great deal. Very clean, comfortable beds, great air conditioning, delicious breakfast with lots of options, two pools, right on the beach, and all for a very affordable price! We happened to be in town during the Zicatela Surf Competition and it was happening directly in front of the hotel. We would definitely come back!

The staff were wonderful. The property was constantly being improved and maintained during my stay. The best spot in zicatella, right across from the big waves and surfers. Great food at hotel and all around. I was even able to find parking for my moto during my stay.

This place is very well placed, near the ocean and on a maine street. Juste enough action, just enough peacr, not too crowdy, not too quiet. Almost perfect!

Very disappointed by this hotel. AC was not working during a heat wave. Rooms are in very poor condition. Area is loud due to clubs across the street literally non stop till 5:00 a.m. Windows have very little privacy. The way it is advertised does not represent the poor reality of this hotel. Just BAD!

We got in earlier than check in time and staff was friendly and let us store our luggage in the office. They gave us towels to take to either beach or pool. We opted to go to the beach. When we returned to check in around 8pm, and get our room it was a quick process. Upon entering our room there was water on the floor. My guess is maybe from the mop. Things seemed clean but the room just felt kind of dingy. The walls and curtains had stains/marks on them. Our bathroom light was out and our tv wasn’t working properly. The staff was very quick and friendly to fix the issues. The pools were nice and inviting. Great temperature. We didn’t get to enjoy the breakfast because we left very early but I saw them setting up for it and it looked nice. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet.

Would stay again

The jr suite did not have a microwave, coffe maker or any plug ins at all. There was minimal storage for the week. Breakfast was excellent and servers were amazing.

Awesome tucked-away spot yet it is a few steps from the long wide beach. It has the best free breakfast ever.

This property was nice if you are a family with children. Lots of children in the pool being noisy late into the evening. If you like a dark room this isn’t for you. Very light. Noisy at night but my noise maker took care of that. Great breakfast, friendly staff. Convenient to the beach and restaurants.

Amazing stay for 8 days 7 nights. The location is perfectly placed in front of Zicatela Beach lots of restaurants and shops. The hotel is clean and the service is amazing.

Very large well appointed room with huge balcony, kitchen, sitting room, kitchen. Highly recommend.

All good, friendly staff, rooms need refurbishing, The Internet is super slow, I was unable to work. Very centric, very good breakfast but you need to pay if you want more.

Staff were wonderful, if I stay again I would ask for a room at the back. Street noise on ocean side as well as night club music until dawn several days a week. Beach is beautiful, but surf is a little big for swimming. You need to venture further. Wicked sunsets

Fuera de eso en verdad es muy buen lugar, el servicio es muy amable y cualquier duda te ayudan muchísimo

Nice service, quick to answer. Sheets had stains on them but overall it was a nice stay. Air conditioning was also a plus, made the room cold quick.

My girlfriend and I loved our stay. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the breakfast was delicious and the room ac was cold. Wifi was spotty so make sure to not need the internet too much. 10/10 recommended.

Great place and right next to Zicatela Beach. Only complaint I have is that the towels were not changed.

The Rockaway provided a lovely place for our family to call home for a few days as we explored Puerto Escondido. The staff were very friendly and accommodating on an early check-in and requested late check-out. The room and facilities were clean and the tone was relaxing. A great breakfast- go early though, it can get busy. Very pleasant visit.

Night clubs across the Street Won’t let you sleep

Picked this place because it had AC, location & rating. I was not disappointed. This place is really nice. The staff is friendly. The place is clean. The breakfast was also delicious. Pool was awesome. The hotel has nice shops attached like a 24 hour store. Very safe area too. Would definitely stay here again.

Helpful staff, nice breakfast, clean rooms, goid aircon, quiet even though close to thw busy strret at night, lovely pool area and bar / restaurant. Only real negative was that the wifi was patchy in the bedroom, but worked ok at the pool area.

I stayed here on two occasions during my time in PE. The staff were lovely and accommodating. As a female traveling solo, I felt very comfortable and safe staying here. The rooms were clean and well air conditioned. The hotel is well positioned in Zicatela, right across from the beach. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance. There is a small store convenience store within the hotel where you can buy sunscreen, water, snacks etc. There is a coffee shop next door that opens at 6am if you need to grab a snack before an early flight. The only thing to make note of is that there is a beach club across the street, and the DJ plays until the morning. I requested a “quiet” room, but as a light sleeper I still slept with earplugs. Other than that it was a very comfortable stay!

Beautiful place to stay. Had a power outage for the entire day. No AC in that 90 degree weather not a good feeling.

Overall I liked the Hotel Rockaway. This is literally across the street from Zicatela Beach with plenty of convenience stores and restaurants around the hotel. Most of the staff were super nice (you might run into a grumpy one) but the majority of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The only thing that I thought could be improved was the Wi-Fi. I was there after a work meeting and still had work and I could not complete it with the Wi-Fi speeds in my room. I was told that the restaurant had stronger internet but there were no electrical outlets so - I was stuck.

We had a great stay at hotel rockaway. Our room was clean with easy access to the pool. The complimentary breakfast was great and the staff was very accommodating. Parking was convenient.

it is a good place to stay for budget friendly people. The music from the clubs around can be a little annoying if you are trying to sleep at night. Choose the back rooms not facing the strip

We stayed in room 210, quiet suite away from busy street so I liked the peaceful nights. Hotel overall super nice, clean, and well kept, although a few things that can be improved but overall in good condition; keep in mind is an older building and "first world amenities" are not gonna be found. I really enjoyed staying here, I enjoyed the daily breakfast, and the friendly people. Thanks for a wonderful stay, keep up the great work.

We had the best time at this hotel. The area is perfect very loud area but we knew this before booking the hotel and did not mind. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Gracias por todo!

It is rare we leave lukewarm reviews, but in this case you pay for what you get. Pros: Economical stay with a spacious room, excellent breakfast (very tasty, large portions and great variety) and wonderful, friendly service. They replied to every WhatsApp we sent and aimed to resolve our issues quickly. The location is very central on Zicatela and surrounded by lots of great restaurants. Housekeeping was great everyday. Cons: Very loud. Everything was so loud. The pool, the AC unit. We met people by the pool and everyone talked about how loud it was and what little sleep they got. Wifi is garbage. Spotty at best. Our room had a very stale smell that was so strong we had to leave every window and door open to alleviate when we were in the room.
